“American Idol” Cancelled After Season 10?

Is it the end of the road for American Idol?

Tipsters tell Star Magazine that next year’s 10th season of Idol will be its last.

Simon Cowell’s departure from the long-running reality competition is reportedly behind its demise. Everyone involved with the program is in agreement that Idol cannot continue successful with Simon headlining a US edition of UK hit The X Factor — and former judge Paula Abdul possibly joining him, the tabloid claims.

Pal: "I'd Be Shocked" if Sandra Bullock Went "Back" to Jesse

Don't expect Jesse James and Sandra Bullock to reconcile any time soon.

"Knowing the kind of person she is, I'd be shocked if she contemplated going back to him," a pal of the actress, 45, tells the new issue of Us Weekly as a fourth woman comes forward claiming an affair with James, 40.

Finding out that her husband of nearly five years cheated on her "is probably one of the most devastating pieces of information she’s ever gotten," Bullock’s close friend and longtime costumer Joel Voorhies tells UsMagazine.com.

Seconds another insider, "It's as bad as when her mom died in 1997. She just can't look at him and can't talk to him."

Bullock reportedly returned to Los Angeles Tuesday night after hiding out in Austin, Tex., according to unconfirmed Internet reports.

Fox's '24' winds down to its end

Fox has officially stopped the clock on 24.

The network announced Friday it has canceled the series, as first reported by USA TODAY. A victim of higher costs and declining ratings, 24 will end its run when the current eighth season concludes this spring.

Star Keifer Sutherland says he's "really nostalgic and really sad" at the show's demise. But executive producer Howard Gordon says the cast and crew agreed the time was right, as the show's real-time format became limiting: "We've really had what feels like our last day."

What Happens When Apple Passes Microsoft In Value? Yes, When.

Apple’s stock is up over $3 today, pushing it past the $230-a-share mark. Microsoft’s is down $0.25, pushing it below the $30-a-share mark. While this discrepancy is huge on the surface, it doesn’t mean all that much because there are many, many more outstanding shares of Microsoft stock out there on the market (ten times more, in fact). That’s why Microsoft’s market cap is higher than Apple’s, despite the individual stock price difference. But that market cap gap is closing. Quickly.

Apple looks poised to get within $50 billion of Microsoft market cap any day now. Currently, Apple’s market cap is $208.76 billion, while Microsoft’s is $261.01 billion. And while $50 billion may seem like a huge chasm, consider that since December 31, 2009, just a few months ago, Apple has added about $20 billion to its market cap, while Microsoft has lost about $10 billion. Again, the gap is closing, quickly.

Things are even more insane when you look at the data from a decade ago. Back then, Microsoft’s market cap was nearly $590 billion. It was the most valuable company in the world — by far (#2, GE, was over $100 billion behind). Apple, meanwhile, had a market cap of just $16 billion at the time. It was the 339th most valuable company in the world, two spots behind Volkswagen.

Jobs and Schmidt : Maybe they don’t hate each other?

Steve Jobs and Eric Schmidt, whose companies have just ended their love affair, were spotted minutes ago talking business at Calafia in the Town and Country shopping center in Palo Alto.

Our tipster saw em and snapped these shots, and noted that the cafe is owned and operated by former Google chef Charlie Ayers. Overheard from the conversation were two lines by Jobs. Enthusiastically, "They're going to see it all eventually so who cares how they get it." Which seemed to be about web content, said the tipster. And, "Let's go discuss this somewhere more private," after they noticed the crowd gathering around. I think that was probably a wise move. Schmidt was very quiet, listening, and Jobs was doing a lot of the talking. What do you make of the body language? And what's that black thing on the table? Update: No, it's not an iPad. It's a menu. Tipster says the first thing he looked for was an iPad, and that isn't it.

Photos from Rain’s Love Song MV

Yesterday, superstar Rain revealed a MV teaser for his upcoming title track Love Song from his upcoming special album Back to the Basic and now here’s some photos from the MV.

The photos show two sides of Rain, one with a more masculine look in a dark urban setting. While the other shows him wearing white in a more quiet and affectionate setting.

iPad App Store revealed?

Still a week from the official debut of the Apple iPad, one blog appears to have turned up screenshots of the device's version of the App Store.

App Annie, an analytics site that monitors mobile applications, says it stumbled upon a feed that contained the image of the home page of the iPad's App Store interface.

It's interesting in that it shows listings for quite a few apps already, many of which are games. It looks a lot like the iPad version of the App Store and iTunes Store Steve Jobs walked through during his demonstration of the iPad at the January iPad introduction event.

HTC Desire Unboxing [Video]

While the HTC Legend was a shiny, unibody wonder, the undoubtable star of Mobile World Congress last month was the HTC Desire. Instantly dubbed “the Nexus One with Sense”, the Android 2.1 smartphone has just arrived on the SlashGear doorstep demanding its unboxing video privileges. Who are we to turn down a 3.7-inch AMOLED display, 1GHz Snapdragon processor and 5-megapixel camera? Check out the unboxing, plus a first-look comparison with the Nexus One, after the cut.

While HTC are responsible for the industrial design of both handsets, the Desire feels significantly different in the hand to the Nexus One. That’s predominantly down to the rubberised back cover, rather than the Google phone’s metal panel. It’s soft-touch and all very nice, but the Desire does end up losing some of the Nexus One’s waifish charm. Still, an improvement is the optical trackpad, which is just as responsive as the trackball (if not more so), and the hardware buttons which have none of the accuracy issues Nexus One owners have encountered with that phone’s capacitive keys.

Christina Aguilera New Song “Not Myself Tonight” Snippet

Christina Stans have inched a little closer to the return of Queen Aguilera after the Grammy-winning visionary debuted a snippet of her upcoming single “Not Myself Tonight” on ChristinaAguilera.com on Friday. The full song — produced by Polow Da Don — will debut on March 30.

The song is the lead single from Christina’s forthcoming LP, Bionic, dropping June 8.

Miley Cyrus on Ditching Music: "I've Got a Record Coming Out in June and Then I'm Done"

Miley Cyrus isn't joking around when she says it's time for her to move on from the music biz.

She recently revealed on The View that she's become a bit disheartened because "the music industry isn't as positive as I'd like it to be."

She didn't backtrack at all when I caught up with her last night at the Hollywood premiere of The Last Song…

"I've got a record coming out in June and then I'm done," she said. "I just want to work in movies. That's what I like and that's what I want to be doing."

The Last Song, opening March 31, is Cyrus' first major acting project outside of Hannah Montana.

Not only does the flick's director, Julie Anne Robinson, have high hopes for Cyrus, but so does her costar and real-life beau Liam Hemsworth. He says he wasn't surprised when Cyrus held her own during the movie's more dramatic scenes.

"You know how she feels when she's feeling down and you know how she feels when she's feeling up," he said. "She's a very expressive person and that works on the screen. It really does, and she's really good."

That was easy: Apple buys iPad trademark from Fujitsu

There's no indication as to what sort of wildness went on behind closed doors, but Apple is now the proud new owner of a slightly used "iPad" trademark. Fujitsu, who filed for ownership in March of 2003 to cover a Windows CE device for point-of-sale, doesn't seem to have put up much of a fight, and after a mere seven years of ownership (with a bit of a hazy period in 2009) has assigned the name to Apple. We don't know why, but we assume a nice pile of cash, or maybe some somehow legitimate legal threats as well, had something to do with it. This is all well and good, particularly for any iPad pre-orderers afraid they'd have to scratch off the iPad branding if Apple failed to score the name, but like we said in January when Fujitsu was still asserting its ownership of the mark: why can't Apple ever learn to have these conversations ahead of time?

'The Vampire Diaries' and Microsoft team up, try to add 'Binged' to the lexicon

If you were watching last night's episode of The Vampire Diaries (believe us, we were not), you probably saw something a little... strange. Yes, with the opening credits still running, two women (sorry, we have never seen a frame of this show so we don't know who these broads are) sitting in front of a laptop converse about a runaway teen named Isabelle Peterson or something like that. Unsure of whether or not this suspicious Peterson character was using a fake name or not, the ladies needed... well, they needed a tool that would allow them to search the vast and beautiful world wide web of information. "But where'd she get Peterson? Classmate? Best friend?" the blond sitting at the terminal wonders. "So..." she says, turning to the computer, "... I Binged it." Wait, what? You Binged it? Hmm... we've never heard that one before, though we have to say in this case, it seems like Bing really came through for the ladies, nailing down the information they were looking for with ease. It's quite an extended piece of advertising, really. But seriously... Binged? Guess it'll have to do. Video is after the break.

USB mass storage support coming to Xbox 360 on April 6th

We had a pretty firm idea that this was happening, but now Major Nelson has gone and made it official: mass storage is coming the Xbox 360 at long last. There will be a system update on April 6th, which will allow up to two simultaneous USB flash drives plugged into the system, which will be capable of storing profiles, game saves, demos, "and more." The maximum size supported is 16GB, and even though regular USB hard drives will be supported, they'll be up against the same size cap, and performance will suffer as well. You'll have to manually format a USB device for use in this way when plugging it into the 360, but Microsoft will be partnering with SanDisk for a branded drive in May that will come preconfigured. Also tweaked is the new memory management screen (what convenient timing!) which should make shuffling around these files less of a chore.

Apple iPad Cumulative Orders Reaching 500,000, Approved iPad Apps Make Appearance

Apple has a tablet coming out. Have you heard? Of course you have. And, despite the fact that some analysts have painted the future gadget as little less than a mark in Apple’s long list of releases, it seems that the actual numbers may actually point to something quite different. In fact, if you were to look over the numbers, it seems that the Apple iPad is actually doing quite well for itself.

As product releases go, analysts make a killing off their estimates (career wise). However, their reports can lead to some pretty drastic conclusions; not just from us, or consumers, but from companies analyzing those analysts. Each time one of them comes out and says that a particular product’s not performing that well, you know that the other companies out there are adjusting their position. Of course, the same goes for when analysts report good things. We’ve got a report from Fortune today, stating that the iPad, based on online orders, is nearing a quarter of a million iPads. As the report breaks down, it looks something like this: 120,000 units purchased in the first day; 70,000 units in the first week, which excludes the first day; an additional 50,000 ordered over the second week.

Jesse James' Ex-Employee Alleges He Exposed His "Sexual Organ" at Work

In 2000 -- years before wedding Sandra Bullock -- Jesse James was accused of sexual harassment by a former employee, according to documents obtained by UsMagazine

In a lawsuit filed Apr. 24, 2000 in Los Angeles Superior Court, former employee Deann McClung alleged James, 40, harassed her "on a regular basis" after she was hired at his West Coast Choppers bike shop in Long Beach, Calif., in April 1999.

She accused James of keeping pornography around the office, making degrading comments, glancing at her and other female employees in a lewd way, sexually propositioning her, touching her without her permission and exposing his "sexual organ."

In the suit, James' behavior was described as "malicious and was intended to oppress, humiliate, and denigrate" McClung "without justification." McClung alleged James' insulting, embarrassing and sexual harassing ... was committed while James was acting in the capacity as the president and owner of the company."

Robert Pattinson: ‘I’m Lucky That People Find Me Really Sexy’

ROBERT Pattinson fells “lucky” that people have all of a sudden started to find him “really sexy”.

The British actor — who plays vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight movie franchise — says he’s now considered attractive where he never used to be.

“I have been lucky, of course,” he said in an interview with Britain’s Telegraph newspaper. “Like, last year, if I went out, I’d have to fight to chat someone up.

“This year, I look exactly the same, which is really scruffy, and yet lots of people seem to have just changed their minds and decided I’m really sexy.

“Basically, anyone who wants to be seen as attractive should just get Twilight author Stephenie Meyer to say, ‘This guy is attractive’. Then everybody believes it.”

Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth Make Couple Premiere

You're not officially a couple in Hollywood until you've walked down the red carpet together.

So congratulations to Thursday's official red-carpeted couple: Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, who made their first public appearance together at last night's premiere for 'The Last Song.'

Of course, they are co-stars in the film, so they had every reason to be on the carpet together. But this significant entertainment industry commitment ceremony cements their status as "loved-up."

Does the iPad need Microsoft Office to succeed?

Apple's iWork suite for the tablet might not be enough for the workplace

In producing a version of its iWork suite of apps for the iPad, Apple is sending a signal: The device won't just be for watching video, playing games and reading books -- although those are sure big reasons why many people will buy one next weekend. By announcing iWork for the iPad during the tablet's unveiling in January, Apple clearly wanted to plant the idea of the iPad as a business and productivity device squarely in the minds of would-be buyers.

One of the questions that keeps coming up as the iPad's April 3 launch nears is whether it will be a good fit for office use. While some analysts have raised questions about security and management issues with corporate or education uses, others have wondered what business and productivity apps might emerge, and which ones could mean success for the nascent tablet.

T-Mobile HTC HD2 apparently sold out within hours

The HTC HD2 will never get to be upgraded to Windows Phone 7 Series, and it’s certainly not as hot as Sprint’s upcoming HTC EVO 4G, but this has not stopped T-Mobile USA customers to want it.

In fact, it looks like the HD2 is an instant hit in the US, as Boy Genius reports that the smartphone (launched on March 24) sold out in about four hours in almost all T-Mobile locations across the country.

At the moment, the HTC HD2 is also out of stock at T-Mo’s online store, where it should have been available for $199.99 (with a 2-yr contract agreement).

Tears form as Charlene Choi clarifies Ronald Cheng is not a playboy

The other day, Charlene Choi (Ah Sa) was in Mainland to promote her new film "Beauty On Duty" and exposed that after her 6 year relationship ended with Ronald Cheng, the rumors got out of hand. Most of the headlines would say Ronald is a playboy. At the film's Thank You reception, Ah Sa looked unhappy when she mentioned Ronald, tears formed in her eyes.

Gets into personality, clarifies for old lover

It was reported that the reason for the break up was because Ronald cheated? Ah Sa strongly supported Ronald: "We broke up because of mutual understanding, it does not involve any of the rumors. He is not that type of person. When I learned of the rumors, I was very angry, we have already broken up and still have to hurt Ronald and I. Our relationship had never involved a third person, the rumors have gone way over!"

Rihanna to Live With New Beau Matt Kemp?

Things are moving quickly for the Bajan Mama and her baseball-playing beau. The pair have only been dating for four months, but Rihanna, 22, has invited Matt to move into her new Hollywood mansion, Star Magazine spills on the pages of its April 5 issue.

“Matt is very happy to be moving in with Rihanna. He knew it was only a matter of time before Ri moved him in. He wants to make her happy. He’s keeping his house, to see how things go, but the are so in love,” says a spy.

Matt brought a box of his belongings over to Rihanna’s in mid-March and will be staying at the pad full-tme once he completes season training in Arizona later this spring.

Rihanna and Matt were first romantically-linked in January, after they were spotted on vacation together in Mexico. The sports star recently introduced Rihanna to his family when she attended an Ante Up for Autism charity fundraiser he was involved with.

Lady Gaga Elvis Duet Voted Music’s Ultimate Collaboration

One is a long dead music legend. The other a barely-clothed singing superstar from the streets of Manhattan. But music lovers are convinced a duet featuring Lady Gaga and Elvis Presley would be one of the most outstanding collaborations in music history, according to a new poll.

Fans were asked to pick the two singers they would most like to see share the spotlight on a track in a survey hosted by dating website Match.com this week, and a duet between the “LoveGame” hitmaker and The King topped the list.

The classic pairing of Michael Bublé and Nina Simone came a close second in the poll of over 1,000 people, while soul legends Aretha Franklin and the late Luther Vandross are the third most requested duet that has never happened.

iPad games we’d love to see

After news of the HD and XL iPad versions of some of our favorite games are on their way – Flight Control being one of my personal obsessions – we thought it would be fun to ponder what other boardgames would make for a fun iPad experience. Here’s our list. What would you guys like to see?

Carcassonne – If you’ve never split a few bottles of wine (or tequila) and played Carcassonne, you haven’t lived. To be able to play this with a few people on the iPad would be amazing and you wouldn’t have to carry all those cards around.

HTC Hero update to Android 2.1 on April 26th in home country of Taiwan

We're past mid-March and rapidly approaching the early Q2 launch estimates for the Android 2.1 update for HTC's Hero. Now Engadget Chinese has tipped us to an official HTC release date issued on Plurk (a very popular, local Twitter-like social service) in HTC's home country of Taiwan: April 26th. So we should see the update go hot globally, with the latest version of the Sense UI in tow, at about the same time. You know, if you haven't grown tired of waiting and already hacked it in.

Samsung's Galaxy S has four times the polygon power of Snapdragon

When we got some hands-on time with the recently announced Samsung Galaxy S, it was painfully apparent that the thing has some serious power under the hood. Now we have a better idea of just how much power, with reports indicating that it has the graphics oomph (thanks to its PowerVR SGX540 GPU) to push 90 million triangles per second. Compare that to the Snapdragon platform, which manages 22 million polygons, and the iPhone 3GS's 28 million from the earlier SGX535, and you get a feel for the muscle lurking behind that gorgeous Super AMOLED screen. Of course, polygon counts aren't everything when it comes to graphical power these days, and 300 million triangles won't help you if your handset gets laggy after you install every single Bejeweled clone in the Android Market, but forgive us if we're a little excited about the rapidly brewing mobile GPU war.

Congress On China: Google Gets A Big Wet Kiss. Microsoft Is “Enabling Tyranny”

This is why I have a strong dislike of government and our system of lobbyists. Many people in the tech community are becoming increasingly skeptical of Google’s motives in partially pulling out of the Chinese markets and starting to suggest a certain level of hypocrisy.

Google gets hacked over the Christmas holidays when most people aren’t watching the ship, and all of their source code for all of their products is, embarrassingly, downloaded to a Chinese hacker. Their response? Pull out of a search market that they are already failing in. But leave other assets that have more promise.

And suddenly the U.S. Congress is praising Google and slamming, well, Microsoft. Because doing business in China was just fine in December 2009. But today it’s very, very wrong. Says Chris Smith, R-N.J.:

They [Microsoft] need to get on the right side of human rights rather than enabling tyranny, which they’re doing right now.

HP ENVY 14, ENVY 17 and Pavilion dm4 confirmed?

We can’t help it, we’re picky; while the HP ENVY 13 and ENVY 15 are all well and good, we still want an ENVY 14 and ENVY 17 to slot into the range. Rumors have circulated for some time now about just such machines, and some judicious digging over by the NotebookReview forum members has turned up a couple of support documents seemingly confirming the 14- and 17-inch variants.

A CVA file called “HP Support Assistant CVA documentation, SP47326″ includes references to the ENVY 14 and ENVY 17, though of course beyond the product names there’s nothing so exciting as a spec list or release date. Previously we’ve speculated that HP could use Intel’s Core i5 processor line, slotting in-between the Core 2 Duo based ENVY 13 and the Core i7 based ENVY 15.

S.H.E tired to the point of sickness one after another because of "SHERO"

After one and a half years, S.H.E officially released their latest album "SHERO" across Asia today. Yesterday, a press conference was held in the European-style Victoria Hotel. The three girls admitted that lately they've been so tired that they've been falling sick one after the other. However, their charm of "attracting money" was still just as strong, grabbing 16 advertisements in the last six months alone.

H.I.M specially invited international renowned Taiwanese ultramarathon runner to present S.H.E with their "empress" crown. S.H.E expressed that they feel very lucky to have been in the music industry for 9 years and still be so popular. However, for the promotion activities for their new album, they have barely rested in the past 3 months. Each day they work for over 10 hours and thus have fallen sick one after the other. After Hebe's cold last week, this week Ella has fallen very sick but had to force herself to do the photoshoot. As soon as she was free, she would have to lie down to rest on the sofa.
