Katy Perry shoots in to VH1's Salute the Troops show as she descends onto stage in giant parachute

Katy Perry certainly knows how to make an entrance. The pop diva descended onto the stage at Vh1's Salute the Troops in a huge parachute, emblazoned with the American flag. She cut a sexy figure in a pair of blue sparkly hotpants teamed with a Stars and Stripes plunging top and knee-high white boots.

It was one of four racy outfits worn by the 26-year-old singer throughout the night, which was put on to honour the work of the America's military. In typically attention-grabbing fashion, Perry also wore an eye-catching gold dress, complete with matching studded peep-toe heels and a sailor hat and later slipped into a strapless red number split to the thigh.

Android grows faster than iPhone, RIM slips as smartphone wars continue

Research in Motion may have the largest share of the smartphone market in the U.S but the real smartphone battle to watch is featuring Apple and Google. to watch is the battle in on two others - Apple and Google.

The latest Comscore numbers on smartphone market share are in for the quarter ending October 31 - the first full quarter since the iPhone 4 hit the market - and Google and Apple were the only two to report growth. The other big players in this space - RIM, Microsoft and Palm - all lost market share.

As those three “other” players continue to work on reinventing themselves to keep up with the bar that Apple raised, Google, with its Android devices, is the only player that’s been able to challenge Apple’s sudden rise in dominance. In fact, the most recent numbers suggest that Google is not only growing faster than Apple and the others but is also gearing up to leapfrog over Apple’s No. 2 spot.

'Tangled' takes the lead with $5.1 mil on Friday

Tangled rid itself of any knots as it climbed to the top of the box office on Friday, grossing $5.1 million, according to early estimates. That’s a 74 percent drop from last Friday, which, mind you, was an enormous day for moviegoing. The PG animated musical should receive a decent bump on Saturday, as most family films do, and finish the weekend with about $21 million. In second place, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 1 descended 77 percent for $4.8 million on Friday. It’s on track for an $18 million weekend, which would bring its cumulative gross to $245 million. The rest of the top five consisted of leftovers. The Cher-Christina Aguilera musical Burlesque fell 56 percent for $2 million, while right on its heels was the R-rated romantic comedy Love and Other Drugs, which slipped only 48 percent for $2 million as well. (Burlesque is estimated to have earned $25,000 more than Love and Other Drugs on Friday). And in fifth place was the Denzel Washington action thriller Unstoppable, which skidded 59 percent for $1.9 million.

The weekend’s only new wide release, the martial-arts Western The Warrior’s Way, might as well start selecting its coffin. The R-rated film debuted in ninth place with $1.1 million. In limited release, however, things were much rosier. Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan, starring Natalie Portman, opened in 18 theaters and collected $426,000 for a stupendous per-location average of $23,667. The R-rated ballet-horror film could conclude the weekend with about $1.5 million, and the resulting $83,000 per-location average would be the second largest ever for a film playing in at least 10 theaters. (Only last year’s Precious, which debuted in 18 theaters and registered a $104,025 per-location average, ranks higher). And the historical drama The King’s Speech continued its royal run with $85,000 from six locations. Check back here on Sunday for the complete box office report.

Apple's iPhone 4 (legitimately) on sale for the first time: $50 off at Radio Shack

Missed out on Black Friday? Good on you. Now, still in the market for an iPhone 4? If so, you should probably point your vehicle to the nearest Radio Shack, STAT. For the first time since going on sale in June, Apple's iPhone 4 is legitimately on sale from a retailer that actually exists and won't sell your personal information to some goon in an offshore paradise you've never heard of. (No, Walmart's $2 savings doesn't count.) We're told that the $50-off sale is being done to ramp up awareness surrounding Radio Shack's (admittedly low-key) wireless business, and if we had to guess, we'd say it'll probably work to perfection. Ever since the handset began shipping this summer, the going rate was $199 (on contract) for the 16GB model or $299 (also on contract) for the 32GB flavor; this deal hacks $50 from each, and there's even an 8GB iPhone 3GS for $49 if you're looking to take things even lower. Better still, The Shack's offering a $75 trade-in credit on any functional / non-cracked iPhone 3G as well as $125 for a 3GS in like condition, meaning that you could walk in today, hand over your 3GS, and walk out with an iPhone 4 for $25 (plus activation fees). Naturally, the deal's only available in brick-and-mortar locations (read: not online), and the fun comes to a close on December 11th. So, who's in?

Mariah Carey pats her growing bump as she gets into the Christmas spirit at Disney World

She's made no secret of the down sides of pregnancy, talking about her swollen fingers, nausea and exhaustion. But it's clear Mariah Carey is thrilled with her growing bump, which she happily patted with a delighted smile on her face as she performed at Disney World today.

The singer, promoting her new Christmas album, was dressed in a little Santa outfit, which highlighted her baby bump. While she seemed full of energy onstage, Mariah has admitted her pregnancy hasn't been easy. 'Right now I feel nauseous, I'm exhausted,' she has admitted. But there was no sign of exhaustion as she jumped onstage.

Google’s Possible “+1″ iPhone App, Facebook Similarities, And Social “Loop” Groups

Since we broke the news a couple days ago that Google’s secret social project, formerly known as “Emerald Sea“, is now being called “Google +1″, we’ve gotten more confirmation about the naming. This includes people more confident that this could well be the name Google ends up going with. We’ve also heard a couple other new interesting tidbits about the project.

The first is that Google may be testing an iPhone app for +1, which would presumably launch alongside the web variation of the service. One source reports seeing a Google employee’s iPhone with an app called “Loop” on it. This was apparently Google’s social project in native app form. The source says that it looked similar to Facebook and had large portions that were still in development.

This is particularly interesting because we have heard that early iterations of Google +1 itself were much more similar to Facebook. But that version was supposedly scrapped in favor of a more all-web-encompassing toolbar approach (at least as it currently stands). So it’s possible that the app is a bit old, or that Google is thinking a bit differently about the social product on mobile devices.

Lily Allen steps out for the first time since she tragically lost her baby

Lily Allen made her return to the London night scene last night following her recent miscarriage. The singer attended a dinner party in the capital to celebrate the launch of Miu Miu's new flagship Bond Street store. She looked stylish in a black dress, which she teamed with heels and white three-quarter length coat.

Lily, 25, has been keeping a low profile of late following the tragic loss of her baby at the end of October. On October 30 she tweeted 'Say a little prayer.' The next day her publicist announced that she had lost the baby with boyfriend Sam Cooper, six months into her pregnancy. A few days later Allen tweeted: 'Thank you for all your kind messages.
