A Swift Backlash: Will Taylor's Album of the Year Grammy Hurt Her?

Taylor Swift has been the music industry's golden girl ever since Kanye West jumped on the stage at the VMAs and interrupted her win for best female video. (And maybe even before.)

But will her incredible run atop of everyone's lists end soon? Last night at the Grammys, Swift took home the album of the year Grammy, surprisingly beating out Lady Gaga and Beyonce. And Swift's 'Fearless' really pales in comparison to Gaga's 'The Fame' and Beyonce's 'I Am ... Sasha Fierce.'

Swift prides herself as being a country princess who writes all of her songs and plays the instruments to accompany them. (Kudos for that is surely deserved.) But when her album beats out those more deserving, and her live performances are clearly lacking, we wonder what will happen next.

Adam Lambert Turns 28 With...Lindsay Lohan?!

It was a good weekend for Adam Lambert!

Not only did the American Idol alum hit the Grammys on Sunday, he celebrated his 28th birthday Saturday night in style.

The singer threw a soiree at the Mondrian's ADCB restaurant for 100 family members and friends, including his mom, ex-beau Drake Labry and Lindsay Lohan.

So what exactly was Lindsay doing there?

It just so happens that Sam Ronson was deejaying the soiree. Coincidence? We think not.

In fact, our source doesn't even know if L.L. was actually invited.

"I think she knows Adam, but I don't get the vibe they are great pals," a source tells E! News. "She was of course friendly and nice to him, but I have a feeling it was more about Sam being there."

According to our source, Linds did talk to Sam for a bit, but things seemed more platonic and less romantic between the former flames.

Nice to see they can get through one night with no drama!

Windows 7 adoption swells, as XP suffers record drop

Mobile operating systems make more gains, Mac OS X up slightly

Microsoft's Windows 7 took just three months to reach a penetration benchmark that Vista needed almost a year to make, Web measurement firm NetApplications.com said today.

Windows 7 finished January with a 7.5% usage share, a mark the little-loved Windows Vista didn't attain until 11 months after its January 2007 debut.

"There's no slowing of the Windows 7 growth curve," said Vince Vizzaccaro, executive vice president with Net Applications, who also noted that on Sunday Microsoft's newest OS accounted for more than 10% of all machines that were online. Windows 7's share typically climbs on weekends and holidays, as more of the people online are running home computers, which are more likely to run the new operating system.

During January, Windows 7's weekly averages increased steadily from 7.2% to 7.4%, then to 7.6% and finally to 8% in the final week. For the month, Windows 7 was up 1.8 percentage points, its second-biggest one-month increase.

Windows 7 Running on the Apple iPad via Citrix

Trumpets playing, bloody moons, seas of fire, cats cohabiting with dogs, and Windows 7 running on the Apple iPad right on the day it launches. That's how the Universe ends, my dearly beloved, and you can blame Citrix for it:

It turns out the 9.7 inch display on the iPad with a 1024x768 screen resolution works great for a full VDI XenDesktop. Windows applications run unmodified and securely in the data center, and even multiple applications at once.

The iPhone restrictions of screen size and small keyboards are overcome with the iPad. The iPad looks to be an ideal end-point device that can empower users to be productive wherever they are and IT will be able to safely deliver company-hosted virtual desktops and apps without worry.

Lee Hyori teams up with 4minute’s Jiyoon & After School’s Bekah

Sexy singer Lee Hyori is making a comeback very soon with her fourth album with a special surprise!

On the album, there is a song titled Bring It Back, which reportedly features Hyori’s hoobae idols 4minute’s Jiyoon and After School’s Bekah.

Many idols these days have girl crushes on look up to Lee Hyori, so this was undoubtedly a great experience for those all three ladies. The song has been placed under the genre of hip-hop. Because, powerful rapping was needed for the track, Hyori ended up collaborating with Jiyoon and Bekah.

The album will be out towards the end of February or the beginning of March. She has chosen her title track and is working hard for her comeback.

SNSD dubbed the top kpop girl group of Korea

After releasing their title track Oh! on the 25th, SNSD/Girl’s Generation has been holding onto the #1 spot on online music charts for the past week, which isn’t at all surprising considering the fact that they sold 30k albums on the first day. Now, the girls have been dubbed the “Top Girl Group” in Korea.

A representative of the music portal site Monkey3 said, “Last week, girl group SNSD climbed to the #1 spot. Their hot track Oh! might stay that way for a while now. But the girls do have some competition because 2AM’s ballad track is receiving great praise as well.”

As for the rest of the rankings…

Don’t Think Chrome OS Will Compete With iPad? Watch This Video

Late last week, I wrote a post about how netbooks running Chrome OS and the iPad were on a collision course. Some people took exception to that, noting the iPad was only a touchscreen device while Chrome OS was created to be used with more traditional computing form factors, like netbooks and laptops. But there’s a new concept video that has surfaced on a Chromium Project page that very much shows how the two could and should compete head-on in the touch tablet space.

Again, this is just a concept video at this point, but it clearly shows what the people building Chrome OS are thinking about for future products. Oh, and in case you’re worried that since Chromium OS is an open source project, this is just some random person making these videos that Google is unlikely to use for Chrome OS, they were made by Glen Murphy, a Googler working on Chrome (with a sense of humor).

A First Taste Of What The Google Tablet Interface Will Look Like (Pics)

Last week, the world saw Apple’s long anticipated tablet device, the iPad, for the first time. In the aftermath since that announcement, a few things have become clear: it will be great for some people, but its apparent lack of flexibility (at least in its first iteration) may leave something to be desired. It’s increasingly looking like the best alternative will be Google’s Chrome OS, which is clearly on a collision course with the iPad. And tonight, we’ve come across some very impressive mockups of what Chrome OS may look like on a tablet form factor.

The photos have been posted to the official Chromium site (Chromium is the open source project behind Chrome and ChromeOS). And while Chromium is not actually part of Google, it appears that these mockups were put together by Glen Murphy, Google Chrome’s designer. In other words, there’s a good chance that the final version of Chrome OS will resemble this.

Grammy Ratings Get A Boost From Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson Tribute

Awards show draws 26.6 million viewers, up 35 percent from last year.

It should be no surprise that major wins and performances by some of last year's biggest-selling artists helped lift the ratings for Sunday night's 52nd annual Grammy Awards.

A buzz-inducing performance from Lady Gaga and Elton John, a stunning aerial show from Pink and talked-about nominations for Taylor Swift and Beyoncé helped boost ratings by 35 percent over last year's show. Variety reported that, according to Nielsen, the telecast drew approximately 26.6 million viewers, the highest numbers since the 2004 show.

Kristen Stewart & Friends Are Vanity Fair's New Hollywood

It's that time of year when Vanity Fair features a bunch of young, fresh-faced actresses all hanging out, looking pretty.

For their March 2010 cover, the mag rounded up nine lucky ladies for the annual Hollywood Issue. Kristen Stewart is obviously the most recognizable, so who are the rest of these people? Let's do it from left to right:

Alleged Ryan Phillippe-stealer Abbie Cornish; the always adorable (and Shia LaBeouf GF) Carey Mulligan; Amanda Seyfried, who looks so over these VF shoots; Rebecca Hall; Alice in Wonderland's Mia Wasikowska; fiery redhead Emma Stone; that's moody Evan Rachel Wood back there; and finally, Anna Kendrick gets shoved into the corner.

Will Barbara Grill Rob on The View?

Leave it to the ladies of The View to get to the bottom of Robsten.

Yes, we know many of you are in an uproar over our earlier item about how Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are switching into work mode right now instead of romance mode. Again, we didn't say they're dunzo. Just that R & K are getting a lot of heat to cool off on the love stuff right now (more on that tomorrow).

But don't take our word for it. Now that Rob has been confirmed to appear on The View on March 2 (to promote Remember Me) we couldn't be more thrilled, as we think these ladies are exactly who's needed to finally get some dirt outta Rob and Kristen.

Especially if…

Apple rumored to be working on another larger tablet, possibly based on Mac OS X

Those wanting to get their hands on an iPad have a 60 day wait starting from last Thursday, but a rumor has surfaced that Apple is said to be developing a more advanced tablet model. The new model is said to be much larger in dimensions, and more likely to run software akin to Mac OS X instead of the iPhone OS. Oh, and it would launch within the year. iPad buyers may possibly want to wait this out.

According to MG Siegler over at Techcrunch, he’s corroborated some of the main details with several sources, although like every other piece of juicy news, this also should be taken with a grain of salt.

Facebook Now Has Yahoo In Its Sites, Already Bigger In Pageviews (ComScore)

Facebook is well on its way to taking Yahoo’s spot as the third largest Web property in the world. (Google and Microsoft are No. 1 and No. 2, respectively). Last summer Facebook took the No. 4 spot globally, displacing AOL, but according to comScore there was still an estimated 241 million unique visitors a month separating it from the No. 3 site, Yahoo. In December, 2009, that gap narrowed to 125 million unique visitors globally. (That was also the same month Facebook passed AOL in the U.S. to take the No. 4 spot domestically).

In December, 2009, Facebook attracted 469 million unique visitors, up an incredible 31 million visitors from the month before. To put that in perspective, in a single month Facebook gained as many new visitors as Yahoo did all year. That one-month gain was also the equivalent of adding as many people as all of Digg or half of Twitter.com. Meanwhile, Yahoo lost 7 million unique visitors from November to December to end the year at 594 million unique visitors. (In the U.S., Yahoo is a stronger No. 2 after Google, with 161 million uniques in December, compared to 173 million for Google, 138 million for Microsoft, and 112 Million for Facebook).

10-inch EROS Tablet demoed, navigating through Windows 7 by touch [Video]

Mentioned a couple of weeks ago, the EROS tablet created by the Chinese is given a video demo of sorts today, as we see it pulling its little self together in the eleven minute long video. Performance looks to be on par of an Intel Atom powered netbook. Well that and the sub 2-hr battery life.

The touchscreen display seems to be fairly responsive to both writing by a stylus as well as flicking photo shots and pages in a comic e-book. Although the stylus is given much more time than the reviewer’s own digits, revealing that Windows 7 is a far cry from being truly digit-friendly.

Microsoft’s implementation of Windows 7 menus may not be the best suited to a touchscreen interface. Mac OS X maybe another story, as evinced here. Will we soon have a purely finger-driven tablet device running an actual well-to-do OS?

Fusion Garage says Joojoo pre-orders went up after iPad announcement, new funding on the way

FusionGarage may have thrown a few PayPal rules to the wind with its early Joojoo pre-orders, but it looks like they may have paid off for the company (assuming they actually go through). In an interview with SGEntrepreneurs, Fusion Garage CEO Chandra Rathakrishnan says that orders for the device actually went up following Apple's iPad announcement, although he unsurprisingly didn't reveal any actual numbers. Chandra did drop a few other interesting details, however, including word that the company with soon announce a partnership with a "major mobile phone player" that has a "significant" market share in Southeast Asia, and who will also supposedly take care of the manufacturing cost of the Joojoo. That's on top of an announcement of a new round of funding, which apparently totals somewhere south of $10 million. Still no word of a firm ship date for the device, of course, which still stands at the same 8-10 weeks that it did more than a month ago.

Alienware M11x Available for Preorder Now, Shipping March 1

Dell’s gaming arm is introducing some heft into the pipsqueak world of netbooks with its M11x system, which was introduced at CES a couple of weeks ago. Alienware won’t call the laptop the “n” word, but it’s clearly marketing it to those who find the usual Atom-based portable lacking in the ability to play games more visually complicated than Solitaire.

Though the M11x won’t be available until March 1, Dell has decided to let folks pre-order the machine on its site. The base config is priced at $799, which includes an Intel Pentium SU4100 1.3GHz processor, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, a 160GB hard drive, and Windows 7 Home Premium. Most notable is the new nVidia GeForce GT 335M graphics card with 1GB of graphics memory, which will power the 11.6-inch LED-backlit display. Dell claims that the M11x will deliver “the graphics power of a 15-inch laptop in an 11-inch form factor.”

Raymond Lam on his relationship with Linda Chung: We are not in contact

Ever since their famed collaboration as onscreen sweethearts in the epic Heart of Greed and Moonlight Resonance, the media has been abuzz over Raymond Lam's relationship with his co-star, Linda Chung. Previously rumoured to have spent two years pursuing her, Raymond puts his foot down and clears the air.

"We are not in contact," he flatly replied with a smile.

When reporters asked if he would like to experience an exciting romance this year, Raymond laughed and said, "Saying that makes me want to sigh."

"It is actually very normal for young people to be in a relationship. But all these media attention adds on additional stress. I try to immerse myself in work so that I do not have time to think about this (romance)."

Also present at the interview is Hong Kong TVB actress Chen Fala, 28. As Raymond's colleague and co-star in Moonlight Resonance, she nodded in agreement and believes that it is best "to leave things in the hands of fate" as such matters "cannot be forced".

What You Didn't See: Best Grammy Twitter Photos

Between all the amazing performances, tributes and awards, celebrities took time to have fun with their famous friends (and idols) at the 2010 Grammy Awards. Uploading backstage photos to Twitter, stars shared the fun stuff we didn't see on TV.

At right, Weird Al Yankovic made sure to capture his wife's "blinging" sparkles next to 'American Idol' runner-up, Adam Lambert. "Oh, snap! My wife just got out-sparkled!" Yankovic tweeted. http://twitpic.com/10t0nu

Everyone from Rihanna to Katy Perry and Lil Wayne got caught in some "tweet" moments backstage at the Grammy Awards. Here are the top TwitPics from the show

War of Words Between Apple and Adobe Heats Up

There's been no love lost between Apple and Adobe for a while now, ever since Apple decided to not allow Flash on the iPhone. But since the iPad was announced with an equal lack of Flash, things have gotten ugly.

First, Adobe posted a screed about how lame it was that Apple wasn't including Flash on the iPad. Then, Steve Jobs himself called Adobe "lazy" and blaming Flash for most Mac crashes. Now, Adobe is back to its Flash blog with another salvo.

First, they address and attempt to debunk the various reasons Apple has for blacklisting Flash. Then, they go for the heart of the matter:

Chrome snatches share from IE, Firefox

Google's browser makes 5% mark as most rivals see usage share slip

Google's Chrome gained browser market share in January at the expense of both Microsoft's Internet Explorer and IE's biggest rival, Mozilla's Firefox, according to data published today.

Chrome, which only recently grabbed the No. 3 spot from Apple's Safari, ended January with a share of 5.2%, up 0.6 of a percentage point, said Web metrics company NetApplications.com. The increase, although slightly less than Chrome's jump during December, was the browser's second-largest since Google debuted the program in September 2008. Chrome has doubled its share since July 2009.

IE, meanwhile, lost half a percentage point to end January with a share of 62.2%, another record low in a long decline that cost Microsoft's browser 10% of its share in the past year alone. If IE maintains the pace of the last three months, the browser will slip below the 50% mark in April 2011.

Finally TWINS is back together, this coming April they will be stepping into Hong Kong Coliseum for a concert. I hope that it will be one lively and crazy concert. Currently we are recording for the concert theme song and another slow song."

I am rumored with the driver!" She expressed that that day she was shopping at a department store and the driver was helping her. Ah Sa said: "My driver joked that he needs to share this with his wife because he's really poor, but can still be a Children Senior Official."

KAT-TUN's New Single Promotion Started!

Recently, KAT-TUN members are being active in dramas and movies individually. However, their new single "Love yourself ~君が嫌いな君が好き~" is going to release on February 10th. Members believe "This work will send our own messages" and it is also the theme song of the drama starring Kamenashi Kazuya "ヤマトナデシコ七変化 / Yamatonadeshiko Shichihenge (The Wallflower)"

As Kamenashi reported in his blog, "This is Kamenashi Kazuya! The promotion activity of our new song is officially started! That's for today." Finally KAT-TUN seems to begin their movement. Though there are still a few days to go before the release date, what kind of activity they will have is more than attractive.

Katy Perry and Russell Brand: Naked Wedding?

It’s one of the most-talked-about engagements in recent memory, and Katy Perry and Russell Brand are already getting started on their wedding plans.

But according to the “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” stud, they won’t be divulging any specifics anytime soon.

Brand joked, “We are going to do the wedding naked! All the families will be naked! We’re still deciding what to do. There’s no juicy details yet.”

Russell continued, “All my dream weddings don’t make sense. The vicar will start melting. The people in the front row will turn into people from my school. And then everyone will only say the word ‘potato.’

Taylor Swift and Cory Monteith: New Couple Alert?

At last night's Grammy Awards, Taylor Swift took home four trophies, including Album of the Year.

But the blogosphere is buzzing today about the person that may have accompanied Swift home after such a successful night: Glee cast member Cory Monteith.

The pair were spotted together at Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party, looking as happy and cozy as any new couple. This is the second time in a week the adorable stars dined together, as witnesses also spotted them at Jerry's Deli on January 28.

Zune Phone set to debut at MWC with Tegra

The rumors of a Zune phone have been bandied back and forth around the web since the iPhone launched years ago. It’s hard to believe that after all this time Microsoft still hasn’t rolled out a Zune Phone. A new rumor is circulating that claims the Zune Phone will hit this month.

Spanish tech site MuyComptuer reports that the Zune Phone will launch at MWC this month. The publication claims that the rumor is 100% confirmed and that the device will be using NVIDIA Tegra inside.

Gizmodo reckons that if the Spanish publications say the rumor is 100% confirmed, it is. The Zune Phone is said to have a 480 x 272 screen, HDMI out, and weigh about 2.45 ounces and run Windows Mobile 7. The WinMo 7 OS has previously been rumored to debut at MWC this month and the Zune Phone would make a great flagship device for the launch.

Facebook COO: 175 Million People Log Into Facebook Every Day

Last year we interviewed Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. This year we interviewed her again. Notably, this time I brought a tripod with me and didn’t cut off Sheryl’s forehead.

A year ago Facebook had 150 million users, and more than 200 million people visited the site monthly. I noted “You realize it’s like 1 in 5 people in the world that are on the internet visit Facebook.” Sandberg replied, joking “So we have 4 in 5 more to go.”

The thing is, they’re well on their way to getting those other 4. Facebook has more than doubled in size to 350 million registered users in the last year. By this summer well over half of all Internet users will likely visit Facebook each month.

Samsung’s Bada OS gets good response from carriers, Bada phone coming at MWC

Samsung has reportedly presented its newly-announced Bada operating system to mobile carriers around the globe and, according to Kim Hyung-do (Samsung’s vice president for strategic planning), the company has received good response from carriers.

And speaking of carriers, Samsung has just announced that its first Bada phone (Bada S8200, maybe?) will be showcased at MWC 2010 (15-18 February), which means that it might be available starting this spring.

Unsurprisingly, Bada OS will include the latest version of Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, which comes with “chic touch interaction and components to increase its simplicity and ease of use.”

Bada OS aside, Samsung plans to launch an Android 2.1 smartphone in the first half of this year. As for Windows Mobile, it looks like Samsung will further reduce its dependency on it – as we’ve previously reported.

Here’s BoA and Miura Diachi’s performance of ‘Possibility’ at the Billboard Japan Music Awards. (Note: there’s a little flub in the beginning of the performance, due to the band’s error. They played the song from the middle instead of the beginning. If you wish to skip the mix-up in the beginning, jump to 2:35 on the vid.):
