Jay Chou and Jiang Yu Chen's Hotel Photos Revealed Their Relationship

When photos that featured what looks like the American hotel where Taiwanese singer Jay Chou is staying were posted on the blog of his rumoured girlfriend Jiang Yu Chen, it once again set off buzz about their supposed relationship. Two years into the rumour mill, neither party has yet to admit that they are seeing each other.


For more than three months now, Jay has been in America shooting his upcoming movie. The photos of the hotel posted up by Jay's friends appear identical to those Yu Chen placed on her blog and were uploaded at almost the same time. The two sets of photos had the sofa, lights and curtains in similar colours and design.

Yu Chen has removed the photos, but this has spurred readers of her blog to speculate that the two are staying in the same hotel room, and that Yu Chen has "upgraded" to be "Jay's other half".

However, Jay's record company JVR Music clarified the issue yesterday, saying, "The readers are really imaginative."

Yu Chen's record company, JuicyMusic, also commented that "Many hotels have similar room features, and it would be pretty farfetched if we were to say that both set of photos shows the same hotel. Furthermore, the company does not interfere with artistes' personal schedule. If Yu Chen likes to share her photos on her blog, the company will not respond to her private matters."

Talk about their relationship has never ceased since they were spotted playing basketball together in April 2007. Yu Chen also recorded a song in Jay's movie, Secret, and was also featured in one of Jay's MV from his new album soon after.

Yu Chen was also seen cruising around in a BMW with the license plate number consisting of her birth date, said to be a birthday gift from Jay to her, and there have been reports of her driving into Jay's residential area. In 2008, Yu Chen was said to have followed Jay on a holiday tour in America, but she denies the allegation.

Ken Chu has finally come clean on his relationship with Kelly Lin after long refuting speculations that they were seeing each other. The Taiwanese singer-actor said that his previous actions were an attempt to protect her from the media.

"Put it in this way. Regardless of whether the fact is established or not, as a man, I have the responsibility of protecting the woman. My stand is to prevent the girl from getting hurt, this is my responsibility as a man."

He described his girlfriend to be "really good, very nice and very pretty."

The pair was previously spotted donning matching couple pajamas when they were looking out from a window for the presence of paparazzi. Both parties later took turns giving off vague statements to dodge the press's incessant questions on their rumoured relationship.

Asked if he had any plans to get hitched, Ken said, "I have [marriage plans] every year."

When reporters cited Kelly's past interview where she shared her hopes of having two children, Ken noncommittally replied, "She said that she wanted to have two children, but she did not say that she wanted to have the children with me.

"I did mention that I wanted to get married, but I did not say that I wanted to marry her. [If we say that] we are not together, it just means that we are not together!"

Marked more by its story than its design, the Joojoo tablet is somewhat of a mythical (and controversial) beast. So when we got a phone call to see it for ourselves with Fusion Garage CEO Chandra Rathakrishnan, we jumped at the opportunity. Turns out it's quite a capable little device, and chief among its feats so far seems to be smooth 1080p YouTube playback. Seriously, we were quite impressed with just how crisp and lag-free it was, at least for the Avatar trailer we tested. Throw in a Webkit-based browser with Silverlight and Flash support (why hello there, Hulu), and yeah, we're pretty pumped. Read on for more impressions.


The device itself is thin and lightweight. It's not much of a stretch to label the design of it "oversized iPhone," and of course with it we're reminded that an all-glass front panel tends to attract enough fingerprints to satisfy any aspiring gumshoe. The 12.1-inch display boasts 1366 x 768 resolution, and in the time we had last night, the viewing angles are very forgiving. Ports are minimal -- one USB 2.0 input, one power input, and some audio / headset jacks. External keyboard, mice, and headset are supported via USB and Bluetooth.

The home screen is a series of large shortcuts and a side bar for settings,search, and the ever-vigilant timekeeper. The background changed colors about every minute, and Rathakrishnan explained that you could instead just have it set to one color -- that green tint is not something set in stone, no worries. Getting back to the screen is a simple matter of pinching when you're in a browser window -- and be sure to keep that in mind, pinching does not in this case zoom out. Pinching from homescreen takes you to a series of open tabs you can skim through before you make a final pick.

On hand was also the near-final packaging. It seems almost ridiculously long, about thrice the length of the tablet itself, but we do give points for the clever design. Inside is also the power brick, but that's it for included supplies -- even the documentation is to be written on a translucent sticker for the display cover.



Our two major concerns with Joojoo right now are ones Rathakrishnan promises will be fixed before launch. First one is home screen notifications, which we were unable to see -- having a screen of shortcuts is nice and all, but if Apple has taught us anything, the least we can want is some form of numerical indication that our favorite social networking site has new messages for us. We're told it can be implemented by developers using the API. The other one is a biggie, and it's something very noticeable in the videos: touch sensitivity is pretty bad. Using the virtual keyboard proved to be far too painful, and we're pretty sure it wasn't multitouch-friendly. Worth noting is a built-in webcam for video conferencing but at the moment no Skype support since there isn't a more Webkit-friendly client.

Rathakrishnan was kind enough to answer a few questions about the Arrington-shaped elephant in the room. He remains adamant that the TechCrunch founder and company did not contribute any code to the project, and that their involvement was virtually nonexistent. What he wouldn't talk about, unfortunately, was what's actually powering the machine -- that'll be announced in "due course," but we do know it has a dedicated GPU and, based on what we saw, it does its job very well. Storage isn't expandable, but at the same time there isn't much here that you'll be able to save locally anyhow.

At $500 and a with web-focused design, the Joojoo's biggest rival seems to be mid-range netbooks like the Asus Eee PC 1201N, and until we can see the specs inside, giving up a physical keyboard is a bit of a challenge here. Cautiously optimistic is the best way we can put it for now, but we are itching to get some more time with it. The first shipments should be going out eight to ten weeks after the initial December 11th pre-orders, and international territories sometime early next year.








Samsung bada OS – more details unveiled

As expected, today Samsung unveiled more details about its new bada smartphone OS.


Based on Samsung’s already-known TouchWiz UI, bada should offer “an easy, simple, and intuitive UI without compromising efficiency.”

The platform supports sensor-based, context-aware applications, and provides stuff like motion sensing, web control, flash control, fine-tuned vibration control and face detection.

Samsung bada will support lots of features, including: location-based services, social networking, content management, commerce services and device synchronization.

Samsung says that bada’s flexibility will allow it to be deployed on a large number of devices.

“In providing Samsung bada, I believe that Samsung will become a true leader in the mobile industry, offering a wider range of smartphone choices for consumers. At the same time, Samsung bada presents a powerful opportunity for developers to get their applications onto an unprecedented number of Samsung devices across the world,” declared Dr Hosoo Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of the Media Solution Center at Samsung Electronics.

Several companies announced their support for Samsung bada, including: Twitter, Blockbuster, EA Mobile, CAPCOM and Gameloft.

“Mobile social media continues to go from strength to strength and we’re always keen to help make it easier for people to Tweet on the move. Samsung handsets are truly ubiquitous across the globe and it’s always a pleasure to be putting Twitter onto more and more smartphones. We share Samsung’s vision of smartphones for everybody and giving more and more people full access to the full mobile app experience,” said launch,” said Kevin Thau, Head of Mobile, Twitter.

As previously mentioned, the first Samsung bada phone will be launched in the first half of 2010, with more models to come in the second half.

The Michael Jackson Painting Everyone's Talking About

If you ever wondered what type of art Michael Jackson was into, you're now getting your first glimpse as to what adorned the King of Pop's walls, and it has people talking. The painting, which can be seen in 'Michael Jackson Opus: The Ultimate Celebration of an Icon,' shows a bare chested Jackson -- nude save for a properly placed sheet around his groin -- surrounded by cherubic angels. The multi-ethnic group of angels -- all male -- are placing flows in Jackson's hair as he gazes off into the distance. Still, one expert defends Jackson despite many crying foul about the painting.

David Nordahl, who painted the angel painting titled 'Michael' and many others for Jackson upon demand, said that the King of Pop "thought it was great with a little 'tongue-in-cheek' flavor," according to The New York Post.

Ian Halperin, who penned the best-selling Jackson biography 'Unmasked: The Final Years of Michael Jackson," tells PopEater that "Apparently, there are at least 75 other such artworks that ... have yet to be revealed in public. The family, from what my sources tell me, are not thrilled at all by the release of these portraits."

The Post went on to call the painting "weird" in its headline, leading with the line: "Thank heaven for little boys." Similarly, The Huffington Post declares the painting "creepy."

No matter how the press or fans view the paintings, Halperin says people shouldn't start reaching for analogies with the painting.

"I firmly stand by what I wrote in my bestseller last summer that in no shape or form was Michael a child molester. He was a victim of ruthless attempts to extort him out of the fortune he worked relentlessly over the years to amass," Halperin says about the painting and how some may construe it.

Other paintings that Nordahl did cast Jackson in the light of Peter Pan, King Arthur and a superhero.

Korea's Ministry of culture, sports and tourism was serious when they stated that they were in full support of spreading K-pop and Korea to the world! We reported early this morning that f(x) and Epik High would be attending MIDEM to put on a K-pop showcase and now it seems other artists are pushing this movement as well.


SNSD + Super Junior have teamed up to create a song about Seoul, Korea. One of the coolest cities in the world, if I might add... the food, culture, shopping, and most importantly the $2 bottles of soju make me love visiting Korea!

Dell Vostro V13 is $450, .65 inches thick, available 'worldwide' today (update: video!)

You had to know Dell's comically secretive product launch strategy would eventually break down, and here we go: although the company is teasing an "unnamed $450 Vostro" to US media, Dell Singapore has just gone ahead and launched the thing officially as the Vostro V13, complete with specs. Oops. While Dell PR tries to put out that fire, we can dance in the rubble and tell you that Dell's putting everything it learned building the Adamo XPS to some more practical use in the .65-inch thick, sub-3.5-pound V13, which packs either a 1.2GHz Celeron, 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo or 1.4GHz Core 2 Solo with integrated X4500MHD graphics under that 13.3-inch screen. Sure, the design isn't as wild as the Adamo XPS, but the extra thickness means that it can accommodate an Ethernet port, along with eSATA, USB, an SD card slot and even a freaking ExpressCard slot. HTC Bravo pictured more lucidly (Update: coming to US in January as HTC Passion)

We realize we might have overfed you a little with that plentiful leak of HTC's 2010 plans, so here's a chance to better ogle and digest HTC's "Performance" flagship to be: the Bravo. Pairing Android with Qualcomm's 1GHz Snapdragon and presenting a 3.7-inch AMOLED facade, this certainly ticks the headline boxes, and the addition of a five megapixel AF cam capable of 720p video capture gives it an extra sheen of 2010 newness. The picture above is accompanied by less solid info indicating a 1,400mAh battery, which will be joined by the mandatory WiFi, Bluetooth and MicroUSB connectivity, plus MicroSD expansion, FM radio tuner, digital compass, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Then again, the source is the same bunch of heroes responsible for our extra early -- and accurate -- info on the HD2, so those specs may be considered pretty reliable. Oh, if you're wondering about the touchscreen, it's capacitive, like it should be.

Update: If you were wondering about the difference between the Bravo and the recently leaked Passion, there is none other than the branding apparently. We're also hearing that the above handset will be available in the US in January, a cool three months ahead of the expected European release.

Blackpool has seen plenty of changes since last hosting the Royal Variety Show more than 50 years ago. But none as noticeable as the performers on the bill.


Last night the Queen and Prince Philip were entertained by a leather-clad Lady Gaga, a stomach-baring X Factor winner and a 17-year-old in miniscule hotpants.

Back in 1955 the scene was a lot more restrained, with Morecambe and Wise, Arthur Askey and George Formby amusing their Royal audience.


Gaga arrived on stage to close the show wearing a red leather dress with a 20ft long red train. She teamed the outfit with huge circles of red eye make-up, for a panda-style look.

Her dress appeared to be inspired by Queen Elizabeth I, with an oversized ruffle at the neck.

The Poker Face singer performed Speechless - the song she wrote for her father Joseph, who suffers from a heart condition.


High-energy performances of her number one single Bad Boys, along with her packed days touring, appear to have helped her achieve an impressive midriff.

In her gold American football outfit, with padded shoulders and black leather heels, Alexandra gave a spirited performance.

But it was 17-year-old Miley Cyrus who wore the most daring outfit of the night.



Eminem Slamming Gay Artists On “Elevator?”

Perhaps Marshall’s infamous homophobia isn’t just a distant memory, after all. “Elevator,” the latest release from Em’s recently re-released LP Relapse: Refill, is garnering a plenty of negative buzz on the Interwebs amid allegations that the rapper takes a secret stab at homosexuals.


The allegation is that Eminem uses a play on words in order to refer to openly gay crooners Lance Bass, Clay Aiken, and Adam Lambert as the “F-Word.” Here’s the verse in question:

“Sorry, Lance, Mr. Lambert and Aiken ain’t gonna make it/ They get so mad, when I call them both fake/ It’s all these fucking voices in my head, I can’t take it/ Someone shut that fucking baby up, before I shake it.”

Some people are suggesting that the phrase “fake it’s” is Em’s creative way of saying “f@**ots.”
