Apple iSlate tablet: involved teams in “cone of silence”?

We’re still hearing rumors of a January 26th launch for the much-discussed Apple Tablet, and according to the latest from oft-insider Josh Gruber of Daring Fireball, all the signs are coming together for just such an unveil. Gruber highlights the fact that “everyone working on it has dropped off the map”, something which last happened in the run up to the original iPhone’s announcement back in early 2007; in fact, many of the people who have now gone into stealth mode are the same engineers and software teams responsible for the iPhone Mail, Calendar, and Safari apps.

Gruber describes it as a “cone of silence”, and it’s one that – despite talk of Apple discussing ebook and other deals with publishers – even content partners might be kept out of. Apparently Apple goes into such meetings without prototypes, mock-ups, designs or even verbal confirmation that such a product is in the works; instead, they merely ask if the would-be partner is interested in getting involved “if we were to create a new platform”.

As for the potential functionality, Gruber reckons predictions of a Kindle rival, overgrown iPod touch or simply an HD media viewer all miss the point: the Apple iSlate (as we expect it to be called) will be all those and more. Apple may illustrate its purpose – set its context to potential buyers, as it were – by highlighting two or three key uses, just as they did with the iPhone, but the iSlate won’t be limited to any such small subset.

G-Dragon’s tears were a mistake

It seems like Big Bang G-Dragon didn't cry on purpose after all. Some of you might have thought he had the tears during his performance of Heartbreaker at the SBS Gayo Daejun as an additional detail of the performance but that's not the case. Some other people thought he was crying about all the controversies he went through in 2009.

But those tears had no absolutely no meaning as now there's been clarification on the whole incident. Before he started singing, he was placed in a box with a "G" on it. It came down and he popped out of it as his entrance but in the box, there was so much smoke, that he couldn't help but shed some tears.

He started to tear up because of the smoke but couldn't wipe it before the performance so it looked like he was just sentimental on stage. Then for Gossip Man, he wiped off the tears and finished the song.

So there you have it. G-Dragon is not a cry baby. But to be honest, the tears made his performance more memorable.

Rainie Yang and Show Luo get lubby dubby for “In Your Eyes” MV!

Shortly after Alien Huang released his rock melody “Screwed Up” MV, his famous ex-girlfriend Rainie Yang and best buddy/fellow 100% Entertainment co-host Show Luo pair up in the lubby dubby-filled MV for the track “In Your Eyes” (EDIT: for our non-North American readers, “lubby dubby” is slang for extremely sentimental love). The song is the second track to be released in MV form off of Rainie Yang’s soon-to-be-released-tomorrow album “Rainie & Love”.

The saccharine-filled MV, which was to be expected from the cute, puppy love lyrics of the target song. As such, the MV plays it safe with a by-the-numbers cute puppy love MV rulebook. Since the duo are also the leads to their latest idol drama “Hi My Sweetheart”, the MVserves as a commercial vehicle for their rom-com extravaganza with obligatory inserted scenes from the show.

There are still some interesting things to note in the MV though. For one, Show’s hair is noticeably shorter in the front, which is a slight shift from the Asian idol trademark hair that sweeps down at an angle. Also, Rainie Yang sports parted hair and a balled up pony tail hair style while wearing a baggy hoodie, a mainstay look with frequent 100% Entertainment guest co-host Butterfly Jie Jie. Everything’s so familiar, yet so not.

With this recent duet by the two popular Taiwanese entertainers, one has to ask if their latest collaboration is up to snuff with other famous Mandopop guy-girl duet songs. Will it be as well-known as Will Pan/Zhang Xiang Zhi’s “Bu De Bu Ai” ballad? Are people going to queue up this song in KTVs as much as Jolin Tsai/David Tao’s “Marry Me Today” song? Is this song going to bombard the airwaves like Genie Cho/Alien Huang’s “Ai De Zhu Xuan Lu” tune? The slip from my fortune cookie says no, but then fortune cookie sayings were clearly written to be humorous by appending them with “in bed” (EDIT: for our non-North American readers, fortune cookies are…umm, just Wikipedia it).

Rainie and Show’s latest musical outing isn’t be destined to be the next duet masterpiece, but the MV has the star power of Taiwan’s currently hottest celebrity pairing, and the song is a formulaic cute love melody guaranteed to satisfy fans from both Rainie and Show camps. Put another way, this MV’s pretty much like eating candy: it won’t fill you up, but it’ll satisfy your cravings temporarily until it’s time for the good stuff.

TVXQ's revenue for 2009 was estimated at ₩ 127,340,000,000 (around $109.1 million US dollars). ₩ 91,200,000,000 came from album sales, ₩ 35,940,000,000 came from concerts, and around ₩ 2,000,000,000 came from advertisements to come up with the total revenue. This coinciding with the news that TVXQ was the #3 earner in Japan is great news for the boys.

Looking at all the money they generated it seems there should be plenty of money to go around, unfortunately there's big turmoil with SM Entertainment. Hopefully, it can all be resolved soon.

HTC to debut a new touchscreen tablet at CES 2010?

Forget the iSlate, an unconfirmed rumor suggests that HTC may have multiple models of a new touchscreen tablet, a device that the Taiwanese handset manufacturer has been secretly working on for the last 18 months, ready for debut. One model of the rumored tablet will feature a Qualcomm processor (Snapdragon?), a touchscreen display (multi-touch?), new software from Adobe (Flash?) and will run Android. The tablet will reportedly be shown to a select group of HTC customers at a private showing next week during CES. HTC has been working closely with Google in the development of the tablet and is expected to roll out a second model of the touchscreen tablet with Google’s Chrome OS. Slap some wireless 3G connectivity onto these slates and HTC may win the prize as the manufacturer with the hottest portfolio in 2010.

Wipe The Slate Clean For 2010, Commit Web 2.0 Suicide

Are you tired of living in public, sick of all the privacy theater the social networks are putting on, and just want to end it all online? Now you can wipe the slate clean with the Web 2.0 Suicide Machine. (Warning: This will really delete your online presence and is irrevocable). Just put in your credentials for Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, or LinkedIn and it will delete all your friends and messages, and change your username, password, and photo so that you cannot log back in.

The site is actually run by Moddr, a New Media Lab in Rotterdam, which execute the underlying scripts which erase your accounts. The Web 2.0 Suicide Machine is a digital Dr. Kevorkian. On Facebook, for instance, it removes all your friends one by one, removes your groups and joins you to its own “Social Network Suiciders,” and lets you leave some last words. So far 321 people have used the site to commit Facebook suicide. On Twitter, it deletes all of your Tweets, and removes all the people you follow and your followers. It doesn’t actually delete these accounts, it just puts them to rest.

The Web 2.0 Suicide Machine runs a python script which launches a browser session and automates the process of disconnecting from these social networks (here is a video showing how this works with Twitter). You can even watch the virtual suicide in progress via a Flash app which shows it as a remote desktop session. You can watch your online life pass away one message at a time. Taking over somebody else’s account via an automated script, even with permission, may very well be against the terms of service of these social networks.

From the FAQs:

If I start killing my 2.0-self, can I stop the process?
No!

If I start killing my 2.0-self, can YOU stop the process?
No!

What shall I do after I’ve killed myself with the web2.0 suicide machine?
Try calling some friends, take a walk in a park or buy a bottle of wine and start enjoying your real life again. Some Social Suiciders reported that their lives has improved by an approximate average of 25%. Don’t worry, if you feel empty right after you committed suicide. This is a normal reaction which will slowly fade away within the first 24-72 hours.

The light-hearted video below explains the benefits of committing Web 2.0 Suicide and disconnecting from “so many people you don’t really care about.” Unplugging from your social life online will leave you more time for your real life, which you’ve probably been neglecting. With the Web 2.0 Suicide Machine, you can “sign out forever.” Not that we are recommending you do this in any way. But you may enjoy the video.

Joe Jonas & Demi Lovato Up the Romance in Camp Rock 2

Best pals Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato are headed back to the small screen for more singing and dancing in the Disney Channel sequel, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. But this time around, expect more onscreen love interests – and romances to be taken to the next level.

"There's a lot more romance with my character and even with Nick's character," Joe Jonas told PEOPLE about the highly anticipated film airing next summer. "The romance, the singing and dancing – everything is bigger and better."

In the sequel, the film follows Mitchie (played by Lovato) and Shane (played by Joe Jonas) as they return to Camp Rock for another summer of music and fun. Their love blossoms as they battle against a new state-of-the-art music camp called Camp Star that has opened across the lake.

"The romance between Shane and Mitchie is still there and it continues to grow," Jonas says. "They want to spend more time together but [finding time is a bit] difficult for them to do, because she is trying to help out the camp as much as she can."

Revisiting her breakout role was "exciting," says Lovato, 17, and starring with the Jonas Brothers again was a job that guaranteed a good time. "They are so easy to work with and we just hangout and have fun," Lovato tells PEOPLE. "They are like my brothers and they are my best friends. They always make me laugh."

A Family Affair

This time around Kevin Jonas and brother Nick Jonas will have their own storylines (including a love interest for Nick!) along with the youngest Jonas brother, Frankie, who joins the onscreen action.

"It's fun," said Nick about his character falling for the daughter of the owner of the rival camp, played by Chloe Bridges. "It's good when you feel comfortable with the person and we're friends."

And any nerves about kissing? "No, we hadn't had to do that but it's been good."

With all the onscreen relationships, Kevin is the odd man out as a camp counselor with no love interest. But the newlywed told PEOPLE that's fine with him: "I've got my own love interest in my real life so I'm good!"

For a full sneak peek of the film, tune into Disney Channel's New Year Star Showdown on Dec. 31.

Yang HyunSeok, “Big Bang DaeSung and TOP will have their solo album released next year”

It has been revealed that Big Bang members DaeSung and TOP will be releasing their solo albums next year.

With that, each of the 5 Big Bang members will have their own solo albums. For the past 2 years, we have seen members TaeYang, SeungRi and GDragon etc with their solo album release.

YG Entertainment’s head Yang HyunSeok, who had gone to Japan with Big Bang to attend the 51st Japan Record Awards on 30th December, said in an interview on 31st December, “With this award, it will help increase Big Bang’s popularity in Japan.”

“There are also many fans and music officials who are curious about Big Bang’s activities next year, for the first half of next year, Big Bang will focus on their Japanese promotions. And DaeSung is doing his own album producing, Fans will be able to feel his own music style through the form of album single released in either full-length or minialbum format.”

“I hope that everyone will also look forward to TOP and SeungRi’s solo songs.”

Joe Chen Qiao En fainted when filming raining scene in cold weather

Joe Chen went to China to film drama "Lan Se Jia Qi (藍色佳期)" and had to film a scene in the rain when the weather was 3 degree Celsius cold. She fainted after filming that scene. Joe exaggeratedly expressed that "The fever was so high that my eyelids could be used to fry an egg."

As for her rumored boyfriend Roy Chiu Ze, his flu dragged too long and developed into pneumonia. He was even suspected to have caught H1N1 for a while and was sent into quarantine room. The two thus were both sick.

Before taking on this drama, Joe had read the novel at least twice. The character was different from her ugly duckling turn swan characters in the past. Thus, even though she had to act with Roy Chiu again and there were possibilities of the focus being diverted from the drama, Joe still insisted on acting. All her crying scenes were real as she will get very engrossed in her acting and even the coworkers, no matter male or female, would end up crying with her. When it came to the romance scenes between Roy and her, the acting was so natural and real that even those who didn't know of their rumors together couldn't help whispering and asking "Are the two a couple?"

Joe and Jungiery Star's contract will end this month. Earlier on, the management company requested for her to support their new boyband at their event but she didn't go. She was thus accused of being ungrateful. There has been rumors of her taking away coworkers from J-Star too and this has greatly affected her mood. She declines answering to related questions though and wrote on her blog "No matter how cold the weather is, it can't beat the coldness in the heart."
