Jake Gyllenhaal ‘Trying to Win Back Reese Witherspoon’

Jake Gyllenhaal is desperately trying to win back Reese Witherspoon.

According to In Touch Weekly magazine, Jake has been buying Reese expensive gifts in the hope she’ll take him back.

The actor reportedly splashed out $75,000 on vintage dinnerware from France for Reese’s home in Ojai, Calif.

Gyllenhaal has also been bombarding the Legally Blond star with e-mails and flowers.

“He isn’t giving up without a fight,” a source said.

It was previously reported that the pair split because Reese — who is divorced from hunky actor Ryan Phillippe – didn’t want to get married.

“As much as everyone thinks they’re right there, they’re really not near the whole marriage thing,” a source said in December.

“Jake would marry her tomorrow, but Reese doesn’t want to go there yet, even though he would like to.

“There’s a huge attraction between them, and they’ve becomes a team, partners, but Jake can be a little overbearing at times, and Reese is really happy with life right now. Why screw that up or change a good thing?”

G-Dragon caught red-handed after a wild night?

G-Dragon of Big Bang was recently spotted with odd scars, leading people to speculate that he might be interested in some naughty things.

The above photo, taken at one of many year end ceremonies, got people talking with obvious scar marks on G Dragon's chest. Some netizens jokingly suggested that only a girl's fingernails can leave such marks, leading many to come up with stories on things that we should not describe to our younger readers. The star's past antics, such as sporting clothes with sexual symbols and performing naughty acts in a concert, did not help with netizens' wild fantasies about him and his scar.

More sensible netizens, however, appear to have agreed that the scars must have come from Gaho, G Dragon's Shar Pei.

The beautiful Kung Fu Sidekick

The Treasure Hunter might star a charismatic Jay Chou as a gungho hero. But it's Taiwanese eye candy Lin Chiling who shines most brightly

In the movie, 35-year-old model-actress Lin Chiling plays Lan Ting, the clingy sidekick and childhood love of archaeologist protagonist Qiao Fei (Jay Chou).

Time and again, she gets rescued by the gungho hero who goes around the desert kicking grave plunderers' butts, so that he can return artefacts to their rightful owners.

In reality, it's probably Chiling's looks that will save this movie, which opens here today, from becoming a $21-million disaster.

After all, the combination of megastars and a colossal budget means expectations will be high.

Too bad these megastars are known more for their celebrity hijinks than acting chops.

In other words, The Treasure Hunter will probably fall short of meeting these expectations.

Perhaps director Kevin Chu was counting on Chiling's natural allure. She has been hailed by Taiwan media as the sexiest model on the island.

Well, she does ooze sex appeal onscreen.

The way the buxom beauty clings onto the 30-year-old Jay will appeal to males who may envision themselves as a hero saving a damsel in distress.

(The artificial sandstorms and ugly baddies on horses add to the hero fantasy too.)

Chiling also exercised her singing chops when she recorded the film's ending theme, Take Me Flying - in her famous girlish voice, of course.

She even penned its lyrics, with multi-hyphenate Jay writing the tune.

Kudos to the 1.74m-tall actress for shattering her image as a 'vase', or an ornament, as the Chinese metaphor goes.

The Chinese media had given her that moniker after she played Tony Leung's demure wife in the two-part Red Cliff in 2008 and 2009.

To film The Treasure Hunter, she had to brave the scenic yet harsh Mongolian desert for more than two months.

Sometimes, she went without a shower for two days.

Sand was everywhere, in the crew's food, in their tents. Chiling even had her face scraped by flying sand when the wind picked up.

But she told the local media it was 'all good fun' when she, Jay and Kevin flew into town last week to promote the movie.

She also performed all her own fighting scenes. (Jay did more than 90 per cent of his action stunts.)

In one particular scene, Chiling leapt on Jay's shoulders and wrapped her legs around him, as he swung her around like a rag doll.

She also wielded a spear in the movie.

Beefed up role

Pretty impressive for someone with no prior training in martial arts.

'My greatest regret is not preparing myself sufficiently before filming started,' she told FiRST.

She had to learn her stunts on the set.

Why so unprepared? Apparently, it's because her fighting role was only beefed up halfway into filming.

On the last-minute changes, director Kevin explained: 'Her potential in shooting action scenes surprised me so I increased the number of her fighting scenes.'

And although Chiling's terrified of horses - she fell off one in 2005 while filming an advertisement - she gamely shot a scene which had dozens of horsemen attacking her and Jay while they escape on a motorcycle.

'I was really afraid, so I begged Jay to ride faster. That wasn't in the original script,' she said.

Ah, no wonder there was a look of genuine fear on her face as she clung on to her co-star during the shoot.

The way she tossed her tresses in the wind - shampoo-ad style - and how she put her face on Jay's leather-clad shoulders gave new meaning to the term 'in hot pursuit'.

So the chemistry sizzled between the stars then?

Not really.

While Chiling and Jay claimed they share an excellent rapport - he had taken her on desert drives to secluded places to talk about 'personal stuff' in between shoots - don't expect first-class acting from them.

How bad is it? Let's just say other cast members like Chinese actor Chen Daoming and Hong Kong veteran Eric Tsang were more expressive.

Even the CGI-created demons showed more facial expressions than these onscreen lovebirds.

Lan Ting's sadness over the loss of her father, tragically, wasn't convincing at all.

And while Kevin praised Jay for his martial arts prowess (coached by top Hong Kong action choreographer Tony Ching), no number of high kicks can compensate for Jay's deadpan acting, which we have seen in his other films such as Initial D, Secret and Kung Fu Dunk.

Perhaps Jay was just being himself? Again.

Not that his gongfu moves are that great anyway.

Pitted against heroes of recent action flicks, Jay's skills would probably get thumped by Donnie Yen's ability (Bodyguards And Assassins) and Rain's abs (Ninja Assassin).

Even the vampires and werewolves from The Twilight Saga: New Moon would beat The Treasure Hunter, and that's just on their growls alone.

We can only hope that Jay, who's currently playing Kato, a superhero's sidekick in a re-make of The Green Hornet, will pick up a trick or two from gongfu icon Bruce Lee, who first played that role.

Yet, something is more disturbing than sub-par acting in The Treasure Hunter - like the director's poor memory.

In our interview with him, we asked 57-year-old Kevin whether he finds his film similar to past Hollywood adventure flicks.

He said in Mandarin: 'How can that be?

'I don't think they fought a mummy in a desert.'

Er, Brendan Fraser did that in The Mummy in 1999 - and its two sequels in 2001 and 2008, we reminded Kevin.

KAT-TUN Kamenashi Encountered Earth Quake when Wearing Nothing but Pants!

From the drama "Kami no Shizuku", the musical "DREAM BOYS" to the movie "GOKUSEN (THE MOVIE)", KAT-TUN member Kazuya Kamenashi seemed to be more active as solo than in the group in 2009. Though he had rare private time, he revealed the "TOP3 Major Private Events" in the radio program "Kase by Kase of Kazuya Kamenashi". He had a lot of fun in playing golf in Okinawa during the concert, going to hot spring trip with parents, and playing baseball as a professional player. You may know the first and third one from musicJAPANplus news. But what's episode of his hot spring trip?

A few days ago, Kamenashi visited his parents in the suburb when attending relative's wedding ceremony. Because the relative liked the opening song "YOU" of the drama "Suppli" by KAT-TUN, Kamenashi was supposed to sing the song at the end of the ceremony as a surprise. His parents left the hotel earlier to the wedding venue, and Kamenashi can put on his outfit at leisure. However... "It was 3p.m. and we were living on the 7th floor. I just brushed my teeth and took a bath in the hot spring. The hotel was quite old...and all of a sudden, a seismic intensity 3 earth quake occurred! The building shook a lot when I was brushing the teeth and washing my face! I was really scared." Just as he said, on the 7th floor of an old building, it will shake quite severely under the seismic intensity 3 earth quake! The problem is Kamenashi was only wearing a pair of pants and was totally not prepared! So he learned a lesson from the incident: "You should put on your clothes even when you wash your face, so that you can flee as soon as possible!" That's right but...it seems he is a little bit out of focus...(laugh) It is heartwarming for a steady person like Kamenashi emphasize on such a thing, isn't it?

By the way, about one month ago, in the same program, Kamenashi said: "Of course it is different from standing in front of the guests, in the spotlight with KAT-TUN's style. I was very nervous when I was told to sing a song on wedding ceremony!" I really want to know how everything went about the surprise plan!

Feeling a little GaGa, Perez? Celebrity blogger wears banana-print boxers for dinner with singer

Can she get any more GaGa? Outrageous singer steps out in a shredded jacket ending the year in the same way she began

She's one of the year's most outrageous stars and he's a showbiz blogger who's become something of a celebrity himself.

So when Lady GaGa and Perez Hilton got together for a dinner date at Nobu in Miami, there was little surprise that the duo pulled out all the stops with their bizarre outfits.

GaGa, 23, maintained her penchant for ridiculous ensembles - this time teaming a black PVC jacket that appeared to have been put through a shredder, with a rubber skirt, fishnet stockings and black PVC boots.

The singer, who shot to fame this year with debut single Just Dance, also donned a bright yellow wig topped off with a leather cap and shades.

Meanwhile, Perez looked equally silly wearing what seemed to be a pair of banana-print boxer shorts with a black dinner jacket, a t-shirt emblazoned with a cover of People magazine featuring Madonna and gold shoes with black socks.

The celebrity blogger dressed up as Lady GaGa earlier this year at a Hallowe'en party held in Los Angeles by Heidi Klum.

Kim Kardashian Denies Tweeting For Dollars; Her Calendar: Sneak Peek!

Reality starlet Kim Kardashian has responded to allegations that she pockets up to $10,000 per Tweet to endorse products for QuickTrim, Reebox, and promote a new line of premiunm salads from West Coast fast food giant Carl’s Jr.

“I want to clear this up because there has been a lot of talk about this. Carl’s Jr did not pay me to tweet about their salads,” the 28-year-old socialite wrote on her blog New Year’s Eve. “Yes, obviously I was paid to be in the commercial… we all have to work! But I was not paid to tweet or talk about the salads on my blog, Facebook account, MySpace account or any other online outlets,” Kim wrote.

Kim — who catapulted to reality stardom after appearing in a sex tape with R&B singer Ray J — says she Tweets in hopes of sharing her favorite items with followers — not for monetary compensation.

“I want my fans to know what products, gadgets, foods, clothes and beauty products I like and I love sharing all that with my fans. You all know I’ve posted about certain clothes and products on my blog since I started blogging two years ago.”

Kim Kardashian Calendar: Sneak Peek!

Well, almost.

But Kim Kardashian is nothing if not a forward-looking woman.

With that in mind, the large-breasted reality star is giving fans a sneak peek of her calendar. Her 2011 calendar, that is.

In her latest blog entry, Kim says she snapped some photos with some blonde hair and some with dark hair.

TVXQ Has Officially Disbanded?

According to Yahoo! Japan, as of December 31, 2009, TVXQ has finally disbanded. We're going to start the new year with a pretty depressing note.

Though fans have been doubting this news or staying in denial, Japanese reports have stated that these boys are absolutely finished. No longer are the days when the boys traveled together, have any sort of interaction, or even react with one another back stage! Since the break of the news about trouble in paradise for the boys, there has been little to no interaction among them at all. The boys have been using separate dressing rooms or setting up walls to avoid contact with one another. Apparently, BREAK OUT will be their final single to be released and the boys will be releasing their BEST album in February. Finally, a final goodbye concert is to be held sometime in June. It is implied that after these events take place, the boys will end their relationship with one another as the group TVXQ.

However, fans that still want to keep their faith alive, there has been no official news released by the boys, AVEX, nor SM Entertainment. Is it Yahoo! Japan being unnecessarily dramatic or is there some truth to this? We'll find out soon enough.

Out with the new, in with the old for Jay Chou's relationships

Jay Chou has had his share of rumors, but he has always kept his lips sealed on his personal life. He has admitted to his previous relationship with newly-engaged Patty Hou, but has denied allegations that Taiwanese pop star Jolin Tsai is also his ex-girlfriend.

A few days ago he and Chi-ling Lin went onto “Shen Chun Hua Life Show”, where he was asked if he had had “countless” relationships. Not wanting to appear cocky by the media, Jay hastily replied, “Actually, I have only been in two relationships,” finally confirming his past connections with Patty Hou and Jolin Tsai. However, he still denied any relations with his current “J-Girl”, Jessie Chiang.

When Host Shen Chun Hua asked him which two relationships he had been in, he played dumb, asking “Oh? Did I say that? Well let everyone go home and watch the replay then.” He then proceeded to avoid the question, asking the host to talk about Chi-ling’s love life instead.

Although Jay stubbornly refused to reveal with which two people he has had relationships with, he once said that “a girlfriend is someone I can put my arm around.” Interestingly enough, in 2005 he was photographed with his arm around Patty Hou on the streets of Japan, exposing their relationship. They dated for about a year before breaking it off.

The media began circulating with reports of a relationship
between Jay Chou and Jolin Tsai in 2003. Jolin, after years of relentless questioning by the press, publically admitted their former relationship, but until now Jay still denied the “Double J” romance. Since the Chou-Hou relationship was revealed by photos from the paparazzi on their excursion to Japan, Jolin was the last to know and it ultimately created tension between the two former lovers. Jay Chou finally loosened his lips and by admitting to having two past relationships, indirectly admitted to the “Double J” relationship.

However, regarding his supposed current flame Jessie Chiang, Jay brushed aside the accusations, commenting, “The media takes a picture of something and calls it something else.”

“I haven’t been photographed by them for the past 2 years because my paparazzi-dodging skills have vastly improved,” Jay managed to joke, “but in all seriousness I do eat dinner with other people too.” However, he and Chiang have been spotted not only eating dinner, but playing basketball and riding motorcycles together. She even has a copy of Jay Chou’s garage key. But he remains tight-lipped about the situation, continuing to say that she’s just “one of the guys.”

He also doesn’t hesitate to suggest a possible romance with his “Treasure Hunter” co-start Chi-Ling Lin. He and Chi-ling are now close friends who often talked about very personal issues. What kind of personal issues? That’s the “Secret” they can’t tell you.

Google: My 10 Resolutions for 2010

As 2009 becomes 2010, Google remains the most interesting technology company. Google is involved in so many--probably too many--things and the regulatory environment, if not competition, has begun to heat up.

With that in mind, I offer 10 "New Year's Resolutions" for the crew at the Googleplex, in the hope that Google can, in some cases, change its ways before government steps in to change them:

1. Do a better job of communicating with users regarding privacy. This seems obvious enough, but Google needs better help users understand what it is (and isn't) doing with the information it gathers about them and their habits.

Ultimately, Google will be ordered to submit to some form of external oversight, so perhaps the company should get ahead of the curve and fund an independent Google privacy watchdog. It would provide counsel to the company and transparency to its users.

I trust Google's current management--as I trust Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer--but users have reasons to fear Google's collection and use of information, even in its search index. There will be restrictions placed upon the company, and I believe that will be a good thing over the long haul.

2. Be more proactive in dealing with government. 2010 is likely the year the Feds will start moving in on Google. I am especially interested on how the company has used "free" services, underwritten with ad revenue, to stifle real or potential competition outside of its core search business. Ultimately, Google is going to court.

3. Stay out of the social network business. Google has tried social networking and failed. Knol and Orkut have not come close to success. Give up.

4. Google should decide it is not a hardware company. I do not like the idea of Google competing with hardware vendors. I though the Droid was supposed to be Google's idea of what a smartphone should be. Now it's the Nexus One. What will it be next week? My hope is the handset manufacturers will gang up against Google for this sort of behavior.

5. Likewise Chrome OS hardware. It's great for Google to create specs and reference designs, probably wrong for it to actually brand and sell hardware. I think "Made for Chrome OS" stickers are as far as it should go.

6. Make better applications. Am I the only one who notices that Google Apps don't nearly compete with Microsoft Office if you actually care what the output looks like? Or if you need features beyond the basic set Google provides?

7. Give up on the AdMob purchase. 2010 really is the year Google will bump into external restrictions, if it doesn't impose them itself.

8. Support competing operating systems. Where is Google Maps Navigation for the iPhone? Apple has said Google can submit the app for approval. I haven't heard anything since.

9. Make Google Voice a more useful service. Google Voice could replace people's telephone service with a VoIP product, but isn't quite up to the task in its present form. Great start, though.

10. I have tried playing with the Google Wave collaboration beta and still find it to be a head scratcher. I think this is another technology in search of a problem to solve. No collaboration product--I am thinking of Lotus Notes and Microsoft Groove as primary examples--has yet become a must-have for average business users. Wave shows promise, but isn't even close in functionality and ease-of-use. Having said that, collaboration is an incredibly tough problem to solve.

So, there are 10 things that Google should do to improve products and get ahead of the regulators.

As we begin a new year, I am wondering whether 2010 will be the year customers start to rebel against Google or whether the aura of "free" this and that has completely blinded them to the potential and real dangers Google may pose.

People who worried about Microsoft should really worry about Google.

Apple iSlate tablet: involved teams in “cone of silence”?

We’re still hearing rumors of a January 26th launch for the much-discussed Apple Tablet, and according to the latest from oft-insider Josh Gruber of Daring Fireball, all the signs are coming together for just such an unveil. Gruber highlights the fact that “everyone working on it has dropped off the map”, something which last happened in the run up to the original iPhone’s announcement back in early 2007; in fact, many of the people who have now gone into stealth mode are the same engineers and software teams responsible for the iPhone Mail, Calendar, and Safari apps.

Gruber describes it as a “cone of silence”, and it’s one that – despite talk of Apple discussing ebook and other deals with publishers – even content partners might be kept out of. Apparently Apple goes into such meetings without prototypes, mock-ups, designs or even verbal confirmation that such a product is in the works; instead, they merely ask if the would-be partner is interested in getting involved “if we were to create a new platform”.

As for the potential functionality, Gruber reckons predictions of a Kindle rival, overgrown iPod touch or simply an HD media viewer all miss the point: the Apple iSlate (as we expect it to be called) will be all those and more. Apple may illustrate its purpose – set its context to potential buyers, as it were – by highlighting two or three key uses, just as they did with the iPhone, but the iSlate won’t be limited to any such small subset.
