Charlene Choi angered: "Insults my intelligences" clarifying convicted Maoshan & God-daughter reports

MaoShan Master cheating female models into having sex to change their fate was sentenced 81 months of jail time as a result. It was said that Charlene Choi was this particular MaoShan Master's god-daughter, and taught her to "fling off" Ronald Cheng to change her fate. Yesterday Ah Sa attended an event and was extremely angered, she even scolded the reports saying that it insults her intelligences!

Yesterday Ah Sa and Miriam Yeung attended a Metro radio event. Speaking of the reports of Ah Sa being the god-daughter of the convicted MaoShan Master, she was angered. She said unsatisfied: "I just came back from vacation in Japan with Kenny Kwan and other friends. I really wanted to cancel my vacation and come forward to clarify that I have no god-father, I only have two god-sons, and this report really insults my intelligences! Forget it, he (the Maoshan Master) is already suffering consequences, his family is unhappy, I don't want put salt on someone's injury." The MaoShan Master's defending lawyer submitted several pleading letters, some of which are written by artists, is Ah Sa afraid that this may lead to a misunderstanding? She said: "Absolutely not. Those letters definitely does not include Ah Gil (Gillian Chung) and I. We don't even know this person! I just want this to be a warning to the young people, let them learn from mistakes. He is already suffering consequences, I don't want to say anymore."

Bill Gates thanks Ashton Kutcher for Twitter welcome, ponders Kristen Stewart, shows his Redford fanboy side

Microsoft mogul and charitable billionaire Bill Gates alerted the world via Twitter that he'd be in Park City, Utah, for Sundance -- using his verified account created last year but fired up only last week.

One thing that's different about being Bill Gates, however, is that when you post your first tweets, you get a same-day welcome from Ashton Kutcher, the unofficial mayor of the microblogging site.

"I was very thankful for that; it was nice of him," Gates told me at the House of Hype's Bing Supper Club, where a dinner party was held for the flick. The chance to support the picture, in which he has a cameo, is part of what lured him to the indie film festival for the first time.

I got to chat with the philanthropist about the documentary "Superman" and its underscoring of the education crisis in America, his entry into the wonderful world of Twitter, and even about festival darling and "Twilight" star Kristen Stewart ...
"I was on Facebook for a while but got a little overwhelmed," Gates said, "not knowing who was or wasn't a friend."

How would no iPhone exclusivity affect Android?

On the same day the iPad is unveiled, it sounds like Apple’s exclusivity deal with AT&T may be expiring. If true, I can imagine Steve Jobs making this an important part of his announcements on January 27th:

“I’m excited to announce that starting today, the new iPhone will be available for any carrier in the United States to sell.”

What does this mean for Google though? One advantage of Google’s Android strategy is that it’s not limited to only one carrier — it’s available where the iPhone isn’t, and so far, that has worked alright. On the other hand, I don’t believe they have tapped the potential that exists outside of AT&T.

On Wednesday, Android may be directly competing with the iPhone. The question is what percentage of people who want to buy an iPhone has already left their carrier and moved to AT&T, and how many are looking to jump ship as soon as possible from the carrier.

Bell's Palm Pre now free -- in exchange for three years of your life

How long does it take for a smartphone to go from two hundred bucks on contract all the way down to a big, fat goose egg? If you're Bell -- and the phone is the Palm Pre -- the answer is right around five months, apparently. Following its August release and a couple of mid-course pricing corrections, Bell's now making Palm's first webOS-based device available for free just as long as you're willing to commit to three years at a minimum spend of CAD $50 (about $47) a month. The move likely comes on the announcement of the Pre Plus, perhaps as a preemptive strike against any of its competitors planning on carrying it -- and if we were Sprint right now, we'd be paying very, very close attention to these guys.

"Hi! My Sweetheart" sacrifices for "Fairy Tale Under Starlight" making Show's fans mad

Even the mild-tempered “Da Lang” is now angry. On “100% Entertainment” Show Luo expressed his dissatisfaction towards CTS for the way they were treating “Hi! My Sweetheart.” After the airing of Show’s comment, not only did the fans show their support for Show, but they also began to verbally curse “Fairy Tale Under Starlight” to have poor ratings.

Show and Rainie’s “Hi! My Sweetheart” is nearing its ending. Sunday’s episode will be 135 minutes long (from 10pm to 12:15am), while its final episode will only be 45 minutes long, which “Fairy Tale Under Starlight” will follow right after, starring Baron Chen, Megan Lai, Lego Li, and Tanaka Chie. They will be up against CTV’s “Down With Love.” CTS promotes “Hi! My Sweetheart’s” Sunday episode as a “special winter holiday extended version,” but netizens are already criticizing CTS for treating “Hi! My Sweetheart” as a sacrifice in the ratings game.

This year - not Arashi, but KAT-TUN? Johnny's Expectations

Last year, the highest riding stars in the entertainment world were Arashi. Even as we come into 2010, the drama starring all five members of the group, Last Promise (Fuji TV), has already been marked as a high rating drama, showing that 'Arashi mania' is set to keep going. However, in the typical style of Johnny's, it seems that 2010 is set to be KAT-TUN's year.

KAT-TUN started the new year early, with an appearance on the live broadcast of SMAP×SMAP. While most appearances on this programme are advertised, KAT-TUN appeared with none. "By letting them appear in their sempai's long running, popular TV programme, we can push KAT-TUN's name recognition status" is, for whatever reason, the clear expectation of the Johnny's Entertainment camp.

Ariel Lin came to Hong Kong discreetly accompanied by Denise Ho to support Joe Cheng

Ariel Lin and Joe Cheng (Xiao Zong), this Taiwanese on-screen couple, have collaborated in ISWAK, TKA and LoB and have had rumoured to be a couple. Although both had denied the rumours, possibilities for a future relationship hasn't been ruled out. Recently, the stage play 'DFL' which Xiao Zong stars in is having its 3rd round of performances in Hong Kong. Ariel, who'd been busy with work, had never had the chance to watch his performance. Finally, she has a few days of holidays to have a secret vacation in Hong Kong to support Xiao Zong's performance, on top of recharging herself. On the first day of 'DFL's performance, she was accompanied by her co-star from 'Man & Woman, War & Peace', Denise Ho, to watch the show. Ariel, thinking there were no reporters, was casually dressed with no make up, in a cap and sunglasses. When she saw the reporter, she quickly covered her face with her hand and hid behind Denise Ho.

How will SAG Awards impact who wins the Oscars?

Well, it sure didn't matter that Paramount and Columbia spent a pile sending DVD screeners of "Up in the Air" and "Julie & Julia" to nearly all 100,000 SAG Awards voters. George Clooney and Meryl Streep lost to Jeff Bridges and Sandra Bullock even though Fox Searchlight and Warner Bros. didn't blitz Screen Actors Guild members with discs of "Crazy Heart" and "The Blind Side."

That tells us Oscarologists what formidable candidates Bridges and Bullock are as they head toward the Oscars. It's clear that one of them — Bridges — now looks like an inevitable Oscar champ. Maybe Bullock too, but her bout with Meryl Streep isn't over yet. Maybe SAG voters ventured from Streep this year because they just hailed her with their lead-actress prize last year ("Doubt"). Streep hasn't won an Oscar for 27 years and academy members know that she's overdue. She may hold the record for most nominations (15), but she's only won one and a half times ("Sophie's Choice" in lead, "Kramer vs. Kramer" in supporting).
