Jennifer Aniston Never Intended To Rekindle Romance With Ex-Hubby Brad Pitt

JENNIFER Aniston had no intention of rekindling her romance with ex-husband Brad Pitt, insiders say.

The Hollywood hunk — who was married to the former Friends star from 2000-2005 — had hoped to get back with his ex-wife when he hit a rough patch with Angelina Jolie, the mother of six kids.

But when Jen told Brad she wasn’t interested in relighting the fire, the heartthrob decided to give things with Angelina another go.

“Brad was seriously considering walking back into the arms of Jen,” a source told American tabloid the National Enquirer. “That was his idea at least. But at the end of the day, Jen was having none of it. She was having way too much fun playing the field to even consider getting back with her ex.

“Brad thought he could change her mind and he was stunned when she rejected him. He’s used to getting his own way with women so to be knocked back by his ex like that was a bitter blow.

Avatar Loses, Oscar Wins!

The world's biggest movie lost the biggest prize, but Avatar might have won the night for Oscar.

Last night's James Cameron-denying Academy Awards scored the awards show's largest audience in five years, averaging 41.3 million viewers, ABC said.

So, the questions are: Did the almighty Avatar encourage tune-ins, or did people just have a thing for the "worst Oscars show ever?"

First things first: Yes, Cameron's blockbuster probably, if not likely, boosted interest.

Rihanna & Matt Kemp: It's Meet the Family Time!

Things must be getting serious.

Rihanna traveled to Arizona to meet boyfriend Matt Kemp's family this weekend, but this was no ordinary trip. The singer flew in all the way from Berlin on Saturday just so she could attend Kemp's charity bash, Ante Up for Autism. The L.A. Dodgers outfielder is very close to the cause as his brother is autistic.

She had performed at the Echo Awards in Berlin on Thursday but then hopped on a plane shortly after. "Matt was happy she came," says an inside source on Rihanna making it to the event. "It was an awesome show of support."

Besides the other pro baseballers in the house Saturday evening, Kemp's family also attended, and they met Rihanna for the first time. "Rihanna fit right in as if they all knew each other. It was comfortable."

The fundraising gala kicked off with Vegas-style gaming and cocktails, a live and a silent auction, followed by dinner and dancing. The second-annual event raised $170,000 with only 150 people in attendance.

Rihanna's next scheduled performance is in L.A. at the Kid's Choice Awards on March 27.

Blushing Simon Cowell (Sort of) Confirms He's Engaged

Simon Cowell scowling – typical. Simon Cowell blushing? Indeed.

The famously cantankerous American Idol judge squirmed in his seat on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Monday as the host dissected reports of Cowell's engagement to Idol makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy.

"Are rumors you're engaged true?" Leno asked. Cowell took a moment and responded carefully, "Are they true? Well, I do have somebody in my life now, Jay, yes. And I kinda made a decision this year to make somebody happy."

As the audience cheered, Leno asked about the huge ring Hussainy has been sporting on her left hand.

"I thought she broke her arm," Leno joked. Cowell responded, "It's quite a big one, yes."

The First iPad Ad: Brutally Honest Edition

Apple aired its first iPad ad during the Oscars last night, but it felt like something was missing, didn't it? It was a voiceover. So I went ahead and added one for them. You're welcome, Apple!

Why Isn't the iPad Getting Some of the iPhone's Default Apps?

Recently we saw the first iPad ad, but in it we didn't see some of the default apps found on the iPhone. Why aren't the Stocks, Calculator, Clock, Weather and Voice Memos apps on the iPad? Here's a possible explanation.

According to Daring Fireball, it boils down to design and Steve Jobs' perfectionism:

Ends up that just blowing up iPhone apps to fill the iPad screen looks and feels weird, even if you use higher-resolution graphics so that nothing looks pixelated. So they were scrapped by you-know-who. Perhaps they'll appear on the iPad in some re-imagined form this summer with OS 4.0, but when the iPad ships next month, there won't be versions of these apps. At least that's the story I've heard from a few well-informed little birdies.

Microsoft changes EU browser ballot shuffling

Critic gives the new randomization algorithm passing grade

Responding to reports last week that its European ballot screen was not truly randomizing the positions of the top five browsers, Microsoft today said it has changed the algorithm that shuffles the spots.

"We can confirm that we made a change to the random icon order algorithm in the browser choice screen for Europe," said Microsoft spokesman Kevin Kutz today. "We are confident the algorithm change will be an improvement."

The browser ballot, which began to show last week in the Windows Update queues of European users, was mandated by an agreement Microsoft reached last year with European Union antitrust regulators. The ballot appears on Windows PCs where Internet Explorer (IE) is set as the default browser, and lets users download and install rivals, including Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari and others.

In bid for entrepreneurs, Dell introduces new Vostro 3000 laptops: Core i3, i5, i7; start $768

In a bid for small business entrepreneurs, Dell on Tuesday unveiled its Vostro 3000 series laptops with standard voltage Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 processors and discrete graphics for less than $800.

The laptops come on the heels of the Vostro V13 ultra-low-voltage thin-and-light, a $450 laptop which we particularly admired for its value.

The difference is that the new 3000 series exchanges the V13’s ULV processor for a more robust standard voltage chip, stronger graphics and, as a result, less battery life.
