Windows Phone 7 Series will be WVGA only at launch, HVGA later

Microsoft's driving home the point that developers are going to know exactly what kind of hardware they're targeting as they whip up Windows Phone 7 Series apps -- and naturally, a biggie is screen resolution since that affects how UI elements are going to be placed, how cool they can look, and how small they can realistically be. In a session at MIX10, Microsoft's Charlie Kindel has laid down the law that WP7S will be 800 x 480 -- just 800 x 480 -- at launch, a message we heard at MWC last month, but the new tidbit here is that there'll be 480 x 320 in the pipe for an unannounced later date. All devices will have precisely the same amount of available RAM and the same capacitive touch capability, and as we've already know, manufacturers will be able to tack on a keyboard if they like.

ATV’s Wong Jing expresses that he has no intention of hiring Stephen Chan

TVB’s GM Stephen Chan was arrested last Thursday by ICAC on alleged corruption charges; last night, upon posting bail, he was temporarily released and returned home. Since then, Chan has been secluded in his home, not making any public appearances as well as being cutoff from all contact with friends and acquaintances. Prior to the corruption case being revealed, there were already rumors that Chan was planning to resign as TVB GM and pursue a career elsewhere, however now Chan is in a difficult position due to the scandal. Even ATV’s new Chairman Wong Jing, who indicates that the station is thirsting for talent, has indicated that he only heard of Stephen Chan when the corruption case erupted and that “currently, there are no plans to solicit Stephen Chan to join ATV.”

Yesterday, appearing as the ‘special guest’ for an ATV event, Wong Jing expressed that right now, what ATV desperately needs is not money – what they need is talented people. The reporter asked Wong if he knows Stephen Chan and whether he would consider inviting him to join ATV? Wong indicated that he only knew about Chan from reading the news the last few days and that for the time being, there are no plans to invite him to join.

Entertainment circle enters "Sex Photo Mode", Stephy Tang denies to the indecent video

Two years ago, Edison Chen's Artist Sex Photo Scandal broke out, once had rumors with Hong Kong pop singer Stephy Tang luckily escaped the scandal. However, recently Stephy's 6 minute video clip circulated online, leading to an exposure of photos on the cover of tabloid magazine "New Hope". The cover story was "Beats Cecilia Cheung and Gillian Chung", accompanied by screenshots of indecent images from the video clip. According to the magazine, it is suspected that the photos were leaked by what the magazine referred to as "the police". Yesterday at 5pm, Stephy immediately clarified through her blog that the report is some nonsense created by tabloid magazine: "This time it is too over the line, I will leave it to my company to handle it. You all do not need to worry."

Had always been known as a jade girl, this is the first time Stephy had sex photos exposed on a magazine cover, which really hurts her image. The screenshots from the video implied that Stephy is very bold and open, the magazine said: "Stephy Tang in these sex photos is comparable to the early 2008 Cecilia Cheung and Gillian Chung 'sex photo scandal'". The magazine reveals that there is approximately a total of 6 minutes worth of video footage. The source was what the magazine called "the police".

Eason Chan scooped 6 music awards in Singapore

Eason Chan has been winning so many music awards in recent years that his hands are getting tired for carrying them. He attended a music award presentation in Singapore the other day despite his busy schedule and he took home 6 personal awards. He was surprised to have won so many awards. It was a pity that he couldn't stay in Singapore longer as he needs to come back to Hong Kong to organize his concert.

Eason's fans are very supportive, they have prepared a present for him. The fans have recorded the song "Mount Fuji" and each of them took turn to sing a sentence but left the last sentence for Eason to sing. The fans' version of "Mount Fuji" was played during the presentation ceremony. Eason himself also performed two songs, "To you" and "Such a trouble".

Lady Gaga to Be Featured on Glee

Fox's hit show Glee has been off the air since December, but when it returns next month, it will make up for lost time with a tribute to the great Lady Gaga.

Creator Ryan Murphy said, "We're doing an episode as a tribute to theatricality. We reached out to Lady Gaga and she said, 'Yes, I'd love to be a part of it.'

"So yes, we will be doing Lady Gaga this season."

We can only hope for a full-length cover of her "Telephone" video, complete with ridiculous costumes and references to her alleged hermaphrodite status.

Whether that means you'll see Lady Gaga on Glee personally is unclear, but at the very least, the show will be basing an episode around the "Bad Romance" songstress.

"MTV did not ban Lady Gaga and BeyoncĂ©'s 'Telephone' video — in fact, we premiered it on Friday, March 12, on-air and online at MTV.com, two days before this story was falsely reported," said MTV Executive Vice President of Music and Talent Amy Doyle. "Fans can continue to catch the video as we repeat it on-air and online."

MIX 2010 delivers fresh WP7s news: Windows Phone Marketplace, Silverlight 4 RC and more

Today marks the kick-off point for MIX 2010, Microsoft’s annual developer conference, and while usually we’d leave it to the programmers this year promises more information about Windows Phone 7 series. Microsoft deferred pretty much all questions about hardware and software technicalities from MWC 2010 last month to this week’s event, but with it already confirmed that WP7s will break software ties with Windows Mobile 6.5 and earlier, developers are understandably keen to find out exactly what’s involved getting up to speed with the new platform. Among the announcements today are the launch of the Silverlight 4 Release Candidate and the debut of Windows Phone Marketplace, the successor to Windows Marketplace for Mobile.

Like Marketplace for Mobile, Windows Phone Marketplace will offer developers from thirty countries a single on-device way to distribute their titles. The revenue share rate is set at 70-percent – in the devs’ favor – and is accompanied by the Marketplace Hub on Windows Phone 7 series devices themselves.
