Shu Qi to be in Eddie Peng's first music video

After just completing the recording to his upcoming debut album, Eddie Peng is already filming his first music video. The actor-turned-singer invited the Golden Horse Best Actress Shu Qi to star in his MV. It turned out that Eddie and Shu Qi first met after being introduced by fellow friend, Shawn Yue. They later became good friends after going on a trip to Thailand along with a group of friends. Eddie and Shu Qi often goes to work out together and it was because one time Shu Qi lost in a game of badminton that she promised to do a favor for Eddie.

Eddie reserved that “right” until now and he decided to ask Shu Qi to star in his very first debut single’s MV. Shu Qi immediately agreed to fulfill this request and Eddie happily said, “She’s the Goddess in my heart, my mentor. To be able to have her be in my MV, it’s truly the best birthday present!” Shu Qi specially found some time in her busy schedule to fly back to Taiwan to show her support for Eddie.

'How to Train Your Dragon' Top Box Office on Friday

DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon is on track to handily win the weekend, though its numbers won’t be anywhere near last year’s Monsters vs. Aliens. Its Friday gross is estimated at $11 million, tracking for a three-day take that’s likely to hit $40 million. The reason the well-reviewed kid flick can’t match Monsters‘ gross has nothing to do with the film’s playability and everything to do with the staying power of Alice in Wonderland. The Tim Burton/Johnny Depp fantastical extravaganza lost a good chunk of its 3-D screens this frame, yet it’s still on track to finish the weekend in second place at the box office, with a likely total of $16 million. Its Friday number is estimated at $5 million.

In a surprise, the poorly reviewed Bounty Hunter is holding rather well its second weekend in theaters. The Jennifer Aniston/Gerard Butler-starrer is looking like it’s only going to fall around 48% for the weekend. The film’s Friday number is estimated at $4 million, with a likely three-day take of $13 million, good enough for third place this weekend. That would put it ahead of MGM’s low-budget newcomer, Hot Tub Time Machine, which earned an estimated $4.5 million for Friday. That likely will translate into a $12 million weekend, matching what tracking suggested for the film, though far less than the $20 million I had predicted. Turns out my ’80s nostalgia may be greater than most moviegoers. (MGM had warned me that my number was high, and now I admit they were right all along.)

Sandra Pal: 'She Is a Very Strong Woman'

As she copes with the crisis that has rocked her marriage, Sandra Bullock has the support of folks in her two adopted hometowns, Austin and New Orleans.

"This kind of thing should never happen to anyone, but especially not to the kind of person she is – good, kind, smart," says architect James Holland, who worked with Bullock on her Austin food shop, Walton's Fancy and Staple. "No one deserves this. Especially not Sandra."

"Everyone is disappointed," says Alexina Medley, the principal at Warren Easton Charter High School in New Orleans, where Bullock was inducted into the Hall of Fame last year for her extensive donations to the school. "But it is a private matter. And she is a strong woman. She is a very strong woman."

Holland, who worked with the actress extensively but has not spoken to her since the scandal, describes the star as "really smart. She has an amazing breadth of knowledge. She'll say, 'Yeah, that's something I saw in New York, or this was something that was on a building in London.' Her mind is always going."

Apple rumored to introduce iAd on April 7th

MediaPost reports that Apple's next next big thing, after iPads invade the world next weekend, will be iAd, a mobile advertising platform to be debuted April 7. Coffee dates and patent suits aside, this could be the true Apple-Google battleground.

Of course, if you've been reading the tea leaves, Apple's move into mobile advertising is anything but surprising. In January, they bought mobile advertising company Quattro for a reported $275 million, after Google snatched AdMob out from under them months before.

RadioShack offers iPhones for $4 less and calls it aggressive pricing

RadioShack has announced that beginning this weekend it will be selling both the 3G and 3GS iPhones in its 3,000 stores nationwide. The company is slightly undercutting Apple with pricing planned at $95 for the 3G, and $195 for the 3GS (both with two-year contracts).

According to the company, it’s offering

“some aggressive prices that we hope will create some buzz”

I’m not sure I’d call $4 off Apple’s prices aggressive, but it’s all in how it’s marketed, I guess. As for RadioShack itself, I’m a long time lover of “The Shack”, as the company is trying to have it be known, so if this latest marketing trick with the iPhone can keep the company alive, I applaud its efforts. Unfortunately, I just don’t see people flocking to RadioShack for an iPhone. Then again, the company does offer a number of mobile phones for sale and seems to be doing pretty well with that, so perhaps the iPhone is just what it needs?

Charlene Choi & Ronald Cheng hold press conference confirming 4-year marriage; currently filing for divorce

Recently, there were media reports of Charlene Choi and Ronald Cheng’s marriage certificate being exposed. Although the 2 both clarified their break-up to reporters, it seemed that the media refused to give up and continued publishing false reports. Hence today, the 2 decided to hold a press conference together.

This afternoon at 4pm, Ronald left his apartment and headed straight to the Jin Pai Da Feng office building. He looked very frustrated, and when reporters gathered around him, asking about the news of his marriage certificate being exposed, he replied: “See you all soon!” and then headed quickly into the lift.

At approximately 6pm, a large number of media arrived and there were over 100 reporters present. Everyone was waiting anxiously for the 2 main leads to appear.

Jerry Yan talks about his girl woes and a broken nose

Apart from being a rebellious teenager who partook in gang activities when he was younger, Taiwanese actor-singer Jerry Yan unknowingly dated a gang leader’s girlfriend and ended up with a broken nose.

Jerry came clean about his wild and rebellious past in his latest photo book, 9314 Man and Boy. The 33-year-old artiste described his high school years as a colourful one where he “had two different identities for school and after school.” He was a class monitor and goody-two-shoes in school, and became the underling of a gang after classes ended.

The strapping tall actor reckoned that growing up in a single-parent family has instilled “a fear of isolation” within him, and he wanted to “find a sense of belonging” somewhere.

HTC plans Windows Phone 7 Series device by year's end

In news apt to surprise absolutely no one, HTC CEO Peter Chou told Forbes this week that his company would make a Windows Phone 7 Series handset by the end of the year. For the sake of argument, we suppose there are a couple reasons he wouldn't want to. Historically, HTC has pledged loyalty to Microsoft time and again, even making the premium HD2 a Windows Mobile exclusive, but conspiracy theorists might suggest Microsoft returned the favor by denying the HD2 entry to Windows Phone 7 Series. Also, HTC has been rocking the bejeezus out of Android as of late -- the news that the company's planning a WP7S phone comes alongside HTC's claim that the Nexus One was a success. Regardless, we never questioned if HTC would build a WP7S handset, only when; there's no way they're going to let a lucrative new smartphone market get mopped up by the likes of Samsung and LG.

Leaked image says iPad lands at Best Buy... on launch day

We'd heard buzzing for some time now around the internet that Apple planned to sell its iPad in more than just it's own stores, and usually the name Best Buy was mentioned in the same breath... but now we've got some photographic evidence. The above shot comes from what looks to be an internal memo from the big box retailer, not only stating that the stores will be getting the iPad, but that they'll be getting the iPad on launch day. Now, there's no way for us to confirm that is 100 percent the real deal, but we speculated this could be coming back in mid-February, and there's lots of corroborating evidence to suggest this is no joke (such as COO Tim Cook explicitly mentioning the device would be sold at Best Buy) -- we just didn't expect to see it day one. We're digging for more info on this story, so stay tuned.
