Kinect 'in short supply' for the holidays

GameStop isn't pulling any punches with its expectations of product supply this holiday season.

Speaking to investors during an earnings call yesterday, GameStop president Tony Bartel said that customers shouldn't wait to get their hands on Kinect, Microsoft's motion-gaming peripheral that allows users to control on-screen action with only body movement.

"[Kinect] will be a hot item through the holiday season and the key opportunity will be just to continue to keep them in stock," Bartel said during the call, according to a transcript provided by SeekingAlpha. "So, whenever consumers do see Kinect and they want Kinect for the holiday season, they should pick it up because it will be in short supply in the holiday."

Apparently, Justin Bieber has a major Situation -- and Rihanna's seen it!

On Monday, Rihanna, 22, Tweeted: "Justin Bieber just flashed me his abs in the middle of a restaurant! Wow! He actually had a lil 6 pack! Sexy,lol!"

An insider confirms to UsMagazine.com that Rihanna and the 16-year-old singer had dinner that night in Manhattan with record exec L.A. Reid and other pals.

As the meal progressed, "Justin started bragging about how he has abs. Everyone started laughing but Justin was serious," says the source.

Eventually, Rihanna and her pals jokingly asked Bieber to show them.

"Justin took off his jacket, glasses and lifted up his shirt," the source explains. "Apparently he does have a little 6 pack!"

Adds the insider: "The table was hysterical."

When the "Only Girl" singer Tweeted the news, Bieber pleaded: "'You have to say it was sexy if you tweet it. You know it was sexy!'"

Rihanna will hit the stage this Sunday at the Nokia Thater in L.A. -- opening up the American Music Awards. UsMagazine.com has learned exclusively that she'll debut her live rendition of "Love the Way You Lie Part ii," followed by her number one smash "Only Girl (in the World)."

JJ Lin hospitalised with virulent flu virus

Singaporean singer JJ Lin has been hospitalised in Taipei on Thursday after complaining of a persistent high fever and breaking out in cold sweat, following days of round-the-clock filming for his new music video.

After undergoing blood tests and X-rays of his lungs, Lin was diagnosed with Influenza A (H1N1), a potent flu virus that spreads very quickly.

On orders of doctor, Lin has quarantined himself for the next five days.

Little Ng, an Artiste Management and Promotions executive at Lin's music label Ocean Butterfly Music said that Lin is now recovering, although "the fever comes back on and off".

She also clarified that Lin did not have 'Bird Flu' as some reports had suggested.

Lin's hospitalisation and subsequent quarantine has forced him to cancel three large-scale performances and a meet-the-fans session in China.

The 29-year-old singer has expressed regret over the cancellations and feels bad for disappointing his fans in China.

According to a statement from Ocean Butterfly Music, Lin lost an estimated 1.5 million Yuan (S$292,000) because of the cancellations.

Akon vows to never release any more Michael Jackson tracks

Whether you like it or not, Michael Jackson‘s first of many posthumous albums, Michael, is just weeks away from release. Earlier this week, “Hold My Hand,” produced by and featuring Akon, hit the Net as its official single. Even though he let this track out of his vault, don’t expect Akon to release any more M.J. collabs ever again. As he tells MTV in a recent interview, the only reason “Hold My Hand” is featured on Michael is that it’s actually a finished track.

“‘Hold My Hand’ was one of the records that was actually fully complete,” Akon says. “The rest of the ideas aren’t fully complete. They’re just ideas, concepts, and harmonies which the world will probably never see, because I would never put it out unfinished. So I might just burn it after this interview… We’ve done plenty of records outside of this. But they were just incomplete.” ‘Kon’s sentiment is similar is the Black Eyed Peas’ Will.i.am, who refuses to release any of the work he and Jackson did during the latter years of his life.

Michael is reportedly mostly comprised of several unfinished and scrapped songs from prior albums. Are you looking forward to the album?

The new Superman to be 28 to 32, maybe from TV, probably not Jon Hamm

Last month, when producer Christopher Nolan announced that Zack Snyder would be the director of the new Superman movie, I wildly speculated on ten possible actors for the role, to which our fair readers added a few candidates of their own. Then we whittled the list down to six, y’all voted in a Popwatch poll, and if nothing else, we all learned that Smallville‘s Tom Welling has quite the mobilized army of online fans.

Well, Smallville fans, I’ve got good news, kinda good news and not so good news. According to a Deadline report, Snyder and Nolan have started looking for their man of steel, casting the proverbial wide net for the right actor with the following qualifications: He’s currently on TV (that’s the good news) or more likely someone more-or-less unknown (that’s the not so good news), and he’s anywhere from 28 to 32 years old (that’s the kinda good news, since Welling is 33). While that age range seems a bit narrow for a supposedly wide net, believe you me, that’s pretty much the age range everyone looks in Hollywood.

Geeks get Ubuntu working on Samsung Galaxy Tab

You can always tell the geeks by the hardware and gadgets they use. Sure, your mom might get a Galaxy Tab, but will her Tab be running something as geeky as Ubuntu? I think not. If you are the sort of geek that lives to add alternative OS’s to hardware it wasn’t meant to run on, we have a project for you.



Some guys over at XDA forum have added Ubuntu to the Galaxy Tab. The user that did the deed first goes by the handle dviera88. He used directions that were posted by another user going by BThomas22x for installing Ubuntu on the Samsung Epic.

Before you can follow the directions for installing Ubuntu on the Epic with your Tab, you need to root the Tab. You will also need Busybox, Superuser, the Android SDK, AndroidVNC, and Terminal Emulator. Once you have all that software you are ready. Dviera88 says the instructions for the epic worked perfectly for the Tab. Let us know if you pull this off.

Could a baby be the reason behind Barbie Hsu and Chinese millionaire Wang Xiaofei's speedy marriage?

It could be, according to the Chinese media, after the normally vain Barbie was seen dressed in casual wear and wearing flats, quite unlike her usual high-heels-totting self.

The actress, who is usually cooperative with press photographers during filming, had tried all means to avoid the photographers while she was filming Da Wu Sheng in Shanghai recently. She'd cover herself with a black cloth during film breaks and had three umbrellas shield her from the cameras when she boarded a car.

The couple has denied the baby rumours. However Barbie is believed to be keeping mum as she's less than three months pregnant. According to Chinese traditions, a pregnany is only announced after it has hit the three months mark.

Barbie has, however, confirmed the news of her marriage to Xiaofei through a close pal yesterday and thanked everyone for their well-wishes.

The pair will be holding three wedding banquets in Hainan Island, Taipei and Beijing respectively in March next year. They would be having their honeymoon abroad before their banquet in Beijing.

Kim Jang Hoon criticizes Hankyung’s actions
