Breaking Dawn Update: It's Meyer vs. Summit!

Enough Nonsten nonsense stuff, let's take a quick break to go back to the whole damn thing that made Rob, Kristen, Taylor and the gang: the movies.

People get so wrapped up in these kids' private lives, we forget there's still tons of fun drama happening inside our favorite studio that brings The Twilight Saga to life!

Deep Twi tells us there is no director set yet for Breaking Dawn because no one can decide on whether it's going to be one movie or two.

It seems that series mastermind Stephenie Meyer and Summit have slightly different agendas on that one...

"Stephenie is calling the shots," our mole tells us, "and she still can't decide whether or not [making two movies] is the right thing to do creatively."

Deep Twi insists that everything—including splitting Breaking Dawn into two films—is run by Meyer (after all she penned the friggin' thing).

"Both sides have very different agendas," 'fesses our insider.

See, here's the breakdown...

Stephenie doesn't need the money, so what does she care? It's double the work to split this film up.

Adds our source:

"Meyer isn't in it for the fame. She hates doing press, and she doesn't want to be recognized for anything other than her work, so what's her incentive to drag [the book] out?"

Of course, we're assured she does want to please the fans, but isn't four films enough?

Summit is doing its best to "politely inspire" Stephenie to greenlight the two-flick route. For them, double the work equals double the money. Studios care more about that green stuff than an out-of-nowhere millionaire housewife.

"The right creative solution" is the term everyone is bantering about over at the studio, when basically, it's all about trying to convince Meyer to do it.

Says Deep Twi:

"They keep trying to persuade her it's the right thing to do artistically. They're constantly waiting for her input."

Jeez, is it actually harder for a devout Mormon to whore out her creative baby than, say, a reported Protestant like J.K. Rowling, who certainly had no difficulties milking the Harry Potter flicks for all they were worth?

Oh, and Steph, just some more food for thought: If you put the kibosh on an extra Twilight film, Twi-hards are going to have your rich little booty for din-din! Trust us, you'll be skinned alive, diced, fried and then flambéed alive.

These are fans you do not want to disappoint.

Lenovo Lephone gets officially pictured

Lenovo’s Lephone announcement at CES 2010 last week fell somewhat into the shadow of another new Android smartphone from a big-name manufacturer, the Dell Mini 3, but that’s not to say the Lenovo handset has no distinguishing features. Snap-on accessory keyboards aren’t new – the LG Versa on Verizon is a recent example – but we’re particularly feeling Lenovo’s curvy layout.

We’ll have to see whether centrally-positioning the D-pad makes sense ergonomically, but given we’ve complained both about left-side and right-side positions previously (Motorola CLIQ and DROID, we’re looking at you) at least it doesn’t make you stretch to reach the letter-keys. Meanwhile the high-polish chrome finish and angles certainly make it distinctive, and that’s pretty tough to do when most touchscreen-centric devices are gravitating toward a pretty generic aesthetic.

As for specifications, there’s a a 3.7-inch 480 x 800 touchscreen with a touch-control panel underneath, a WCDMA radio, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS, along with two cameras: a 3MP shooter on the back and a VGA one up-front for video calls. The Lephone is set to arrive in China sometime in the first half of 2010; no word on when – or if – the rest of us will get a sniff of it.

Blake Lively got naked in The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (although we didn't really see anything) and she'll be baring more in the Ben Affleck-directed crime drama The Town in September.

"I have a sex scene in this film and that's never comfortable," she says in the new issue of Esquire (out Jan. 19). "You think, 'Oh, this is going to be so awkward.' But this scene isn't supposed to be a steamy one - it's sort of tragic. ... I'm pretty much crying in it."

(In the same Esquire is a long interview with Rod Blagojevich with some classic lines, including: "I'm blacker than Barack Obama.")

Meanwhile, in other Lively news: She is set to join the cast of the Green Lantern, opposite Ryan Reynolds, reports Variety. Filming begins in March for a June 2011 release date.

Windows Mobile 7 actually delayed to 2011?

Although LG and other sources have apparently confirmed that Windows Mobile 7 would be released by the end of 2010, it looks like this may not happen.

Bright Side Of News has reportedly spoke with reps from Microsoft, HTC, Nvidia, Qualcomm, Lenovo, Texas Instruments, Nokia and others, which all said the same thing: Windows Mobile 7’s release is postponed to 2011. I’m not sure what Nokia has to do with WM7, but anyway…

Because of this delay, “dedicated Windows Mobile 7 cellphones and smartbooks are now being shifted to Android”. So it looks like manufacturers have already prepared the hardware for Windows Mobile 7 and they want to sell it as soon as possible, so they’re forced to look for other Operating Systems – and since Android is both free and quite popular lately, it’s a logical choice.

Of course, the alleged WM7 delay might be just bogus, so we’d better wait for something official about this to come from Microsoft.

Motorola XT720 to be Korea’s first Android phone

One of Motorola’s Android phones that appeared in China first, the XT701, will be released in South Korea next month via SK Telecom (the country’s largest mobile operator), under a different name: Motorola XT720.

According to Telecoms Korea, the XT720 will be South Korea’s first Android phone – so last year’s rumors seem to be more than just rumors after all.

Like the XT701 for China, Motorola XT720 features Android 2.0, a 3.7 inch WVGA touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and HDMI port. The XT720 also features mobile TV (T-DMB) and an 8MP photo camera with autofocus and flash.

Including the Motorola XT720, SK Telecom plans to launch about 13 Android phones this year. Its main rival, KT (which is the only carrier that sells the iPhone in Korea), will also introduce several Android handsets.

"14 Blades" opens official website

Kungfu film "14 Blades" released its theme song, and unveiled its official website early this week in Beijing. The flick will hit the big screen February 4th.

The Ming Dynasty action film tells the story of a trapped bodyguard of the emperor and his escape. He flees with his sweetheart.

"14 Blades" is described as the epic story of a secret agent in ancient China. It weaves the themes of loyalty, chivalry, brotherhood and of course romance. It's expected to showcase a dazzling mix of martial arts and espionage set against soul-stirring and majestic scenes.

Under the helm of director Daniel Lee, the period film is led by Kungfu star Donnie Yen.

Donnie Yen, lead actor, said, "I never thought to be called the King of Kungfu. Every actor has their own style. Each actor who has been performing for many years makes their own contributions. It's my luck that people like my films."

Though the director promises an action-packed 60 minutes, leading actor Yen promises more than just Kungfu.

Christina Ricci Joining Robert Pattinson In 'Bel Ami'

Actress has reportedly signed on to play opposite 'Twilight' star.

"New York, I Love You" star Christina Ricci is reportedly joining Robert Pattinson and Uma Thurman in the film "Bel Ami," according to a tweet from ProductionWeekly.com. A rep for Ricci had not responded to MTV News' requests for comment at press time.

"Bel Ami," filming for which is slated to begin next month in Paris, is an adaptation of an 1885 Guy de Maupassant short story and stars Pattinson as young journalist George Duroy, who rises from rags to riches by seducing Paris' influential society women. Ricci will play Clotilde de Marelle, the wife of an oft-away railway inspector who strikes up a relationship with Duroy. The film also stars Thurman as Clotilde's friend Madeleine Forestier, a onetime friend and mentor who becomes Duroy's lover, and Kristin Scott Thomas as another of Duroy's socialite paramours.

Nicole Kidman was rumored to be playing Madeleine, but she recently told MTV News that the role unfortunately did not fit into her schedule.

"I was [in talks for it], and we couldn't work out the dates," Kidman said.

For his part, Pattinson has said the social-climbing role will be much different from vampiric heartthrob Edward Cullen in "Twilight."

"It's a totally amoral character," Pattinson told Variety.

"Bel Ami" is the first post-"Twilight" movie Pattinson will film outside of Summit Entertainment, and the 23-year-old admitted he feels the need to prove himself. "Before 'Twilight' I did any movie that I got [offered], and you'd try and make the best of it afterward," he explained. "But now you're expected to come into the movie and provide not only economic viability, but also a performance as well. You can't just mess around. People are like, 'We're employing you to be here, as a star and an actor.' It's difficult, and it's scary."

In addition to "Bel Ami," Ricci has several projects slated for production this year, including the animated film "The Hero of Color City" and the drama "Long Time Gone."
