Why Lindsay Lohan Is So Unbankable; She Tweets Retirement From Clubbing

Lindsay Lohan was dropped from 'The Other Side' last week after the film's financial backers deemed her "unbankable," a sterile way of saying poor Linds has become, plain and simple, a bad investment.

How has a girl once compared to a young Jodie Foster and able to generate a 300 percent return on investment for a movie as bad as 'Herbie Fully Loaded' become box office kryptonite?

By making a lot of bad decisions.

It isn't just that Lindsay's history of partying and drug abuse have made her difficult to insure. No actor, if a studio believes they will be an asset to a film, is impossible to insure.

"Insuring a celebrity is just like insuring any person or product -- the more likelihood there is of a problem, the higher the insurance premium. Someone with a pre-existing record of misbehavior or health issues might be more expensive to insure on a film set, but that doesn't mean they can't get insurance at a price," explains Hollywood Reporter Features Managing Editor Matthew Belloni.

Spencer Pratt Kalls Out Kim Kardashian

The shark fin is in the water ... the Great White is hungry for celeb MEAT.

So Spencer Pratt proclaimed this morning. We'd say the guy needs to get a hobby instead of talking smack on Twitter all day, but who are we kidding.

He makes life more entertaining, and calls it like it is. Two weeks ago, we saw Kim Kardashian nude in Harper's Bazaar, embracing her "all natural" body.

The iPhone Leak Gets Ugly: Police Raid Gizmodo Editor’s House, Confiscate Computers & more

Wow. Last week, Gizmodo published a massive scoop when they got their hands on what is mostly likely the next iPhone. At the time there was plenty of talk about the legality of Gizmodo’s actions (as they admitted to paying $5000 for the device). Now Gizmodo has just published a post saying that editor Jason Chen had four of his computers and two servers confiscated last night by California’s Rapid Enforcement Allied Computer Team, who entered the house with a search warrant.

Gawker’s COO Gaby Darbyshire responded to the actions by citing California Penal Code 1524(g), which states that “no warrant shall issue for any items described in Section 1070 of the Evidence Code”, which protects information obtained in protection of a news organization. Darbyshire also points out that the California Court of Appeal has previously found that these protections apply to online journalists (O’Grady v. Superior Court).

In Gizmodo’s post, Chen recounts last night’s events. Chen wasn’t home when the raid began, and came home after officers had already been in his house for hours. Chen’s door was broken open because he wasn’t home to open it. He wasn’t arrested, but police seized external hard drives, four computers, two servers, phones, and more.

Android Motorola Ming MT820 emerges in live pics

It looks like Moto ain’t done churning out handsets with that eye-catching transparent outer flip yet, as evidenced by these recently leaked live pics of the still unannounced Motorola Ming MT820, a clamshell phone that’s coming to China with TD-SCDMA 3G network support.

Its design is nothing unusual for Motorola, which has produced similar-looking phones in the past. There’s a large touchscreen display and a front-facing camera sitting right above it, and the entire case itself doesn’t look that bad.

Google Maps gets 3D view of the world

Google on Monday augmented Google Maps with a feature called Earth view that brings the Google Earth software's 3D perspective to the Web browser.

Earth view is available through the installation of a browser plug-in Google originally issued in 2008. With it, people can see the contours of world--canyons and mountains, most dramatically--using the Google Earth fly-through interface.

Places with 3D building models look more interesting from ground level, but if your suburb hasn't received that treatment, the perspective mismatch can be a bit awkward when viewing the scene from an oblique angle farther from perpendicular.

You can try flicking the mouse to pan around, scrolling the mouse wheel to zoom in and out, and using Cntrl-drag to tilt the view from perpendicular to a more oblique angle. Google announced the Earth view on its corporate blog.

Viter Fan: Hit Cyndi twice, cheated on her? Surprised she wasn't a virgin at 17

Viter Fan and Cyndi Wang started dating in 2000 after being introduced by director Zhang Zhuo Chi, but it has been a constant on-off five year relationship, fettered with many rumours. After their breakup in 2005, all their issues were laid on the table and brought to light, including their sweet moments, cheating, and reasons for their breakup. Their vocal-less fighting has been confirmed through all these rumours by both parties, with the exception of one: allegations that Viter would rough Cyndi around. On April Fools Day this year, Viter uploaded an old photo of an intimate scene with then girlfriend Cyndi on his Facebook, starting rumours a-flurry once again. Neofonie's WePad tablet shown to German journalists, seems legit

Though "Neofonie" is the most apt name for a vaporware company we've heard since "Phantom," it's looking like that very firm's 11.6-inch WePad tablet is actually the real deal. Fed up with all the skepticism it has received of late, the German firm just held a press conference in Berlin to show off a pair of working devices and allay our fears. Netbooknews.de was on the scene, and they took a pair of high-res videos that prove the tablets do, in fact, have a working (though somewhat laggy) touchscreen, and that fancy-pants vertical UI is quite functional. Full screen YouTube videos were choppy, but they played, and the Atom N450 CPU loaded OpenOffice and flipped through browser windows without a hitch. But don't take our word for it -- watch the whole 25-minute demonstration after the break, plus a bonus video from AndroidPIT. Then, if you'd be so kind, tell us what the nice company reps are saying.
