Windows Phone 7 Seeing Supply Shortages Internationally

While the United States waits patiently for its time to release Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 mobile Operating System, international carriers have already begun selling devices to lucky consumers. But, it hasn’t been all that long since WP7 went on sale internationally, and unfortunately it sounds like supply shortages are beginning to plague carriers, as well as manufacturers.

Over the weekend, it has become apparent from information released by international carriers, like Orangue UK, that their stores are suffering from supply shortages of Windows Phone 7 handsets. It’s become bad enough that Microsoft has apparently told the carriers to expect limited quantities from this point on, and it isn’t just from one manufacturer, but includes both HTC and Samsung. The HTC Mozart and Samsung Omnia 7 appear to be the heaviest hit so far.

According to Mobile, Microsoft told premiere carrier Orangue UK that they would have to prioritize stock from day one. Employees of the carrier were told to provide phones for those who preordered the devices, as well as keep stock localized at corporate stores, while smaller retailers were left with the scraps. Customers of these carriers have already been provided with “rainchecks,” and told to come back as soon as they are notified that stock is ready.

Microsoft hasn’t come forward to say what’s going on, exactly, but word has it that the shortage is coming from a worldwide perspective, and affecting everyone involved. Meaning, it isn’t specific to the UK, nor is it just one carrier. The big question, though, will be the release here in the States, which is meant to kick off on November 8th. Will the supply shortage prevent AT&T and T-Mobile from selling as many devices as they could? We’ll know in a short while.

Archos wasn't going to settle for shipping a single Android device out today, no sirree -- the French PMP specialists are pumping out these 7-inch Archos 70 Internet Tablets effective immediately. $279 buys you a 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, 8GB of flash storage, and Android 2.2 running on an 800 x 480 capacitive multitouch screen, with an OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics accelerator, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth and a front-facing VGA camera in an 11oz, 0.43-inch thin package that screams to be held. Sadly, you still won't find Android Market on here, though we'll give Archos credit for ditching most of the proprietary connectors and ports, which should make sideloading your own apps somewhat less of a chore. (There's also a microSDHC card slot.) Expect a 250GB hard-drive model to debut any day now for $350... along with our full review.

Ubuntu may be the Linux distribution of choice for many these days, but it's hardly the only game in town, and one of the other big players has now gotten an update that might just sway some folks back to its team. That comes in the form of the Red Hat sponsored Fedora 14, which is aimed specifically at "developers, system administrators and open source enthusiasts." If that includes you, you can expect to get a slew of mostly behind-the-scenes updates, including a new software framework for Spice desktop virtualization, a range of new debugging features, an updated tech preview of the GNOME shell environment that will be part of the upcoming GNOME 3.0 release and, of particular note, some software from the MeeGo community that promises an "enhanced experience on netbooks and small devices." As with previous Fedora releases, it's also available in a number of different "spins" to suit your tastes and needs and it's, of course, completely free. Download on fedoraproject.org

TV show to reveal behind-the-scenes details of Jonghyun & Shin Se Kyung’s date

After having previously revealed their relationship to the public, the Shin Se Kyung and Jonghyun couple’s behind-the-scenes dating secrets will be revealed on SBS E!TV’s “Tak Jae Hoon Style – Weird Search Terms” on November 3rd.

The reporter that reported on the couple’s dating rumors will be revealing their date scene himself.

Their relationship was first made official on October 27th, shocking the public for being the first idol couple to confidently admit to and confirm rumors.

The reporter stated, “Being a young couple, they didn’t even wear hats as they confidently enjoyed their date in public. They did not acknowledged the reporters around them and continued on with their harmonious date.”

What Was the "Ashley Greene Effect" on Demi Lovato's Breakdown?

"Tonight. Was. Incredible."

Just one of Ashley Greene's tweets (along with a backstage twit pic) last night after watching boyfriend Joe Jonas perform in Ecuador. News also broke last night that Demi Lovato had checked herself into a treatment center for issues reportedly ranging from cutting to bulimia.

Heart the babe, but if we had to guess, we doubt A.G. felt too bad about, since over the weekend Lovato had a meltdown, hurling threats toward Joe's new GF:

During an airport scuffle in Peru, when Demi allegedly struck a back-up dancer, she turned her anger toward Ashley, who had just arrived in South America for a brief visit with Joe before Breaking Dawn filming starts this week.

We haven't gotten specifics of the "verbal threats" Lovato made against Greene, but we're told Joe came right to Ashley's rescue (as if the feisty babe needed it tho).

We hear "Demi Drama" (as she was known on tour) never got over the split with Joe and was hurt by how fast he moved on with the Twilight star. But in Greene's defense, it's not like Joe left Demi for her.

We wish Lovato a speedy recovery. It takes guts to realize when you need to help yourself. Better now than ignoring the problem and ending up like Lindsay Lohan, no?

Hopefully she'll be able to realize...All this over a Jonas? Hon, we can think of much better men who are suited for ya.

Miley Cyrus' Mom Had Affair With Bret Michaels

Just one week after Miley Cyrus' parents Billy Ray and Tish filed for divorce, Star Magazine is reporting a surprising reason for the split--Tish's alleged affair with rock star Bret Michaels. And PopEater has an exclusive look at Star's cover.

"Billy Ray suspects there's been something going on between his wife and Bret for a long time," an insider tells Star. And according to the source, Tish is just Michaels' type: "skinny, big boobs and blonde hair." Tish, the source continues, wasn't innocent. She "would always show up to the studio in tight jeans and revealing T-shirts and flirt shamelessly with Bret."

Another source close to the situation tells Us that Michaels "became close to the entire family" while he and Miley recorded and released the racy duet 'Nothing to Lose' earlier this year. It was during that time that Michaels and Tish began seeing each other.

Billy Ray was "ashamed of Tish's behavior and he wants out of this mess," a source said. The country crooner is seeking joint custody of their three minor children, Miley, 17, Braison, 16, and Noah, 10.

Michael's rep denies the report to PopEater. Tish's rep also denies any wrongdoing. But a source close to the story insists, "It was a professional relationship that turned into something more."

Samsung Continuum appears on Verizon Wireless website

The much-rumored Samsung Continuum has made an appearance on a Verizon Wireless website, providing the first official confirmation of the phone’s imminent release. The Continuum popped up on a special page focused on holiday gift ideas, which features three Galaxy S devices from Samsung: the Fascinate, the Galaxy Tab and the Continuum. Though no other information is provided on Verizon’s site, the Continuum will reportedly feature a 3.4-inch Super-AMOLED touchscreen display above a secondary 1.8-inch Super-AMOLED display, mobile hotspot capability, a 5-megapixel camera with HD video recording, 2GB of internal storage, microSDHC support and Android 2.1. The Samsung Continuum is expected to be announced at a Samsung media event on November 8th, with a release date rumored to follow on November 11th.

Having made their comeback with “Hoot,” the members of SNSD recently met with reporters on November 2nd in order to share their thoughts on their achievements as the new Hallyu leaders.

- Do you feel the level of your popularity in Japan?

Taeyeon: “I was really surprised when I heard ‘Gee‘ as the ring tone of a random passerby. One time, a French person even noticed who we were.”

Tiffany: “I left the house with my face covered and went into the city. I saw a crowd of about 10 or so teenage girls taking a picture with our SNSD pose.”

Sandara Park described her relationship with Big Bang’s Taeyang on this week’s Strong Heart. The charismatic 2NE1 member talked about her friendship with Taeyang and expressed her honest thoughts.

She stated, “I don’t know if I should call it an ill-fated or an incompatible relationship. Taeyang seems really nice and suave on the outside but in reality he’s just a rascal that doesn’t know much about women. He usually pinches me and rolls me around on the floor in the practice room to tease me.”

She added, “One day, I wasn’t feeling well but he didn’t even notice and started to roll me around again. I started crying and ran to the bathroom. I know that he’s just being friendly to his noona but it catches me off guard. Taeyang is becoming really popular amongst the female fans but to me, he’s last on my list in terms of Big Bang members.”

Taylor Swift, Jake Gyllenhaal Have Flirty Ice Cream Date

Coast-to-coast cuddlefests!

After flirty dates in and around NYC on Oct. 23 and 24, Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal shared a happy Halloween weekend in California.

First, they hit the pool at the Post Ranch in Big Sur.

"Taylor laughed at everything Jake said," a witness tells the new Us Weekly. "At one point, she measured herself against Jake on her tiptoes." (An observer adds that Gyllenhaal "held her hand.")

Then, late on Monday, Swift, 20, and Gyllenhaal, 29, stopped for an ice cream break at McConnell's, 200 miles south in Santa Barbara.

"They looked at all the flavors and couldn't decide, so they asked the counter girls for help," a staffer says of the duo, who were "happy" and "friendly."

Swift -- whose new album Speak Now sold 1 million copies in its first week -- chatted up a worker in the back. "Taylor was very interested in what I was doing in the back making ice cream and said, 'Wow, you guys are legit!'" the scoop girl added.

Their ice cream picks, which Gyllenhaal paid for: Swiss chocolate chip for him, yogurt with rainbow sprinkles for her.

After savoring their treats inside McConnell's for about 20 minutes, the pair split. When they were approached by excited college-age fans in the parking lot, they "happily obliged" for photos.

Adds the staffer: "They smiled a ton!"
