Verizon releases a Droid X teaser

Verizon may be hosting a Droid X event on June 23, but that’s not the date when the new smartphone will be available for purchase. So when will it be?

Well, an official Motorola Droid X video teaser (posted by Verizon via its YouTube channel) suggests that the handset will be out sometime in July (07.2010) – thus one month earlier than the Droid 2. No word on the exact launch date, and neither on the price. In fact, the video’s completely void of other details.

Anyway, we already know quite a few things about the Droid X, including most of its important features: Android 2.1 with enhanced MotoBlur, 4.3 inch WVGA touchscreen display, HDMI out, 8MP camera and HD video recording.

I think Verizon will sell both the Droid X and the Droid 2 for the same price: $200 on contract. Sales of the Droid 2 will probably be higher, since it has a full QWERTY keyboard, it’s smaller and not much thicker than the Droid X (which will appeal to those who don’t care if their smartphone is really big).
