The director of currently airing Taiwanese idol drama "Gloomy Salad Days" recently praised the young and promising cast of the drama, including Aaron Yan and Serena Fang, but also lamented on Taiwan lacking a suitable film production environment catered specifically for young and aspiring actors.
As the dark idol drama is nearing the end of its six months of filming, lead actress Serena commented that she "had an empty feeling". On the other hand, fellow co-star Aaron gave a more optimistic reply by saying that the end of the filming is just an opportunity for a new start, and that he was looking forward to the chance of making a new spark.
As the cast held a finale drinking party to mark the end of the filming for the drama, the director jokingly pretended to make a big fuss with regards to Aaron and Serena's "bed scene" making the director feel embarrassed at its mature tone. While the director felt that the young cast for the drama has given them the ambition to make a breakthrough in acting, it appeared to her that there is not much market in the Taiwanese television market to cater to their demographics. As a result, they have little choice but to advance themselves through their status as idols.
Despite the current state of the film production environment for young acting talents, the director for "Gloomy Salad Days" nonetheless continued to compliment Aaron for his maturing acting skills and Serena for maintaining her acting professionalism while being burdened with wearing the elaborate Death costume for the drama.
