Her enormous fan base ranges from adults to primary school-aged children.
But Rihanna's impressionable young fans don't seem to be a consideration for the provocative singer when she gets dressed.
The Umbrella hitmaker happily greeted and posed for pictures with a group of children and teenage fans last night in New York - But their parents may not be too pleased when they see the photographs.
The 22-year-old was wearing a gold necklace with the words F*** You when she was surrounded by the delighted youngsters outside her downtown hotel.
The group were accompanied by some adults, who either didn't notice or didn't mind the offensive jewellery.
But other parents may not be so laid back about one of their children's idols promoting the rude phrase.
Rihanna was otherwise dressed in her typical stylish best in electric blue ankle boots, fuzzy black jumper, beanie and a matching patterned skirt.
The Bajan beauty was on her way to dinner at one of her favourite New York eateries, Da Silvano.
She is currently celebrating a stellar few weeks in the charts with two separate singles at number one on either side of the pond.
Hit track Only Girl in the World, which she performed a fortnight ago on the X Factor, has remained at number one in the UK for a second consecutive week.
The uptempo song managed to hold on to the top spot despite Take That's much anticipated comeback single The Flood entering the charts last week.
Meanwhile her latest offering What's My Name, a collaboration with Canadian artist Drake, has just reached number one in America.
Rihanna thanked her fans, who she calls her 'Navy' on Twitter, writing: 'Holy s***! What's my name just passed Only Girl, went no.1! My Navy is strong! This is the best news, 2 top 5 songs, THANK U.'
The album, loud, has been dubbed a return to form for the singer, following last year's Rated R.
The darker album she made last year was released during the fallout of her assault from former boyfriend Chris Brown, but Loud is a return to the uptempo, dance floor-fillers she made her name with.
