JYPE could not stop Sunmi’s withdrawal request

JYP Entertainment revealed that they could not stop Sunmi due to legal reasons. The main reason is the Fair Trade Commission’s standard contract, which JYPE accepted in November of last year. As the new contract terms enforce, artists with exclusive contracts now have a greater level of decision-making authority.

A JYPE associate said:

If it was before the new contract policies, we couldn’t even imagine Sunmi’s withdrawal from the group. If it was up to us, we would’ve stopped Sunmi. The artists have more personal freedom now.

Sammi and Andy back together?

They dated for 13 years before splitting in 2004 but if rumours are to be believed, Hong Kong singer Andy Hui and ex-girlfriend Sammi Cheng are back together.

Cheng, 37, was photographed leaving Hui's Kowloon home after spending five hours there on January 16, sparking rumours that the pair have reunited.

Hui, 42, told reporters that he "will not respond" to rumours and when asked what his current girlfriend, model Michelle Yu, thought about his rendezvous with Cheng, Hui replied, "I'm not talking."

Hui's admission comes soon after Hong Kong entertainment magazine Oriental Sunday reported that Cheng had been photographed at his home that night at 8pm and was later spotted leaving with a smile at 1am.

Hui apparently hosted a barbecue that night, which was attended by his friends like actor Dicky Cheung and singer Eric Suen.

Sam Worthington takes on "Dracula Year Zero"

Sam Worthington, making his first deal since the success of "Avatar," is in negotiations to star in "Dracula Year Zero."

The Universal project explores the origin of Dracula, weaving vampire mythology with the true history of Prince Vlad the Impaler. It seeks to depict Dracula as a flawed hero in a tragic love story set in a dark age of magic and war.

Alex Proyas ("The Crow") will direct from a spec script by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. The project has no start date and is still in development. Web site Latino Review first reported Worthington's involvement.

By playing Dracula, Worthington is continuing to take on larger-than-life roles and big studio projects. While he will be seen in the Helen Mirren thriller "The Debt," his next role is Greek hero Perseus in "Clash of the Titans." Last summer he played a cyborg in "Terminator Salvation."

Jennifer Lopez “How I Met Your Mother” Guest Appearance

Jennifer Lopez will guest star on an upcoming episode of the CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother, USA TODAY said Wednesday.

The “Louboutins” singer/ will play Anita Appleby, “a no-nonsense self-help guru teaching women how to ‘train’ men in relationships through the power of denial.”

“We couldn’t be more excited about Jennifer Lopez joining us on ‘How I Met Your Mother,’” said series executive producer and co-creator Carter Bays. “We’re looking forward to a week of revealing outfits and sexy dance moves the likes of which this show hasn’t seen since Regis Philbin guest starred.”

Jennifer meets her “Mother” this March.

In related news, HIMYM — which aired its 100th episode this month — has been renewed for a sixth season.

“Sex And The City 3″ Filming?

Another big screen follow-up to HBO’s groundbreaking television comedy Sex and the City is set for release in May — and Hollywood tattles tell The Sun that Carrie & Co (best known as Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, and Kim Cattrall) are already busy filming the third and last movie in the SATC series.



“There is also a third movie on the go. It’s under wraps for publicity reasons,” the source said. “It makes sense to film the second and third movies back to back. The characters will look a lot younger on screen when the third movie is out in a couple of years. They’re keen to look as young as possible because that movie will be their last. They want to go out on a high.”

Taylor Swift, Joe Jonas “Reconnecting”

HAS Taylor Swift rekindled her romance with former flame Joe Jonas?

She just might have!

In a recent interview, the Jonas Brothers rocker revealed that he and Swift are mending their relationship.

“We’ve been kind of reconnecting, which is good,” said Joe.

“I hope she wins a Grammy. She deserves it.”

Swift and Jonas dated briefly in 2008.

On November 11, 2008, in an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Swift claimed that Jonas broke up with her in a 27-second phone call.

Taylor, 20, recently split from Twilight star Taylor Lautner.

China: Law-abiding Android phones are OK

Google and China disagree about censorship of Web search results, but a spokesman for China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said Wednesday that phones using Google's Android operating system are permissible.

"As long as it fulfills Chinese laws and regulations and has good communication with telecom operators, I think its application should not have restrictions," said Zhu Hongren, the spokesman at a news briefing, according to the Associated Press.

Of course, China permitted Google's Web search service, too, as long as it complied with the law. But those terms ultimately proved objectionable to Google, which said earlier this month it will stop censoring search results even if that means it has to shut down its Chinese operations.

Jay & Jolin's bowling date spawns conspiracy theory

He questioned the press why he would be so high-profile if the rumors were true. Jay Chou explained, “When I want to go out with my friends, I’m not like most people, I can’t just go whenever I want to. It’s a rare opportunity to gather with my friends. But some media like to make up stories, and their readers end up discussing about it after they read them.”

A fan stirred up some controversy recently after sharing Facebook messages posted by a group of Jolin’s friends in a Jay Chou forum. There were comments like “ChouXX, you have ruined the harmony of the Tsai gang”, “setup”, “selling photos”, “Thank you ChouXX for the special guest appearance”. Fans turned suspicion into conspiracy theory, and believed that Jay Chou was setup by Jolin and the gang so paparazzi can photograph Double J together.

Utada ends relationship

JPop star Hikaru Utada (27) has reportedly broken up with her boyfriend. She was dating an artist eight years older than her, but sources say they drifted apart due to a lack of time together.

The media in Japan first reported on Utada's relationship last September, though the singer said that she had already revealed the romance in earlier interviews in the U.S. However, Utada started preparing for her current overseas tour, resulting in less time for the couple. They ultimately broke up, and now Utada is focused on her music career.

Her tour started on January 15 in Honolulu and visits a total of eight cities in the U.S. After that, she will perform in London on February 12.

Utada has been one of the top artists in Japan since her 1999 debut album "First Love," which currently holds the record as the best-selling Japanese album of all time. She unexpectedly married director Kazuaki Kiriya (41) in 2002, but they divorced in 2007.
