Ke$ha's 'Animal' moves to the top of Billboard album chart

It was only matter of time before the slumbering chart giant that is Susan Boyle would wake up from her dream. We just didn't think Ke$ha would be the artist to rouse her.

The "TiK ToK" belter has succeeded where Rihanna, Adam Lambert, Andrea Bocelli, Alicia Keys, Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige and Robin Thicke all failed, toppling the humble Scottish reality star from the top of the charts after a six-week run at No. 1.

Ke$ha's Animal debuted this week with a better-than-expected 152,000 copies sold, per Nielsen SoundScan, a figure that was no doubt helped along by her album being sold on the cheap (yours for just $6.99 on Amazon and iTunes!). Still, Boyle sold an impressive 93,000 of I Dreamed a Dream.

But Ke$ha did one better—one big one better—than her chart-topping predecessor…

The 22-year-old bouncing blonde became the first artist in nearly two years to have her debut album and single simultaneously reach No. 1. The last crooner to accomplish such a feat was Leona Lewis back in April 2008, who managed it with Echo and "Bleeding Love."

So sure, SuBo's "I Dreamed a Dream" may never have topped the singles charts, but what's a No. 1 hit when you've attained global YouTube infamy?

Check out the rest of this week's top 10 albums:
