'American Idol': Christina Aguilera reveals she'll appear on the finale

On the heels of visits from Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus, American Idol is welcoming yet another diva to this show this year: Christina Aguilera. The singer revealed yesterday during a radio interview that she’ll appear on the show’s season finale on May 26, according to MTV, although Fox would not confirm the report. There are scant few details beyond the fact that she’ll be singing and that her visit is, conveniently, just a week before she drops her new album, Bionic, on June 8. The first single from the album, “Not Myself Tonight,” has already hit the ‘net, but it leaves something to be desired. Hopefully her next, and better, single will be out in time for her to perform on Idol.

Of this news, I must say: It excites me. Granted, it doesn’t sound like she’ll be mentoring since it’s the finale — and goodness knows this year’s crop could use a little bit of help from a superstar like Aguilera. But I’m just happy to see her. I’ve missed Xtina lately, and I’m ready to welcome her and her Bionic self back with open arms. Personally, I’m hoping that her Bionic reincarnation is a little more Stripped, a little less Back to Basics, if you know what I mean, and I hope she showcases it all on the Idol stage.
