It takes a lady with outstanding beauty to pull off the iconic image of Queen Cleopatra and Thandie Newton pulls it off with relative ease.
The British actress oozes sex appeal as she takes on the role of the Egyptian queen - a role that Elizabeth Taylor stamped her mark on back in 1963.
Thandie, 37, smoulders into the camera for one of the black and white shots which show off the actress' striking features to maximum effect.
In another photo she reclines on a chair in a flowing dress, revealing her enviable legs, with a bejewelled crown on her head.
The series of pictures have been released to coincide with the Virgin Media Shorts film competition which showcases up and coming talent.
Last year's awards featured actors Gemma Arterton and Kevin Spacey on the judging panel, with the £30,000 prize eventually going to Luke Snelling for his film Mixtape.
Miss Newton follows in the footsteps of Elizabeth Taylor and, most recently, Kim Cattrall in playing the infamous Egyptian queen.
It was Taylor, 78, who really made the role her own when she starred in the 1963 Hollywood production of the story of Anthony and Cleopatra.
Starring alongside Richard Burton and Rex Harrison, the actress was the epitome of beauty at the time and set the benchmark for other Cleopatra's to be measured against.
In other news Thandie Newton has become the new face of Olay as the cosmetic brand celebrates its 10th anniversary.
The actress will front the campaign for the cosmetic giant’s Total Effects range.
Her next big screen appearance will be in Huge, a comedy directed by TV comedian Ben Miller.
