Charlie Sheen Jailed on Domestic Abuse Charge

Charlie Sheen finds himself in trouble on Christmas Day, arrested in Aspen on charges related to domestic violence.

The 'Two and a Half Men' star now spends Christmas night in the Pitkin County Jail after he allegedly shoved wife Brooke Mueller, according to a source of Radar Online.

The star of CBS' "Two and a Half Men" was taken into custody on suspicion of second-degree assault and menacing, both felonies, along with criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, an Aspen police spokeswoman told the AP.

Police arrested the 44-year-old actor after responding to a 911 call regarding a report of domestic violence at 8:34 a.m. at a historic house up for sale for $7.5 million. The alleged victim in the case, whose name was withheld, did not have to be taken to the hospital, police said.

Police said Sheen will be held without bond until his first court appearance in this ski resort town about 200 miles west of Denver. The court was closed for Christmas, and no date for his appearance has been set.

Jail officials said Sheen wasn't available to comment. After-hours messages left for his managers weren't immediately returned.

Dasaro said Sheen would be advised of any bond conditions when he appears in court. Colorado law requires protection orders between people arrested in domestic violence cases and their alleged victims.

TMZ reports that Mueller called 911 claiming Sheen assaulted her, but that Sheen told law enforcement that Brooke was the aggressor and he was just fending her off.

Brooke Mueller Sheen gave birth to the couple's first children, twin boys, in March. They married in May 2008 following Sheen's bitter divorce from Denise Richards.

Charlie Sheen's screen credits include "Platoon," "Wall Street" and the "Hot Shots!" movies. He nearly died of a drug overdose in 1998 but received court-ordered rehabilitation.

A source of RadarOnline.com says that Sheen and Mueller have been having significant marital problems.

Sheen flew to be with Brooke for Christmas, despite their problems but things got out of control almost right away.

The Wonder Of Apple’s Tablet

In 2007, just prior to its launch, I was absolutely positive I wasn’t going to buy an iPhone. My rationale was that I didn’t even like using a cellphone, so why would I want a $600 one? What I wanted was a touch screen iPod — basically, an iPhone without the phone. In other words, I wanted an iPod touch, but that didn’t exist yet, so I would sit back and wait, I told myself. Then came iPhone launch day: June 29, 2007. Curiosity about the launch day hoopla drove me to an Apple store. There was a line around the block just to get in. So again, there was no way I was getting an iPhone. But then I started to wonder why so many people were lined up for this device — what was I missing? A few hours later I returned to the Apple Store. I waited in a much shorter line to get in. I walked up to the iPhones out on display, picked one up, played with it for all of 10 seconds. I left the Apple store $600 poorer.

My point in telling that story is that all signs indicate that we’re closing in on another new Apple product, a tablet computer. And the hype around it is already palpable. But so is the skepticism among many — skepticism similar to what I felt with the iPhone. “Why would anyone want a tablet computer?” “It will be way too expensive, no one will buy it.” “This is all just nonsense Apple hype.” Those are a few of the more common reactions against the still-mysterious device. But I’m not going to be tricked again. Conventional wisdom suggests that Apple will not be able to succeed where so many others have failed. But Apple makes billions defying conventional wisdom.

The truth is that most of us don’t understand the allure of a tablet computer because they’ve all sucked up until now. It’s the exact same reason that I didn’t understand the iPhone at first. My cellphones leading up to the iPhone ranged from “okay” to “junk.” The idea of getting one with such a high price tag was insanity to me. But within seconds of using the iPhone, I was able to tell that Apple had made something completely different. It wasn’t a cellphone as I had known them. It redefined the category. And while there are no sure things in the tech world, I would bet that Apple’s tablet will do the same.

If an outsider were to look at the tech news coverage of the past few days, they’d think there is an oddly disproportionate amount of Apple tablet talk. Why is that? The lazy answer is that everyone is a bunch of Apple fanboys. But the reality is that it’s dozens of blogs and all the mainstream media sites covering this news about a product which no one is even 100% sure exists. Everyone is covering it because there is a huge amount of interest about the device among each site’s readership. And it goes far beyond that. People outside the tech world, those who don’t ever read tech blogs, have been asking me about it recently. And Apple’s stock is at an all-time high based on the rumors of this device.

Part of it is that Apple has a sterling record with consumer-oriented products. Sure, there are some duds, like the Mighty Mouse. And yes, there are some slip-ups, like my new iLemon. But overall, Apple commands attention in the consumer space because more often than not, they nail it. Going deeper, Apple is not afraid to step outside of the traditional comfort zones to try to create a new product — even if others have failed there before, as is the case with tablets. While this stirs skepticism in some, in many more people, it creates a sense of wonder. What if Apple can do it right this time? It’s exciting partially because it’s no sure thing. It’s exciting because the payoff is potentially huge. By this time next year, we may have a whole new genre of computing. It’s an undiscovered country.

But it’s also familiar. There’s a quote from the first season of Mad Men that I think applies in this regard. “But he also talked about a deeper bond with the product. Nostalgia. It’s delicate, but potent,” Don Draper says leading up to his Kodak Carousel presentation. The core idea of a tablet is interesting to people on a fundamental level. At least as far back as Moses with the Ten Commandments, it has been a part of the human psyche. It’s something that couldn’t be simpler. It’s a slate that displays information. It’s not a computer with a mess of peripherals and/or physical buttons. If a media and web-centric computer were being designed today with no thought to what the computing norms of the past were, it would be a tablet.

It also points to the future of interacting with computers. The mouse and keyboard will one day die and everything will be touch and gesture-based. We’ll be living in a future with Minority Report, Star Trek, and Avatar interactive technology. To many of us, few things are more exciting. To others, that concept is foreign and as such, scary. Regardless, it will happen and the tablet computer is the latest, and perhaps most important step in a line of technology taking us there.

I think a lot of people understand that, even if they don’t realize it. That’s why we saw so much interest in the CrunchPad. It was to be a simple, touchscreen device that you could surf the web on. For many people, that’s more than enough of a computer.

And the truth is that Apple has already proven the concept. The iPhone is a tablet computer, just smaller. Recently, a former Apple employee was quoted in the New York Times as saying that much of the early work on the tablet exists today in the iPhone. The iPhone is the computer I use the most now day in and day out. And again, I never thought I’d want one. So while the immediate use of the tablet in our homes already riddled with computer may not be apparent just yet, I have no doubt that it will prove itself to be very useful.

I have no idea what the tablet will be called (Robin lays out a comprehensive tale of why it may be the “iSlate”), what its specs will be, or how much it will cost. But I’m not going to make the mistake of dismissing it like I did with the iPhone simply because its practicality isn’t immediately apparent. If it succeeds, it will likely redefine the role of computing in our lives just as the iPhone has. That’s exciting. And that’s why we care so much about it.

China blames online games for drugs, murder, teen pregnancy

China's state news channel has blamed hugely popular online games for problems including drug addiction, teen pregnancy and even murder this month as regulators crack down on allegedly harmful content in games.

In a program titled "Confession of a Murderer -- Focus on Pornography and Violence in Online Games (Part Two)," China Central Television (CCTV) on Thursday reported on a Beijing juvenile prison where one man was serving a life sentence for murders he committed to obtain virtual equipment in an online game. Up to 80 percent of the violent criminals in the prison turned to crime because of online games, the report said.

"He himself killed five people, and the reason he took the path to crime was addiction to violent online games," it said.

The program follows other CCTV reports this month that have blamed social ills on online games and given voice to concerns among some Chinese parents that excessive time spent on games and social-networking sites is interfering with their children's schoolwork.

The reports, which also come amid a wide-reaching government campaign against Internet pornography, show how erratic political conditions can threaten companies operating in China. Chinese regulators this year have shut down dozens of online games designed overseas and ordered developers to stop including "lowbrow" content like monster-hunting in games. A struggle between government agencies for the right to regulate online games has further roiled the industry and helped send the hit game World of Warcraft offline for three months earlier this year.

Chinese state media have long criticized online games. The last installment of the CCTV series told the story of a 14-year-old girl purportedly influenced by an online dancing game to start having sex with people she met online. The game, called "Audition," was said to encourage one-night stands and the girl to have had two abortions.

CCTV this month also aired a report on teenagers who became addicted to cough medicine and then drugs like methamphetamine as a way to keep their energy up during all-night gaming marathons. The boys were said to spend their time in Internet cafes, which are often filled with chain-smoking young men using instant-messaging programs and playing online games.

China has the largest number of Internet users in any country with at least 338 million people online. Over 210 million of those people play online games, according to a government survey.

Apple iSlate – Irrefutable evidence that’s the name of the new tablet

Yes, it’s Christmas but this Apple rumor is too juicy to wait. It’s true; Apple’s tablet may indeed be called iSlate! MacRumors discovered via historical evidence that Apple purchased the domain name iSlate.com from Data Docket, Inc. in 2007. Mark Monitor manages domain names for many companies, including Apple. Even though the true identity of the domain name was set to private, there was a small window where Apple’s ownership info was exposed and then changed back a few weeks later. iSlate.com doesn’t point anywhere for now, but there are lots of speculations of Apple announcing a tablet early 2010.

TechCrunch dug a lot deeper and found other iSlate domain names registered around the world. The United Kingdom is a big market for Apple – Mark Monitor also manages the iSlate domain name islate.co.uk. It’s the same company that also manages the iSlate domain names iSlate.jp and iSlate.cn, while in France iSlate.fr is managed by a Paris-based IP property attorney firm called Wilson & Berthelot. This company named Mark Monitor as the technical contact for the islate.fr domain name.

The plot thickens with the iSlate trademark here in the United States. Back on November 21, 2006 a company called Slate Computing filed for a US word mark for ‘ISLATE’. Interestingly, it’s roughly the same time frame of when the last three islate-related domain names were registered.

Everything is pointing to an Apple iSlate. If rumors are true, the announcement could come as early as January 26th, 2010.

SNSD is coming to the US?

I'm sorry to say but no. But it turns out Koreans think they are fully capable of doing so.

Many people have been trying hard to break in to the US market such as Wonder Girls, Crown J, Rain, Lee Byung Hun, BoA, and Se7en. But out of all the other Korean artistes, which seem like they have a chance in the States?

At Bugs music site they held a a poll, "Which musician could make it in America?" and SNSD won with 29% of the votes. Nothing against the girls but really? In my opinion, they are really far off from what America is looking for. They're cute, I'll give them that, but who would take them seriously here?

Netizens argued, "SNSD has 9 girls and some can speak English. They can pull off all concepts. If they get a good producer, they would be successful." If that's the case, shouldn't most Korean artistes who have tried to make it in the US, have made it already since they always seem to get the best producers.

Another netizen commented, "In the US, they love Asian women. I think girl groups have a better chance than the boy groups."

2nd place went to 2PM. Netizens said, "JYP has a lot of connections in America so they would have an advantage," and "2PM's amazing performances would gather attention."

They chose Big Bang for third place. And Rain took 4th place. Ouch, the one guy that's actually done work in America gets fourth place. 2NE1 took fifth place and Wheesung took sixth.

Where are the Wonder Girls in this?

Eminem to play first gig for five years in the UK after agreeing to drop homophobic lyrics

Eminem will return to the British stage for the first time in five and a half years after promising to tone down his homophobic lyrics.

Organisers of the Wireless Festival in Hyde Park have persuaded the rapper to drop his gratuitously anti-gay songs to avoid any demonstrations.

Following Eminem's pledge, they have agreed a deal with gay rights groups not to picket the event next summer.

The last time Eminem toured the country in 2001, gay rights group OutRage! protested outside his shows, saying his lyrics were homophobic.

Event organisers were said to be worried that another such protest would cause major disruption to Wireless, which attracts tens of thousands of people.

A festival insider said: “This is a huge signing for Wireless and it will be the hottest ticket this summer.

“The organisers were afraid campaigners could potentially ruin the event. So there was a lot of to-ing and fro-ing and Eminem only agreed to sign up when assurances had been made that there would not be any protests.

“It was very touch-and-go but he has finally agreed to appear. Any kind of demonstration against him could have been disastrous.

“He will be bringing a huge entourage of security with him but there is still the risk that protesters may picket the hotel he stays in.”

OutRage! spokesman David Allison said: “We have a condition that he does not use lyrics that encourage or incite hatred against gay people.

“He is free to express his views on gay people, as long as he stays off the violence and hatred. He has got plenty of other lyrics to choose from. In recent years he has become quite well-behaved.

“I think he realises singing songs advocating hate and violence just won’t wash any more. Society’s moved on in the last 10 years.”

Activists picketed his 2001 shows, waving banners and the rainbow flag of the gay movement while chanting “stop the bigotry”.

Although Eminem claims his lyrics are not meant to be taken seriously, gay rights groups objected to his use of the word “faggot” and called him a “gay-basher”.

For instance in Kill You on the 2000 Marshall Mathers album which sold 10 million copies, he singer: 'You faggots keep eggin' me on/til I have you at knifepoint, then you beg me to stop?/SHUT UP! Give me your hands and feet/I said SHUT UP when I'm talkin' to you/YOU HEAR ME? ANSWER ME!'

Eminem was to perform in London in 2005 but cancelled the European leg of his world tour citing “exhaustion”, although it later emerged he was addicted to sleeping pills.

He returned for a secret show at the O2 Academy in Islington in 2004 — the last time he performed in London.

So far, Pink and The Ting Tings have been officially confirmed for this year’s festival, which takes place from 2 to 4 July.

Gillian Chung encounters setbacks, talks to trusted friend Ah Sa

Gillian Chung (Ah Gil) has once experienced setbacks, during the interview that he accepted from TVB program "Fan and Kam", she said that when she encounters setbacks or her weakness, she would rarely express it out to others. When she was young she would find a friend to talk about it, but now she is more mature, so she doesn't really talk about her unhappy events. However, sometimes she would go talk to Ah Sa or Joey Yung because the two are her long trusted friends.

Mentioning good friends, Ah Gil shared one of the most gratifying event that happened in the past, she smiled: "One year it was my birthday, I just finished work in Guang Zhou and was going back to HK. At the gate, I had to use the restroom, but when I came out I saw Ah Sa coming towards me with a birthday cake that she personally made! I have so many good friends loving me, even if work is difficult, I will have infinite power to withstand it!" Earlier, Ah Gil, Ah Sa and other EEG artists like Leo Ku and Joey were taking Christmas photos together.
