NBC Officely cancel Heroes, Mercy, Trauma

It seemed inevitable but the news is nonetheless shocking: NBC’s drama Heroes won’t be back for a fifth season. The beleaguered drama only averaged 6.5 million viewers this year. It last aired on Feb. 8, when it only brought in a mere 4.4 million.

The show never managed to recapture those stellar ratings from its critically-beloved first season, when it averaged a whopping 14.5 million. There has been talk that NBC may air a movie that allows the producers to wrap up the story, but nothing has been set in stone. NBC will announce its fall lineup to advertisers Monday in New York.

Spencer Pratt Calls Brody Jenner a "Drunk Idiot"

Spencer Pratt isn't about to let ex-BFF Brody Jenner get the last word.

After Jenner quipped on Wednesday that his old friend has "lost it," Pratt came roaring back Thursday with an exclusive retort to UsMagazine.com.

"I saw that tattoo that he got," Pratt says of Jenner's new "F**K" tattoo. "He should add -ing idiot to it!"

During an appearance on Kidd Kraddick in the Morning, Jenner, 26, said that his old best friend "wants attention."

Pratt's response? "You've only dated famous girls for the past 6 years and I'm the attention whore? [Kristin] Cavallari to LC [Lauren Conrad] to Lindsay Lohan to Avril Lavigne?"

Pratt had particularly harsh words for Lavigne, Jenner's current love. "Avril? She was famous in what, the 90s? We were in 7th grade when her song came out, I think, you foolio."

The husband to Heidi Pratt also criticizes Jenner's high-profile partying.

"Honestly, Brody, I'm worried about you. I don't even drink and go to clubs and you're worried about me?"

Apple iPhone HD Prototype’s Sealed Affidavit Now Available Now Available to the Public

Possibly the largest story to break this year, or many years before this in fact, has snowballed into what many would consider a ridiculous scenario that’s unnecessary, for both sides of the fight. While many of the details regarding the iPhone HD prototype’s existence outside a particular site’s hands have been hidden by red tape, most of that has now been cleared up, thanks to a push from other sites like Wired and CNET. Through their pressure, judge Clifford Cretan has issued a ruling Friday that made the affidavit and search warrant of Gizmodo Editor Jason Chen’s home available to the public. Below, you’ll find some of the details of what those documents revealed.

There was some speculation floating around about who, or how many people for that matter, at Apple had decided to report the missing device to the San Mateo police department. According to the documents, it was Apple as a company, and not one particular person who went through the process. The document also clarifies how Apple went about requesting the iPhone HD prototype back, and what Gizmodo’s response was: Steve Jobs personally contacted the site’s Editorial Director, Brian Lam, to have the device returned. Lam agreed to return it, but only if Apple would manifest a document saying (and proving) that the iPhone HD prototype was indeed Apple’s.

The New Browser Wars: Will Ubuntu drop Firefox for Google Chrome?

Potentially big news in the world of open source software, friends. Apparently Ubuntu, the most popular Linux distribution, is considering dropping Firefox for Chrome. Well, maybe for Chrome, or maybe for Chromium, the open source project that Chrome is based upon. Therein lies the rub, I do believe.

What’s going on is that Ubergizmo, a fine site, hears that Canonical (the company behind Ubuntu) is considering adding Chrome (or Chromium—more on that in a second) to Ubuntu Linux Netbook Remix, the next big release of which is due this autumn. What a terribly constructed sentence. Exactly why they’d replace Firefox with Chrome or Chromium isn’t known, but presumably they feel that the new browser on the block performs better on the average netbook than Firefox. No one would be inaccurate in calling Firefox a bit of a memory hog at times. I wouldn’t touch a netbook with a 10-foot pole—netbooks may also be dying, so this may all be moot sooner rather than later—so I have no idea if that’s true or not, that Chrome or Chromium out-performs Firefox on netbooks. I have no horse in that race, as it were.

Yet there’s confusion as to whether Ubuntu would use Chrome or Chromium. You normally want your free and open-source (FOSS) operating systems to come with FOSS software, something that Chrome is not.

Wonder Girls’ 2 Different Tears album unleashed on iTunes!

People have been waiting for over a year now, and it’s finally here… the Wonder Girls are finally back with their single album 2 Different Tears! After hearing Nobody so many times since 2008, it’s definitely surreal to see this pop group coming out with new music again, and I’m sure that the girls are feeling a lot of pressure, but after giving 2 Different Tears, you won’t be able to deny its catchiness!

As promised earlier, 2 Different Tears has been released in Korean, English and Chinese. We’ve seen the Girls with decade-specific concepts in the past, and it looks like they’re staying true to that pattern with 2 Different Tears. The single album was just released officially on iTunes, so check out the tracks here!

Speculation over JJ’s GMA nomination

The GMA’s (Golden Melody Awards) nomination list just came out and JJ Lin’s nomination for best male performer (for the album, “100 days”) is already in question. Lin Qiu-Li, the big boss of JJ’s record company, happens to be one of the judges for the GMA this year. Many speculate that Lin Qiu-Li may have influenced JJ’s nomination.

In regards to this, Lin responded, “I cannot accept this at all. I can only say that if I really did ‘influence’ the nominations, then more nominations would have been given to my singers and not just one.” He then emphasized, “I rarely have any contact with people in the industry. Furthermore, I’m the boss of a record company, so how would I convince other competitors to agree with me? How would I be able to make my singers be nominated? It’s impossible.”

Nonetheless, JJ cherishes his nomination this time very much, “Thank you to the judges for believing my talent before, which gave me the courage to continue. And thank you to the judges for recognizing my efforts this time round. I will continue to push forward and not give up!”

Cristiano Ronaldo Looks to Pal Up With Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton was just in Madrid for business (before heading on to the glitz and glamour of Cannes) but Cristiano Ronaldo wanted her to make time for pleasure, too.

The soccer stud, who's been romantically linked to Kim Kardashian and Paris herself, allegedly tried to meet up with the heiress while she was in Spain this week.

"He texted her when he found out she was there, but she only had a few hours because she was in back-to-back meetings," an insider tells me. "So they didn't end up meeting up."

But sources say they plan to hang out soon in a very exotic locale...

The two will probably get together next month in South Africa, where they'll both be attending the World Cup.

Google Snooped On You For Three Years, But Is "Profoundly Sorry"

For years, Google Street View cars roamed our neighborhoods, quietly mapping streets, collecting our Wi-Fi network information, and gathering sample payload data. But don't worry, they "never used that data in any Google products" and are sorry about collecting it.

After an audit of the Wi-Fi network data gathered by Google Street View cars, it was discovered that they picked up a little bit more than they were intended to:

Samsung’s Galaxy S all but confirmed for life with T-Mobile

Samsung and T-Mobile might as well just let the cat out of the bag and announce they’re banding together for the launch of the Galaxy S. While watching it get fondled by Howard Choi on YouTube, we couldn’t help but note two things: 1) It’s model number was listed as the SGH-T959 (a dead giveaway), and 2) the appearance of several T-Mobile-related service icons. As we mentioned before, T-Mobile has yet to publicly say anything about the Galaxy S, so we’ll just have to sit tight in the event that until it does. If T-Mo had any brains whatsoever, they’d get this thing to market ASAP so it can do battle with the BlackBerry 9800, DROID Incredible, EVO 4G, and next-gen iPhone. Check out the video after… you know where.

No wonder she's the world's top earning model... Gisele Bundchen shows why she's number one on Forbes' list for the FOURTH year running

Even when she was pregnant Gisele Bundchen managed to maintain her supreme figure, albeit with the addition of a rather large bump.

So to see her back to the day job looking slender and on fine form is hardly a shock to any keen observer.

The Brazilian model, 29, posed for a series of underwear shots in an advertising campaign for lingerie firm Hope - just five months after the birth of her son, Benjamin.

And her immaculate frame appeared to have snapped right back into shape, with both her front and rear looking great.

Bouncy Brooklyn Decker shows off her acrobatic skills on the beach as she films Just Go With It

Being married to an athlete appears to have taught Sports Illustrated a thing or two about staying fit and active.

Brooklyn Decker showed off her gymnastic skills as she performed a none too shabby cartwheel during the filming of Just Go With It.

Amazingly her tight-fitting yellow bikini defied the forces of gravity and didn't give under the strain.

Brooklyn, a successful model and wife of tennis champion Andy Roddick, played in the Hawaiian sun wearing a yellow bikini that looked good from every angle.

She stars as comic actor Adam Sandler's girlfriend in the new comedy alongside Hollywood veterans Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Aniston.

Lady Gaga dress up like Nanny McPhee for Sting's Rainforest Fund charity benefit

Lady Gaga leaves no stone unturned in her search for style inspiration.

And last night the eccentric star apparently found it in the form of Emma Thomson's famous children's character, Nanny McPhee.

The Paparazzi singer arrived at Carnegie Hall in New York for a charity benefit in a dramatic black gown that mirrored magical time-travelling nanny's trademark cloak.

Her hair, which appeared to be a shade of grey, was pulled back into a matronly bun too.

Adobe co-founder: 'We never abandoned Apple'

A couple of weeks ago, Apple CEO Steve Jobs published "Thoughts on Flash," a 1,671-word execration of Adobe Systems' Flash platform.

On Thursday, Adobe co-founders and co-chairmen Chuck Geschke and John Warnock followed suit with some thoughts of their own. Their eight-paragraph essay, "Our Thoughts On Open Markets," mentions Apple only once. But when it does, it is to lambaste the company for its position on Flash, a position the two claim "could undermine this next chapter of the Web--the chapter in which mobile devices outnumber computers, any individual can be a publisher, and content is accessed anywhere and at any time."

I spoke to Geschke on Thursday afternoon about the pair's letter, Adobe's new "We heart Apple" ad campaign, and Apple's stance on his company's software. Below, a transcript of our conversation.

Microsoft: IE6 is past its expiration date

In an Australian marketing campaign, Microsoft is urging those using Internet Explorer 6 to upgrade already.

"You wouldn't drink nine-year-old milk, so why use a nine-year-old browser?" asks the Web site urging IE6 users to upgrade to something closer to the front of the fridge.

The shelf life of software and dairy products is not often considered to be in the same range, but leaving that aside, Microsoft does offer a good reason to upgrade: better security.

"When Internet Explorer 6 was launched in 2001, it offered cutting-edge security--for the time. Since then, the Internet has evolved, and the security features of Internet Explorer 6 have become outdated," the site said, showing scary statistics about online fraud and enumerating various advantages in Microsoft's preferred alternative, IE8.

More Images Of What Chrome OS Will Probably Look Like

Chrome OS — Google’s lightning quick operating system that’s based entirely on the Chrome browser — is due out the second half of this year (check out our report earlier this evening on its progress). We’ve seen some demos of it in action, and even tried out an early version ourselves, but there are still plenty of question marks as far as how people will actually use this thing. After all, while the browser will be able to accomplish most tasks, users are going to want some degree of multitasking, and there’s also the question of how users will be navigating Chrome OS’s basic file structure.

Luckily, Chromium — the open source project behind Chrome and Chrome OS — has been posting some conceptual screenshots of what the OS may look like. The Chromium site is full of reminders that the UI is under development and that “designs are subject to change”, but I suspect that we’ll see many of these ideas incorporated into the final builds of Chrome OS.

Wonder Girls reveal 2 Different Tears MV teaser

With practically just 1 – 2 days away from the official launch of the Wonder Girls new track, 2 Different Tears this weekend, depending on where you are, JYP Entertainment has finally unleashed on us the MV teaser.

Having been teased by their solo concept photos this past week, this is the final step towards the launch of a new track since the Nobody phenomenom in 2008. And it’s back to the retro 80s with cameos by Sunmi (?), Bobby Lee and JYP!

21st Golden Melody Awards nominations list released, A-Mei takes crown with 10 nominations

The Government Information Office announced the nomination list for the 21st Golden Melody Awards this afternoon. In particular, heavenly queen A-Mei Chang received 10 nominations for her album "A-mit", battling for the title of Best Mandarin Female Singer with Tanya Chua and Karen Mok among others. The nominations for Best Mandarin Male Singer include David Tao, Eason Chan and Jam Hsiao. Furthermore, this time the "Lifetime Contribution Award" has been given to "Taiwan's King of Song" Ang It-Hong who passed away due to illness recently.

The 21st Golden Melody awards categories this time include 125 labels, 359 albums, 10464 works. After an initial round of judging by 71 judges, a total of 124 works were nominated, including A-mei's album "A-mit" which received 10 nominations, the most outstanding results.

As to the "Best Mandarin Female Singer" category which so much attention is paid to, nominees include Tanya Chua, Karen Mok, A-Mei, Deserts Chang, Tiger Huang and Cheer Chen. The "Best Mandarin Male Singer Award" will be pursued by JJ Lin, David Tao, Eason Chan, Khalil Fong and Jam Hsiao.

Furthermore, this time for the "Lifetime Contribution Award", all the judges agreed that it should be given to deceased "Taiwan's King of Song" Mr Ang It-Hong. The judges believe that in his lifetime, Ang It-Hong's devotion and achievements in Taiwanese folksongs, performing and albums was extraordinary, the developmentof Taiwanese folksongs especially, shows that he deserves this special award.

Google Phone Store Won’t be Selling Phones Anymore

Although Google launched the Nexus One with grand plans to radically change the way consumers purchased phones and service, it looks like the experiment has fizzled to an end -- the company just announced that will eventually stop selling handsets online and instead promote "a variety of Android phones available globally." Google says customers simply want a hands-on experience before buying a phone, but we'd say the lack of subsidies from any carrier except T-Mobile probably played a part here -- and of course, both Verizon and Sprint essentially refused the N1 in favor of bespoke versions in the Incredible and EVO 4G. We'd say that Android as a whole will remain unaffected, since the Nexus One was never a huge seller, but it's still rare that a company simply gives up a business model like this. The Google Phone is dead, long live the Google Phone.

RadioShack announces EVO 4G pre-orders

RadioShack has over the last year or so turned itself into one of the biggest resellers of mobile phones from a variety of carriers around. Many folks in areas that have 4G coverage from Sprint have been anxiously waiting for the EVO 4G to land. The device is the first 4G smartphone offered on the Sprint network.

RadioShack has now announced that it will start taking pre-orders on the EVO 4G on May 14, which is today for those of you not keeping up. The handset will land in RadioShack stores on June 4. To pre-order the device users have to go into a store and buy a special $50 gift card.

That gift card is used towards the purchase price of the handset. When the card is purchased, the user also sets up a time to pick up the phone and get it activated for use. RadioShack has specially trained experts on the EVO 4G in its stores to teach buyers how to use the device.

Christina Aguilera: I'm Not Lady Gaga!

Christina Aguilera isn't just back on the music scene.

The singer, whose new album drops on June 8, is back to being her sexy, provocative self.

Her new music video is hot; her cover shot for GQ is naked... and the haters are coming out in full force.

As she struts her seductive, eccentric stuff again, critics are comparing Christina to the artist that, in some ways, has taken over her spot in the industry: Lady Gaga. What does Aguilera think of this comparison?

“I’m in it for the long haul, and a decade later in my career, I have nothing to prove," Christina says in the latest issue of Billboard. "To anyone who wants to be negative, it’s like, ‘I’m obviously relevant enough to you for you to care and to talk and to evoke negative feelings inside of you.’ At this point in my career, I’m over any and all weird comparisons or negativity.”

Also in the article, Christina says that making hit singles is not what inspires her:

“There was actually a song that the label really wanted me to record, and I just said ‘no,’ because it didn’t fit on the album – it wasn’t creatively inspiring to me... when it jeopardizes my integrity too much I can’t do it."

But when it comes to taking her clothes off, Xtina can get down with that! Thank goodness.

Mike He & Charlene Choi's new drama 'Calling For Love' premieres this Sunday; lots of kiss scenes

During filming of CTS drama ‘Calling For Love’, female lead Charlene Choi (Ah Sa)’s married status had not yet been exposed but she had many kiss scenes in the drama with male lead Mike He. Ah Sa admitted that Mike’s kissing skills successfully electrified her, and she revealed that she “very quickly entered into the world of love.”

‘Calling For Love’ will broadcast this Sunday but it seems that Ah Sa wants to avoid the media. She used work as an excuse, and was unwilling to come to Taiwan to promote her new drama, leaving producer Angie Chai to hold the fort. Ah Sa’s character in the drama is very innocent, therefore she does not have many passionate scenes. Her dress style is also very conservative; if she isn’t wearing her taxi uniform, then her clothes will be buttoned very high. At the time, she did not have many requests, the only one being having her own personal make-up artist, and she was not opposed to filming intimate scenes.

Dell CEO: Streak coming next month to Telefonica O2, 'later this summer' to AT&T

You know who can't stop talking about (or showing off) the Dell Streak / Mini 5? Company CEO Michael Dell, that's who. The man once again returned with his Android-powered 5-inch display of choice, showing it off on stage at the Citrix Synergy conference this morning. Sure, we've seen the handset ad nauseum at this point -- we're even a proud owner of one prototype -- but here's the quote that piqued our interest: "this [phone] will be available starting next month, first with our partner 02 Telefonica [sic] in Europe, then later this summer with our pretty good partner here in the United States, AT&T." He couldn't be much more direct, and we couldn't get it from a more knowing source. Excited for the near future yet?

Nintendo DS Will Be Best-Selling Game Console Ever Later This Year

Very soon, that little flip-screened gaming console hidden in your draw or under your bed is going to break all kinds of crazy records. Currently, the PlayStation 2 is king of the best-selling console hill, but come October...

According to NPD analysts who've been tracking gaming sales, "The NDS is approaching the PS2 as the best-selling hardware system of all time...and by October or November of this year, it should meet or exceed the install base of the PS2."

With PSP sales sliding and Nintendo DS sales tallying up to 129 million units so far, Sony had better pull its finger from its triangle button and start producing a proper successor to the PSP.

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds on The Rocks?

Scarlett Johansson’s marriage to her hunky hubby Ryan Reynolds is on the rocks — according to In Touch Weekly magazine.

The tabloid says the couple — who wed in secret back in 2008 — rarely see each other, which is putting a strain on their relationship.

Another issue is the amount of time Ryan has been spending with his Green Lantern costar Blake Lively, according to In Touch.

Reynolds recently called the Gossip Girl star “flawless” and “perfect” — which, sources say, infuriated Johansson.

“Nothing is going to change unless Scarlett and Ryan can learn to compromise — and they won’t,” an insider said.

“Scarlett won’t cancel anything she has coming up or wants to go to, and neither will Ryan.”

Seven-Year-Old Single Ladies Cause An Uproar

There’s an uproar stirring over a group of 7-year-olds who danced provocatively to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” at the World of Dance competition last month. The video — which is now burning up the web — shows a troupe of young girls in midriff-baring tops, short skirts, and black stockings gyrating to the Grammy-winning tune at the competition in Pomona, California on April 10.

James Cameron Urges Industry To Shoot In 3D

James Cameron is fast replacing Michael Bay as the industry preacher-man. Instead of praising the Blu-ray format though, he's taking to his soapbox weekly to mouth off about 3DTV. This time, about how content-makers need to shoot in 3D.

Yesterday he told television producers in Seoul that shooting in 2D and upscaling to 3D later just isn't good enough: "There's not going to be the time or the money to convert that. It's going to have to be shot live. We're going to learn how to do live shooting. The cost will come down on live 3D production."

According to Cameron "tens of thousands of people all over the world are shooting in 3D every day," and "we're going to need thousands of hours of sports, comedy and music and all kinds of entertainment."

Google “Meet Android” campaign is Feeling Lucky about Vodafone Nexus One

When you’re possibly the most successful search engine in the world and you want to remind people about your smartphone OS, it’s all too easy to send a rampaging Android through peoples’ browsers. Type “meet android” into Google UK and hit “I’m Feeling Lucky”, and you’ll see an animated advert for the Google Nexus One freshly launched on Vodafone UK.

The phone itself is priced from free on new, monthly agreements of £35 ($51) or more, and marks the first occasion that the Nexus One has been officially available in the UK without buyers needing to import it from the US. It goes up against the HTC Desire, similar in specifications and price.

Wi-Fi Sync app rejected by Apple, headed to Cydia for $9.99

Can't say we're surprised to hear that Apple rejected Greg Hughes' Wi-Fi Sync app. You know, the app that allows you to wirelessly sync your iPhone / iPod touch with iTunes without having to USB tether to your computer. Messing with Apple's synchronization technology is a pretty big no-no as demonstrated by Palm's webOS bluff. Here's the rejection as explained by Greg from an unnamed Apple rep over the phone:

"While he agreed that the app doesn't technically break the rules, he said that it does encroach upon the boundaries of what they can and cannot allow on their store. He also cited security concerns."

Lack of new launches means games sales fall sharply

Video game sales plummeted by more than a quarter in April, one of the industry's worst declines ever.

US sales were worth $766 million, down from a round billion in April last year, says NPD Group.

Console sales were hardest hit, falling by 37 percent, mainly because of a steep drop in DS sales. The company sold just 440,800 units, compare with over a million last April. The reluctance to buy may be to do with the fact that the company's promising a 3D version soon.

Wii sales also fell - although the console relaimed the top seller - but those for the Sony playStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 rose.
