HTC HD7 costs €599 unlocked at Amazon.de, 7 Trophy priced at £430 in UK

Looks like Amazon isn't sleeping on this whole Windows Phone 7 launch shebang. The online retailer has unveiled its pricing for a pair of HTC handsets so far, with the 4.3-inch HTC HD7 costing €599 ($835) in Germany and the 3.8-inch 7 Trophy setting UK buyers back £430 ($685). The Trophy in particular is coming in at slightly below the typical Android handset pricing, whereas the HD7 seems to carry a reasonable premium for its jumbo dimensions and flagship billing. Alas, neither the UK nor the DE portal will let you purchase or pre-order a handset just yet, but considering that the Trophy is expected on November 8, maybe that's not such a big deal. Europe-wide availability for Windows Phone 7 handsets is coming on October 21, so the best strategy might well be to use these numbers as price guides and wait till the store doors open next Thursday.

HTC loves Android and Windows Phone 7 equally

HTC's relationship with Microsoft is the stuff of daytime television. It was HTC's commitment to building high quality QWERTY handsets for Windows Mobile that first gave the young Taiwanese company the spotlight. HTC then shifted its allegiance to Android just as the green monster was on the rise (and WinMo in decline). So where are we today? Well, of the ten Windows Phone 7 handsets announced yesterday, half were from HTC. If that doesn't signal HTC's commitment to Redmond then maybe a quote will. Speaking at a press conference in Taipei yesterday, HTC CEO Peter Chou said, "Right now we have Windows Phone 7 and Android, and focus the same on each, but let the market decide." Peter then promised more WP7 handsets in 2011 without getting into specifics. So let's check in next year and see how things go, shall we?

Real Ting jealous of Raymond Lam and Miriam Yeung's intimate scenes in "Perfect Wedding"

The night before, Miriam Yeung held the 4th night of her concert. Besides having her husband Real Ting appear, there was also Gigi Leung and Taiwan singer Chen Qiao En and Lin Xi to support her. Miriam invited Raymond Lam to be her guest of the night, the two did not forget to promote for their new film Perfect Wedding going on the big screen on October 21, 2010. In the film, the two have several intimate scenes, Miriam once joked that she doesn't want her husband to watch it, Raymond instantly teased her, sitting in the audience, Real defended his wife and said in jealousy: "It's not that I don't want to watch it, I just don't want to see you two...just feels uncomfortable!" Raymond teased him: "Or are you too busy watching Chrissie Chow only?" Real was not afraid of being mushy, he expressed his love: "Sorry, that is not my cup of tea."

Back to her maternal home (record company) Capital Artists, Miriam's new album HOME was off the market in 4 days after its release. The album sales already surpassed Gold Disc. To award Miriam, her company especially gave her champagne worth more than HK$10,000 to celebrate, but only allowed her to blow the trumpet because she still needs to put in the effort to complete the last night of her concert.

Cheer up Kristen you're dating Robert Pattinson! Stewart is usual scowling self on night out

Really, what has she got to be so sullen about?

Kristen Stewart is dating one of the hottest guys in Hollywood, has a stellar career and millions of dollars in the bank.

Yet she still seems unable to raise a smile.

The 20-year-old actress had her usual scowl on her face - and ever-present cigarette in hand - as she went for a date with Robert Pattinson last night in Beverly Hills.

Stewart obviously feels comfortable around Pattinson as she didn't bother dressing up at all, wearing a grey hoodie, no make-up and her scraggly unwashed hair hung limply around her face.

Kim Kardashian Naked W Magazine Nov. 2010

Well, Kim’s naked…again.

Avert your eyes, Justin Bieber! The bodacious Kim Kardashian says she regrets getting her gear off for Playboy - but when we’re talking W Magazine, it’s a different story!

The socialite and TV reality star, 29, is stripping down and showing off her implants and infamous booty pop for the November issue of W. After having famously expressed second thoughts for appearing nude in Playboy, Kardashian has posed in the buff for the fashion mag, highlighting her curves in silver body paint on the cover of W’s annual Art Issue. To be clear, Kim isn’t seen naked — exactly. Rather than just baring all, this time Kardashian is dressed in nothing but silver body paint.

Xbox Live for Windows Phone 7: your Xbox isn't in your phone yet, but we're getting there

We just spent some serious, and we mean serious time with Xbox Live for Windows Phone 7. Just like your Xbox, this is sort of an amalgamation of "the place you go to play games" and "the place you go to ping and taunt your friends who also play games." Unfortunately, it seems there's a bit of a disconnect between phone-based scores and records and Xbox achievements -- they all add up to the same gamerscore, but you can't easily pull up your most recent Halo exploits to show off on your mobile, for instance. Luckily, that still puts Microsoft in a better position than any other mobile games platform (until Apple can get Game Center to stop sucking, at least). Being able to message and challenge friends all from the same "hub" where you keep your games is great, and being able to view your avatar and the avatars of friends (you can even play dress-up with your own) is nice gravy on top.

Of course, what really matters is the games, right? Luckily, Microsoft has a pretty strong launch lineup, with some of the regulars like EA's The Sims 3 and Need for Speed, along with some exclusives like Rocket Riot and the hotly anticipated The Harvest. The good news? Games look and play great, just like you might expect from an iPhone or Android level capacitive touchscreen platform, with The Harvest as an obvious and very important standout in complexity and polish. The bad news? Everything takes forever to load (our rough estimate is about three minutes to start playing in The Harvest), and when you don't have any multitasking, that's a really bad thing. Check out some of the Xbox Live hub and capabilities after the break, along with some games, and make up your own mind.

What's inside the first Windows Phone 7 devices?

Qualcomm's Snapdragon silicon made a sweep of all of the Windows Phone 7 smartphones announced today, rendering the hardware from various manufacturers relatively homogeneous inside.

Against a backdrop of phone announcements from companies such as Samsung, HTC, and Dell, Qualcomm CEO Paul Jacobs and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer posted a video today discussing the relationship between the two companies.

"Qualcomm and Microsoft have a long history of working together to optimize the mobile operating system for Qualcomm chips and platforms...We're excited to bring a new generation of Windows phones exclusively featuring Snapdragon mobile processors," Ballmer said.

"This really shows...what can happen when people bring together great software and great hardware," said Jacobs in the video.

But this collaboration also brings Windows PC-like hardware uniformity. Just as the PC world is dominated by the Windows operating system and Intel processors, this first crop of Windows Phone 7 smartphones feature a Microsoft OS and Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 chipset. This results in that much less of a difference among the various phones, according to Ashok Kumar, managing director and analyst at Rodman & Renshaw.

Ah Sa Refuses to Kiss, William Still in 'Probation Period'

Charlene Choi (Ah Sa) and William Chan publicly admitted their relationship yesterday. The couple were working in Zhengzhou and yesterday returned Hong Kong. Their return is anticipating and attracted more than 50 reporters to come. Wearing sunglasses, Ah Sa appeared with sweet smiles all over her face. Originally refused to be interviewed, they finally agreed to stand still for photographs. William put his arm on Ah Sa's shoulder and some people demand them to hold hands and kiss. Ah Sa backed away immediately and shout: "What?!"

They two answered questions from reporters while walking away. As for for ex-husband Ronald Cheng admits dating someone new, Ah Sa said: "If it's true, I give my blessing to them! (See William as your marriage partner?) You even have to pass a probation period for your job. (Working as a couple?) What? It's better not, it's kinda scary. It's more important to relax and be happy." William expressed there's no need to remove his "love tattoo" with Angelababy. Asked whether he worries she would face more pressure by opening up his relationship with Ah Sa? He said: "I think I'm strong enough to handle pressure. We received many people's blessings these two days. We have to thank many artiste friends. Give your blessing to us, everyone!" Then the couple got on the car and left the airport. Ah Sa first went to the recording studio, then went to the office of EEG. Asked whether Ronald knows about her new love, she said: "Isn't it on the newspaper?" Then she went back home to relax.

Courteney Cox and David Arquette Separate

After 11 years of marriage, Courteney Cox and David Arquette acknowledge they've hit more than a few rough patches.

Now the Hollywood pair, who are parents to 6-year-old daughter Coco, have "agreed to a trial separation that dates back for some time," they say in a statement.

"The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage," they say. "We remain best friends and responsible parents to our daughter and we still love each other deeply. As we go though this process we are determined to use kindness and understanding to get through this together."

They add: "We are comfortable with the boundaries that we have established for each other during this separation and we hope that our friends, family, fans and the media also show us respect, dignity, understanding and love at this time as well."

Cox, 46, and Arquette, 39, met in 1996 while filming Scream and were married three years later in San Francisco. Their daughter was born in 2004.

Just last summer In Style magazine reported that Cox showed up for an interview without her wedding ring and candidly said, "We've done couples therapy in the past."

"We're not lazy about our marriage," Cox said in the August issue. "We have the same arguments we've had for years."

Microsoft: No Windows Phone 7 for tablets on horizon

Microsoft does not have immediate plans to port the Windows Phone 7 mobile OS to tablets, a company official said on Monday.

Windows Phone 7 is designed for small-screen devices such as smartphones and is not designed to work with larger screen devices, said Greg Sullivan, senior product manager at Microsoft, at the Windows Phone 7 launch event in New York.

The company will instead continue to adapt its PC operating system, Windows 7, to tablets as it offers a rich application experience and touch-based capabilities, Sullivan said. Tablets require a more PC-like experience, and it makes sense to design a low-power version of Windows 7 to work on tablets, he said.

The strategy puts Microsoft at odds with some of its biggest competitors in the mobile phone market, which are already making inroads in the new tablet segment. Apple's iPad carries the same iOS architecture core that powers the iPhone.

Microsoft does not have immediate plans to port the Windows Phone 7 mobile OS to tablets, a company official said on Monday.

Chow Yun-fat, Donnie Yen, Aaron Kwok in New 3D Film

Filmko's new 3D film <大鬧天宮> finally started filming in Beijing recently. The cast for this film is always keep as top secret and had only revealed Donnie Yen is playing Monkey King. Now as the film started filming, more actors are confirmed to make an appearance, including A-list star Chow Yun Fat.

Everyone knows it's hard to ask Chow to star in a film. It's known Filmko spent 9 months to negotiate. Fortunately, Chow looks highly on 3D films, plus he wants to collaborate with Donnie, he finally decided to act. He will play the Jade Emperor in the film.

Heavenly king Aaron Kwok to play Buffalo Demon King, who starts a war with heaven in order to bring his beloved wife Princess Iron Fan (play by Taiwanese idol drama queen Joe Chen Qiao En) and child Red Boy to heaven. Taiwanese idol Peter Ho will play Erlang Shen.

Anderson Cooper's "Gay" Dilemma With Vince Vaughn: Not Over Yet

Oops.

Sounds like Anderson Cooper may still have a dilemma with Vince Vaughn.

Although Universal Studios announced on Friday it would replace a trailer for the funnyman's new comedy, The Dilemma, because of complaints about its negative use of the word gay…

It's still running in theaters, according to media watchdog group GLAAD. (In fact, one of our very own E! Online staffers saw it over the weekend in Los Angeles before a screening of The Social Network.)

GLAAD has now issued a call to action for its members and supporters to contact the studio to urge them to replace the trailer and remove the gay joke from the movie.

It's Official: NBC axes 'Outlaw'

NBC has officially pulled the plug on Jimmy Smits’ struggling rookie procedural Outlaw. The Friday-night legal drama, which was already on a production hiatus, will be replaced by a second hour of Dateline. The final four episodes will air Saturdays at 8 pm beginning this week. Any questions?

Google Testing Chrome OS Release Candidates. Official Release 1 Month Away?

It was last July that Google dropped a nuclear bomb in announcing Chrome OS, their operating system based around their Chrome web browser. The world was different back then — namely, Google’s Android mobile operating system wasn’t nearly as powerful as it is now. But its rise has led some to wonder why exactly Google is pushing ahead with Chrome OS — or if they might abandon it? (Remember, they did lose their key Chrome OS engineer to Facebook.) Well, they’re not. All indications are that it is coming very soon now. In fact, it may even launch a month from today.

At their official unveiling event 11 months ago, Google promised that Chrome OS would be ready to by the end of this year — before the holiday season. It looks like they will be able to keep that promise, as bug comments on their Google Code site for the project indicate that the OS has already hit “RC” status — also known as “Release Candidate”. As far as I can tell, it achieved this milestone in the past few days or so, and the most recent build would seem to be 0.9.78.1 (or RC 78.1). When that number evens out to “1″, we can probably expect Chrome OS to be ready to go.

France's SFR jumps gun, announces Palm Pre 2: 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM, webOS 2.0

It's unclear if the tiny, little shot posted on French carrier SFR's Club SFR pour Palm blog is in fact the rumored upcoming Pre 2 or just an old Pre shot, but let's put it this way: considering that we can't readily tell the difference, it better be an old one. At any rate, the sparse details in the blog post line up with everything we're expecting so far, namely that the new model will use a 1GHz processor -- presumably a TI OMAP3630 -- and will sport a full half gig of RAM on board. Between those two spec bumps, we'd fully expect the refreshed webOS 2.0 to scream... but we won't really know for sure until Palm gives us something to work with. In the meantime, SFR, thanks for the teaser.

Check out another shot from SFR's site after the break -- it looks like they don't have any intention to pull the news down, otherwise we have to believe they would've done so by now.

Dave Annable and Odette Yustman Wed

Brothers & Sisters star Dave Annable and actress Odette Yustman are now man & wife.

The two were married Sunday in Ojai, just north of L.A., in an outdoor ceremony, PEOPLE confirms.

Yustman wore 10 carats of diamond earrings and 30-carat diamond and platinum barrettes from Neil Lane.

Making the decision to propose to Yustman earlier this year in Santa Barbara was easy for Annable. "I knew," he told PEOPLE at the time. "And when you know, you know."

The couple, who dated for a year-and-a-half before their engagement, are looking forward to becoming parents – sooner rather than later.

"I want a little hockey team," Annable says. "I'm a little bit older than she is ... I'm going grey, I wear cardigans now. It's time, you know, I have the itch."

No Matt Damon in 'Bourne Legacy': Report

Tony Gilroy told Hollywood Elsewhere that he’ll write and direct a fourth Jason Bourne film, but that Bourne himself — i.e., Matt Damon — would not be featured in the upcoming Bourne Legacy. “The easiest way to think of it is an expansion or a reveal,” Gilroy says. “Jason Bourne will not be in this film, but he’s very much alive. What happened in the first three films is the trigger for what happens. I’m building a legend and an environment and a wider conspiracy…the world we’re making enhances and advances and invites Jason Bourne’s return [down the road].”

Apple Will Take A Pass On 4G Networks For The iPhone In 2011— Sorry Verizon and AT&T

Back in August I broke the news that Apple was lining up a component purchase of several million chipsets from Qualcomm for a CDMA-powered Verizon iPhone due in January. Last week, over two months later, the Wall Street Journal confirmed this story.

Now that folks are finally celebrating the iPhone’s imminent arrival to Verizon, speculation has shifted to whether the January model will take advantage of Verizon’s “4G” network. 4G (not to be confused with iPhone 4) refers to the fourth generation of cellular standards, and both Verizon and AT&T have publicly released launch plans for 4G networks based on LTE in 2011.

This impending shift from 3G to 4G presents a major inflection point in the reign of the iPhone franchise. Does Apple move to 4G right away, or do they wait for the network to mature? Recall that Apple waited to support 3G for one entire cycle, opting to release the original iPhone on AT&T’s mature 2.5G EDGE network, despite wide availability of 3G by early 2007.

That situation mirrors what is happening now with LTE in 2011, and as these questions become front and center, I have some very interesting news to share about Apple’s plans.

Actress Minka Kelly: I'm "Cool" With My Flaws

Minka Kelly may look like a nice girl, but back her into a corner and she'll show you who's boss.

In fact, the 30-year-old Friday Night Lights star admits she once picked a fight with a girl in high school.

"I'm a very nice girl, but nobody pushes me around," Kelly, named Esquire's Sexiest Woman Alive, tells the magazine.

In her school days, Kelly hung around with a girl who came from a family of kickboxers, and learned a few moves from her pal. When a fellow student pushed Kelly over the edge, Kelly ended up sparring with her in the school yard, Esquire reports.

Mess with her friends and "that's when you'll see a whole other side of me," Kelly says. "That's when you'll see the side that grew up in Albuquerque."

New Windows Phone 7 Phones hands-on: HTC 7 Mozart, LG Optimus 7, HTC 7 Trophy, Samsung Omnia 7, HTC 7 Pro, and Dell Venue Pro

HTC 7 Mozart first hands-on

The first word that came to our mind when handling the HTC 7 Mozart was "classy." The aluminum unibody construction conveys a rare sense of rigidity and durability to this phone, while its overall curvature, 3.7-inch LCD screen, and ergonomics invoke memories of the company's Desire and Nexus One Android products. Which is no bad thing, particularly if you thought the Desire was a fine phone that could do with a more upmarket enclosure. We feel like this melting of the Legend's aluminum shell and the Desire's proportions is a match made in heaven, and Windows Phone 7's responsive ways have done little to dissuade us. The whole 7 Mozart package feels like a perfectly pitched (we had to!) ploy for the mainstream market, with its good looks, slick profile, and sharp-looking OS. The somewhat generic hardware on offer is a spectral presence hanging over all of HTC's phones at this launch, but we're too in love with the 7 Mozart's build quality to care right now. Enjoy the pictures below, video coming soon!

2PM releases “I’ll Be Back” MV!

Did the concept photos and two teasers have you on the edge of your seats? They sure did for us, and damn, was it worth the wait!

2PM is officially back with their MV for “I’ll Be Back,” and they are looking hotter than ever! From the choreography to the music, no wonder 2PM’s fans are known as Hottests – these guys are on fire!

iOS 4.1 jailbreak arrives, but do you want it?

Almost a month ago to the day, I reported that hackers had found a way to jailbreak iOS 4.1--and asked if it was worth the hassle anymore. That question generated lots of great discussion, and now is the perfect time to revisit it.

That's because an iOS 4.1 jailbreak, Limera1n, is now in the wild. Unlike the JailbreakMe hack that made jailbreaking iOS 4.0 as simple as loading a URL in your iPhone's browser, Limera1n requires a PC and a download--one that's currently available for Windows only.

To use the hack, start by connecting your iPhone (3G, 3GS, or 4), iPod Touch 4G, or iPad. (Note that I used my iPhone 3GS, so I can't promise the results will be the same with other devices.) Let iTunes do its thing, just to make sure you have a full and working backup.

Warning: proceed at your own risk!

Run the Limera1n executable, then click "make it ra1n." In a moment the program will instruct you to hold down the Home and Power buttons. Do that for a few seconds, then look for it to say "release power button." Do that, but make sure to keep holding the Home button until you see the message, "in DFU mode...wait."

The Essential Windows Phone 7 Launch Apps

The Windows Phone 7 section of the Zune Marketplace looks a bit like a barren wasteland at the moment, but there'll be worthy apps aplenty ready for next month's launch. Here are your first priority downloads.

There are still more apps to be announced before launch, and obviously the huge ramp-up will continue as the devices gain popularity. But as of right now, this is your must list. Not surprisingly—given the Xbox Live connection—it's relatively game-heavy.

HTC HD7 preview

Alright, so by now we all know that HTC's HD7 is mostly a HD2 in imperial new clothes, but let's give the new phone a chance, shall we? We've just gotten to grips with the latest member of HTC's 4.3-inch brigade and predictably enough it feels just as snappy as the rest of the Windows Phone 7 devices introduced today. Navigation is blazingly quick, interrupted only by Microsoft's excessive fascination with animated screen transitions. Clearly, designing the new WP7 OS around hard-set minimum specs has paid off for Microsoft, whose end product exhibits a great deal of polish. T-Mobile, the HD7's exclusive carrier in the US, is keen to point out that it's the largest Windows Phone 7 launch device, so if size is atop your list of priorities, this will be the phone you'll want to start your journey with. We've got some in-depth impressions of the hardware after the break and a video is coming right up as well. Enjoy!

Meet the new AT&T Windows Phone 7 family : Samsung Focus, HTC 7 Surround, and LG Quantum

Here they are. Are you impressed? From left to right we have: The Samsung Focus, HTC 7 Surround, and the LG Quantum. Indoors at least the Focus is easily winning the screen game, with the best blacks of the bunch thanks to AMOLED (and of course the requisite oversaturation), but the Surround and Quantum don't slouch on LCDs. While the Surround speaker is fun, it really seems like HTC spent some serious thickness on what might be perceived by many as a gimmick. The Quantum is barely thicker but gives you a QWERTY keyboard for the trouble. So, where do you think your $200 US dollars are going come November?

Windows Phone 7 Getting Copy & Paste in Early 2011

Through the trials and tribulations of early life for Microsoft’s upcoming mobile Operating System, Windows Phone 7, the details weren’t always painting the best picture for the future release. Point in fact, the talk about Copy & Paste, which many people make use of on their mobile phone in one way or another, was leaning towards the “not supported” aspect on upcoming devices. And, sure enough, Microsoft made it known that the devices featuring their latest and greatest mobile OS wouldn’t be able to utilize Copy & Paste. At least, not right off the bat. But today, Microsoft has made it clear that, soon, their devices would be able to take advantage of the feature.

While Microsoft is busy feeding out announcements regarding the many, many places Windows Phone 7 will show up in the near future, they took a moment to point out that Copy & Paste would indeed be showing up on Windows Phone 7 in the near future. Microsoft couldn’t give an exact date, as we’re sure they don’t even have that date quite yet, but they did say that the software update would be showing up on Windows Phone 7 devices some time in the early part of 2011.

We’re staying with the updates as they happen, so stay tuned to see what else Microsoft has up their sleeve.

Microsoft announces ten Windows Phone 7 handsets for 30 countries: October 21 in Europe and Asia, 8 November in US

It may have "Windows" in the branding, but Windows Phone 7 is not the desktop PC experience shoehorned into a cellphone. Microsoft tried that with Windows Mobile... and we all know how that turned out. Today, eight months after the Windows Phone 7 OS unveiling in Barcelona, we're finally seeing the official launch of the retail hardware: nine new WP7 handsets available October 21 in select European and Asian markets and early November in the US. The phones will find their way to over 60 cellphone operators in more than 30 countries this year. Microsoft tapped Dell, HTC, LG, and Samsung to deliver the Snapdragon-based handsets with a carrier list that includes AT&T, T-Mobile USA, Vodafone, TELUS, América Móvil, Deutsche Telekom AG, Movistar, O2, Orange, SFR, SingTel, and Telstra. And that's just for the first wave -- Microsoft has even more handsets coming in 2011 including the first for Sprint and Verizon in the US. Here's the lineup of 480 x 800 pixel (WVGA) phones announced today:

  • HTC 7 Surround -- The 3.8-inch T8788 with slideout speaker for AT&T and Telus
  • HTC HD7 -- Schubert comes of age as a 4.3-inch HD2 cousin for T-Mobile and beyond
  • HTC 7 Trophy -- the 3.8-inch Spark headed to international carriers
  • HTC 7 Mozart -- another heavily leaked int'l player with 3.7-inch display
  • Dell Venue Pro -- 4.1-inch portrait QWERTY slider for T-Mobile we broke as Lightning
  • Samsung Focus -- AT&T's 4-inch Super AMOLED slate we broke as Cetus
  • Samsung Omnia 7 -- the i8700 is a 4-inch Super AMOLED jobbie for Europe
  • LG Optimus 7/7Q -- the E900 is the official 3.8-inch global workhorse
  • LG Quantum -- AT&T's 3.5-inch landscape slider first seen as the C900
  • HTC 7 Pro -- a 3.6-inch QWERTY slider for Sprint (2011)

"Glance and Go," is the slogan Microsoft is using to differentiate itself from an already crowded smartphone market. Something we've already seen alluded to in that leaked AT&T ad. As Ballmer notes, "Microsoft and its partners are delivering a different kind of mobile phone and experience - one that makes everyday tasks faster by getting more done in fewer steps and providing timely information in a 'glance and go' format." He's referring to WP7's customizable Live Tiles, of course. Xbox Live integration is another biggie with EA Games just announcing its first Xbox Live-enabled wares coming to Windows Phone 7 in the fall including "Need for Speed Undercover," "Tetris," "Monopoly," and "The Sims 3." The other big differentiators are the slick Metro UI, integrated support for Zune media and Zune Pass subscriptions, Bing search and maps, Windows Live including the free Find My Phone service, and Microsoft Office Mobile.

Now quit stalling and jump past the break for the full list of handsets per carrier and country.
