Oksana Grigorieva: I Thought Mel Gibson Would Kill Me

You've heard the tapes. Now Oksana Grigorieva, Mel Gibson's former girlfriend, is speaking out about their relationship – and her claims that Gibson was abusive to her.

In a wide-ranging interview with PEOPLE, Grigorieva, 40, talks in detail about the argument during which she says Gibson, 54, hit her while she was holding their baby, Lucia.

"I thought he would kill me,” says Grigorieva. (Gibson, who declined to comment for this story, has disputed her account and a source close to him has said he intervened when she was shaking the baby.)

The Russian-born musician says Gibson often flew into jealous rages, talked about suicide and once brandished a gun in front of her.

She also discusses why she decided to tape Gibson's angry phone calls. "I needed to document his threats," says Grigorieva, who denies she leaked the tapes. She also refutes Gibson's claim that she used the tapes to extort him.

"I'm not angry at him," she says. "For the sake of Lucia, I really want him to be well. He has to have the courage to be responsible for what he's done."

Samsung i8700 put through 13-minute video exposé

You know how those Korean electronics makers are. One does something -- such as a Windows Phone 7 leak -- and the other has to go and try to match or better the feat. Samsung has today easily outdone LG, whose Optimus 7 only revealed some press pics, with a thorough video exposition of its i8700 WP7 handset. We're hearing references to this phone being called the Omnia 7, which makes sense, but is at present not something we've been able to verify. So what might you enjoy in this video treat? It's mostly a jog through now familiar territory, though we do get to witness the phone taking a picture -- the camera software and performance are two of the less well known aspects of WP7 handsets. There's also what looks like a custom Samsung hub, which includes weather and stock price updates, all of which is topped off with that signature WP7 responsiveness and ridiculously deep blacks that we've grown used to with recent Samsung handsets. Video after the break.

Ah Gil Replies Coldly to Edison Chen's Comeback

Once said he will retire from Hong Kong showbiz indefinitely after the controversial photo scandal, Edison Chen now officially making his comeback to the music industry on October 7, releasing his new song "Mr. Sandman" only in a sport's clothing store.

As for opinions of Edison's comeback, Gillian Chung (Ah Gill), one of the victims in the scandal, faced it with coldness. Yesterday she attended to a beauty event and stressed she doesn't want to know what Edison said in public events. "Comeback? Pretty good," she only said. She didn't give further opinions to Edison breaking his retiring announcement and said will let her company handle everything.

Asked Edison's new song is releasing soon, whether she wants to listen? "I haven't listened music for a long time. The only song I listened is Rene Liu's 'We Are Not Together,'" she said, seems to hint that she and Edison weren't a couple. But she didn't reply directly and explained she just think the song is good. "I think it's a good song. I'm not done recording my new songs, so my company hires people to write a song that has a similar rhythm for me," the singer said.

Nokia N8 online stock from October 15th; in UK stores Oct 22nd

Been waiting for the N8 but weren't sure enough about buying it to get into the pre-order queue? Well, Nokia must have found your lack of faith disturbing as it's now stiffing those who didn't pre-order its all-new handset with another couple of weeks of waiting. Those without Nokia logos tattooed on their lower backs will finally be able to purchase the N8 on October 15 -- but only via Nokia's own web store -- before a general release hits the UK and presumably most of the rest of Europe on October 22 (slightly later than the promised October 1 landing date). The distribution is indeed wide, however, with all the major UK carriers, plus Tesco Mobile and Virgin Mobile, joining the Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U in offering the phone that has "a black belt in entertainment." Yeah, Nokia, we're finding this wait really entertaining.

LG Optimus 7 E900 WP7 handset appears in press photos

We love a nice pre-release leak as much as the next tech blog, but come on, aren't you starting to feel sorry for these Windows Phone 7 guys? By the time Steve Ballmer takes the New York stage on Monday, we'll be more familiar with the stuff he'll be showing off than the big Microsoft boss himself. Today, LG's Optimus 7 handset has suffered the only indignity left, after being videoed, pictured, and handled many a time -- it's had its official press shots unleashed unto the world. It'd be hard for them to tell us anything we don't already know, but at least they're nice and neat.

Netizen detectives claim to have evidence Jiyeon was in video strip chat

Despite agency representatives rejecting rumors that T-ara’s Jiyeon was involved in strip chat activities, netizen detectives believe they have found evidence that the videos do show Jiyeon in the buff.

Netizens dug up pre-debut pictures of Jiyeon to compare her side-by-side with the girl in the video, and they believe the similarities are strong. Besides the similar facial resemblance, netizens have also found marks (it’s the black dots, not the wrinkles or shape of the fingers) around her finger and armpit that they believe are concrete evidence that the girl in the video is indeed T-ara’s Jiyeon.

Check out the comparisons below!

Hankyung fans in S'pore turn violent

Fans turned violent when they were unable to get an autograph from pop star Han-kyung who was in Singapore to promote his first solo album release last Friday, reported local paper Shin Min Daily News.

About 2,000 fans had turned up at Lot One Shopper's Mall for a meet-and-greet session at 4pm that afternoon, with many turning up at the venue as early as 10pm the night before to reserve a spot in line.

However, about 200 fans were unable to get their turn with Han as the 26-year-old singer had to leave after 50 minutes for a rehearsal.

Motorola DROID Pro detailed & Screen shots (Video hands-on)

We just had a nice long chat with a Motorola representative, and found out what's under the Droid Pro's hood -- it's a 1GHz OMAP 3620, to be precise, with an MDM6600 chipset, 512MB of memory and 2GB of onboard storage, plus 802.11n 2.4GHz WIFI, Bluetooth 2.1 and tri-band UMTS. There's a dual LED flash alongside that auto-focus camera, and a programmable key on the side that asks you what you want it to do the first time you press it. There's 3G mobile hotspot support for up to five devices, and an optional 1860mAh extended battery and case, plus a desktop charger dock like those for the Droid and Droid 2. It also just so happens that the Droid Pro has the push functionality of Blur even though it isn't weighed down by the full Blur UI, and supports SD card remote wipes, has spellcheck integrated into the OS and a "multi-headed" VPN client. Had enough yet? We've got a series of screenshots below pulled directly from the device.

Lights camera stripper! Matthew McConaughey engages in some monkey business with a bikini clad dancer

Let's hope Matthew McConaughey isn't hoping for an Oscar for his next cinematic masterpiece.

The actor was spotted on the other side of the camera yesterday, directing a video outside of a strip club.

McConaughey was joined by a cast of a bikini clad stripper and an actor dressed in a gorilla suit as he filmed scenes at the Bodyshop in West Hollywood.

McConaughey was uncharacteristically covered up for once, wearing a yellow T-shirt, cargo shorts, flip flops, baseball cap and aviator sunglasses.

The 40-year-old's T-shirt was emblazoned with the slogan 'The fame changes everything' with a Brazilian flag, perhaps a gift from McConaughey's Rio De Janeiro born designer/model girlfriend, and mother to his two children, Camila Alves.

In true Hollywood filming fashion, McConaughey's cast seemed to spend a lot of time just standing around whiling away the hours until their moment on camera.

Goo Hye Sun excited about half-naked Wu Chun for "Absolute Boyfriend"

The Taiwanese remake of "Absolute Boyfriend" has officially been confirmed! South Korean actress Goo Hye Sun of Korean idol drama "Boys over Flowers" fame will indeed be tapped to star with Taiwanese actor and boy band Fahrenheit member Wu Chun for the Taiwanese live-action manga adaptation and Japanese idol drama remake of cult favorite "Absolute Boyfriend".

At yesterday's press conference announcing news of the remake, Hye Sun confessed that when she went on the internet to learn more about her upcoming co-star, she was introduced to the Fahrenheit member's half-naked pictures exposing his muscular upper body. In fact, when pressed about possible intimate scenes with Wu Chun as he plays the cybernetic doll hunk from the original manga, Hye Sun sweetly laughed and replied, "I'm really looking forward to it". This response startled Wu Chun, whom was sitting beside her, and the actor tried to quickly defuse the situation by saying, "You don't have to answer questions about that!"

The production costs for "Absolute" are expected to be on the high-end in terms of Taiwanese dramas. Not only will the drama involve employing CGI to animate the technical aspects of the drama, but also includes the high acting fees in casting incredibly popular Wu Chun and hugely trendy actress Hye Sun. Estimates are hovering at each episode costing roughly half a million yuan.

Ah Sa suffers in silence filming her new MV outdoors

Charlene Choi has recently been busy filming in Mainland, wrapping up filming "Sword Heroes' Fate" with Nicholas Tse and beginning filming "Legend of the White Snake" with Jet Li, Eva Huang and Raymond Lam. At the same time, she is preparing to release her new Cantonese EP "Beautiful Remains" in mid-October. It can be said, she has no spare time! Ah Sa recently found the time to film the MV for her recently plugged song "Simply" (簡簡單單). Not only did she 'fry' under the sun, her soft clear skin was bitten until it was red and swollen. Being professional she had no complaints, and even burst out laughing at herself once the cameras stopped rolling.

"Simply" is a song tailor-made for Ah Sa, a relaxing and encouraging song with lyrics encouraging everyone to be satisfied with what you have; if you live everyday simply, you will live happily. Optimistic and carefree like herself, the vivid outdoor scenery are extremely fitting. With the meaning of the lyrics to encourage everyone to face life optimistically, Ah Sa especially suggested to film outdoors, hoping for music fans to feel the meaning through the natural scenery.

Suited and booted: Brad Pitt gets into character on the set of his new film Moneyball

He can go from scruffy to suave within the blink of an eye.

Hollywood heart throb Brad Pitt shows just how well he scrubs up as he stepped out on the set of his new film Moneyball in Boston, Massachusetts yesterday.

The 44-year-old actor walked to the set wearing smart black trousers with a white shirt and tie under a very smart grey rain mac.

His hair was long and clean, very similar to the hairstyle he had at the start of his career when he starred in Thelma and Louise.

Motorola Citrus first hands-on!

The Droid Pro's certainly got the spotlight at Motorola's CTIA 2010 event, and for good reason -- this Motorola Citrus is slow and crippled by comparison. It's a iffy little entry-level device with a Blur-like UI and a fairly functional Android 2.1, but a lethargic 524MHz MSM7525 processor and 3-inch touchscreen with a resolution so small you can see individual pixels without squinting. UI browsing and surfing was laggy too, though we did like the device's comfortable-to-hold size and dedicated physical Send / End keys -- not to mention the the Backflip-like trackpad on the back. Let's hope this one arrives at a price low enough to woo the mainstream, because we're honestly having a hard time calling the Citrus a smartphone.

Gillian Chung serious neck pain, temporarily stops receiving jobs

Yesterday Gillian Chung was dressed a Kloset branded tube dress to attend an event with Ken Hung, Michelle Mai and Ana R. Just returned to Hong Kong from Mainland, Gillian was the main focus at the event, attracting many onlookers taking photos of her, which caused a slight confusion. Haven't appeared in public for a while, she said: "I've been back in HK for a whole week already, been at home every day because I had some problems with the bone on my neck, went to get acupuncture. (What did the doctor say?) Said it was very serious, it hurts when I turn my head."

Gillian expressed that initially she could have received treatment in Mainland, she said: "It was hurting for a week because the filming location was very far from the doctor office, plus I was really tired, so didn't go see the doctor. (How long are you resting for?) A week of rest, it has gotten much better. I have to wear a neck brace in order to sit down, in so much pain I couldn't sleep. (Are your jobs affected?) I can't accept jobs requiring too much movement." Once expressed that she has intentions to be a fighter girl? Gillian said: "I'll be better by then."

Tom and Cameron to Appear on VS Arashi

Hollywood actors Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz will be appearing as special guests for the Fuji TV variety show VS Arashi. The show will be a two-hour special to celebrate their first anniversary of turning golden.

The two actors had been in Japan at the end of September to promote their film Knight and Day. They will be competing against Arashi members in the Rolling Coin Tower game.

Having filmed Clint Eastwood's Letters from Iwo Jima, Tom Cruise asked Ninomiya Kazunari (27) if he's acted alongside Ken Watanabe. As Tom had previously worked with Ken in the film The Last Samurai, they were both very excited to share their experiences. On the other hand, Sakurai Sho (28), who is a big fan of Cameron, was smiling nonstop throughout filming.

Jessica Alba bemoans her post-baby body but doesn't hesitate to strip off!

She's one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood, with a face and figure to die for.

But Jessica Alba is far from happy with the way she looks, claiming to be amongst the least attractive actresses in the industry.

The stunning 29-year-old told British GQ magazine that ever since she had daughter Honor Marie, her looks aren't what they used to be.

She says: 'My breasts are saggy, I've got cellulite, my hips are bigger... every actress out there is more beautiful than me.'

Emma Stone officially cast in 'Spider-Man'...as Gwen Stacy!

The worst-kept secret in Hollywood is finally a reality. Sony Pictures announced today that Emma Stone will play Peter Parker’s love interest in Spider-Man. The surprise: she’ll be playing Gwen Stacy, not Mary Jane Watson as we had heard. The film will be directed by Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) and stars Andrew Garfield — who can now be seen in The Social Network — as Peter Parker.

Sony and Stone go way back. Stone has starred in Superbad, The House Bunny, Zombieland, and the recent Easy A for the studio. To say she is one of head honcho Amy Pascal’s favorites would be an understatement. Says director Webb, “The chemistry between Andrew and Emma was stunning and made Emma the clear choice.”

Looks like Emma will be going back to her natural blonde roots for the role of Gwen.

Motorola and Verizon's crazy portrait Droid Pro unveiled & hands-on

At tonight’s CTIA event, Motorola took some time out of their busy schedule to announce the Motorola Droid Pro. While it may not look like the other Droid-based products that have launched on Verizon, from either Motorola or HTC, it’s definitely got the feature set to warrant the title. Featuring a candy-bar style, “BlackBerry-esque” look, along with a capacitive touchscreen atop the full QWERTY keyboard, the Droid Pro will stand out amongst the crowd.

The Droid Pro, just as we have heard in the past, is a global device, and will feature connectivity options for than 220 countries, and provide data coverage in more than 200. As for the other features, you will find Android 2.2 on the handset, with Motorola’s customized, proprietary Blur User Interface. You’ll also get full access to Flash Player 10.1, and have the 3G Mobile Hotspot feature that’s been prominent on previous handsets. There’s a 5MP camera on the back, with autofocus, and you also get a dual LED flash as well.

Feline fine: Miley Cyrus takes a walk on the wild side in leopard print leggings

They say a leopard never changes its spots - but for once, Miley Cyrus has been snapped wearing something other than hotpants and tiny tops.

The teen star has been cavorting round Los Angeles in increasingly skimpy outfits of late - but the teen star was prowling Los Angeles last night in skintight animal print leggings.

Miley was out with girlfriends having a meal at high-end Chinese Mr Chow's in Beverly Hills and they posed laughing for photographers afterwards.

Maybe the more modest attire and high spirits are because the 17-year-old singer and actress is now officially off the market again.

Miley's half-sister Brandi has confirmed that the Hannah Montana star is back with on-off boyfriend, Australian actor and former Neighbours star Liam Hemsworth, 20.

The pair split in August and have been seen together since - though no official statement had been made about their reignited relationship.

Windows tablets for holidays won't rival iPad

Speaking in London today, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer again mentioned that there would be Windows 7-based tablet computers in time for the holidays. However, there's a big difference between a tablet running Windows 7 and something that truly can rival Apple's iPad.

There will be a lot of Windows 7 PCs this holiday, including some in new shapes and sizes. But, Ballmer has been saying that for months now.

What makes the iPad unique isn't its shape or small size. Microsoft has had tablets for nearly a decade, including some that are pretty small and light.

And Steve Ballmer knows that, which explains why he has been careful in his comments. Addressing the topic at July's financial analyst meeting this summer, he said that Microsoft has work to do on the software front and some of that effort will take time to bear fruit.

"They'll be shipping as soon as they are ready," Ballmer said at that gathering, offering few details on the products, which he said will come from partners, not Microsoft itself. "It is job one urgency. No one is sleeping at the switch."

First still of Lynn Xiong and Van Ness Wu in Material Queen

Producer Chen Yu-Shan’s upcoming drama, “Material Queen”, was filming on location in Paris regardless of the recent bomb threats.

Early in the morning in the cool temperature of 10 degrees Celsius, Lynn Xiong wore a custom designed dress by Sex In The City stylist Patricia Field; She showed off her shoulders and long legs while walking on the Pont des Arts. Costar Van Ness Wu kept Lynn entertained by making silly poses for other tourists to snap pictures. The actress was full of smiles and laughter despite shivering under the cold weather.

The drama crew had prepared some hot packs for Lynn to put inside her dress, but she said, “I’m afraid it will make me look chubbier. It’s okay to shiver a bit, I have to look pretty even if it’s cold.”

Van Ness did not forget to update his micro blog. He wrote, “So tired! It’s already difficult to read the script in Chinese, and now there are French dialogues…so stressed. On top of the time difference, I haven’t been able to sleep for 48 hours. (I) guess I can only joke around to decrease my stress.”

Taylor Swift releases 'Speak Now' single: Like it?

Taylor Swift released the title song from her upcoming Oct. 25 album Speak Now earlier today. It promptly sped to the top of the iTunes Music Store chart, where it has remained all afternoon. There’s a good reason for that: This is one of her best tunes yet.

“Speak Now” is an expertly catchy pop composition whose twangy, up-and-down hooks might remind you of “You Belong With Me.” Like that hit, it’s a classic Swift story song. Our narrator is at a wedding that she feels compelled to interrupt because she inconveniently loves the groom. (Her very own “I’ma let you finish, but…” moment!) Swift fleshes out this sketch with sharply observed details: the bride’s “snotty little family all dressed in pastel,” a bridesmaid’s “gown shaped like a pastry,” a church organ playing “a song that sounds like a death march,” and so on. Her expressive delivery of the lyrics makes up for any shortcomings as a technical vocalist: Check out how her voice falls on the last two words of “You wish it was me, don’t you?” and rushes anxiously over “There’s a silence/There’s my last chance/I stand up with shaking hands,” both intentional choices that make the words feel more immediate.

Google responds to Oracle's Android patent lawsuit, we break it down

It's been just over a month and a half since Oracle first sued Google for infringing various Java-related patents in Android, and the big G's just filed its official response to the lawsuit after calling it "baseless." For the most part, it's a pretty standard answer to a patent complaint: Google says Android doesn't infringe any of Oracle's patents, and even if it does, those patents are invalid and / or unenforceable for a variety of reasons anyway, so, you know, shove it. That's basically all Google -- or any patent defendant -- needs to say in the answer, and if that was it, we'd just note it and move on with our lives. But we were struck by the factual background section, which reads to us like Google's geared up for war: it basically accuses Sun and Oracle of not playing fair when it comes to Java's open-source license situation and directly implies that parts of Android are based on code that might require a patent license. It's a little wonky, but let's break it down:
  • Google uses a subset of the Apache Harmony Java implementation in Android.
  • Sun open-sourced Java Standard Edition under the GPL in 2006 and 2007, but didn't include a patent or copyright license with the code. In order to get that license, developers have to demonstrate compatibility with the Java specification.
  • The only way to demonstrate compatibility with the Java specification is to use Sun's Technology Compatibility Kit, or TCK, and Sun / Oracle and Apache have been bickering about the license for the Java TCK, or JCK, for years. (That's putting it lightly, actually. It's been more like a war.)
  • The only license Sun ever offered Apache for the JCK included significant "field of use" restrictions, including a restriction on mobile phones.
  • Because of these restrictions, Apache's never taken a JCK license to test Harmony.
  • Oracle used to be on Apache's side in demanding Sun loosen up the JCK licensing restrictions, but that changed as soon as it bought Sun out.
  • Google thinks this is very bad, and that Oracle and Sun are just big bullies who don't want Java to be open, even though being open is super amazing.

That's where Google stops, right at the part where unchecked corporate greed threatens to destroy a open-source project and your heart swells with sympathy. It's a good place to stop! But the logical and unstated endpoint to this narrative isn't quite as good:

  • Because Apache doesn't have a license to test Harmony with the JCK, it doesn't have a license for Sun's Java patents and copyrights either.
  • Part of the reason Apache wants a JCK license is to assure its users they have the necessary IP rights.
  • Google knew all this and used parts of Harmony in Android anyway.

Rachel McAdams, Michael Sheen Take Romance Public

Yup, it's on!

In a just-released pic, Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen held hands during a sweet stroll in Toronto, Canada on Sunday.

It's the first time McAdams, 31, and Sheen, 41, have made their long-rumored romance public. See more pictures of the new couple.

Involved for about two months, the Canadian actress and the British Twilight Saga star were spotted making out Sept. 10 during the Toronto film festival. An insider recently told Us: "It may turn serious!"

Sheen and ex-wife Kate Beckinsdale have a daughter Lily, 11. McAdams' on-and-off romance with her The Notebook costar Ryan Gosling -- including a brief engagement -- fizzled for good in 2007.

Chelsea Handler, 50 Cent Are Dating!

No joke: Chelsea Handler and 50 Cent are dating, a source confirms to Us.

The unexpected pair were photographed looking romantic at a New Orleans bar on Sunday.

"It's been going on awhile," the source says of the comedienne and the rapper, both 35. "It's more of a hookup thing -- whenever they are in the same town."

50 Cent's rep had no comment. A rep for the Chelsea Lately host tells Us, "She saves all her comments for her own show."

In September, Handler parted ways with Animal Planet star Dave Salmoni after about two months of dating. 50 Cent (real name: Curtis Jackson) briefly dated actress Vivica Fox in 2003, and has a son, Marquise, 12, with ex-girlfriend Shaniqua Tompkins.

Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops will Feature 3D as an Option

For development studio Treyarch, the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops is a lot of things. First and foremost, though, it’s the Call of Duty after Modern Warfare 2, so they know they have a lot of work ahead of them. But Activision obviously has faith in the development house, as they’ve released popular titles in the past, like World at War. And now it looks like everyone agrees that 3D will help Black Ops stand out, so the feature has bee included as an option that users can either turn on or leave alone.

When Black Ops launches on November 9th, 2010, it will feature the 3D option right out of the box. Players will be able to experience not only the campaign, but also the specific training missions, multiplayer (every mode), and even the extra game mode, Zombies. As with any other 3D-compatible title, you’ll need the appropriate hardware to make it happen. Both Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 now fully support 3D playback for games, so you’ll just need to get your hands on a 3D TV, too. And, if you plan on playing the First Person Shooter (FPS) on your PC, then you’ll need NVIDIA’s 3D Vision to take advantage of the fun.

According to Jay Puryear of Treyarch, the 3D technology was created by an Activision Research and Develpoment team, and not by Treyarch themselves. The development studio thought 3D was a good idea, but they wanted to make sure that it was perfect before they implemented it into their title. And, as Puryear puts it, there’s just enough 3D in the game “to make it pop, but not enough to where you are trying to figure out, ‘Where am I supposed to look’?”

T-Mobile no longer accepting G2 pre-orders due to 'overwhelming demand'

Already got your pre-order in for the T-Mobile G2? Then you should count yourself lucky, as the carrier has updated its website for the phone with the short and sweet notice that "due to overwhelming demand, we're no longer accepting pre-orders for the T-Mobile G2." It does note, however, that you'll still be able to buy the phone online starting tomorrow (though there's no guarantee when it'll ship) or, of course, at your local T-Mobile store. Then again, you could also try your luck at a few stores today, considering that official October 6th launch date isn't exactly set in stone.

Andy Lau promotes his concert and responds to wife’s pregnancy rumors

Recently, Andy Lau’s 44-year old wife Carol Chu was ‘rumored’ to be 3 months pregnant – a magazine also claimed that due to their age, Andy was especially nervous about his wife’s pregnancy and so hired bodyguards to protect her as well as chauffeurs to drive her places. The rumors also claim that after Andy returned to Hong Kong from an earlier trip, he has been keeping his wife company at home and that’s why he has not showed up at many public events.

Since the rumors of his wife’s pregnancy surfaced, Andy has not publicly responded to the rumors. Yesterday, during a promotional event for his upcoming concert, Andy denied the pregnancy rumors, however there was still speculation surrounding it – could it be just ‘wishful thinking’ on the part of the media and general public, or could it be that Andy does not want to admit the pregnancy because it has not reached the 3 month stage yet?

During an interview after the event, Andy was definitely prepared for the reporters’ questions. When the reporter went up to congratulate him on becoming a father soon, Andy’s expression turned serious and he replied: “No. What the magazines wrote [Carol’s rumored pregnancy] – no such matter. I will be doing a concert soon, so don’t want people to think that I’m using that for promotion.” (Did you hire bodyguards and chauffeurs for Carol?) “Not the way the magazines wrote it. The bodyguards and chauffeurs – I’ve had them for a long time already.” Further asked if he wanted to have children and fulfill Deanie’s request of giving her a ‘grandchild’, Andy refused to answer and drew a ‘zipper’ across his mouth with his fingers. When the reporter continued to press him about the matter, Andy finally put up his hands and indicated that he would no longer speak about the matter.

Rob and Kristen's L.A. Dinner Date

After a lovey-dovey date Saturday at Soho House, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart hit the town together again last night!

Robsten went to dinner at the romantic and deelish L.A. Italian restaurant Ago on Melrose, and weren't exactly pleased with who was waiting for them:

R & K tried to sneak in and out of the back entrance unnoticed (and left together in a cab, totally cool!), but naturally the paparazzi had their moves on lockdown. And you could tell the couple wasn't thrilled.

Obviously we wouldn't be happy either if cameras were shoved in our face all the time, so we don't blame the two for not throwing up a peace sign and being smiley.

Hence the reason they occasionally make an appearance at the Soho House, where it's impossible to get papped coming or going—unless you pull a Paris Hilton and have dinner at stalkarazzi swarmed Boa before.

Still, Ago isn't exactly the most incognito restaurant to go to, so we don't think Robsten was totally trying to hide. As they shouldn't!

"They aren't putting on a show with their relationship, but it's not exactly like it's a big secret anymore either," Deep Twi dishes to us.

Android is number one OS among US phone buyers over the last six months

BlackBerry OS? Dead! iOS? Dead! Symbian? Never stood a chance. Android's exponential growth has today been illustrated by Nielsen's statisticians who present us with the above chart of recent US smartphone purchases. It shows that over the six months leading up to August 2010, 32 percent of American new phone buyers had grabbed themselves a device with Google's OS on board, which is comfortably ahead of RIM at 26 percent and Apple at 25 percent. These results corroborate NPD's figures on the matter -- which peg Android at 33 percent of new US purchases -- and reiterate the idea that Android is headed to a place whose name starts with D and ends with omination. One more chart showing total market share can be found after the break (hint: BlackBerry still reigns supreme overall).

Actress Keira Knightley Chops Off Her Hair

Hair ye, hair ye: Keira Knightley has chopped off her hair.

The sexy Brit, 25, debuted a sleek new 20s-style bob Tuesday at the Chanel spring/summer 2011 show during Paris Fashion Week.

"I had my hair bobbed about a month ago, then I had it freshly trimmed again this morning," she told UK InStyle.

The new 'do wasn't for a movie role. "I did it for myself," she insisted. See more shots of Keira's new 'do.

Next up for Knightley, who has described this year as a "whirlwind"?

She can currently be seen in the indie Never Let Me Go.

The actress -- who earned a best supporting actress nod at the 2010 Laurence Olivier Awards for her West End role in The Misanthrope this year -- also wants more stage time.

"I was very lucky," she said, "and I'd love to do more theatre!"

iPad becomes 'most quickly adopted non-phone electronic product,' analysts get giddy

When the iPad finally dropped in April it was greeted with the expected fanfare, but opinions were rather divided about whether the thing would be a long-term success -- even amongst we humble writers. Six months on there can be no doubt, with the tablet selling 4.5 million units in its first quarter of availability according to CNBC. The truly magical iPhone? That managed a (relatively) paltry one million units in the same timeframe after launch, while the now ubiquitous DVD player pushed just 350,000 in its three four months of availability. You know what that means: it's time for analysts to start breaking out the hyperboles -- again. Colin McGranahan from Bernstein Research says "the iPad is a runaway success of unprecedented proportion," meanwhile Pete Najarian from TradeMonster.com calls it a "total media device" and concludes "there's not much a PC can do that you can't do on an iPad." That last bit is certainly debatable, and you know exactly where you can debate it. Just keep it respectful, yeah?

JYJ’s “The Beginning” Luxury Edition sold out

Last week, JYJ (Jaejoong, Micky Yoochun, Xiah Junsu) announced their new global album release titled “The Beginning”.

This upcoming album is produced by Show Shop Entertainment and distributed by Warner Music worldwide. The album will be released on CD & digital formats on October 12th. They also mentioned that they had a special limited ‘Luxury Edition’ of the album which will be numbered and limited to only 99,999 sets. Well it seems the ‘Luxury Edition’ is already sold out according to a press release from JYJ’s camp.

Warner Music has stopped all pre-sales for JYJ’s The Beginning Luxury Edition due to over subscription on demand for the limited collection CD.

Nokia N8 gets 30fps 720p video hack and super-detail still compression tweak

The Nokia N8‘s photography skills are already prompting plenty of discussion, but one modder has instead concentrated on squeezing out some extra performance rather than arguing over the standard results. Notorious Symbian-lover hyperX has already managed to coax the N8 into shooting 720p video at 30fps rather than the default 25fps, and he’s also worked some magic on the smartphone’s still images.

By tweaking the compression routines, which normally produce a 12-megapixel image around 2MB in size, hyperX has managed to get the N8 to output 11MB stills. So far the results of the mod aren’t entirely clear – he needs to shoot some more pictures so that we can compare and contrast – but you can certainly zoom in on details with minimal blurriness.

You can download the 11MB sample photo and the 30fps HD video file from hyperX’s site, and hopefully he’ll be releasing some public ROMs or at least instructions on how to tweak the N8 to replicate his results. We’ll have our own Nokia N8 review very soon.

Samsung sells 5 million Galaxy S units, launches the handset in Japan together with the Galaxy Tab

While announcing the upcoming launch of the Galaxy S Android smartpohne in Japan, Samsung said that worldwide sales of the device have passed the 5 million mark.

More than 2 million units were sold in the US (where Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile all offer the smartphone), while more than 1 million units have been bought by South Korean customers.

In Japan, the Galaxy S will be sold via NTT DoCoMo starting October, coming with Android 2.2 Froyo from the beginning (unlike the European and North American versions, which were shipped with Android 2.1).

The Japanese Galaxy S will still feature Samsung’s Super AMOLED display, so production has not been halted after all.

In November, NTT DoCoMo will launch the Galaxy Tab tablet, too (which also has Froyo on-board, of course). No word yet on the prices the Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab will have in Japan.

Preview of Big Bang’s new song?

On a recent airing of Season 2 of Mnet’s 2NE1TV, a special treat was given to VIP’s during the Big Bang TV portion of the show.

The segment gave a preview of an upcoming Big Bang song and shows the guys working hard in the studio along with Teddy & Kush. Fellow YG Entertainment artist Se7en is also seen hanging out in the recording studio.

It seems G-Dragon likes to goof around while recording as he’s seen having a lot of fun with the dancing. However, from the small snippets we can hear in this segment this track sounds pretty awesome.

Hangeng is “really shy” when it comes to love

Appearing for the first time since he flew solo from Korean boyband Super Junior, China-born Han Geng is all coy when it comes to relationships

Since his departure from Korean pop group Super Junior, Han Geng is all ready to fly solo with his first appearance in Singapore last Friday. He officially left SuJu to break into the Mandopop industry as a "newcomer" and was in to town promote his first album My Logo launched in July.

During his meet-and-greet session with local fans in Singapore, Han Geng was in high spirits during the press conference as he talked about shopping and eating local food upon touching down on Thursday.

He also gleefully mentioned that the shirt he was wearing was bought on that day itself.

When asked about love during an exclusive interview with xinmsn, Han Geng revealed his shy nature and bashfully revealed that he is a "passive and unromantic person".

"I'm really shy!

"I'm more of an introvert and am not very good with words," he quipped.
