Britney Spears is number 3 on list of Hollywood's top earning women (but refuses to fix that awful hair)

She's one of the most successful artists in the world, making $64 million over the past year alone.

And yet the concept of a hairbrush seems to be lost on Britney Spears.

The singer went out on a date last night with boyfriend Jason Trawick to The Troubadour in West Hollywood.

And while her outfit of shorts and boots and a grey jacket looked smart enough, she completely undermined it by opting to tie her straggly hair extensions back with a purple hair band.

Jason meanwhile kept it simple and casual in blue jeans and grey shirt.

Michael Jackson Akon Duet “Hold My Hand” On Sale Monday

A collaboration between Senegalese singer-producer Akon and the late King of Pop Michael Jackson recorded three years ago will go on sale on Monday, Nov. 15 as the first single off an album of new music from Jackson, Sony Records confirmed on Thursday.

“The world was not ready to hear ‘Hold My Hand’ when it leaked a couple years ago. We were devastated about it,” says Akon, who worked with Michael before his death of a propofol overdose in June 2009. “But its time has definitely come; now in its final state, it has become an incredible, beautiful, anthemic song. I’m so proud to have had the chance to work with Michael, one of my all time idols.”

The self-titled project also features collaborations with 50 Cent and Lenny Kravitz.

Samsung 'flagship' phone with Gingerbread and huge display coming in early 2011

Okay, so you're not feeling Samsung's Nexus S. We'd say that's a little premature, but still, we get it. We understand. How about this, then? Is this more to your liking? We've just been tipped with a few morsels on what should become Samsung's flagship Android device early next year -- February, to be specific, suggesting we could see an unveiling at MWC -- and it's looking promising. Different parts of the slide deck describe it as having either a 4.3- or 4.5-inch "sAMOLED2" display, presumably standing for "Super AMOLED 2" and implying that Sammy's made some advancements over the screens we've been seeing on the Galaxy S series this year. It'll naturally have Android Gingerbread and be equipped with an 8 megapixel camera capable of 1080p video capture, 14.4Mbps HSPA, Bluetooth 3.0, a 1.2GHz core of some sort, and 16GB of storage onboard. The deck describes it as having an "ultra sleek design," and judging from the side shot, we'd tend to agree. So who's holding out for this?

Update: We're confident that the above slide comes from Samsung, but one of the pictures therein is most definitely not of a new Samsung phone -- but rather a VoIP handset by Apiotek from several years ago. Considering the image in question pops up right away in a Google Image search for "ultra slim phone," we're inclined to think Samsung got a little hasty putting together the PowerPoint this time round.

Kin One and Two are returning to Verizon. Wait, what?

Unbelievably, against all odds and better judgment, we are able to independently confirm that Microsoft's short-lived Kin One and Kin Two are coming back for an encore performance on Verizon, possibly as soon as this quarter -- but it won't quite be the same product you remember from earlier this year. The phones were famously bashed for the unrealistic plan pricing model that put them head-to-head with actual, full-fledged smartphones -- despite the fact that the devices were targeted squarely at tweens, teens, and twentysomethings -- and we're hearing that the revised phones will be totally, completely debundled from data services. Data-centric features like the Loop "are out," we're told -- but the good news is that you'll still be able to use one of the product's most redeeming qualities, Zune Pass, over WiFi if you're not signed up for a proper data plan. Of course, the value proposition of a Kin without... well, without its only value proposition is questionable at best, so we're thinking this might just be a way to clear huge backlogs of hardware inventory before pulling the plug on the program. Seriously, who wants a Kin without the unlimited photo uploads?

Facebook’s Gmail Killer, Project Titan, Is Coming On Monday

Back in February we wrote about Facebook’s secret Project Titan — a web-based email client that we hear is unofficially referred to internally as its “Gmail killer”. Now we’ve heard from sources that this is indeed what’s coming on Monday during Facebook’s special event, alongside personal @facebook.com email addresses for users.

This isn’t a big surprise — the event invites Facebook sent out hinted strongly that the news would have something to do with its Inbox, sparking plenty of speculation that the event could be related to Titan. Our understanding is that this is more than just a UI refresh for Facebook’s existing messaging service with POP access tacked on. Rather, Facebook is building a full-fledged webmail client, and while it may only be in early stages come its launch Monday, there’s a huge amount of potential here.

Facebook has the world’s most popular photos product, the most popular events product, and soon will have a very popular local deals product as well. It can tweak the design of its webmail client to display content from each of these in a seamless fashion (and don’t forget messages from games, or payments via Facebook Credits). And there’s also the social element: Facebook knows who your friends are and how closely you’re connected to them; it can probably do a pretty good job figuring out which personal emails you want to read most and prioritize them accordingly.

Oh, and assuming our sources prove accurate, this explains the timing of the Google/Facebook slap fight over contact information.

We’ll keep digging for more details and will have full coverage on Monday.

VanNess Wu - Life's Choice

Since converting to Christianity, Vanness Wu (Van Ness) admits that his temper has mellowed significantly. He said, in the past he often lose his temper and was a very impatient person, especially when he was busy with work, and when he loses his temper it is very scary as he would even throw things, “Right now I’m learning how to improve my temper and day by day, step by step, I’m continuously improving.”

Van Ness does not deny that because he lived in America, he is a very straightforward person, “whereas Asians are accustomed to beating around the bush, and the fact that not many people understands the real me, hence sometimes there will be misunderstandings, so right now I’m also learning how to communicate and interact with others.”

So this is your homework from God? To which Van Ness very seriously replied, “Life is a type of choice, for example, if there is friction between 2 people , you can choose to 1) lose your temper; 2) start a fight; 3) think about it and understand the other person’s state of mind, and God gave me a chance, allowing me to continuously experience the choices in life. Just like how every morning after I wake up, the first thing I choose to do is to eat chocolate, then I choose to pray and thirdly I choose to brush my teeth.

Spellbinding Emma Watson's sticky situation: Actress tapes revealing vintage dress to her back at world premiere of seventh Harry Potter movie

She was just a nervous 11-year-old schoolgirl when she first appeared on the red carpet.

But yesterday it was Emma Watson the confident and vivacious young woman who was the centre of attention at the premiere of the latest Harry Potter epic.

Miss Watson, now 20, opted for a short, revealing black, see-through lace and feather dress by Rafael Lopez for Atelier Mayer, teamed with black heels by Charlotte Olympia.

She made sure there were no wardrobe malfunctions by having the dress strapped to her back, to stop it falling open any further.

The actress, who has played Hermione Granger in all the Harry Potter films was was joined by Daniel Radcliffe – Harry Potter – and Rupert Grint who plays Ron Weasley at the Leicester Square premiere of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows - Part 1.

Box office preview: Can 'Megamind' fend off 'Unstoppable'?

Like last weekend, a trio of new releases will be crowding theaters and giving those afflicted with decidophobia a strenuous workout. But unlike last weekend, during which the box office tallied a massive $152 million overall, this weekend’s figures will be more subdued. None of the three new movies is expected to approach the $46 million Megamind collected a week ago, and if my predictions hold true, the superhero comedy should emerge victorious once again. But Megamind will face some stiff competition from Fox’s runaway-train action film Unstoppable and Universal’s aliens-hate-Earthlings thriller Skyline. And then there is Paramount’s workplace comedy Morning Glory, which will likely have to settle for fifth place. My predictions:

1. Megamind: $29 million

While the $130 million animated film failed to match the openings of the biggest DreamWorks Animation blockbusters, it still did quite well for itself. The comedy received good reviews and an “A-” score from CinemaScore moviegoers (and, in particular, an “A” from those under 25). But the best thing Megamind has going for it is this: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows isn’t being released this week. Thus, with no new kiddie entertainment, expect a small drop of around 37 percent.

This is Google Nexus S Made by Samsung?

Here it is: the Nexus S, your Gingerbread-running Google phone from Samsung, and the presumed sequel to the HTC-produced Nexus One. These pictures were taken about a month ago, but it's still unclear exactly when we can expect an announcement. Needless to say, if you happen to be near a Google or Samsung campus, keep a keen eye out for these things right now.

Update: We contacted Google for comment and were told that the company doesn't comment on rumors or speculation -- the usual drill.

HTC Mecha / Incredible HD pictured for Verizon with a fancy '4G' symbol

If you weren't so keen on that LTE-enabled LG handset for Verizon that we saw recently, feat your eyes on this puppy. What we're looking at here is allegedly the HTC Mecha -- which may be known at retail as the Droid Incredible HD -- and from the looks of it, it'll be the first true EVO 4G equivalent from HTC for Big Red. And yes, when we say "EVO 4G equivalent," we mean 4G network support, too: you'll notice a little "4G" symbol up there toward the right side of the status bar, suggesting this will likely be among the company's inaugural LTE phones early next year. Android Central's source says that the phone is getting 9Mbps down and 5Mbps up in testing right now... so let's just hope those speeds hold up when the network actually launches.

Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp: We Aren't That Social

OK, so the above title doesn't exactly come as a complete surprise.

After all, Johnny Depp is known for keeping a very low-profile while Angelina Jolie is pretty much a homebody who keeps busy telling Shiloh she can't have a dead bird as a pet.

But it's still kinda cool to hear it directly from two of the prettiest people on the planet…

"We're both not that social," Jolie reveals to Entertainment Weekly. "I don't think either one of us goes out of our house, especially in France. We're both locked away."

Which probably explains why, believe it or not, these two had never actually bumped into each other until they showed up to shoot their upcoming flick The Tourist.

In fact, to hear Depp talk about Jolie and her significant other, there's a sense that he gets his celebrity news and gossip just like the rest of us.

"So much has been written about Angie and Brad [Pitt]," he says. "They're sort of the Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton of our era. I knew she was a big star, but I didn't know what to expect...."

The Tourist opens Dec. 10.

JYJ’s P1 visas denied, members to put on a free concert

Recently, we broke the news about some trouble brewing for JYJ’s US Concert Tour, and now it has been officially confirmed – the boys allegedly can’t get working visas, so they’re unable to claim an income from the sales.

ENTITLED ENTERTAINMENT recently updated their website confirming what we first reported, and they’ve also shed light that the members will pay for the showcase themselves to honor their commitment to their fans in the US. In other words, they will perform free concerts for the fans.

Ady An and Van Ness Wu recreate classic scene from Autumn’s Concerto

Ady An has also been making the headlines thanks to Barbie Hsu’s sudden engagement. The couple was reportedly introduced at An's birthday party back in September. However, rumors began to circulate in regards to her involvement with the groom-to-be. Some said she has secretly loved him for 5 years, while others claimed she was drinking herself drunk after news of the engagement broke out.

The actress recently returned to Taiwan and responded on being dragged into the media frenzy, “The phone calls were endless. I was filming at the time, (it) really scared me to death!” As for photos of her crying in the arms of Wang Xiao Fei, her friend refuted, “She is close with everyone, it's something she does often. It is not directed to anyone specifically.”

Ady An met up with her Autumn’s Concerto director Chen Hui Ling and costar Van Ness Wu for a dinner gathering a few days ago. Chen directed them to recreate the classic wedding photo from their drama. She also joked that since Ady An knows a lot of rich men in the mainland, people should suck up to her if they want to marry into a rich family.

Check It Out! Cheryl Cole plays it cheesy for cameo in Will.i.am video featuring hot new American export Nicki Minaj

We're more used to seeing her pull brooding expressions in her videos.

But Cheryl Cole has dropped her intense face for a decidedly cheesy one as she makes a cameo appearance on her pal Will.i.am's new track, Check It Out.

The video also features hot new American export Nicki Minaj, who is being bigged up as the next hot act to come out of the States.

The song samples the 1979 hit Video Killed The Radio Star and sees Cheryl prancing around in a tight corset and sleek leather leggings.

Her LA look is topped off with a golden tan, long hair extensions and the 27-year-old X Factor judge pulls a series of funny faces too.

At first it was thought Cheryl's Black Eyed Peas friend Will.i.am was helping to boost her profile in the States, with rumours swirling she has signed a £6m record deal with Universal.

But Cheryl will only feature on and lend her vocals to the UK version of the video.

AMC cancels 'Rubicon'

Bad news for Rubicon fans (however many — or few – there may be out there): AMC announced today that it will not be renewing the original series for a second season. The drama first premiered on the cable network on Aug. 1 and was from Warner Horizon TV.

“Rubicon gave us an opportunity to tell a rich and compelling story, and we’re proud of the series,” the network said in a statement. “This was not an easy decision, but we are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such a phenomenally talented and dedicated team.”

The drama starred James Badge Dale, Arliss Howard and Miranda Richardson.

iTunes Ping comes to Twitter

There's a crucial new partnership for Ping, the social music service that Apple launched as part of its iTunes 10 unveiling this summer: Twitter users can now link up their accounts.

"Once you've linked the accounts, whenever you post, like, review, or tell your friends why you purchased a song or album on Ping, this activity will also be tweeted to your Twitter followers--complete with playable song previews and links to purchase and download music from iTunes," a post on the Twitter blog explained.

This is big, because Ping was one of those rare Apple product launches that legitimately underwhelmed, largely because the long-rumored iTunes social-networking initiative did not sync up to either Facebook or Twitter. Apple said at launch that Ping users would be able to sync up with their Facebook friends, something that never came to fruition. Apple CEO Steve Jobs hinted that negotiations with Facebook had soured, citing "onerous terms" on behalf of the massive social network. It's not like Facebook and Apple have never partnered before: Facebook Connect is available for iPhoto uploads, and there's a separate version of the universal log-in tool just for the iPhone.

But Twitter's terms are apparently more flexible, and they're even integrating an iTunes song preview into the Twitter.com interface, adding yet another feature to the "New Twitter" redesign that the company launched several months ago.

Yahoos Freaking Out Over 20% Layoff Rumors (Yahoo Denies)

Yahoo is preparing to lay off 20% of total staff, we’ve heard from two independent sources, and managers have been asked to begin to make the tough decisions on who stays and who goes. This news comes just days after Google announced a 10% pay raise and $1,000 spot bonus for all employees. This is a story we’ve been tracking down for weeks.

At the end of 2009 Yahoo had nearly 14,000 employees, and they currently have 14,100 employees. There have been layoffs in this last year, as well as new hiring, but a 20% hit suggests 2,500 people or more will shortly be out of a job. As we reported in September, the company will likely be hiring additional employees in Bangalore and other locations to handle some development and operational jobs being cut in the U.S.

We contacted Yahoo for comment. They responded “we do not comment on rumor or speculation.” Also no word on whether CEO Carol Bartz might be willing to take a pay cut to a more palatable, say $10 million/year. That $30 million would allow Yahoo to keep 300 employees on at a more than respectable $100k/year.

Update: Yahoo says via a statement that we’re being “misleading and inaccurate.” “Yahoo! is always evaluating expenses to align with the company’s financial goals. However, a 20% reduction in Yahoo’s workforce across the board is misleading and inaccurate.” I’m sticking by this story based on our sources, and all have confirmed that managers are being asked to target 20%. Perhaps they’re finding wiggle room in the total percentage, or what employee groups are affected (U.S. v. international, etc.) Also, given how widespread this information is within Yahoo’s ranks, I don’t see the point of denying the plans.

GP Basic reveals new single “I’ll Be There”

Girl group GP Basic who made their debut back in August with “Game” and was recently scrutinized for having sexually suggestive content are now back with a new single.

The single is titled “I’ll Be There” and this time around they shouldn’t have to worry about scrutiny over sexually suggestive material. Check it out below and remember to support them by purchasing the music.

Jolin Tsai gets boot camp training from Vivian Dawson

It has been four years since Jolin Tsai's last concert in Taipei Arena and she's back with three sell-out shows this Christmas from 24 Dec to 26 Dec.

A third show was added on 26 Dec after 20,000 tickets for the first two shows were sold-out within 2 days.

News reports have revealed that she will transform into a diamond studded "reindeer goddess" in conjunction with her Christmas concerts this year.

In order to perform in high heels and a 10kg reindeer horn gear, Jolin has been working on a fitness regime with rumoured boyfriend Vivian Dawson, who's also an ex fitness trainer.

According to sources, the pair has already begun training at the condominium's gym where the singer has just moved into.

Selina Ren’s production team shirks responsibility

Since the explosion on the set of I Have a Date with Summer that caused Selina Ren's third degree burns, the production team has not only submitted a sloppy post-accident report, they also put the blame solely on the explosives expert.

Not pleased with the response, Selina's company HIM International brought up four major loopholes in the report:

(1) There were no fire extinguishing tools readily available on set, such as water pails, damp rug sacks and fire extinguishers.
(2) There was no substitute for the explosion scene despite production saying there was. The script had only stated for a male stand-in for a fight scene.
(3) There were no paramedics or so-called water on standby when the accident happened except for a few mineral water bottles.
(4) Production team blamed the entire accident solely on the explosive expert without revealing the entire story.

HIM International has expressed their request to see a much detailed report with all the parties involved.
