Crystal Bowersox's Illness Clouds Contestant's Future

You're a big deal if you can force 'American Idol' to shift its schedule. Last week, the guys sang before the girls after Crystal Bowersox's doctor kept the sick singer off the stage. It was an unprecedented shakeup for one of TV's most reliably scheduled shows. This week, Bowersox swept the incident aside and followed her talent into the Top 12. But will her health keep her from winning it all?

Former 'American Idol' favorites Christina Christian, Megan Joy, Carly Smithson and David Cook also experienced health scares during competition. Cook, whose condition was perhaps the most serious in 'Idol's' history, was hospitalized for heart palpitations and high blood pressure after Dolly Parton night during season seven. He went on to win it all.

Bowersox, a 24-year-old Ohio native and mother of one, suffers from diabetes. She is the unanimous favorite among online betting sites to win season nine. Last week, it was questionable whether she'd even be able to compete for the Top 16.

But 'Idol' producers shuffled the schedule to accommodate the hospitalized musician. The men performed on Tuesday, and the women on Wednesday, allowing the sick Bowersox an extra day of rest, and injecting a fascinating storyline into a show whose ratings have recently slumped. Predictably, show producers said the shakeup was all about Bowersox's health. Had she failed to make it onstage last Wednesday, she would have been the first competitor in the show's history to be disqualified for health reasons.

"If you're in the Olympics and you're going for the semifinal, for the final, if you don't turn up, you don't get straight through to the final," executive producer Ken Warwick told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show last week.

Crystal turned up last week, in a big way. Simon Cowell raved about her performance of Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Long As I Can See the Light.'

"This was like the moment we realized with Kelly Clarkson that we've got a really serious artist here."

Demi Lovato Confirms She's Dating Joe Jonas

It's like the happy ending to a Disney movie: A smitten-sounding Demi Lovato revealed Friday that she is indeed dating Joe Jonas.

During an interview with Access Hollywood's Billy Bush on his radio program, The Billy Bush Show, the host asked Lovato if she'd ever dated any of the Jonas Brothers, "Umm, maybe," she said coyly.

"Which one? Joe?" asked Bush, to which Lovato said, "Yeah. He's actually… he's my best friend."

Pressing for clarification, Bush said, "So you guys went from boyfriend-girlfriend to best friends?"

"No kind of the opposite," the 17-year-old Sonny with a Chance star explained.

"Oh? So you're dating him now?" asked Bush.

"Umm, yeah he is my best friend and he is incredible," Lovato finally confessed.

Yet another round of BlackBerry slider pics

And just like that, today we have the third photo leak of the mysterious BlackBerry slider. Unlike the first time we saw it but much like the second, the device has been placed next to a Curve 8900 for the sake of a size comparison. On its side the slider is noticeably thicker than the 8900 , but today it has been turned on its side in order to let us know exactly how thick this sucker is. What this device is actually called is anyone’s guess, but the general consensus is that this is not the Storm3. So what then is it? Lately a rumor has been floating around that it is actually a Bold owing to its identical styling queues to the current Bold 9700. Adding to this rumor is a UAProf found on RIM’s website for a 9700a that lists a portrait HVGA+ display (as opposed to the Bold 9700’s landscape HVGA+ display) and this all seems rather possible. Of course dealing with prototypes things can and will change as needed, so it looks like we’re going to have to twiddle our thumbs a little while longer until some more information comes to light. Hit the jump for a pic of device’s rear sans battery cover showing off its brand new F-S1 battery.

MySpace’s Mid Level Management Structure Is Crumbling

The problem with all of these people who are walking out the door at MySpace isn’t so much the number of them, because MySpace is trying to replace them by hiring more people. It’s the fact that the best people are leaving, and taking a lot of the knowledge base with them.

Three star senior employees left to go to cross-town startup Gravity, we reported earlier this week. And tonight we’ve heard that Jeff Webber, the engineering director that oversees the email, instant messaging and other “communications” platforms for MySpace, resigned earlier this week as well to join a startup. He’s been at MySpace for nearly three years and was one of the star engineers and leaders, says one source.

Gillian Chung admits it's hard for her to find her other half

Twins was the guest for "Be My Guest" interview that is broadcast tonight at 7pm and 11pm. During the interview, Charlene Choi (Ah Sa) and Gillian Chung (Ah Gil) frankly said that two years ago, the Artists Photo Scandal forced them to grow up. And also gave them unexpected opportunties for development. Speaking of her love life, Ah Gil hopes that her future other half can control her, Ah Gil said: "If now someone pursues me, I will consider him. After what happened, it's really hard to find someone who is committed and accept my past."

Ah Sa was asked if she would not be happy to respond to her relationship with Ronald Cheng? She said: "The media have reported way too much, I have always been truthful, but I just don't want to be too truthful."

Twins recalls the time they entered the industry and was not willing to meet the public as a duo, they were worried that they would not be welcomed. The two also said that the first time they worked together because they were immature and if they had something to say about the job, they wouldn't dare to speak up. It was only 3 years later when they went on a trip together that they started becoming good friends.

Blue Lan tells Ella to grow up

The stars of Down With Love and P.S. Man have been working overtime to promote their dramas. Both shows will return to the ratings battle this Sunday, but before they do that, their battle of words continues with the latest response from Blue Lan.

Down With Love’s Ella recently joked that Blue Lan didn’t have time to watch other dramas because he was busy saving the ratings for his own show. In true P.S. Man style, Blue Lan replied back by saying, “After so many years, (she) should learn to be more mature.” He added, “(I) hope we can have a healthy competition, and support each other.”

Rumor : Nick Jonas and Selena Gomez ‘Split After Huge Argument’

NICK Jonas and Selena Gomez have reportedly called time on their once red-hot romance.

Insiders say the teen stars — who have been dating on and off over the past twelve months — decided to split following yet “another” massive argument.

“They had another huge argument the night of The Oscars,” blabbed one insider.

“I think they are slowing [their relationship] down.”

During a radio interview Friday, Selena seemed to confirm the split, saying, “Nothing is going on with Nick Jonas.”

However, the duo could get back together.

Insiders said last month how the pair were in “love” with each other.

“These past few weeks have brought them a lot closer,” dished one source.

“Both are always texting & calling each other. They are even using the love word now!”

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy Split

After a year-long romance, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy have broken up, a rep has confirmed exclusively to PEOPLE.

No further details were available.

Though some in the blogosphere called them an unlikely couple, Kennedy and Hewitt regularly gushed over each other.

When Kennedy first confirmed the romance in March 2009, he told Ryan Seacrest during a radio interview, "I'm in love!" Describing his costar on Ghost Whisperer, Kennedy said: "It's like, 'Wow, you are hot. You can sing, you can dance, you're like, so smart and, wow, you can cook pasta fagioli, too.' "

Hewitt called her beau "hilarious," but praised him as more than just a funnyman. "There are people in your life who are just supportive and who just look at you and they see who you are," Hewitt told Ellen DeGeneres last year. "And [Jamie] really saw who I was as a person more than anybody had ever done in my whole life. I think that's for me when I sort of went, 'Oh, wow.' "

Sawajiri Erika Appears Nude for Comeback

Currently paving the way for her comeback, Sawajiri Eriki will be holding a press conference next Tuesday to mark her return to showbiz. Her first piece of work will be for Takano Yuri Beauty Clinic. Earlier on, a still frame from the new commercial was leaked online. Like their previous commercials, the newly slimmed down Sawajiri appears nude in the ad with only a small portion covering her important parts.

Sawajiri has been very strict regarding how she wants the press conference to run. There are six rules that have been implemented and the press must stay within the rules if they want to be included. These restrictions have angered people in the field. It seems she still has a lot of work to do to improve her image. As well, several customers from Takano Yuri have voiced their complaints about using her as the clinic's spokesperson. The clinic has stated that if she displays poor work ethic, they will terminate her contract.

BIG FOUR lets out "laugh bombs" by stomping on each other during HK Coliseum World Tour Concert

At the five show "THE BIG FOUR WORLD TOUR CONCERT: THE HONG KONG STOP", Big Four stomped on each other, constantly letting out "laugh bombs". They opened their private photo album to the public and revealed a secret video clip of William So coming out of the shower, making everyone laugh. The concert was at its peak when Sammi Cheng appeared near the end of the concert. Dicky Cheung personally put Andy Hui "on the table", saying that he needs to give her a house to his old lover Sammi for her support.

It was the first of 5 shows to Big Four's concert last night, the Dicky Cheung, Andy Hui, William So, Edmond Leung (Big Four) were stomping on each other the entire night. Five Reasons Why Robert Pattinson's New Movie Will Hit—or Not

Will Team Edward members turn out for Robert Pattinson when he's moonlighting as some mortal guy named Tyler?

That's the box-office question for Pattinson and Remember Me, the Twilight star's first movie since becoming the abbreviatable R.Pattz. And we've got the answer. Five of them, in fact. In two parts. The better to obsess over. Here goes.

Remember Me will hit because...

1. It can't miss.

Nobody expects the film, a straight-ahead romantic drama trying to make a go of it in a genre dominated by Nicholas Sparks-spawned titles, to topple Alice in Wonderland, or even challenge Matt Damon's Green Zone for distant second at the weekend box office.

IE9 and MIX10: six big questions for Microsoft

A few weeks ago, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Microsoft unveiled its strategy to reclaim a place in the crucial market for mobile devices. At the time, I posted Seven big questions about the new Windows Phone 7 Series. I expect to get answers to at least some of those questions next week at the MIX10 conference in Las Vegas. But another, equally important batch of news is also on tap for next week. Microsoft will be discussing its plans for Internet Explorer 9 in detail for the first time at MIX10.

I spoke briefly with Dean Hachamovitch, General Manager of the Internet Explorer group, at Microsoft’s Professional Developers Conference last November. At that time, the company announced its general strategy for IE9, but held off on the specifics. Now, after nearly four months of development since that announcement, it’s time for Microsoft to show us what they’ve got. I’m sitting down with Dean again next week, and here are some of the questions I plan to ask:

Apple iPad orders “so overwhelming” new in-store collections frozen? ; Apple iPad -Model A1337

The storm of iPad preorders this morning has reportedly been “so overwhelming” that Apple’s customer services team are apparently warning would-be buyers that there may not be stock to pick up in-store come April 3rd. According to multiple MacDailyNews readers, buyers who have contacted Apple’s customer card team to change their order from delivery to in-store collection are being told that the tablets may in fact be in short supply at their Saturday launch.

That’s because, to change from delivery to pick-up, the order must in fact be cancelled and then re-placed as an in-store collection. However, the “overwhelming” number of orders have seemingly left Apple uncertain as to whether they’ll have sufficient store units to satisfy that demand.

Xbox regains lead in console battle

Microsoft's Xbox 360 led console sales in the US last month for the first time in more than two years as Nintendo continued to suffer supply problems for the Wii.

Microsoft sold 422,000 Xbox 360s in February compared to sales of 398,000 for the Wii and 360,000 for Sony's PlayStation 3, according to research company NPD.

Nintendo told the Financial Times last month it had been operating "hand-to-mouth" in supplying retailers with products in January and February after 3.8m Wiis were sold in the US in December.

"On the Wii hardware side, we are back to a situation where demand is exceeding supply and we're going to be in that situation through to the end of March," said Reggie Fils-Aimé, president of Nintendo of America.

iPhone Pro concept adds slide-out gaming controls, MagSafe [Video]

If we’re being honest, we far prefer clever renders of what designers think the next-gen iPhone should look like rather than so-called “leaked” shots that smell unduly fake. Italian design firm ADR Studio have thrown their oar in with this, the iPhone Pro, coupling iPad styling with some Transformer-like slide out panels offering gaming controls.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen designers attempt to cater to gamers with their iPhone concepts. Given Apple’s attempts in recent months to position the smartphone – and its iPod touch cousin – as a legitimate gaming handheld we wouldn’t be surprised if the company themselves were looking at how to make the control experience better, though we don’t imagine they’d quite take the step to giving the next-gen phone wings.

Jay Chou brings a song, a MV, and The Drifters

Jay Chou has finally come back to the music scene, after a few failed endeavors, by the creation of a new duo group, The Drifters (浪花兄弟 lit. Ocean Spray Brothers), made up of 2 male members, Darren (邱凱偉) and Chang Qing (楊常青).

The Drifters' new album of the same name will be released under the JVR label on March 16th and will have 11 tracks. The album's first track, "Write to You When I Think of You" (想你就寫信), was produced as a collaboration between Jay and Vincent Fang and is accompanied with a MV directed by Jay and shot in Japan.

Best of luck to them and hopefully this new endeavor of Jay Chou's will be a success. It is in the music industry after all...

Hyoyeon and Sooyoung’s Black Soshi concept released!

We’ve already gotten an eyeful of Yuri, Taeyeon and Seohyun, but SM Entertainment keeps SNSD’s momentum going with the release of Hyoyeon and Sooyoung’s sexy Black Soshi concept photos!

The girls are focusing on preparing for their comeback stages next week, so unfortunately we won’t be able to see the girls on any music shows this week. SM Entertainment is making up for their absence on the music stage, however, with the daily release of members’ concept photos until the 15th. Prepare yourselves to be teased out of your minds when the MV teaser is released on the 16th! Three days following the final release of concept shots, their brand new song will be released!

After American Idol: Todrick Hall Really, Really Wants In on Glee

There's no shame in begging—and begging and begging—right?

If you happen to be American Idol castoff Todrick Hall, the answer is obviously no. "I'm making it my personal job now to be my own campaign manager to get myself a role on Glee," Todrick confidently informed reporters Friday afternoon of his postshow plans.

It may not sound like begging yet, but wait, there's more...

“24″ Moving To NBC?

A new report is suggesting that NBC is in discussions to purchase 24 if Fox doesn’t sign the hit series for another season.

The troubled Peacock is interested in picking up the real-time drama should FOX decide to pull the plug on the show at the end of its current eighth season, Entertainment Weekly has learned. On Wednesday, reports surfaced claiming the FOX is considering axing the series due to declining ratings and spiralling production costs.

“There’s definitely some interest….”

iPad mute switch magicked into a 'screen rotation lock' overnight, a flurry of other tidbits emerge

Apple's pushing out a few more scraps of info about the iPad in conjunction with the launch of pre-orders. One of the quirkier details is that what was previously known as the mute switch on the iPad -- similar to the one on the iPhone -- is now known as the "screen rotation lock" on Apple's website. We suppose it makes more sense for this sort of device, both due to the "hold it any way you feel like" marketing push, and since it's less likely to start ringing in the middle of a Remember Me screening than your iPhone is. In other news, it's been confirmed that iBooks will be able to sync free (non-DRM'd) ePub titles in from iTunes, which is good news for people who want to use an existing ePub stash of theirs with Apple's fancy page-flipping interface. Also on the books front, it was clarified today that the iPad can indeed use VoiceOver screen-reading for reading pages of books out loud -- we knew the screen reading tech was on the iPad, but now it sounds as if it will be more directly integrated into iBooks. Apple also clarified today that folks who sign up for the 250MB iPad data plan will receive pop-up alerts when they're running short on data, similar to battery warnings, at the 20 percent, 10 percent and zero marks. There's an account management pane that lets you sign up for or cancel service, add another 250MB, or swap to an unlimited plan. But wait, there's more! Apple's also confirming a few more iPhone OS 3.2 features, like the addition of Google's "Terrain" view in maps and a slightly revamped iPod app UI. 3.2 also brings some nice video tweaks like support for additional formats (AVI and MJPEG) and native uploads to Facebook -- further boosting the iPad's external camera friendliness.

Microsoft races to plug IE hole after exploit code released

Microsoft said on Friday it is testing a patch to fix a new hole in Internet Explorer 6 and IE 7 following the release of exploit code on the Internet.

With the announcement it seems increasingly likely that the company will be issuing a patch for the hole before the next Patch Tuesday in about four weeks, if the testing of the patch goes quickly.

Microsoft warned about the hole, which it said was being targeted in attacks and could allow an attacker to take control of a computer, in an advisory on Tuesday. The next day, Israeli researcher Moshe Ben Abu released exploit code for the vulnerability after using clues in a McAfee blog post to find existing exploit code and pinpointing the weakness from there.

"We have seen speculation that Microsoft might release an update for this issue out of band. I can tell you that we are working hard to produce an update which is now in testing," Jerry Bryant, senior security communications manager lead at Microsoft, wrote in a post on the Microsoft Security Response Center blog.

Looks like Google is leaving China...

According to a bevy of reports, Li Yizhong, the minister of Industry and Information Technology, said Google has to obey China’s laws—and that means censoring search results.

The Associated Press has the money quote:

“If you want to do something that disobeys Chinese law and regulations, you are unfriendly, you are irresponsible and you will have to pay the consequences.”

Looks like there is no room for negotiation here.

Yet Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google, earlier this week was reported by Jerry Dicolo at the Wall Street Journal, saying, “We are in active negotiations with the Chinese government.” He added that “something will happen soon.“

Nokia C6 is actually a 5230-ish landscape slider?

We hate to turn your entire world -- nay, your very belief system -- on its end, but it's at least conceivable here that the so-called Nokia Mystic with the portrait QWERTY keyboard may not be the upcoming C6 after all. Instead, Tom's Guide is submitting this bright white exhibit as the device lucky enough to wear the C6 name, a phone that looks a whole hell of a lot like a 5230 with a QWERTY slider tacked on for good measure. That would make sense considering Nokia's goal of turning the freshly-introduced Cseries into a midrange, consumer-friendly brand; this phone could easily slot in below the N97 Mini, for example, particularly in light of rumors that the phone will lack the N97's beefy internal storage. Word is the C6 is pegged for a European release by Summer, so start cleaning off those 5800s and 5230s for eBay right now, why don't you?

Cheaper version of Google’s Nexus One to be launched in India?

Here’s a rumor that, if true, might make a lot of customers happy: a cheaper Google Nexus One could be in the making for India and other emerging markets.

According to Techtree, the cheaper Nexus One will be slimmer than the original (which is really thin itself at only 11.5mm) and it should obviously have downgraded features.

Ady An flies in mid-air after starving for 12 hours

After playing a super Mom in the mega hit idol drama, Autumn’s Concerto, Ady An is now playing a superhuman in a new video game commercial. When she’s not chasing Xiao Xiao Bin around to shoot him with “Energy Crystals,” she’s flying in mid-air to hunt down evils.

While Ady has been accustomed to hanging on wires while dressed in period costumes, she starved for 12 hours in order to film this commercial (since you can’t go hanging on wires with a full stomach). After flying around from day till night, it was enough to make Ady go dizzy and want to vomit. Ady sighed, “My bones are about to break.” In addition to the hardcore flying, some filming for the commercial also took place outdoors at zero degrees Celsius while snowing at Beijing. All her hard work is paid off as the commercial earns her ten million (NT).
