Cheaper version of Google’s Nexus One to be launched in India?

Here’s a rumor that, if true, might make a lot of customers happy: a cheaper Google Nexus One could be in the making for India and other emerging markets.

According to Techtree, the cheaper Nexus One will be slimmer than the original (which is really thin itself at only 11.5mm) and it should obviously have downgraded features.

We don’t know what that means, but perhaps the new Nexus One will not have a 5MP camera, a 3.7 inch WVGA display, or a Snapdragon processor. The handset might not even look like the original Nexus One (which appeared today at Vodafone UK’s website).

If this cheaper Android smartphone does indeed exist, I guess it could be called Google Nexus One Mini (since there are a lot of Mini handsets announced lately – see the HTC HD Mini or the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini). Well, let’s wait for more concrete info to show up.
