“Clash of the Titans,” a 3-D adventure based on Greek mythology, was the top film at U.S. and Canadian theaters this weekend, bringing in $61.4 million in ticket sales for Time Warner Inc.
“Why Did I Get Married Too” opened in second place, posting $30.2 million for Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., Hollywood.com Box-Office said today in an e-mailed statement.
“Clash,” starring Sam Worthington and Liam Neeson, is competing for 3-D screens with Walt Disney Co.’s “Alice in Wonderland” and DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc.’s “How to Train Your Dragon,” which was the top movie last weekend. A remake of the 1981 film, “Clash” follows Perseus, the son of Zeus, who embarks on a quest to protect earth from Hades, god of the underworld.

We've taken an in-depth and thorough look at the iPad, but we wanted to spend a little time with some of Apple's official accessories the company handed out with review units. There's nothing crazy here, but we did make some interesting observations about add-ons for the iPad, so join us for a phantasmagorical peek inside the world of fantabulous tablet accessamifyin'.

One other key tidbit was just added to the Mercury article about Steve Jobs showing up at the Apple Store. Tech Analyst Gene Munster over at Piper Jaffray, believes that 600,000 to 700,000 were sold today alone. Earlier, he believed 300,000 would be sold over the entire weekend. As a point of reference, 270,000 iPhones were sold in its opening weekend. [SJ Mercury]

HTC's HD2 might have only been out for less than two weeks, but they still can't keep the phone in stock, selling out again this week. Furthermore, up to 21,000 HD2 phones have sold in a single day.
T-Mobile doesn't know when they'll get more HD2's in stock (and be able to keep them in stock), but they'll let customers know when more phones are available. For now, you can load Windows 7 on an iPad and pretend it's a giant HD2. (KIDDING!)

The Apple iPad. The name is a killing word -- more than a product -- it's a statement, an idea, and potentially a prime mover in the world of consumer electronics. Before iPad it was called the Apple Tablet, the Slate, Canvas, and a handful of other guesses -- but what was little more than rumor and speculation for nearly ten years is now very much a reality. Announced on January 27th to a middling response, Apple has been readying itself for what could be the most significant product launch in its history; the making (or breaking) of an entirely new class of computer for the company. The iPad is something in between its monumental iPhone and wildly successful MacBook line -- an usurper to the netbook throne, and possibly a sign of things to come for the entire personal computer market... if Apple delivers on its promises. And those are some big promises; the company has been tossing around words like "magical" and "revolutionary" to describe what many have dismissed as nothing more than a larger version of its iPod touch. But is that all there is to this device? Is the hope that Apple promises for this new computing experience nothing more than marketing fluff and strategic hyperbole? Or is this a different beast altogether -- a true sign that change has come to the world of the PC? We have the definitive answers to those questions (and many more) right here, so read on for our full review of the Apple iPad!

We have just looked evil in the face. Its name is iDisplay. Based on an incredibly promising concept, iDisplay purported to extend our Mac's display onto an iPad or an iPhone, over the magic of WiFi. In reality it threatened to destroy our very lives. The application, after installation, tells your computer that it has two displays running concurrently (even when the program isn't open), and limits your main display to a lower resolution -- either with blurry pixels or letterboxing (the latter is shown above). This of course eliminates the purpose of extending a display almost entirely. Add in the fact that we couldn't even get the iDisplay application to open on our Snow Leopard Mac, and we can't imagine recommending this $4.99 combo to a single soul on earth. Even the uninstall process was harrowing. Please, for the sake of your children and your children's children, stay away from this app.

While today marks the first day the Apple iPad went on sale, it also gives us a glimpse into the upcoming stuff from Cupertino. One of our connects has been digging around the iPad filesystem and found references to the following:
* iPhone3,2
* iPhone3,3
* iPod4,1
* iProd2,1
The first two, iPhones, the second is an iPod touch, and the last? A major revision to the Apple iPad. As if things couldn’t get more exciting…

You know we had to do one… But now that we (and practically most of the human race) have got a unit in hand, what do we think? In the really short time we’ve had it:
* It’s definitely heavier than you’d think but too heavy. We carry around 4-7lb laptops all the time, so 1.5lbs doesn’t sound like much, but it’s definitely a decent amount of weight in such a thin package.
* The screen is gorgeous. It’s just as you’d expect — Apple’s best-in-the-business multitouch capacitive top layer with a great IPS LED-backlit display — we’re in love.
* The packaging, as you might have seen by now is pretty sparse, but it definitely has that Apple feel to it. Included in the box are the unit itself, USB cable, charger, and that’s it!
* We really can’t believe how much this thing flies and how much we’re liking it. You really, really have to pick one up yourself and try it out!
