'Shrek' kicks off the sure-to-be successful summer kid flick biz

It’s summertime (at least at the box office) and Shrek Forever After kicks off the season’s animated kid flicks. With the Shrek series having grossed over $1 billion domestically, the fourth, and likely final, installment in the popular series is destined to be one of the top-grossing films this summer season. How high it opens is another question. It will be buoyed by the 3-D component, but a little bloom may have worn off this rose considering it’s been three years since we’ve had the green ogre in our theaters. Not to mention that the last two weren’t nearly as beloved critically as the original.

R-rated comedy MacGruber has the inauspicious task of going up against Shrek. The film — financed by Relativity Media, produced by Rogue, and released by Universal Pictures (that’s a mouthful) — is unlikely to light any fires at the box office despite the popularity of the Saturday Night Live character on the sketch comedy show. Read on for my predictions.

Casey James: 'You don't always get the chance to do what you want to do'

American Idol contestants often say that you don't really get to know them by watching the show. If that has been true for anybody from Season 9, it has been especially true for Casey James, the guitar-wielding Texan who finished third. From the very start, Idol portrayed him as cougar bait, as eye candy for the women -- getting him to take off his shirt during his audition; playing up Kara DioGuardi's unseemly, apparent infatuation; and finally saddling him with a sentimental ballad in John Mayer's Daughters while telling him his audience was women and girls.

By forcing Casey into that persona, Idol lost the chance to showcase one of the most musically diverse performers the show has ever seen, someone whose background ranges from bluegrass to heavy metal. Now that he's finished with the competition, Casey seems ready to break out of the mold. I talked with him briefly Thursday afternoon as he was on his way to tape his appearance for Ellen.

Logitech's Google TV Box Will Have Special Powers

The unique thing about Logitech's Google TV box—the size of a squished Apple TV, rendered in glossy black plastic—is that it'll have the full powers of Logitech's Harmony remotes and ecosystem.

The box overall is pretty standard, with the back revealing a pair of USB ports—which could've saved today's presentation—IR blasters and HDMI in an out. Logitech wasn't showing off their "input device" just yet, but we did get to see their Harmony software remote for Android, which looks pretty decent.

Indeed, Google TV's already looking a lot like Android on the phone in one sense—different manufacturers will be doing totally different things with Google TV, trying to leverage whatever they do awesomely. In Logitech's case, it's tying all of your different home theater components together seamlessly, so their Google TV box will work perfectly with everything else you have, using their Harmony software. Sony's integrating theirs with their standard Internet TV software. With everybody creating their own implementation of Google TV, we'll have to see where it winds up—hopefully in a better place than Android, in terms of fragmentation.

iPad owners like screen, dislike lack of Flash

Survey results released Thursday show that iPad owners overall are satisfied with the device, but there is some discontent with its lack of support for the Adobe Flash player.

A survey by ChangeWave Research showed that the top dislike reported by new owners of the Apple tablet was "lack of Adobe Flash" (11 percent), followed by "Internet connectivity issues" (9 percent), and "poor screen visibility/keeping it clean" (9 percent).

As to what features respondents like about the iPad, 21 percent said "screen size and quality," followed by "ease of use" at 15 percent, the "overall size and weight" at 12 percent, and "portability" at 10 percent.

The survey shows the top dislike is the device's lack of support for Adobe's Flash player.

Lindsay Lohan: "My Father Had Someone" Steal My Passport

Lindsay Lohan says her estranged father Michael is behind her passport getting stolen in France.

"I always said my father had someone do it," the actress, 23, told UsMagazine.com via email Thursday afternoon.

A Los Angeles judge issued a bench warrant for Lohan's arrest after she skipped a court hearing in L.A. Thursday related to her 2007 DUI conviction. Bail is set at $100,000. She could face 180 days in jail, the prosecutor announced in court Thursday.

Lohan has been at the Cannes Film Festival, but her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, said that she may return by Friday afternoon. Lohan could be arrested at the airport.

Lindsay and Michael's relationship has gotten more contentious in recent months. After he stormed her apartment because he was worried she was on drugs (which she has denied) and to check on the welfare of 16-year-old Ali, Lindsay referred to him as her "ex-father."

Rain clarifies his radio scandal with Hyori for the first time

For the first time, singer Rain / Bi spoke up about the radio scandal between him and Lee Hyori on a TV broadcasting.

On an episode of KBS2 Happy Together 3 that was aired on the 20th, MC Yoo Jae Suk and Park Myung Soo had asked the King and Queen of K-pop, “Have any scandals surfaced because of you performed on stage together?”

To this, Hyori replied, “There was one because of a radio show.”

Rain added, “It’s an old story now, but at the time, I was at Hong Kong for my concert. I discovered later that the rumors spread because of an elementary kid who posted it on an online bulletin as a joke.”

Ethan Ruan denies leaving pregnant girlfriend & taking Esther Liu’s virginity

Rumors of Ethan Ruan’s future have been a topic in the entertainment pages for quite some time. He was reportedly working out a deal that would split his management contract between director Doze Niu and his modeling agency, but the actor has since denied such reports. More recently, his former manager Chen Xiao-Zhi accused him of breaking their contract, which he had signed at the age of 19. In addition to that, Ethan Ruan was alleged of abandoning his pregnant girlfriend in order to pursue his career. And that's not all; Chen now claims that the star had taken Esther Liu’s virginity back when they dated for half a year.

The current issue of Next magazine reported that Ethan Ruan once had a girlfriend by the name Yvonne. She was apparently pregnant when he decided to leave Taichung to pursue his career in Taipei. In response to the allegations, Ethan Ruan said, “I don’t know Yvonne at all, (I) don’t even know how to pronounce her name, or how to spell it phonetically, and don’t even know what she looks like.”

Analyst believes iPads outselling Macs

The iPad is such a hot commodity that, according to RBC Capital Markets analyst Mike Abramsky, U.S. sales of the slab-let have likely outpaced sales of Apple’s Mac computers. After a series of retail checks, which found most iPad retailers out of stock of the 3G model and very few Wi-Fi models left, Abramsky believes Apple is moving approximately 200,000 iPads a week versus 110,000 Macs. Abroad, where only recently customers were able to put in pre-orders, Abramsky believes Apple received orders for over 600,000 units. When all is said and done for calendar year 2010, the RBC analyst is predicting that Apple will have sold some 8,130,000 iPads. Not bad for gadget that costs, at the very least, $499. Could the iPad eat into Mac sales? Yes, to the tune of 25% according to the analyst. However, the drop in Mac sales didn’t diminish Abramsky’s price targets: $350/share with revenues of $59.7 billion for 2010. Yikes!

Does Froyo Make You Want to Get an Android Phone?

Since new iPhones have come out every summer for the past few years, June and July is a time when many, many cell contracts expire. Do Google's new Android OS features make you want to switch to their team?

Speaking as an iPhone 3G user not entirely in love with AT&T or Apple these days, Android is looking like a more and more attractive option. There are still a lot of issues holding me back from making the switch, however. I don't want to have to pay for apps I've already bought twice, for example, and switching platforms will make me do that. And I'm sort of trapped to Apple's ecosystem to a certain point with stuff like the Remote app controlling iTunes streaming to my stereo connected to an Airport Express.

Mikiko Yano denies dating Jaejoong

A few days ago a weekly magazine in Japan reported that TVXQ / DBSK / Tohoshinki’s Jaejoong was spotted on a date with Japanese model Mikiko Yano.

The two were reportedly seen wearing masks standing at a cross walk with arms locked looking to be enjoying each others company. A representative speaking for Jaejoong said, “He has only met Mikiko Yano once and it was in a group setting.” Mikiko Yano’s camp told the magazine that she and Jaejoong are just “friends.” Now it seems Mikiko herself is denying it as well.

Mikiko Yano recently added a entry to her blog stating that she was very surprised when she heard the rumor and that nothing happened. She also stated that there’s nothing to worry about. Mikiko also apologized for responding late as she was heading to Hawaii on the 17th when the rumor was first reported.

Doug Reinhardt Dating Miss USA Rima Fakih

Doug Reinhardt’s got a thing for leggy ladies with a knack for swinging on poles. The ex-Hills star — who called it quits with heiress Paris Hilton just last month — has been secretly hooking up with Miss USA Rima Fakih, celebrity informants squeal.

“They met through friends and have been talking and seeing each other. He flew to NYC to do press [for his new show, The Reinhardts: Family Comes First], but knew she would be here and they would get together,” a tipster told Us Weekly Thursday. “She’s flying to L.A. to see him next week. It’s very new, but they’re having a good time. She made him watch the Miss USA pageant. He isn’t jumping into anything. He’s enjoying everything he’s got going on right now.”

What Is Google TV?

Google TV was announced today. But what exactly is it? Give us two minutes.

It's a software platform...

You know how the Nexus One is a piece of hardware by HTC that runs Android, a piece of software by Google? That's how Google TV will work. At its heart, Google TV is a platform. It's software. Hardware makers will need to step up to use it in their devices.

...that Logitech, Sony and DISH will support...

Right now, there are three places we'll see Google TV: a set top box by Logitech, Sony televisions (and one Blu-ray player) and an upcoming DISH box. They all share the following common specs: An Atom (or better) processor, discrete GPU, HDMI-out, Bluetooth, IR (with a transmitting "blaster"), Wi-Fi, and Ethernet, all while supporting a keyboard and a pointing device, as well as more traditional remotes such as Logitech's Harmony universals. From what we understand, all of these products will be available at Best Buy in fall of 2010 (though it's possible DISH may be later).

What Is Froyo?

Google's out with Android 2.2—codename: Froyo—and so far we're impressed. But what is it, exactly?

It's a mobile platform...

Froyo (following Google's adorable alphabetized dessert naming convention) is the latest iteration of Android, Google's mobile operating system. Simple enough! If you bought an Android phone recently, Froyo's what it will eventually be running.

...with a slightly different look...

Aside from the nice touch of being greeted by an Android icon at start-up, Froyo users can also expect a new homescreen widget. There are some other minor aesthetic changes, and transitions and animations seem a bit smoother, but the user experience isn't all that different from using 2.1 on a Nexus One.

Jay Park wants you to name his fanclub

Every rising star needs an official fanclub, and it seems that Jay Park is no exception. Now that he has separated himself from 2PM, the singer-dancer (and soon-to-be actor) is musing over possible fanclub names for himself and is reaching out to his fans for help!

As we reported a few days ago, Jay got right to business with the creation of his Twitter and asked for suggestions regarding the official title of his fanclub. Since then, it seems that Jay will narrow the suggestions down to three, then let fans decide with a poll.

Michelle Ye Grabbed Jordan Chan's Family Jewels

Jordan Chan Stuffs Toilet Paper To Protect the Chan Hall

Jordan Chan Siu Chun and Dior Cheng Yi Kin after ten years worked together again on the Wise Guy film ONCE A GANGSTER (FEI SA FUNG JUNG SHUEN), which will open soon. In the film, Siu Chun had a scene in which his on screen wife Michelle Ye (Yip Shuen) grabbed his jewels and made him want to die. Yet off camera everyone was laughing and in the end it took more than three takes as Yip Shuen had to grab Little Siu Chun several more times.

Afterward, Siu Chun was asked about being grabbed, Siu Chun said, "Of course I had to find a big roll of toilet paper to protect my clan hall and boost morale! I still have to procreate, how can I if I let her hurt that! With such a big bag of tissues in the way, how I can feel anything." Yip Shuen honestly said that before hand she even made fun of Siu Chun for stuffing such a big pack of tissue in his pants. She joked, "It's so big that my hand couldn't grab it all."

Steve Jobs Is Not Impressed With Google's New Video Format

Google hopes to sidestep the entire HTML5 video debate with a new, open source, royalty free format called WebM. But will Apple ever support it? Judging by to the latest missive from Steve's iPad, things don't look great.

A Register reader sent a concise email to Jobs' public email address, which he often uses to respond to questions and inject his opinion into tech issues, semi-indirectly:

CE-Oh no he didn't!: Sony's Sir Howard says 'when you beat Apple, you're dominating'

Sony CEO Sir Howard Stringer has always been delightfully direct, and he didn't hold back at Google's I/O conference: talking about Sony Ericsson with Eric Schmidt during the Google TV launch, Sir Howard noted that the Xperia X10 is the best-selling handset in Japan, and that "when you beat Apple, you're dominating -- it's the new definition." Strong words from a gadget titan -- we'll leave it to you to debate their veracity.

HTC: Your 2010 Android smartphone will “likely” get FroYo

Have a new Android smartphone from HTC? Obsessing over whether or not it will get an official FroYo plus Sense UI update? Well fear not, because HTC has issued a statement to sooth your panic-stricken soul. Unfortunately, it’s so vague that it actually raises more questions than it answers. According to HTC:

[...] if your phone was launched this year, we will most likely offer an upgrade for it to the Froyo version. This includes popular models like the Desire and Droid Incredible as well as hotly anticipated phones like the Evo 4G, MyTouch slide and upcoming models. We will announce a full list of phones and dates once we are closer to launching the upgrades. We are working closely with Google and our other partners to ensure we have the earliest access to everything we need to provide a complete and solid Sense experience on Froyo. We expect to release all updates in the second half of this year but can’t be more specific yet.

Jen Aniston Asked to "Be Retouched" on New Film

At 41, Jennifer Aniston's age is starting to catch up with her.

When the actress recently watched the final cuts from her upcoming romantic comedy The Switch (out Aug. 20), "she thought she looked rough -- especially in the daytime scenes," a movie insider tells the new issue of Us Weekly, on stands now.

"She wanted them retouched further, but the studio had already spent its postproduction budget," continues the source. "The studio discussed making her foot the bill for any enhancements."

Though a rep for the star tells Us that "all films go through print adjustments, and this is no different from the rest,” the insider adds that Aniston was just as self-conscious during filming, often pulling her hair down to cover any facial lines.

Snipes the source, "She's starting to show her age."

Arrest Warrant Issued for Lindsay Lohan

A Los Angeles judge is finished with Lindsay Lohan's excuses.

Lohan, 23, pulled a no-show at her progress review hearing Thursday because as her attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, said in court, "Ms. Lohan's passport was stolen" at the Cannes Film Festival this week. "She filed a police report. She intended to fly back at the earliest possible time. I don't know what else to tell you. She had reservations for a flight," he added.

"There is no valid excuse [for Lohan not being here], Judge Marsha Revel countered. "If she wanted to be here, she could've been here. She could've come two days early from Cannes. She has a history of not keeping scheduled appointments."

The judge ordered an arrest warrant for Lohan and set bail at $100,000, although it remains unclear whether police would apprehend the starlet on sight after she arrives in L.A.

"It's a possibility," L.A. sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said. "If a person is recognized by law enforcement [as having an outstanding warrant], that person is subject to immediate arrest."

The Gloves Are Officially Off: Google Vs. Apple

At this morning’s I/O keynote Google’s Vic Gundotra unveiled all the neat features of the Android 2.2, Froyo, but the biggest elephant in the room was Apple and the increasing tensions between the two giants. Gundotra enjoyed several jabs at the iPhone maker, making fun of Apple for not supporting Flash, the relatively slow load time of the iPad, and for trying to control the mobile ecosystem. His opening remarks set the tone: Google doesn’t want a future where one man controls mobile. Hmm, whoever could that be?

Google was trying to articulate a clear message: Apple is closed, we are open. Gundotra must have said the word “open” at least a dozen times. This theme reemerged several times throughout the keynote, at one point, Gundotra turned to the audience and simply said: “It turns out, on the internet, people use Flash….Part of being open means you’re inclusive rather than exclusive.”

Google TV turns on at I/O: runs Android and Flash, partnered with Sony, Logitech, and Intel

As expected, Google just announced Google TV at I/O. There's four billion TV viewers worldwide, making it the biggest market in the world, and Google's after it in a big way -- it's a $70 billion ad market in the US alone, after all. According to Google, "video should be consumed on the biggest, best, and brightest screen in your house, and that's the TV." The idea is to merge the web and TV without compromising on either the web experience or the video experience, with a focus on discovery and personalization. Of course, since it's Google, the interface is search-driven, so you can just type in things like "30 Rock" or MSNBC" to find channels and content -- including upcoming content to record and content from the internet. Yeah, it's kind of like the TiVo Premiere's swivel search, but prettier -- and there's a Hulu logo on the screen, which is extremely intriguing.

Google's not sharing hardware specs, but we're told Google TV devices will have WiFi, HDMI, the Intel CE4100 processor, and... some will have an IR blaster to tune your cable or satellite box, which is just sad. (Like, 1997 sad.) The input devices will all have keyboards, and you'll also be able to use Android devices as a remote, including using voice search to find content and sending content from the phone to the TV. The software is based on Android with Chrome as the browser and full Flash 10.1 support. Since it's Android, there's a version of Android Market -- any app that doesn't require phone hardware can run on Google TV. There will also be a Google TV-specific Android SDK launching in "early" 2011, along with the Android Market for Google TV.

SNSD and 2PM release Caribbean Bay MV

After so much teasing in the past few weeks, I think all the SONES and Hottests including neutrals can’t wait any longer to watch the full music video, with anticipation building and building since it was announced that SNSD and 2PM were getting together for a CF for Caribbean Bay.

Well guess what, after releasing the full song earlier today together with some video snippets, the MV is finally out. Check out the heavy-laden idol drama fest involving the two hottest groups in Korea right now. It is based on the concept of “Who will be the hottest Cabi?” and shows the love story and hot passions of young individuals in a dramatic story. Can you handle the hotness of this video?

Super Junior sells over 100K albums for ‘Bona Mana’ in just 8 days

Super Junior is reported to have sold over 100K albums in just 8 days into their 4th album release.

According to internet music stores HanTeo chart, the A version has sold 95,359 copies as of 2oth May 11.30am since its release on 13th May. In addition, about 13,047 of the B version of the album released that day, which gives about 108,406 album sales for the group’s 4th album. The only difference between the A and B version albums is that the album jacket is different.

In recent 5 years, having sold over 100K albums for singers is considered ‘daebak’, hence achieving 100K album sales in just 8 days is definitely not an easy feat. The only 2 singers who are able to make the 100K album sales breakthrough this year are only So Nyeo Shi Dae and Super Junior.

Millennial Media: Android Ad Impressions Rise 77 Percent In April, iPhone Sees 8 Percent Drop

Mobile ad network Millennial Media, which claims that its mobile advertising network reaches 83 percent of 72 million mobile web users in the U.S., is reporting that Android ad requests grew 77% month over month, and have grown 282% since January. This growth is higher than the rise in impressions in March, which clocked in at 72%.

Although the Apple OS had a month-over-month decrease of 8% it still remained the leading OS on Millennial’s network in April with 62% share of Smartphone impressions. RIM’s BlackBerry remained the second largest OS on Millennial’s network for the ninth consecutive month with a 3% increase month-over-month and a 17% share of impressions. Android’s took a 10% share of impressions for the month of April.

Android Smartphone manufacturer, HTC, entered the top five this month for the first time and represented the largest increase within the Top 15 Manufacturers in April with a 2.5% impression share increase month-over-month. All Android devices, including the MyTouch (Magic), HTC G1 (Dream), G2 Touch (Hero), experienced month-over-month increases in impression shares. In terms of type of device, the majority of ad impressions took place on smart phones (45%), with Feature Phones seeing 35% of ad impressions, and Connected Devices, like the iPad, seeing 20% of impressions.

The Anti-Apple Coalition

The CEOs of Google, Sony, Adobe, Intel, Logitech, Best Buy, Dish stand (or rather, sit) together.

Best Buy and Logitech work with Apple, true, but are far tighter with other companies. Everybody else up there has a testy—if not downright cutthroat—relationship with Apple, to say the least. (And make no mistake: Nowadays, standing with Google is tantamount to standing against Apple.)

Usher regains No. 1 spot, Katy Perry debuts big on Billboard's Hot 100 chart

Eminem‘s reign at the top didn’t last long. After pushing Usher aside last week, his “Not Afraid” has fallen from No. 1 to No. 6 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 singles chart. Usher‘s “OMG”reclaims the crown at No.1.

Katy Perry first single from her forthcoming set, “California Gurls” featuring Snoop Dogg, made a big splash on the charts. Her West Coast anthem debuts at No. 2 this week. Songs like Miley Cyrus’ 2009 “Party in the U.S.A” and The Notorious B.I.G.’s 1997 smash “Hypnotize” have also accomplished the feat. Perry is the fourteenth to do so.

B.o.B has two consecutive cuts in the top 10. His latest single, “Airplanes,” featuring Hayley Williams, climbs from No. 5 to No. 3. While his once chart-topping “Nothin’ On You,” featuring Bruno Mars dropped from No. 3 to No. 4. Taio Cruz’s “Break Your Heart,” featuring Ludacris, backslides from No. 4 to No. 5.

Ke$ha‘s “Your Love Is My Drug” steps up a spot to No. 7. Lady Gaga’s “Alejandro” enters the top 10, moving from No. 11 to No. 7. This marks her seventh radio single in a row to reach the top 10.

Google Now Activating 100,000 Android Devices A Day — 50,000 Android Apps

Today at Google I/O Vic Gundotra made a big revelation. Last year, Google was activating 30,000 Android phones a day. The past February, that number jumped to 60,000. Today, Google is now activating over 100,000 Android phones a day.

Android was the second best-selling smartphone this quarter, Gundotra says. They are only behind RIM — and yes, ahead of that other rival. Gundotra also pointed out the stat from AdMob that Android was first in terms of web and app usage among smartphones.

And that’s not all. Gundotra also announced that there were now over 50,000 apps available for the platform. And there are some 180,000 developers working on the platform.

Android 2.2 'Froyo' beta hands-on: Flash 10.1, WiFi hotspots, and some killer benchmark scores

Much to our surprise at the time, when Adobe sent us a Flash 10.1-enabled Nexus One for testing, the phone came preloaded with a preview build of Android 2.2 -- a.k.a. "Froyo" -- the apparent turning point for curbing Android fragmentation due for a very public unveiling today at Google I/O. We've had a day or two to dig into it, and while we're surely missing some improvements here or there (Google was unable to provide us a changelog as of this writing), we've spent pretty much all our waking moments combing through every virtual nook and cranny. So what can Eclair alumni expect from the revised platform? Read on for more!

'Smallville': Allison Mack Back on The Last Season

I’ve got good news and bad news for fans of Smallville heroine Allison Mack. The actress has opted not to return as a series regular for the show’s 10th and final season. That’s the bad news. Here’s the good: You have not seen the last of Chloe — not by a long shot.

“It’s amazing to think that Chloe Sullivan and I have been one and the same for over a third of my life,” says Mack in an exclusive statement. “I’m truly humbled by the love and loyalty of all the fans whose enthusiasm has carried me — along with a cast and crew that has become my second family — over the past nine and a half years. Out of respect for the amazingly loyal fans and the place I will always have in my own heart for Chloe, I’m coming back for several episodes next season to tie up Chloe’s Smallville legacy properly.

“It’s been a life-changing ride,” Mack concludes, “and I look forward to what lies ahead with the strength of a ‘superhero’ as my foundation.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt “Sad And Depressed” Over Ghost Whisperer Cancellation

JENNIFER Love Hewitt is feeling down in the dumps following the cancellation of her hit TV show The Ghost Whisperer — insiders say.

The show was axed after five seasons as part of a sweep by bosses at CBS.

Jennifer, sources reveal, is feeling depressed about the situation because she likes to throw herself into her work when her love life isn’t going well.

The actress recently split from boyfriend Jamie Kennedy and new reports suggest her latest squeeze, John Asher, is using her for money.

“Jennifer just didn’t see it coming,” a source close to the actress said of the cancellation of Ghost Whisperer.

“That show was her life. She always threw herself into her work when she was feeling down about her love life.

Apple allows cash sales for iPad

When Apple first started selling the iPad, it didn't allow consumers to buy its tablet with cash. The idea, the reasoning went, was that forcing people to buy the iPad with a debit card or credit card would help ensure that no one violated Apple's two-iPads-per-person rule.

But all that has changed. Recently a California woman named Diane Campbell went to an Apple store in the hopes of buying an iPad with greenbacks. She was turned away by the store's employees, who cited the no-cash policy. After she contacted KGO, an ABC television affiliate in California, the news outlet ran a story on her ordeal. After hearing the story, in which Campbell asked Steve Jobs to "give a sister a break," Apple decided to reverse policy and allow cash customers.

"We want to make sure it's as fair as possible for people to get iPads," Ron Johnson, a senior vice president at Apple, told KGO, adding that the company decided to change its policy after hearing Campbell's story. He also had two Apple employees personally deliver an iPad to her house for free.

Android 2.2 SDK goes live, developers likely unable to crash Google's download server

Giving devs access to freshly-announced versions of mobile operating systems on the very same day that they're announced is pretty much the way things work nowadays -- the first version of Windows Phone 7 understandably excepted -- so we're pleased to see that Google's kit for Android 2.2 Froyo is now up and running. You start out by downloading a modest 18-odd megabyte package that just contains tools with no target platforms, then you open a separate app to pull and install only the platforms you want (you can go all the way back to version 1.5, if you're so inclined). So kick off that download now while you grab lunch -- we hear the lobster bisque they're serving in the cafeteria today is pretty good.

Susan Boyle On “Glee?”

Is everyone’s favorite Scottish spinster set for a visit to the halls of McKinley High? Glee creator Ryan Murphy has approached Susan Boyle’s “people” in hopes of snagging the “I Dreamed A Dream” crooner for a guest spot on the Emmy-winning TV musical.

And he already has the perfect role lined up for SuBo if she agrees: “(Susan), I have two words for you: ‘Lunch. Lady.’ I think (the character) Kurt would just die to give her a Christmas makeover. I don’t even know if she’s interested but it’s been pitched,” Murphy told Entertainment Weekly Wednesday.

Justin Frye and Kendra: Exposed!

Now that there's been cold, hard, naked confirmation that a Kendra Wilkinson sex tape exists, readers are bombarding us with two questions:

1. Who leaked the video?
2. Who is the dude in this photo really giving it to Kendra?

The answer, it turns out, is one and the same: Justin Frye.

In 2003, Frye and Wilkinson shared an apartment in San Diego. Shortly after the future Playboy model turned 18, she and Justin filmed the sex tape, which Kendra then left behind when she moved into Hugh Hefner's mansion.

Android 2.2 Froyo gets official

Google has finally announced Android 2.2 Froyo (in the second day of its I/O conference).

Google is presenting the features of Android 2.2 as we speak, but some of them have already been unveiled.

Android 2.2 Froyo comes with Adobe Flash 10.1 support, Microsoft Exchange integration, tethering and portable hotspot capabilities, enhanced voice recognition, and a faster web browser – actually, Google goes as far as saying that Froyo has “the world’s fastest mobile browser.”

Samsung i8920 Omnia HD2 leaked, Symbian^3, 12MP camera, Super AMOLED display?

The unannounced Samsung i8920 Omnia HD2 has just appeared on the Web, almost out of nowhere, and it looks like it’s running Nokia’s brand new Symbian^3 OS.

The i8920 seems to be an improved i8910 Omnia HD. Its rumored features are quite impressive, including: 4 inch Super AMOLED display, Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, 12MP autofocus camera with both Xenon and LED flash, HD video recording (720p) at 30fps, and 16/32 GB of internal memory.

The smartphone’s display resolution is not confirmed, but the aspect ratio suggests it’s 640 x 360 pixels. The photo below is reportedly showing the Omnia HD2, although it could be fake (the left side of the screen looks weird):

Google to launch Android Gingerbread in Q4 2010?

While the world is still waiting for Android 2.2 Froyo to be announced, Google is thinking ahead, and it looks like it has already scheduled the release of the next version of Android, codenamed Gingerbread.

According to the folks over at WebM (WebM being “an open, royalty-free, media file format designed for the web”), Android Gingerbread will be released in the fourth quarter of 2010.

AndroidSis has it that Gingerbread is Android OS version 3.0 – however, Google will probably launch one more iteration of the OS before 3.0 and after 2.2. Maybe Android 2.5 or Android 2.6, who knows?
