The iPad is such a hot commodity that, according to RBC Capital Markets analyst Mike Abramsky, U.S. sales of the slab-let have likely outpaced sales of Apple’s Mac computers. After a series of retail checks, which found most iPad retailers out of stock of the 3G model and very few Wi-Fi models left, Abramsky believes Apple is moving approximately 200,000 iPads a week versus 110,000 Macs. Abroad, where only recently customers were able to put in pre-orders, Abramsky believes Apple received orders for over 600,000 units. When all is said and done for calendar year 2010, the RBC analyst is predicting that Apple will have sold some 8,130,000 iPads. Not bad for gadget that costs, at the very least, $499. Could the iPad eat into Mac sales? Yes, to the tune of 25% according to the analyst. However, the drop in Mac sales didn’t diminish Abramsky’s price targets: $350/share with revenues of $59.7 billion for 2010. Yikes!

Since new iPhones have come out every summer for the past few years, June and July is a time when many, many cell contracts expire. Do Google's new Android OS features make you want to switch to their team?
Speaking as an iPhone 3G user not entirely in love with AT&T or Apple these days, Android is looking like a more and more attractive option. There are still a lot of issues holding me back from making the switch, however. I don't want to have to pay for apps I've already bought twice, for example, and switching platforms will make me do that. And I'm sort of trapped to Apple's ecosystem to a certain point with stuff like the Remote app controlling iTunes streaming to my stereo connected to an Airport Express.

Google TV was announced today. But what exactly is it? Give us two minutes.
It's a software platform...
You know how the Nexus One is a piece of hardware by HTC that runs Android, a piece of software by Google? That's how Google TV will work. At its heart, Google TV is a platform. It's software. Hardware makers will need to step up to use it in their devices.
...that Logitech, Sony and DISH will support...
Right now, there are three places we'll see Google TV: a set top box by Logitech, Sony televisions (and one Blu-ray player) and an upcoming DISH box. They all share the following common specs: An Atom (or better) processor, discrete GPU, HDMI-out, Bluetooth, IR (with a transmitting "blaster"), Wi-Fi, and Ethernet, all while supporting a keyboard and a pointing device, as well as more traditional remotes such as Logitech's Harmony universals. From what we understand, all of these products will be available at Best Buy in fall of 2010 (though it's possible DISH may be later).

Google's out with Android 2.2—codename: Froyo—and so far we're impressed. But what is it, exactly?
It's a mobile platform...
Froyo (following Google's adorable alphabetized dessert naming convention) is the latest iteration of Android, Google's mobile operating system. Simple enough! If you bought an Android phone recently, Froyo's what it will eventually be running.
...with a slightly different look...
Aside from the nice touch of being greeted by an Android icon at start-up, Froyo users can also expect a new homescreen widget. There are some other minor aesthetic changes, and transitions and animations seem a bit smoother, but the user experience isn't all that different from using 2.1 on a Nexus One.

Every rising star needs an official fanclub, and it seems that Jay Park is no exception. Now that he has separated himself from 2PM, the singer-dancer (and soon-to-be actor) is musing over possible fanclub names for himself and is reaching out to his fans for help!
As we reported a few days ago, Jay got right to business with the creation of his Twitter and asked for suggestions regarding the official title of his fanclub. Since then, it seems that Jay will narrow the suggestions down to three, then let fans decide with a poll.

Google hopes to sidestep the entire HTML5 video debate with a new, open source, royalty free format called WebM. But will Apple ever support it? Judging by to the latest missive from Steve's iPad, things don't look great.
A Register reader sent a concise email to Jobs' public email address, which he often uses to respond to questions and inject his opinion into tech issues, semi-indirectly:

Sony CEO Sir Howard Stringer has always been delightfully direct, and he didn't hold back at Google's I/O conference: talking about Sony Ericsson with Eric Schmidt during the Google TV launch, Sir Howard noted that the Xperia X10 is the best-selling handset in Japan, and that "when you beat Apple, you're dominating -- it's the new definition." Strong words from a gadget titan -- we'll leave it to you to debate their veracity.

Have a new Android smartphone from HTC? Obsessing over whether or not it will get an official FroYo plus Sense UI update? Well fear not, because HTC has issued a statement to sooth your panic-stricken soul. Unfortunately, it’s so vague that it actually raises more questions than it answers. According to HTC:
[...] if your phone was launched this year, we will most likely offer an upgrade for it to the Froyo version. This includes popular models like the Desire and Droid Incredible as well as hotly anticipated phones like the Evo 4G, MyTouch slide and upcoming models. We will announce a full list of phones and dates once we are closer to launching the upgrades. We are working closely with Google and our other partners to ensure we have the earliest access to everything we need to provide a complete and solid Sense experience on Froyo. We expect to release all updates in the second half of this year but can’t be more specific yet.

At this morning’s I/O keynote Google’s Vic Gundotra unveiled all the neat features of the Android 2.2, Froyo, but the biggest elephant in the room was Apple and the increasing tensions between the two giants. Gundotra enjoyed several jabs at the iPhone maker, making fun of Apple for not supporting Flash, the relatively slow load time of the iPad, and for trying to control the mobile ecosystem. His opening remarks set the tone: Google doesn’t want a future where one man controls mobile. Hmm, whoever could that be?
Google was trying to articulate a clear message: Apple is closed, we are open. Gundotra must have said the word “open” at least a dozen times. This theme reemerged several times throughout the keynote, at one point, Gundotra turned to the audience and simply said: “It turns out, on the internet, people use Flash….Part of being open means you’re inclusive rather than exclusive.”

As expected, Google just announced Google TV at I/O. There's four billion TV viewers worldwide, making it the biggest market in the world, and Google's after it in a big way -- it's a $70 billion ad market in the US alone, after all. According to Google, "video should be consumed on the biggest, best, and brightest screen in your house, and that's the TV." The idea is to merge the web and TV without compromising on either the web experience or the video experience, with a focus on discovery and personalization. Of course, since it's Google, the interface is search-driven, so you can just type in things like "30 Rock" or MSNBC" to find channels and content -- including upcoming content to record and content from the internet. Yeah, it's kind of like the TiVo Premiere's swivel search, but prettier -- and there's a Hulu logo on the screen, which is extremely intriguing.
Google's not sharing hardware specs, but we're told Google TV devices will have WiFi, HDMI, the Intel CE4100 processor, and... some will have an IR blaster to tune your cable or satellite box, which is just sad. (Like, 1997 sad.) The input devices will all have keyboards, and you'll also be able to use Android devices as a remote, including using voice search to find content and sending content from the phone to the TV. The software is based on Android with Chrome as the browser and full Flash 10.1 support. Since it's Android, there's a version of Android Market -- any app that doesn't require phone hardware can run on Google TV. There will also be a Google TV-specific Android SDK launching in "early" 2011, along with the Android Market for Google TV.

After so much teasing in the past few weeks, I think all the SONES and Hottests including neutrals can’t wait any longer to watch the full music video, with anticipation building and building since it was announced that SNSD and 2PM were getting together for a CF for Caribbean Bay.
Well guess what, after releasing the full song earlier today together with some video snippets, the MV is finally out. Check out the heavy-laden idol drama fest involving the two hottest groups in Korea right now. It is based on the concept of “Who will be the hottest Cabi?” and shows the love story and hot passions of young individuals in a dramatic story. Can you handle the hotness of this video?

The CEOs of Google, Sony, Adobe, Intel, Logitech, Best Buy, Dish stand (or rather, sit) together.
Best Buy and Logitech work with Apple, true, but are far tighter with other companies. Everybody else up there has a testy—if not downright cutthroat—relationship with Apple, to say the least. (And make no mistake: Nowadays, standing with Google is tantamount to standing against Apple.)

Today at Google I/O Vic Gundotra made a big revelation. Last year, Google was activating 30,000 Android phones a day. The past February, that number jumped to 60,000. Today, Google is now activating over 100,000 Android phones a day.
Android was the second best-selling smartphone this quarter, Gundotra says. They are only behind RIM — and yes, ahead of that other rival. Gundotra also pointed out the stat from AdMob that Android was first in terms of web and app usage among smartphones.
And that’s not all. Gundotra also announced that there were now over 50,000 apps available for the platform. And there are some 180,000 developers working on the platform.
Much to our surprise at the time, when Adobe sent us a Flash 10.1-enabled Nexus One for testing, the phone came preloaded with a preview build of Android 2.2 -- a.k.a. "Froyo" -- the apparent turning point for curbing Android fragmentation due for a very public unveiling today at Google I/O. We've had a day or two to dig into it, and while we're surely missing some improvements here or there (Google was unable to provide us a changelog as of this writing), we've spent pretty much all our waking moments combing through every virtual nook and cranny. So what can Eclair alumni expect from the revised platform? Read on for more!

Giving devs access to freshly-announced versions of mobile operating systems on the very same day that they're announced is pretty much the way things work nowadays -- the first version of Windows Phone 7 understandably excepted -- so we're pleased to see that Google's kit for Android 2.2 Froyo is now up and running. You start out by downloading a modest 18-odd megabyte package that just contains tools with no target platforms, then you open a separate app to pull and install only the platforms you want (you can go all the way back to version 1.5, if you're so inclined). So kick off that download now while you grab lunch -- we hear the lobster bisque they're serving in the cafeteria today is pretty good.
Now that there's been cold, hard, naked confirmation that a Kendra Wilkinson sex tape exists, readers are bombarding us with two questions:
1. Who leaked the video?
2. Who is the dude in this photo really giving it to Kendra?
The answer, it turns out, is one and the same: Justin Frye.
In 2003, Frye and Wilkinson shared an apartment in San Diego. Shortly after the future Playboy model turned 18, she and Justin filmed the sex tape, which Kendra then left behind when she moved into Hugh Hefner's mansion.
