Adam Lambert Goes 'Tongue Diving,' Makes Out With Two Fans In Concert

It's become common knowledge that Adam Lambert loves to make out with people onstage. While he usually reserves his tonsil hockeying for nationally-broadcast award shows, last night the singer made an exception, interrupting his performance at Lupos Heartbreak Hotel in Providence, RI, to kiss two fans, leaving the crowd screaming for more and Lambert's glittery black leather vest ripped open.

"TongueDiving is the new StageDiving. Get Into It," Lambert tweeted after the show, likely a nod to Lady Gaga's infamous crowd surfing antics at last week's Lollapalooza festival. In case you don't want to sit through the entire video below, the smooching occurs around 4:15 and again at 5:20. Enjoy!

Justin Bieber and Kanye West possibly to record together: Good idea?

Justin Bieber. Kanye West. Raekwon the Chef. Those might not be three names you ever expected to read in the same sentence. Thanks to Twitter, they seem to be well on their way to forming one of the strangest supergroups in recent memory.

MTV News has a good run-down of how the teen-pop whiz, the cutting-edge rap genius, and the rugged Wu-Tang Clan vet linked up. It all started when Kanye voiced his appreciation for Bieber’s “Runaway Love” on Twitter this past Sunday. Mr. Biebs was duly psyched about this shout-out, and said as much. “So bugged out me and @JustinBieber are tweeting at the same time,” West then reflected. “Social networking is pretty awesome.” West followed this thought with a boldly random suggestion: “Maybe we can do something together. Me, You and Raekwon.” Bieber’s reply: “me, u, and the chef 2gether on a song = EPIC. haha.”

Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse gets premature unveil

Last we heard, Microsoft’s Arc Touch Mouse was due sometime next month; that hasn’t stopped German retailer notebooksbilliger jumping the gun and putting up their product page. According to their details, the Arc Touch Mouse is a wireless peripheral that physically bends for comfortable mousing but flattens out for easier transportation. It has a large touch-scroll sensor – presumably the grey bar running between the buttons – for easier navigation.

Connectivity is via a 2.4GHz USB dongle, which stows in a compartment under the mouse during transportation. There’s also a battery indicator and physical power control, while the actual mousing is done by Microsoft’s Blue Track system which should make for some decent accuracy.

According to the retailer, the Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse will go on sale from October 13th priced at €69.99 ($90), in-line with what Apple are asking for the Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse in Germany. US pricing is expected to be $69.95.

Toshiba Libretto W100 sells out at Amazon

Just two days after officially going on sale in the UK via Amazon, the Toshiba Libretto W100 dual-screen ultraportable has sold out. Priced at $1,100 (for the W105-L251 model with no integrated 3G) and admittedly only available in “limited numbers”, the Libretto W100 obviously proved appealing to a subset of cash-rich users who liked the look of two 7-inch capacitive touchscreens.

Amazon are crediting “overwhelming demand” for the Libretto’s sell-out status, and saying that they’re not sure when – or even if – the ultraportable will come back into stock. Of course we don’t actually know exactly how many units Amazon had in-stock to begin with, but the W100 did manage to climb to number 29 in the retailer’s Top 100 of bestselling computer & electronics items.

For now, until we know whether Toshiba will be sending Amazon any more, the only way to find a W100 in the US is via importers. It’s an expensive route, though, with Japanese imports priced at $1,400+.

Cheer up loves! Moody Twilight stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart feeling gloomy after romantic weekend

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart looked glum to be returning from a long weekend in Montreal together when they flew into Los Angeles Airport last night.

The pair failed to crack even the tiniest smile - with Ms Stewart making an obscene hand gesture to greet onlookers instead.

The Twilight-starring couple - who are rarely photographed together - jetted into LAX with Stewart, 20, sporting a checked shirt that looked like one that her beau used to wear, along with trendy Rayban Wayfarer sunglasses, jeans and Converse sneakers.

London-born heartthrob Pattinson, 24, meanwhile followed closely behind, also wearing sunglasses in a vain bid to go incognito, along with a baseball cap, combat trousers, Adidas trainers and Bob Marley T-shirt.

Sandra Bullock on Jesse James: 'We Have Both Moved On'

Sandra Bullock is offering words of welcome as her ex-husband Jesse James prepares to move to her adopted hometown in Texas.

"I support Jesse in his move to Austin," the Oscar winner, 46, tells PEOPLE exclusively in this week's cover story. "We have both moved on with our lives and only want the best for each other. Anything else that is said on my behalf is inaccurate."

For Bullock, moving on includes finalizing her adoption of 8-month-old son Louis on Aug. 13 surrounded by friends and her sister Gesine in a New Orleans courtroom. "She is so in love with her child," says a source.

As for motorcycle CEO James, 41 – who recently stepped out in Las Vegas with LA Ink star Kat Von D. – he too is starting to move on in the wake of the cheating scandal that led to his June divorce from Bullock, according to a James source.

"I think he's starting to grasp reality a bit more," says the source, "and the realization that it's going to take a lot longer and a lot more than he thought to bring things back to what they were."

Apple really is becoming Microsoft...

If you’re looking for another datacenter commentary for today, this isn’t it, because this is completely off topic. But my experience at the Apple store today just really merited some comment.

I found myself at the not-too-local Apple store this morning, taking my 19 year old daughter to get her iPhone 3GS serviced. She had been on vacation last week and her 9 month old phone suddenly decided that the battery would last for only an hour or two, at best. She called me and I told her to just make an appointment at the local Apple store (less than 20 minutes from where she was vacationing) and that they should swap her phone for a refurb again (her first phone suffered a major failure less than two weeks after she received it).

She handed her phone to the Genius at the Apple Bar and after running diagnostics, they reset the phone to factory defaults and upgraded her to the latest dot release of iOS 4 and told her the problem was solved. If it happened again, she should go to any Apple store and they would happily replace the phone. Since they had not told her they were going to reset the phone, she was fortunate that she had her notebook with her and was able to restore her applications, and most importantly, her contacts.

Google boss Eric Schmidt warns on social use of media

Young people may have one day have to change their names in order to escape their previous online activity, Google boss Eric Schmidt has warned.

Mr Schmidt told the Wall Street Journal he feared they did not understand the consequences of having so much personal information about them online.

The firm has been busy bolstering its social networking presence recently.

Google has acquired Slide and Zynga, two firms specialising in games and apps for social networks.

Many believe the acquisitions are a sign that the search giant is about to launch another social network. Some commentators have already given the rumoured product a name: Google.me.

It already owns two other social networks; Google Buzz, launched in February 2010 and its first foray known as Orkut.

Buzz proved controversial when it linked up with people's Gmail accounts without asking their consent, meaning that their contacts were publicly visible.

Is Kelly Brook stripping off a bit too often? Now she poses nude for Love magazine as she embraces her 'naked month'

Kelly Brook is definitely a woman who knows how to flaunt and fully embrace her bankable assets.

So, as she continues to embark on what she has described as her 'naked month', she has shed her clothes once again.

This time she has posed nude for Love magazine with nothing more than a fluffy shawl protecting what is left of her modesty.

And the shoot for the magazine - which is out next Monday - follows her nude pictures for Playboy magazine, her shedding her clothes in her new film Piranha 3D and baring all for a billboard advert for Reebok trainers.

And she's certainly not shy about getting her kit off, after she today described August as being her 'naked month' and she is fully embracing her nudity.

In Piranha 3D - which is released tomorrow - Kelly gets naked and has a steamy moment underwater in the nude.

Anyone going to bite on this deal?

Justin Long jailbreaks his iPhone like a PC guy (video)

With his contract to Apple now a thing of the past, we guess Justin Long's not the smug, overconsuming Mac archetype we'd always assumed. We've gotta give credit to a man who sticks it to his former employer by busting out of the walled garden as demonstrated by the Cydia icon's appearance on Long's iPhone during a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live. Then again, jailbreakme made the process so easy even a hollywood actor could do it, so who knows.

Video embedded after the break. Skip ahead to the 7:04 mark for the evidence.

A theory has emerged in comments that the show's producer, not Justin, is responsible for the jailbreak. The idea is supported by the fact that Cydia and the TVOutTuner apps are sitting in what would typically be the most recently installed app positions (assuming all other screens are full), with the latter app required to mirror the iPhone's display on that big monitor.

Samsung, it turns out, knows how to make a white Galaxy S

That rumored white Galaxy S for Europe is looking closer to reality now that Samsung has announced a "Snow White" version of the M110S -- the particular flavor of the burgeoning Galaxy S series that it sells in its own backyard of South Korea. Notably, this puppy lacks the white bezel we'd seen in the European rumor, but regardless, it's still a whole lot paler than any version we've seen launch thus far. No word yet on what sort of space-age materials, science, and technology went in to getting this thing manufactured as of press time; if your interest is sufficiently piqued, SKT is the carrier you're going to want to hit up.

Aaron Kwok says no to cohabitation

Hong Kong actor Aaron Kwok has denied rumours that model-turned-actress Lynn Hung was cohabiting with him because he refused to marry her, reported Chinese media.

The 44-year-old star who graced the opening of a fitness centre in Hong Kong's Mong Kok district on Tuesday revealed that he was dead against cohabitation.

"Don't believe these rumours and fabrications. There is no rejection of marriage or cohabiting. I have not read all the reports but I find it laughable," said Kwok.

"I object to cohabitation. I am just not of that character. I am more traditional. Unless it is after marriage, I won't engage in cohabitation."

When asked if his rumoured girlfriend, Hung, was also a lady with very traditional views, Kwok ducked the question and brought the attention back to the opening.

Kwok's attendance at the opening lent a lot of star power to the event.

The road in front of the fitness centre was closed for four hours to accommodate Kwok's appearance.

ATV’s “The Men of Justice” Win Critical Acclaim Despite Poor Ratings

ATV is currently broadcasting The Men of Justice <法網群英>, created and produced by the Gary Tang Tak Hei. The cast includes Lawrence Ng Kai Wah, Amy Chen Sau Man, Kenneth Chan Kai Tai, Pinky Cheung, Jacky Lui Chung Yin, and William So Wing Hong. Since its broadcast, The Men of Justice has averaged five to six points in ratings. Although the series has helped ATV double its normal ratings performance, which is considered good results for the station. Many Internet users in online forums have praised the series for its courage and the professional manner in which the court scenes were written.

Incorporating several controversial cases, The Men of Justice focuses on the perpetual conflict between law enforcement and criminal activities. The series incorporates elements from current events that the audience is familiar with. It also includes a battle-of-wits little-known outside the court system, such as how to skillfully use legal procedures, and how to choose members of the jury for important cases. Interspersed between the development of the characters’ relationships are the legal cases, which include: a medical malpractice case; corruption within the police force; a witness failing to help a traffic accident victim, which ultimately led to the person’s death; the death of a wealthy tycoon and the subsequent dispute over his will.

Angelina Jolie wows French fans in daringly low cut dress at Paris premiere of Salt

When embarking on a worldwide promotional movie tour, it can be difficult to come up with the right outfits to wear on the red carpet.

But after an unusual dress choice at the London premiere, Angelina Jolie definitely went for the wow factor as she arrived at the premiere of Salt in Paris, France, wearing a daringly low cut dress.

The 35-year-old actress looked stunning in the white sparkly Pamella Roland dress, which she teamed with satin Salvatore Ferragamo heels and a chic up do, as she greeted fans at the event.

The outfit made the most of Angelina's figure and highlighted her tiny waist - something the Amanda Wakeley gown she chose for the London premiere failed to do.

Jolie is currently on a European tour to promote the new thriller, in which she plays CIA Agent Evelyn Salt.

Jennifer Aniston: Bill O'Reilly's "Rude" Comment Caught Me Off-Guard

Call us crazy, but we think Jennifer Aniston should go on Bill O'Reilly's show to debate the Fox News commentator.

It all started last week when O'Reilly slammed Aniston for saying a woman doesn't need a man to have a baby...

In her first broadcast interview since the controversy erupted, airing tonight at 7 and 11:30 p.m. on E! News, Aniston tells our pal Jason Kennedy that she was "caught off guard as anybody would be in hearing such a rude sort of comment towards you and other women."

The Switch star also said, "I think people like that must not know any better, because if they heard how they sounded I'm sure they wouldn't…speak that way."

Shortly after O'Reilly made his initial statement, Aniston shot back by saying she was "glad science has provided a few other options" for women who haven't "found their Bill O'Reilly."

Now we want to hear from you: Should Jen go face-to-face with the outspoken news commentator? Leave your comments below.

Apple Won’t Change iPhone’s Antenna for Verizon Release, Expert Claims

There’s still a debate about an iPhone launching on Verizon’s network some time next year. Some believe that it will launch as early as January, while analysts believe that it will be some time later in the first quarter of 2011. And, while rumors of Verizon obtaining the legendary Apple manufactured have popped up and died down over the years, there’s something about next year that definitely feels . . . Different. But, with the recent plague of “antennagate” issues swarming Apple since the launch of the iPhone 4, there’s been one question on people’s minds. If Verizon does get the iPhone, will Apple fix the antenna? In one expert’s eyes, that’s not going to happen.

Spencer Webb is the president of AntennaSys, with at least a dozen patents to his name, and he’s also an antenna engineer. He was one of the names out there that claimed Apple’s redesigned antenna was both “bold” and “risky,” but he also says that the design of the antenna is architecturally fixed, and therefore Apple should see no reason to fix it. He also points out that any fix that Apple would want to do would take time, and would fly in the face of the company’s tried-and-true method of sticking with one design for their phone for a period of years, not months. The expectation is that Apple is going to keep this antenna design, this general phone design, for the years to come, until a heavy redesign (as we saw between the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4) happens again, years from now.

ComScore search share now eyes 'core' search

ComScore has changed the way it measures market share in the search industry after deciding efforts to game the system had gone too far.

The new methodology was released this week to financial analysts, and Search Engine Land has a detailed Q&A with ComScore on the new methods. The company now differentiates between "explicit core search," defined as "user engagement with a search service with the intent to retrieve search results," and "core search," basically everything else.

That means ComScore is now measuring different numbers for what most people would probably consider traditional search--typing a query into a search bar--and newer ways of integrating search results with news, photo galleries, and the like. Both Yahoo and Microsoft have been criticized for treating photo slideshows as "searches."

Changes aside, the new "explicit core search" numbers don't really change much of the dynamic in the search market. Google continues to rule the roost with 65.8 percent of the search market in July, although down slightly from June. Yahoo, despite receiving much of the criticism for gaming search results with slideshows, increased its share using the traditional definition from 16.7 percent in June to 17.1 percent in July.

Lady Gaga's Next Album Will Be 'Shocking,' Producer RedOne Says

'That's part of my job and her job — to keep her evolving,' he tells Billboard.

Hot on the heels of Lady Gaga's confident pronouncement that her upcoming album is the "absolute greatest work I've ever done," "utter liberation" and an "anthem for my generation for the next decade" comes echoing praise from a reliable — if slightly biased — source: her producer RedOne.

"It's going to be shocking, shocking, shocking!" the Moroccan/Swedish master mixer behind "Just Dance," "LoveGame," "Poker Face," "Bad Romance" and "Alejandro" told Billboard of Gaga's new music. "You never want to go too far from your brand — people love you for a reason. But we still want to give them something with a kick, something that makes them say, 'Oh my God! We didn't expect this!' "

RedOne (real name: Nadir Khayat) said a big part of his job and future collaborations with Gaga are about evolution. "When you heard 'Bad Romance' after 'Poker Face,' it was like the best thing you've ever heard," he said. "We want that type of reaction. I think that's part of my job and her job — to keep her evolving."

Chrome Web Store coming in October?

Google's Chrome Web Store could be ready to launch by October of this year, suggesting that Chrome OS devices are likely on a similar schedule.

Google appears to be getting ready to let Web application developers start playing around with its Chrome Web Store, if a recent presentation at the Game Developer Conference in Europe is any indication. 1UP.com has a report out with pictures and video of Google's Mark DeLoura and Michael Mahemoff explaining how developers will be able to submit apps to the store, which was announced in May at Google I/O.

Most of the presentation was discussed during Google I/O, but a few interesting tidbits have emerged. Most importantly, it suggests that the Chrome Web Store will be ready to go in October of this year, implying that Chrome OS-based devices could be ready to go the same month. The only timing Google has provided to date about the launch plans for Chrome OS Netbooks has been "late fall."

Ease the migration to Windows 7

Met with widespread acceptance in both the retail and enterprise sectors, Microsoft’s Windows 7 has sold more than 150 million copies so far. These sales have surpassed Vista, making Windows 7 the fastest selling operating system in history with seven copies of Windows 7 sold every second. Some analysts are predicting that its acceptance will exceed that of Windows XP, but the majority of enterprises are still on the sidelines developing their plans for migration.

With a number of new features, the move to Windows 7 will require IT administrators to check each computer to see if they need additional RAM or other upgrades to accommodate the new OS. It can be a difficult and time consuming project that requires extensive planning and budgeting.

Now, IT executives are working to figure out how to effectively migrate their machines from XP to Windows 7. While there is no silver bullet or secret sauce in upgrading an enterprise, there are clear and straightforward steps for a positive experience in migrating to Windows 7.

Sony has come clean with the news about two new PlayStation 3 Slim capacity options - one of which is now available.

Verizon fall roadmap leaked: 10 MP Android, BlackBerry Storm 3 and Curve 3, tablets and more

Since the summer is nearing its end, it’s only natural that Verizon’s roadmap for September, October and November would be leaked.

After all, we’ve gotten used to knowing all there is about the Big Red’s upcoming launches months before they happen.

So here’s what Verizon has in store for us this fall.

In September, the Motorola Droid 2 World Edition will make its debut. We’ve heard about this device yesterday, and now we seem to have a release time frame. This is the version of the Droid 2 that has support for both CDMA and GSM, making it a ‘global roaming’ phone.

Also in September, the Motorola WX445 Citrus will be made official, this is a youth-oriented Android-powered phone that we’ve seen once before, and will probably be appealing to those on a tight budget.

Some new featurephones will make their way to Verizon in September as well. They are the LG Octane VN530 (touchscreen), the LG VN270 (which may be a replacement for the LG Cosmos), the Pantech Crux and the ZTE Salute. All of these will be competing primarily on price, and not fancy features.

Witness: Jesse James and Kat Von D "Shared a Passionate Kiss"

Has Jesse James found romance again -- with another tattooed woman?

In Las Vegas On Sunday, the motorcycle mogul checked out "BODIES: The Exhibition" at the Luxor Hotel & Casino. His companion: Kat von D, the tattoo artist and star of TLC's L.A. Ink.

The twosome were "holding hands the whole time" during their visit, an eyewitness tells UsMagazine.com -- and more.

The observer says that James, 41, and von D, 28, "shared a passionate kiss" while checking out the "circulatory room" of the exhibit. Says the witness: James "stood behind her and was hugging her from behind."

Von D (real name: Katherine von Drachenberg) evidently had a great time. Before exiting the gift shop, she signed the guest book, writing, "Completely mind-blowing!"

Despite this and other reported sightings of the affectionate pair in Vegas and West Hollywood over the weekend, von D's rep tells Us, "They're just friends -- that's all."

James' five-year marriage to Sandra Bullock famously imploded after his affair with Michelle "Bombshell" McGee, a tattooed stripper, came to light.

Back in May, Kat defended McGee and other tattooed women to Us. "You can't judge a book by its cover," she told Us at a May 1 event in Beverly Hills. "I think there has always been a negative stigma surrounding tattoos, especially on women," continued the reality star, who recently split from Motley Crue rocker Nikki Sixx.

Ke$ha looks like she's found a new love drug as she steps out with her Australian drummer boy

Bad girl popster Ke$ha looks like she may be ready to hang up her party shoes and settle down in the near future.

The singer/songwriter is dating 28-year-old Australian drummer, Alex Carapetis and by the looks of things it appears to be going very well.

The 23-year-old was out with Carapetis yesterday in New York and couldn't stop grinning, looking every bit the young lady in love.

The couple were first spotted getting cosy togther at the Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago at the beginning of August.

'They wouldn’t stop making out! They have natural chemistry and are always laughing,' a source told E! News.

And things are already getting serious, according to the source, with Carapetis relocating from his homeland to Los Angeles to further the romance.

Hopefully this time round it will be different for the singer, who has claimed to have beeen unlucky in love in the past.

Covered in gobs of fake blood, Paquin, her real-life fiance Moyer and Skaarsgard get completely naked -- and reveal secrets from the HBO smash -- for the mag.

Moyer offers up an elaborate theory on what makes vampires -- from True Blood, the Twilight Saga and elsewhere -- so attractive.

"If we go from a base level, vampires create a hole in the neck where there wasn't one before," the actor says. "It's a de-virginization...creating blood and then drinking the virginal blood. And there's something sharp, the fang, which is probing and penetrating and moving into it. So that's pretty sexy."

He adds, laughing: "Plus, Robert Pattinson is just hot, right?"

Apple Reportedly Testing Proximity-Aware iPhone Prototypes

Apple's recent hiring of Benjamin Vigier, an expert in near field communications, led many to wonder if the next iPhone could also be our next wallet. According to TechCrunch, Apple's already testing prototypes of just such a proximity-aware iPhone.

According to TechCrunch's sources, Apple's testing contactless payment-capable iPhones equipped with hardware from NXP Semiconductor, suggesting that such functionality is definitely something they're working on for inclusion in the next iPhone.

In addition to contactless payment, which is kind of cool, TC points to patents that suggest Apple's interests in using near field wireless for transferring files from device to device—say videos shot on an iPhone to a new AppleTV—which would be very cool.

The BlackBerry Torch's Biggest Failure: RIM's Ridiculous Expectations

The BlackBerry Torch only sold 150,000 units in its first three days? That's not bad at all. The real disappointment here is how deeply RIM bought into its own hype.

The hordes are proclaiming the Torch a massive failure, and they're right—but not because of how many units they sold. 150,000 handsets is a lot of phones. In fact, it's totally in line with other major launches of the last couple of years: Sprint sold that many Evo 4Gs in its first three days, and it's three times as many as the Palm Pre managed at launch.

Who it didn't compete with, of course, is the iPhone. The 3GS and 3G both moved a million over their opening weekends, and 1.7 million people took home an iPhone 4 at launch. And that's where RIM got into trouble.

BoA’s tattoo garners interests. Netizens, “I want one too”

BoA’s ‘angel’ tattoo garners interests.

BoA attended the commemorative event for the 2oth year since establishment for SBS on 16th August at 7pm, and a tattoo on her back was revealed. At the event, BoA was seen with a tube jumper showing off her shoulder-line as well as her back. And many fans have pointed out the new tattoo with the letter ‘B’ on her back.

The tattoo is not just purely an alphabet but within the alphabet is a picture of an angel. With that, many netizens commented, “The tattoo is really pretty. I also want to do the same one”, “It’s not very common to have a tattoo on the back, and I like it” etc. It is known that BoA had gotten the tattoo during her activities in the States.

LG to bank heavily on Windows Phone 7, says WP7 will outperform Android

LG wants to be a big player in the smartphone market, but it seems to me that the company has quite confusing plans about how to accomplish that.

In early 2009, the South Koreans said they would introduce about 20 Windows Mobile smartphones that year. They didn’t. They only released a few WM devices, like the GM730 / GM750, the GW550 and the GW820 eXpo.

Then came the Android craze and, for some reason, LG didn’t bet on Google’s platform as much as Samsung, HTC, Motorola and other companies did. The only two LG Android handsets available now at a global scale are the GW620 and the GT540 Optimus. There are also the Verizon-excusive LG Ally, and some Optimus handsets launched in Korea – but I don’t think these count too much.

Not long ago, LG announced new Optimus phones and a tablet, all running Android (Froyo) and ready to hit international markets.

We’ve also heard that LG intends to ship 6 million smartphones by the end of 2010, 70% of which will be powered by Android, with the rest of them running Windows Phone 7.

Kim Kardashian: I Don't Need to Be "Stick-Skinny" to Be a "Sex Symbol"

Kim Kardashian is almost ready to be a mom.

"In five years I would hope to be settled down, have a baby or two," the E! reality star, 29, tells the September issue of Allure. "I always thought, 'For sure, when I'm 30, I'll have four kids, like my mom." See more photos of Kim's Allure photo shoot.

Mom Kris is also raising Kourtney, 31, Khloe, 26 and Rob, 23, with the late Robert Kardashian. She and Bruce Jenner have two daughters: Kendall, 14, and Kylie, 12.

But Kim only plans to breastfeed for six months. (She set off a firestorm on UsMagazine.com -- receiving more than 550 angry comments -- when she Twittered "EWW I'm at lunch, the woman at the table next 2 me is breast feeding her baby w no coverup.")

Chromium Hits Version 7 As The Chrome Train Keeps Speeding Along

It looks like Google wasn’t lying when they said they planned to more rapidly iterate their Chrome web browser. Today brought the initial release of version 7 of Chromium, the open source browser that Chrome is based on. If all goes as planned, this latest iteration should begin to trickle into the Chrome stream in just a few weeks.

It wasn’t even a week ago that version 6 of Chrome hit the beta stage. While the stable build of Chrome is still stuck on version 5 (5.0.375.126, to be exact), given the rate at which Google is refreshing the beta channel (just about daily), you can probably expect 6 to go stable shortly. Once that happens, builds of version 7 should start making their way into the dev branch of Chrome.

Google, Verizon warned not to "cable-ize" the Internet

Four influential members of Congress, fed up with the Google/Verizon “industry-centered net neutrality policy framework,” are now demanding that the government act in the public interest to enforce real network neutrality.

More specifically, they want the FCC to act. Even though passing legislation through Congress would be cleaner and less legally fraught than implementing new rules at the FCC, current political realities make that impossible. It's up to the FCC to git-er-done.

Cable-izing the Internet

The new letter (PDF) comes from four members of the House Energy and Commerce committee, Ed Markey (D-MA), Mike Doyle (D-PA), Jay Inslee (D-WA), and Anna Eshoo (D-CA). None of them makes even a token positive reference to the Google/Verizon proposal, which would provide a few limited neutrality protections to wireline Internet service while creating huge exceptions (and leaving wireless service free to discriminate completely).
