Hugh Jackman has pulled out of a new chick flick to concentrate on bulking up for the next Wolverine blockbuster.
Last spring, the Australian screen star signed on to play an unemployed car dealer who becomes Avon’s top selling door-to-door rep in the Avon Man. However, this week, Jackman pulled out of the project — which was due to start filming later this year — and will instead focus on preparing to reprise his role as a muscled mutant in the sequel to 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Deadline.com has learned.
Producers are in the process of scrambling to cast Hugh’s replacement. Jackman hasn’t wiped his hands of the project just yet — he will remain on tap as one of the film’s producers..

Nokia N9

Remember this scandalous little leak from back in June? It looks to have been validated today, as imagery of Nokia's MeeGo (or is it Symbian^4?)-powered N9 QWERTY slider has emerged over in China. As usual with these things, we can't be certain that this device is in fact part of Nokia's roadmap and not just another creative hardware emulation, but it sure seems to have our old buddy Eldar Murtazin convinced. Seeing it with clear N9 branding, we can now say that the previously unknown Nokia slider was more likely the N8-01, a keyboard-equipped version of the (still) upcoming N8. The source of this N9 leak reports that it's not in its final retail shape, as it doesn't match up to "the latest drawings," but is apparently planned for a release in the 48th week (i.e. beginning of December) of this year. The prototype, built in Finland, is said to have an entirely metallic construction (more aluminum would be our guess), with only the keyboard buttons, USB cover, and a few decorative parts being plastic. See more of it, including a thorough teardown below.

And now the cycle is complete. What started as a single mention on a leaked slide has slowly evolved into a full-blown video preview of Nokia's unannounced C7 handset. The cats at the Chinese site zol.com.cn took the time to fuss over the Symbian^3 candybar's stereo speakers, 3.5-inch multitouch display, support for Flash banner ads (presumably via Flash Lite 4.0 like the flagship N8), and the ability to charge off Micro USB or Nokia 2-mm connectors (also like the N8). It's also demonstrated to easily handle a 720p H.264 video file at 2.7Mbps. Without giving reason as to why, the handler speculates that we might see the C7 launch before Nokia's own N8 finally makes it to retail. Click on through to see a fairly extensive preview replete with a soothing Chinese narration.

Samsung Epic 4G

If you own a Galaxy S anywhere in the world or you're thinking of buying one, you're probably well-acquainted at this point with the GPS issues it's been suffering that prevent you from getting anything close to a precise lock on your location -- it might not be a deal-breaker for some, but for anyone planning on using their phone for turn-by-turn nav or fitness tracking (for instance) it's a big deal. Samsung's already committed to updating released versions of the phone in September, but what about the upcoming Epic 4G? Our testing suggests that it's functional -- Google Maps was able to give us extremely precise positions very quickly -- and a statement we've received from Samsung seems to corroborate that:
"We have tested and validated both Network Assisted (indoor) and Autonomous (outdoor) GPS on the Epic 4G. With regards to Vibrant and Captivate, we are currently testing software updates which will optimize GPS performance. We expect to be able to make the updates available in September and will communicate more information and download instructions in the next few weeks."

Opting for an active lifestyle over fad diets, she admits: “I’m like a jackrabbit throughout the day and like to keep moving whenever I can.” Instead of depriving herself of caloric sweets, she makes compromises. “More flights of stairs means I can eat more candy!” And when Bell isn’t playing board games with fiancé Dax Shepard, she can be found planting vegetables in her organic garden or getting crafty at home. “I love to do projects around the house,” she explains. “I have a very old sewing machine, and if I spot something I like in a magazine, I want to see if I can make it.” To hear more from Kristen, pick up the September issue of Shape or visit Shape.com for a behind the scenes look at her cover shoot.

The leaks of the Nokia C7 are ramping up, so it may be safe to say that it will get announced during Nokia World in September.
We’ve first seen the C7 about two months ago, with the leak of some pictures of its black variant. Then, an XML file on Nokia’s own website confirmed its existence and impending release. Not long ago, an ad for it showed up somewhere in Hong Kong.
And now we have a full hands-on photo session with the Nokia C7 in China.
The phone will have a 3.5″ capacitive touchscreen (we’ve heard it both ways on this – there’s also the possibility it will be 3.3″), run Symbian^3 like its bigger brother, the N8, and come with an 8 MP autofocus camera with dual LED flash but, rather surprisingly, sans Carl Zeiss branding. That probably shows that this handset will be priced well below the aforementioned N8.

Motorola Charm
,

T-Mobile USA just dropped the knowledge on Twitter that it'll be carrying the Motorola Charm starting next Wednesday, August 25 -- but what it failed to mention is pricing. For what it's worth, the company does specifically say that it'll be "affordable" -- and although a marketing department's definition of "affordable" can be very different from ours, we're encouraged by a handful of previous rumors that there would be ways to get it for free on contract. If you need us to jog your memory, the Charm is a cute little portrait QWERTY Android device with a Kodak-branded 3 megapixel cam and landscape display, giving it a rare form factor that could very well appeal to a whole new audience (read: BlackBerry folks). So, how much would you pay for it?
Turns out Moto's posted on its official Facebook page that it'll run $74.99 on contract -- not free, unfortunately, and in the age of free Pixi Pluses, that might be a tough pill to swallow. We've also been handed a video of Telus demonstrating its version of the Charm, which should look and work exactly the same -- check it out after the break.

Sprint’s version of the Samsung Galaxy S, the Epic 4G, is getting closer and closer to being available for everyone to buy.
Devices earmarked for product advocates have started to show up at Sprint retail locations yesterday. Product advocates are those guys that are supposed to know all there is to about a device so they can convince you it’s the right one for your needs. So it makes sense that they’d get actual Epic 4G smartphones to play with a little while before general availability.
So you can be quite sure at this point that your Sprint store does have a Samsung Epic 4G in there somewhere, it’s just not for sale.

Kim Hyun Joong made a joke during the filming that while he had 3 trustworthy friends in Boys Over Flowers, he only has Jung So Min who tags onto him like a dog in his new drama, and admits he is feeling much pressure to do well but he also expressed that he is hopeful of a good showing.

This year’s holiday movie season just got a double whammy of star power. Sony Pictures confirms to EW that The Tourist, an international thriller starring Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie, will hit theaters on Dec. 10, 2010. About an American tourist (Depp) in Europe who gets swept up in the life of a spy (Jolie), the film will go up against the Mark Wahlberg/Christian Bale boxing drama The Fighter, and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
We've been waiting on pins and needles for Google to announce some official Android tablet plans for so long we'd almost forgotten about Mountain View's other operating system -- but from what we're hearing, Chrome OS is about to jump to center stage with a tablet debut on Verizon just before the holidays. Our friends at Download Squad are told by a reliable tipster that HTC is building a Tegra 2-based Chrome OS tablet for Google with a 1280 x 720 multitouch display, 2GB of RAM, at least 32GB of storage with the possibility of expansion, GPS, a webcam, and the usual wireless connectivity, including a 3G radio. Launch is pegged for Black Friday on November 26, and apparently the plan is to offer the device for extremely cheap or free on subsidy, which makes sense -- it is just a browser, after all, and "free" sounds mighty nice compared to the iPad's $499 entry point. (Of course, you'll undoubtedly be tied to a Verizon contract, but we'll just let that slide for now.) We'll see how much of this comes true in the next few months -- we're certainly intrigued.
