Siobhan Magnus Wins The Judges Back With 'Any Man Of Mine'

A painter. A student. A glass blower. A mother. A father. A guitarist. An idiot. Presenting. This. Show.

Ryan Seacrest may have stated the obvious at the beginning of "American Idol" Tuesday night, but predictability exited stage left soon after. In a surprising twist, Siobhan Magnus was back in top form this week while Crystal Bowersox exposed her love life for all to see.

It was Shania Twain night and in a floral relic from the 1980s, Siobhan clapped her hands to the opening beat of "Any Man of Mine." The 20-year-old Cape Cod native drummed up some good energy, prancing across the stage in kick-butt white docs. Her voice may have teetered on flatness, but the judges loved it. Even Simon - though he compared her last note to someone giving birth - thought it was fun.

Adam Lambert Wants to Fall in Love, Work with Rihanna & more

As he tours Europe, promotes his debut album and entertains fans at night clubs, Adam Lambert is also taking time to answer questions from reporters.

In a recent interview, for example, the singer touched on taking over Simon Cowell, working with recording legends and falling in love. A few excerpts...

On judging American Idol: "I keep hearing the rumor. Unfortunately, it's just a rumor. I would be honored to be asked - but I think at this point I'm just focusing on my career as a recording artist."

On dream duets: "To be able to work with David Bowie would be amazing, his imagination and creativity are beyond - he's an icon.

"I'd also like to sing with Christina Aguilera - I love her voice, I've been a fan since she came out and I think we would throw down and we would be loud.

"I would love to work with Rihanna - she is so down to earth and sweet and kind and friendly. Her tunes are so catchy and visually she is just giving you beauty."

Windows 7 hits 100 million licenses mark, becomes Microsoft's fastest-selling OS

Just six months after its release, Windows 7 is now installed on one in 10 of the world's PCs, Microsoft has confirmed.

The operating system was launched on 22 October, 2009 and has gone on to sell more than 100 million licenses, making it the fastest-selling Windows OS in history according to Microsoft.

Microsoft recently reported revenues of $14.5bn for the financial quarter ended 31 March and chief financial officer Peter Klein said Windows 7 "continues to be a growth engine" — with Windows revenue up 28 percent year-on-year.

Nokia says leaked N8 has early software, shouldn't be reviewed

It looks like Nokia isn't too happy that its big N8 / Symbian^3 reveal this morning was tarnished by Eldar Murtazin's harsh preview of the device and OS a few days ago: in a new Conversations blog post, the company says that Eldar's "salacious headlines" masked the fact that he was looking at a "very early, pre-production prototype with dated software that is not yet ready," and that it only ships products that are "refined, tested, re-tested, evaluated, [and] tested again." Now, Eldar says the devices he examined had the very latest hardware and software, so it's a bit of a he-said-she-said at this point, but there's no denying that Nokia's definitely shipped some not-quite-ready-for-prime-time devices lately -- the N900 and Maemo 5 shipped in pretty roughed-out form, and the company itself has said the N97 was a "tremendous disappointment." How that recent history reflects on Symbian^3 and the N8 remains to be seen, but it's clear that Nokia's feeling pretty defensive about things; Eldar's been scooping Espoo's gear for years now and the company's never made a peep about it. Either that, or someone at Nokia is just trying to cash in on all this iPhone 4 drama by saying things like "we want our prototype back" and "we are not the Secret Police, and we want to maintain our culture of openness," but come on -- that would be a pretty crass publicity stunt, right? We want to believe.

Sandara Park casted as female lead to drama ‘My Girlfriend is a Nine-tailed fox’ with Lee SeungGi?

With news that the upcoming midweek SBS drama ‘My girlfriend is a nine-tailed fox’ will be set for August airing, many netizens are curious as to who Nine-tailed fox (Goo MiHo), the female lead alongside Lee SeungGi to the drama, will be.

It has already been confirmed that Lee SeungGi will be the male lead to the drama. Previously Lee SeungGi shot to fame as a actor when his drama ‘Brilliant Legacy’ received overwhelming responses from viewers. In addition, this is also another drama by the Hong Sisters to look forward to.

Android 2.2 to include full support for Adobe Flash

Gather 'round, Android fans, because Google's Android boss Andy Rubin has done a wide-ranging interview with The New York Times, and we're guessing you're going to want to hear what he has to say. The biggest news to come out of it is word that Android 2.2, a.k.a. Froyo, will come complete with full support for Flash, which is far and away the most official confirmation we've had to date, and slightly contradicts earlier talk that Flash support wouldn't necessarily be built into the OS. Why the change? Rubin says that sometimes being open "means not being militant about the things consumers are actually enjoying." On a similar note, Rubin also said that while he doesn't know when the number of Android phones sold would exceed the number of iPhones and BlackBerrys sold, he's "confident it will happen," adding that "open usually wins." And the hits just keep on coming from there, with Rubin not so subtly working in a mention of North Korea after a discussion about Apple and closed computing platforms, before closing things out with the line: "with openness comes less secrets." Hit up the source link below for the complete interview, in which Rubin also address the issue of Android fragmentation, and reveals that he does indeed own an iPad, but naturally has a few things to say about it.

Senators Call Out Facebook On ‘Instant Personalization’, Other Privacy Issues

Last week, Facebook launched some major new products, including social plugins, its Like button for the web, and its Open Graph API. It also launched a product that has some serious privacy issues: ”Instant Personalization”, which automatically hands over some of your data to certain third-party sites as soon as you visit them, without any action required on your part. I’ve previously discussed at length why I think this could lead to a major backlash. And now four Democratic US Senators — Charles Schumer, Michael Bennet, Mark Begich and Al Franken — are calling on Facebook to change its policies.

This morning the senators sent a letter addressed to Mark Zuckerberg that details these issues (they’ve also separately reached out to the FTC, urging it to establish more rules around social networks). Here are the senators’ three main concerns, along with my own commentary:

Unknown HTC Android QWERTY phone (Wildfire?) hits the FCC, AT&T 3G included

Rarely do we see the FCC approving an HTC phone and posting photos of it – and yet this has just happened.

The HTC PC70110 has been approved by the Commission with AT&T 3G bands (850 / 1900 MHz), and we can clearly see that it’s a touchscreen handset with a full QWERTY keyboard.

The handset also has four touch-sensitive keys, one of them being the familiar Android Home key, so the PC70110 is most likely based on Google’s OS. Update: upon a closer inspection, I’ve noticed that the keys look exactly like the four keys the HTC Droid Incredible has. The navigation pad, however, is different.

The Problem With Opera: It Tries To Scream When It Just Needs To Sing

Opera has always been a bit of a curiosity to me. Nearly everyone seems to tout its speed and adherence to web standards — and yet, no one seems to use it. Well, at least not in the United States anyway, and really not that many people worldwide either. Why is that?

Today, Opera announced a new version (10.52) available for OS X. The promise is that it’s ten times faster than the last version I used (10.10). In fact, they’re saying it’s the “world’s fastest browser for Mac.” So I decided to try it out as my primary browser the entire morning.

First off, let me just say that the thing does seem pretty fast. Noticeably faster than Chrome or Safari? No (more on that below), but definitely faster than Firefox. And, a few rendering issues aside, it does seem like a pretty solid browser. But still, the entire time I was using it, I found myself itching to go back to Chrome or Safari. It took me a while to figure out why. But I’ve come to the realization that it was staring me in the face.

I simply don’t like the way Opera looks on a Mac.

Glee Star Matthew Morrison: "I Don't Get This Bieber Thing"

Considering Justin Bieber is all of 16 and can sing and dance, he's sort of perfect to play a high school student on Glee.

Well, maybe not.

Matthew Morrison, who plays Mr. Schuester, isn't so keen on our idea of bringing Bieber Fever to McKinley High…

"I don't get this Bieber thing," Morrison told us last night at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences' Glee panel, which was fabulously moderated by our very own TV queen, Kristin Dos Santos. "I really don't get it. I hear he was in Australia and they kicked him out because he started a riot.

"I haven't even heard his music. I couldn't tell you one name of his songs—and I'm not lying about that!"

Jane Lynch, who plays the show's resident meanie Sue Sylvester, seconds that. "Oh, honey. You're asking the wrong person these questions," Lynch said, laughing, when we brought up the Bieber idea. "I know things about artists, but I don't know about pop stars."

Kevin McHale, aka Artie, simply said, "Uh, [Bieber] seems busy. I don't know if he has the time."

Facebook Considering HTML5, Won’t Talk iPad App

Earlier today, there was a lot of hubbub over Facebook supposedly enabling HTML5 video playback on their website. This would, of course, allow Facebook videos to be played natively within the browser on the iPad and iPhone. More significantly, it would be another big blow to Adobe’s Flash format. The only problem? These Facebook videos aren’t using HTML5 at all.

Yes, videos on Facebook do play when clicked on from the iPad or iPhone, but only ReadWriteWeb noted that this was through an h264 player (which both the iPhone and iPad have always supported), and not actually any sort of HTML5 implimentation. We’ve since confirmed this with Facebook which says, “You are correct, this is not html 5. All new videos are encoded in h264 format, so we’re playing videos natively in the iPad since it supports h264-encoded videos.”

Okay, but more importantly, are there plans for Facebook to support HTML5 just as Apple, Google, and many others have started to? “We’ll consider it for the future,” a Facebook representative tells us.

I also took the opportunity to ask about the status of a native Facebook iPad app. Facebook’s iPhone app is easily one of the best applications in the App Store, but since it’s not universal (meaning there are versions for both the iPhone and iPad), it, like all other iPhone apps, looks a bit junky when running scaled to twice its size on the iPad. “We don’t have anything to announce re: your iPad question,” is all I was told.

Shattered Dreams—iPhone Video Chat Might Be Wi-Fi Only

Code trickles promised video chat hiding inside iPhone OS 4, raising hopes and inflating sci-fi fantasies. Now code snippets bring us back to earth, that iPhone video calling might be real but only over Wi-Fi.

Here's the code at issue in the iPhone OS 4 Beta 2 SDK:

IMAVCHAT_COULD_NOT_CONNECT_NO_REMOTE_WIFI = "The video call could not connect because a remote Wi-Fi connection could not be established.";
IMAVCHAT_DISCONNECTED_NO_LOCAL_WIFI = "The video call disconnected because the local Wi-Fi connection was lost.";

Park JaeBum to return to Korea with parents in June, press conference in the works

Former 2PM leader Jaebeom (23) will be officially returning to Korea as a movie actor and singer.

A representative of ‘Hype Nation’ said through a phone call to Money Today Star News on the 28th, “Jaebeom will arrive in Korea with his parents in the beginning of June.” This will be the first time that Jaebeom will be in Korea since he left for America last September, 8 months ago.

The representative said, “Although the precise date has not yet been determined, the film has to start shooting from the second week of June,” and “So at the latest, he will have to arrive in Korea at the beginning of June.”

According to this representative, Jaebeom will be in Korea for 70 days to film the movie. He revealed, “He is planning to stay in Korea for about 70 days.”

CNBLUE’s leader Jung Yonghwa has been diagnosed with vocal cord nodules.

Jung Yonghwa’s agency, FNC Music expressed, “During the recording of Kim Jung Eun’s Chocolate on 21st April, Jung Yonghwa said his throat felt weird so we took him to the hospital where he was diagnosed with vocal cord nodules.”

Vocal cord nodules are small growths on the vocal cords that occur due to high levels of stress on the vocal cords (similar to a callus on the hand).

They are commonly referred to as the singer’s nodule. Symptoms include a breathy voice and a hoarse throat.

At the rehearsal recording for Chocolate, Jung Yonghwa repeatedly said that he felt his vocalization was off and that his throat felt weird.

An official said, “The first steps we have to take do not include surgery, the only thing the doctor recommended was that Jung Yonghwa take a break from all activities including CNBLUE’s new album.”

Download Firefox Fennec for Android

The first build you can install of Firefox for Android—aka Fennec—is "pre-alpha," but I doubt that'll stop you. You'll (basically) need a Droid or Nexus One, though.

Windows Live Messenger for Apple iPhone screenshots emerge

Microsoft had been working on a version of Windows Live Messenger for Apple’s iPhone as far back as late 2009. And as one might expect after several months, work on the app is near completion. Today, the first screenshots of the forthcoming mobile messaging client have been revealed to show a few of its features.

According to those in the know, Windows Live Messenger for iPhone will include photo sharing, chat and a social stream for users. Beyond this, nothing else has been specified, though more details should become available as we near the app’s official release date.

Nokia C2 render spins QWERTY right round

Render plus logo does not a new phone make, but that didn't keep us from admiring the ridiculous form factor on this supposed Nokia C2. While the 'C' label puts the device squarely in dumbphone territory and the only specs available (320 x 240 display, 2 megapixel camera) don't belabor that point, split-horizontal keyboards have a special place in our heart, and we eagerly await their return. That said, Nokia better get cracking if they want to beat the MOTOSPLIT -- the way we see it, they're one whole leaked, possibly fake render behind the competition.

Apple purchases Intrinsity, just 498 more ARM licensees to go

With P.A. Semi under its belt, and now "people familiar with the deal" reporting to The New York Times that a purchase of Intrinsity is a go, Apple's march to ARM preeminence is becoming much more clear. A rumor about an Intrinsity purchase surfaced a few weeks ago when the processor design firm's website went down and a few of its employees switched their LinkedIn employee status over to Apple, but now we've got some solid confirmation -- though Apple and Intrinsity are still staying tight-lipped about the deal. Intrinsity's rumored contribution to the iPad's A4 chip is a modified A8 core it designed dubbed the Hummingbird, which squeezes 1GHz of performance out of a chip regularly limited to a mere 650MHz. It's unlikely that this acquisition will shed much more light on the internals of the iPad or future Apple devices -- in fact, it might help obfuscate them -- but it's clear that Apple is dead set on owning as much IP and "smart people" in relation to ARM as it can muster. Of course, the next big rumor on this front is a purchase of ARM itself, but that's an entirely different can of worms.

Iron Man 2: Scarlett Johansson and Gwyneth Paltrow From Grey to White head-to-head on Red Carpet

They may have sported very different styles on the red carpet last night, but Iron Man 2 co-star Scarlett Johansson and Gwyneth Paltrow opted for the same colour as they attended the film's world premiere.

Just days after they both wore grey to a photocall, Johansson and Paltrow wore white as they joined their co-star Robert Downey Jnr at the star-studded screening in Los Angeles.

While Johansson, 25, opted for a stunning sculpted Armani Prive asymmetrical dress and glittery heels, Paltrow, 37, went for a more androgynous look in a pair of Giorgio Armani degrade shorts and matching blazer.

Megan Fox makes an emergency dash to the beauty counter after she's caught without make-up

As one of Hollywood's hottest young actresses, Megan Fox is usually seen looking immaculate on the red carpet in a designer dress and perfect make-up.

But after being spotted looking au naturel yesterday, the 23-year-old dashed into a cosmetics store for a make-up fix.

Fortunately for the Transformers beauty, she still looked just as attractive, albeit a bit tired and washed-out.

Dressed down in black jeans, a grey T-shirt and Ugg boots, Fox didn't look ready to be photographed as she was caught shopping in the Los Angeles suburb of Studio City.

Nokia announces the N8, its first Symbian^3 handset & more

Nokia have officially announced the N8 smartphone, the handset we saw prematurely reviewed (and somewhat panned) yesterday, and the first from the company to pack a 12-megapixel camera with Xenon flash, HDMI connectivity and Symbian^3 OS. As we’ve heard before, there’s a 3.5-inch 640 x 360 capacitive touchscreen, GPS and 16GB of built-in storage plus a microSD card slot.

As well as being the first to run Symbian^3 – which has an improved menu structure, better multimedia handling including CoverFlow-style album browsing and a “visual task switcher” – the N8 is also the first Nokia device to pack Qt integration. The chassis is made from a single piece of anodised aluminum, and will be available in silver, orange, blue, yellow and black; it measures 113.5 x 59.12 x 12.9 mm and weighs 135g.

Gizmodo Staff May Face Felony Over Lost iPhone, EFF Says Raid Was Illegal

Will criminal charges be brought against the iPhone leakers?

The battle over the lost iPhone prototype is heating up. After Gizmodo broke Apple's veil of secrecy, spilling the beans on their upcoming summer fourth-generation iPhone in a super-scoop, Apple demanded the iPhone be returned. Gizmodo complied, but the case isn't over.

On Monday Gizmodo editor Jason Chen's California residence was raided by Silicon Valley's computer crime force. They executed a search warrant.

Under Section 1524 (g) of the California penal code and Section 1070 of the California Evidence Code, journalists enjoy special protection against search and seizures. While this was widely covered yesterday, what was not was why the police were able to override those provisions.

Sandara Park- Upcoming Star with Most Potential to Succeed

Will these new idols capture the movies screens sooner or later as well?

Even in the district of Chungmuro, there has been a lot of interest in idols. Last year, Ga-in (from Brown Eyed Girls) appeared in the movie “My Love by My Side” directed by Park Jinpyo, revealing a new side of her. In addition, Top from Big Bang who showed his acting skills in the KBS2TV Drama ‘Iris’, starred in the movie “Into the Fire” in the second half of the year.

‘Idols who are good at acting’ are considered as rising stars full of possibilities. Most recently, Sandara Park (2NE1) and Taeckyeon (2PM) are receiving much attention from the public.

More photos of Yoon Eun Hye for W Korea

Earlier in the month, we reported that singer-turned-actress Yoon Eun Hye would be posing for W Korea.

That was just a tease as now more photos, along with the article, have been released!

The beauty had flew to Paris, France for the shoot and like the city, Yoon Eun Hye shows nothing but sophistication while maintaining a sexy dynamic vibe.

Spencer Pratt Launches Unwarranted Twitter Attack on Lauren Conrad

Spencer Pratt doesn't seem too happy that Lauren Conrad may be making her way back to 'The Hills.'

According to rumors, Conrad could return for the final 12 episodes of the MTV reality show, something that Spencer, who has been banned from the series, didn't take too well.

Pratt, taking a mature approach, decided to attack Conrad on his Twitter account. "Is it true that you want back to the hills. Nobody cared about you the first round or second. What about your boyfriend u pay?" he wrote.

But it didn't stop there. Fourteen tweets were aimed at the former 'Hills' star, insinuating the her boyfriend, Kyle Howard, dumped her, that she was never relevant and that her looks make him sick.

"Just make sure you pack no bikinis for your trip back on the hills. Still sick from photos I saw of u in a gutter 3 years ago," he eloquently said.

RIM posts BlackBerry 6 video

Just a moment ago, during our live blog coverage of the day one WES keynote, we made mention of a BlackBerry 6 video that was actually quite good. RIM has just posted said video up on YouTube for the world to see. Hit the jump and enjoy!

College Dudes Get Some Taylor Swift Action

We get that not all of you love Taylor Swift.

When a star ascends to her level of fame, there are bound to be lovers and haters. But really, when she does cute stuff like this, how can you diss?

Back in January, Auburn University students Michael Wekall and Ryan Leander began a quest to get a little lovin' from the country cutie and started the website A Hug From Taylor Swift to show their determination. They posted videos and such with pleas for a squeeze.

Sprint’s HTC EVO 4G to cost $199 on contract?

The HTC EVO 4G might be sold by Sprint for $199 on contract – not such a big surprise, since most of the high-end smartphones sold on the US market (including Verizon’s HTC Droid Incredible) are offered for a similar price.

According to Ozcarguide, a Best Buy rep confirmed the $199 price for the EVO. A data plan subscription for two years will probably be required.

The HTC EVO 4G is North America’s first 4G (WiMAX) phone, and Sprint’s fourth Android handset – after the HTC Hero, Samsung Moment, and Motorola i1.

Sprint currently says that the EVO 4G will be available in the summer – June 13 is a possible launch date.

Android Passes iPhone Web Traffic In U.S.

As we noted earlier, mobile ad network AdMob has released its monthly mobile metrics report for March, which takes a close look at Android OS traffic. One interesting stat that was hidden in the report was that Android ad traffic overtook iPhone traffic in the U.S. for the month of March.

According to the report, Android traffic in the U.S. increased to 46 percent of operating system share compared to 39 percent for the iPhone operating system. Worldwide, the iPhone OS still took the top spot, taking 46 percent of the OS share, with Android phones seeing 25 percent of impressions. AdMob measures mobile ad impressions, which is a proxy for overall traffic.

'True Blood' first look: Official season 3 poster!

With just six weeks to go until the racy vampire drama True Blood returns to airwaves, HBO has released the first official cast photo from season 3, putting the love triangle between Bill (Stephen Moyer), Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) front and center.

But could the shot — which also features Kristin Bauer as Pam, Nelsan Ellis as Lafayette (who’s getting a love interest this season), Ryan Kwanten as Jason and Deborah Ann Wall as new vamp Jessica — foretell romance between former flames Sam (Sam Trammell) and Tara (Rutina Wesley), huddled together in back?

Lindsay Lohan HIV-Positive? Twitter Hacker Claims LiLo Slept With Tommy Mottola

For those who still aren’t sick of hearing about The Lohans, there’s quite a few nasty rumors making their way around the Twitterverse this afternoon — and it seems they originated on her father’s account.

On Tuesday morning, Michael Lohan’s account on the microblogging website was reportedly hacked by a mysterious phantom who sent out a series of Tweets about the overzealous stage dad and his fallen starlet daughter. Among the most notable were statements which claimed Lindsay had an affair with music mogul Tommy Motolla (The man Michael Jackson once called “The Devil.”) when she was underage and that the ex-Mean Girl is HIV-positive.

AMD Pushes Affordability With Six-Core Phenom II X6

It's not really a surprise, but AMD today announced its entry into the six-core desktop chip market, with its Phenom II X6 chip, which had been code-named Thuban.

This chip, manufactured on Global Foundries' 45nm process (which is used in the current quad-core Phenom IIs as well) is similar to AMD's six-core Operton server chips, but designed for the desktop environment.

In some respects, AMD's entry is similar to Intel's Core i7-980X Extreme processor, known as Gulftown, which was introduced last month. But in other ways, it points out the different approach AMD is taking to the market. While Intel is emphasizing peak performance and "hyperthreading" (allowing two threads to run on each core), AMD is emphasizing its overall chip platform, including discrete graphics, as well as affordability.

Samsung Galaxy A (SHW-M100S) launched in South Korea

Samsung’s first Android 2.1 smartphone, the SHW-M100S (first seen back in February), is now available in South Korea as Samsung Galaxy A.

Sold via SKT (South Korea’s largest mobile carrier), the Galaxy A has features that remind us of the Galaxy S. Interestingly, the 3.7 inch WVGA screen of the Galaxy A is an “AMOLED PLUS” one – but this is likely just a different name for Super AMOLED.

The Galaxy A M100S also comes with an 800MHz processor, Wi-Fi, T-DMB, DivX support, 3.5mm headset jack, 5MP camera, 8GB of internal memory, and a 1500 mAh battery.

John Mayer Predicts Deadpool For Twitter

“I just think Twitter as a form of communication, I think it’s over to be honest with you.”

That was musician John Mayer during an onstage interview in Hollywood recently.

Mayer has had an interesting history on Twitter. A year ago, there were reports that Mayer and his girlfriend, actress Jennifer Aniston, broke up because he was more interested in tweeting than hanging out with her. Then, this past December, Mayer decided that he needed a break from Twitter (and other social networking services) with his one week “Digital Cleanse.” But he came back, and has since then gained some 500,000 new followers, pushing him past 3.2 million, and making him one of the most followed people on the service (he’s only about 500,000 followers behind President Obama).

His personal Tumblr blog is also called One Forty Plus, clearly in reference to Twitter’s character limitation.
