Teen Choice Awards 2010: Katy Perry takes inspiration from big winners Twilight as she goes all vampire-goth as ceremony host

She's something of a style chameleon and likes to experiment when it comes to her wardrobe.

So it was hardly surprising that Katy Perry couldn't resist diving into the fancy dress box as she made six costume changes as host of the the Teen Choice Awards last night.

And she took inspiration from the night's big winners as she dressed up in full vampire goth, complete with leather, studs, thick black eyeliner and a long black wig.

The pop star, 25,was master of ceremonies at the annual event held in Los Angeles, and kick started the night

But the singer then popped backstage and hit the fancy dress box as she made a total of six costume changes throughout the night.

“Entourage” Ending In 2011

It’s official: After six seasons, HBO is pulling the plug on Entourage.

The cable network has ordered a shortened final season of its longest-running series, which will conclude next summer, Entourage producers announced over the weekend.

On Sunday, HBO announced that the final season of it’s Hollywood-lifestyle comedy — about an accomplished young actor from Queens and the childhood pals who follow him across the US for a new life in the City of Angels. Entourage: The Final Season will air in 2011 with just six episodes, in comparision with previous seasons, which have consisted of eight to 14 episodes.

“The plan right now is we’ll finish up this season, we’ll do a shorter order for next season, we’ve talked about six,” Michael Lombardo, HBO Programming President, told The Hollywood Reporter Sunday.

“(Creator Doug Ellin) is appropriately reserving – he wants to write a film, but wants to do it when the story will make sense. He’s pitched other shows to us. I will expect that within the next couple years (he’ll have another show on HBO). But Entourage next summer will definitely be the final season.”

Bill Gates on giving, batteries, tablets, and more

Bill Gates says it's gratifying to see the computer industry that he helped start turn some of its attention to broader societal challenges.

"I think there's increased awareness of using innovation to help in more than just profit making," Gates told CNET in an interview on Friday, following his speech at the Techonomy conference. "When I think back to the conferences I went to earlier in the industry, we were pretty darn focused on popularizing software and personal computing. Nothing wrong with that, but it's nice to see the evolution."

At the conference, the first in what organizers hope will be an annual series, Gates spoke about the need for better software modeling and his disappointment in the U.S. political system.

When he wasn't addressing the crowd, Gates had the chance to debate battery technology with Google co-founder Larry Page, hold several private meetings, and meet Talia Leman, the 15-year-old chief executive of youth-oriented nonprofit RandomKid.org.

In a car on his way to the airport, Gates spoke about his most recent efforts, including last week's announcement that around 40 wealthy American individuals and families had signed on to his Giving Pledge, agreeing to give half their wealth to charity.

As for his part-time work at Microsoft, Gates said he's most involved in search, but talks with CEO Steve Ballmer about a range of issues and also has been sending messages to the Windows team about how to make sure Apple's iPad doesn't wipe Microsoft out of the tablet game.

RIM BlackPad tablet priced at $499 when it ships in November?

Come on, admit it, you want to believe that RIM is working on a tablet called the BlackPad don't you? You'd better, because Apple Daily is piling on with more unsubstantiated rumor this morning. So, in addition to the 9.7-inch display, Bluetooth, WiFi, and front- and rear-facing cameras already mentioned by Bloomberg's sources, Apple Daily claims that Quanta won the bid to manufacture the tablet with plans to ramp up for 2 million units starting in September (for a November retail launch) with another 8 million planned for 2011. The price? $499 is the target, naturally.

Sony Ericsson Xperia 10 officially debuts on AT&T: $130 on contract

If ever there were a place for using the phrase "it's about time," this would be it. If you'll recall, we heard rumors that Sony Ericsson's Xperia X10 would be headed to AT&T as far back as November of last year, possibly proving just how grueling the certification process is for getting a handset onto Ma Bell's network. Those whispers flared up again back in April, and our hunches about yesterday's tease seem to be confirmed today. The Android-powered X10 (v1.6 so far as we can tell, but the PR carefully dodges the issue) will be available for consumers starting on August 15th, with the handset boasting a 4-inch touchpanel, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, inbuilt GPS, 8.1 megapixel camera (with LED flash), 8GB of onboard memory, a 2GB flash card and a couple of SE's own apps atop the stock Android build (Mediascape and Timescape). AT&T's claiming that this bad boy will set you back $149.99 on a 2-year service plan, but Sony's saying that it can be picked up in a local Sony Style store for $20 less. Oh, and if you wait a week, it'll be $49.99 on contract over at Amazon. Decisions, decisions.

Update: Yep, it's Android 1.6. Commence weeping.

Vampires Don't Suck at Teen Choice Awards (Neither Do Justin Bieber, Sandra Bullock or the Kardashians)

The Teen Choice Awards are like elementary school sports: Everyone gets a prize just for showing up!

Or that's how it seemed as dozens of teen- and tween-friendly celebs packed the Gibson Amphitheatre Sunday to pick up 104 awards (17 of which went to productions with vampires in them) in six genres: movies, television, music, summer, fashion and—for the handful that fell just outside those lines—miscellaneous.

Since only two hours' worth of shenangians, hosted by Katy Perry and the boys of Glee, will be shown Monday night on Fox, many of those honors were doled out off-camera.

But don't worry, most of the awards that were given to Robert Pattinson will be seen in prime-time.

Pattinson won four surfboards, including Choice Male Movie Star of the summer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. He shared Choice Liplock, and Choice Chemistry with his absentee New Moon costar Kristen Stewart, also a four-time winner.

New Moon was, not surprisingly, the teens' Choice Movie, Fantasy.

The obliging Brit also got a special treat, being named Choice Movie Actor, Drama, for...wait for it...Remember Me, the nonvampire film he starred in last year.

And we got a treat, too, because Jimmy Fallon presented using his "Robert Pattinson is bothered" voice. Yay! He can do the whole Emmy ceremony like that if he wants.

HTC's 4.3-inch Desire HD shows up on video

We saw our first images of the Desire HD over the weekend, and just as day follows night, video leaks typically follow pictorial ones. You'll already be familiar with the mooted specs -- including 720p HD video recording, WVGA screen resolution, and an 8 megapixel imager -- so what else does this handset tour reveal? Well, the family resemblance to HTC's other 4.3-inchers is inevitably apparent to see, with the Desire HD sticking its headphone port at the bottom just like the HD2, and employing a dual LED flash à la the EVO 4G. Beyond that, it looks like yet another well rounded device from the prolific Taiwanese phone maker -- hurry past the break to see it for yourself.

HTC Schubert: Windows Phone 7 gets an aluminum unibody handset to call home?

And the Windows Phone 7 leaks just keep on flowing. After that mysterious ASUS pre-prodution unit we saw late last week, today we're being treated to the first sighting of the HTC Schubert. Purportedly a device planned for "day one" of the WP7 revolution, the Schubert is said to have been built using a single piece of aluminum (just like the Legend) with plastic cutouts in the back allowing for that all-important wireless connectivity. Not much else is known for now -- hell, there's no way to even confirm this phone is who it says it is -- but the video's right after the break.

Ariel Lin spotted at SETTV: possible drama collaboration?

Last Friday, Ariel Lin was spotted at the SETTV building accompanied by her manager Chou Mei-Yu. Her visit sparked many rumors of possible collaborations between Ariel and SETTV on future drama projects.

Ariel has filmed five successful idol dramas for GTV, and during these ten years, she has never stepped into the SETTV building except last year when she went on WQYL (Complete Entertainment) to promote her album. Although Ariel has been loyal to GTV since her debut, many speculate that the rumors of her leading role replacement for the much delayed Extravagant Challenge may have scarred their relationship. Ariel has reportedly been waiting for the drama project for three years and thus, has not filmed another new drama since her Golden Bell win in 2008 for her role in They Kissed Again. Ariel commented that she will leave it up to fate.

As SETTV has been losing many of its popular idols like Joe Chen Qiao-En and Ethan Ruan, they have begun to vigorously look for other currently active idols in the drama scene. In addition to inviting Ming Dao back to film Zhong Wu Yen, even Joe Cheng is helping SETTV to film their online drama, “歡迎愛光臨” (roughly translates to Welcome Love).

Lady Gaga…The Actress?

Is Lady Gaga planning her big-screen debut?

From Madonna’s Desperately Seeking Susan to Whitney Houston in The Preacher’s Wife, the story of pop stars stinking up the big screen is almost as old as the cinema itself.

Is the world’s biggest singing sensation ready to add the title “Screen Star” to her already illustrious resume?

After shattering records last week with 13 MTV Video Music Awards nominations, Lady Gaga has set her sights on bigger screens with a Gaga-centric feature film, British tabloid News of the World (We know, we know.) reported Sunday.

Hollywood tattles tell the tab that the “Bad Romance” star is planning to make a splash at the box office in a film epic in the vein of Michael Jackson’s 1988 long-form music movie Moonwalker and the 2006 film adaptation of Dreamgirls, which won singer Jennifer Hudson an Oscar. In fact, lensman Bryan Singer — the director behind The Usual Suspects — is reportedly being eyed as a director for the as-yet-untitled big-budget blockbuster.

“Gaga is a real creative genius and is thinking about new possibilities all the time,” a spy squeals. “She’s very excited about a movie, but she wants to do it right. She wants to work with the best people in the business.”

Is Facebook really nervous about Google Me?

Google is getting close to launching their much hyped “Google Me” social network. This isn’t Google’s first stab at social networking — for example, Orkut (Google’s own Facebook) is a successful website in only a few countries.

Reports from Venture Beat say that Facebook is on “lock down” — basically meaning that all hands are on deck, even weekends, for the next 60 days. Of course, this is just a rumor, and has not been officially confirmed. If this is true though, it surprises me to think that Facebook may be actually nervous about Google’s future product.

Artistes feel pity for Nicholas Tse's old 'scapegoat case' due to recent court case

Kemal Bokhary's niece Amina Bokhary cause of assaulting a Hong Kong police officer is upheld and has caused anger to the entire city. Artists are leaving messages on Weibo and expressing their doubts on the judicial system on interviews. People also compared this case with Nicholas Tse's "scapegoat case" that happened years ago and felt pity for him. Currently in Shandong filming, Nicholas did not want to respond.

As Nic's good friend Edmond Leung wrote on his Weibo yesterday: "So does that mean people can just randomly assault the HK police that we HK citizens respect most.. what now? My old buddy Nicholas Tse's case a few years ago was pretty unfair." Michael Tse received a sentence before for drunk driving, his wife Tina wrote on Weibo questioning why Amina can just get away with assaulting police 3 consecutive times. Kenneth Ma attended an event and expressed his pity for Nic's case. He said: "Should I say I have some psychological problem or some money hungry illness so I can go rob someone?"

Jennifer Aniston: Women Don't Need Men to Be Good Moms

In her new movie The Switch, Jennifer Aniston plays a woman who decides to get pregnant in a non-traditional way – with a "turkey baster," her friend jokes in the film.

During a press conference at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills on Sunday, the actress defended her character's leap into single motherhood by using a sperm donor.

"Women are realizing it more and more knowing that they don't have to settle with a man just to have that child," Aniston, 41, said. "Times have changed and that is also what is amazing is that we do have so many options these days, as opposed to our parents' days when you can't have children because you have waited too long."

When asked about the repercussions of raising a child without a father, Aniston said she believes all types of families can raise healthy kids.

"The point of the movie is what is it that defines family? It isn't necessarily the traditional mother, father, two children and a dog named Spot," she said. "Love is love and family is what is around you and who is in your immediate sphere. That is what I love about this movie. It is saying it is not the traditional sort of stereotype of what we have been taught as a society of what family is."

Sandra Bullock Wins Teen Choice Award

Sandra Bullock didn't walk the blue carpet at the Teen Choice Awards, but that doesn't mean she wasn't there.

The actress, 46, surprised the crowd at L.A.'s Universal Amphitheater on Sunday, when she accepted the award for choice movie actress in a drama for her Oscar-winning role in The Blind Side.

Bullock – dressed in a gray top, black leather pants and high heels – came on stage and thanked cheering fans. "I don't know if you should bring attention to this. Some things are better left unsaid. It's been awhile since I was a teen," she said. "I'm so blessed and lucky. The Blind Side – I got to meet so many good people, so many good lessons I took away from it."

Then, Bullock invited her "sweet friend" Betty White, who she joked hadn't been a teen "since 1919," onto the stage. "I was worried about her fitting in but that's not the problem," Bullock said. "The problem is she was supposed to jump in on my line, so Betty get your ass out on this stage!"

The two then shimmied together to Lil Jon's "Get Low."

Other people to walk away with surfboards included Selena Gomez, Channing Tatum, Taylor Lautner, Megan Fox and the cast of Glee.

Katy Perry, who hosted the event, kicked off the night on a colorful and flashy stage with a performance of her latest song, "Teenage Dream." R&B singer Jason Derulo and Perry's ex-boyfriend Travis McCoy also performed.

Former HP Contractor Jodie Fisher Comes Forward, Expresses Regret Over Hurd's Ousting

Jodie Fisher, the former HP contractor who sued former HP CEO Mark Hurd for sexual harassment and then settled out of court, stated this evening that she is "surprised and saddened" the sacked executive is now without a job.

The statement was made by her attorney, Gloria Allred, and read in part, "I was surprised and saddened that Mark Hurd lost his job over this. That was never my intention."

She continued, "Mark and I never had an affair or intimate sexual relationship. I first met Mark in 2007 when I interviewed for a contractor job at the company. At HP, I was under contract to work at high-level customer and executive summit events held around the country and abroad. I prepared for those events, worked very hard and enjoyed working for HP. I have resolved my claim with Mark privately, without litigation, and I do not intend to comment on it further."

"I wish Mark, his family and HP the best," she concluded.

Pardon my bluntness, but what the heck is going on?! Where's the point in their relationship when the sexual harassment happened? I'm not passing judgment here at all—this is just all very peculiar!

The iPhone 4 Antenna Issue Won’t Die — Because Apple Won’t Let It

In the past few weeks, I’ve been seeing more and more iPhone 4s out in the wild. I think it’s pretty safe to assume that Apple has added a least a couple million more to the 3 million sales figure they revealed at their press conference three weeks ago. But despite there being millions of devices out there, one thing that has been odd the past couple of weeks has been the lack of talk about the iPhone 4′s antenna issue. Reading the headlines three weeks ago, you would have thought Apple was finished — that the iPhone 4 would be a dud. There was absolutely going to be a recall, remember?

Instead, talk has died down about the issue. Those still talking about the issue seem to be those who don’t actually own the device. Those that do own it seem to be happy. Again, we’re talking millions of people. I still have yet to hear of anyone I know returning one. Meanwhile, Apple still can’t make the device fast enough to meet demand. And their stock price is up over 10 points since the “Antennagate” press conference. The world has moved on.

Or it had.

The most peculiar thing about all of this iPhone 4 antenna stuff is the way Apple is handling it. Specifically, they keep doing things to bring it back into the news, ensuring the story won’t die.

Flash ported to iPhone 4, available for download (video)

Cydia is a great place to hang out, and we're sure unlocking is pretty swell, but it's quite possible you and your freshly-rooted iPhone 4 have already run out of fun things to do. In that case, might we suggest giving Frash a try? That's right, Comex's Strong Bad-inspired port of Adobe Flash 10.1 has been compiled once again, and though it's still an alpha build there's nothing keeping you from experiencing the joys of animated advertising on your iOS 4 device. Instructions are exactly the same as in our Flash how-to for iPad -- jailbreak, download the .deb, upload it to Cydia\AutoInstall on your phone via SSH, restart and you're done -- but if that sounds like too much work or you're worried about your phone asploding prematurely, you can watch from a safe distance as Homestar Runner struts his stuff. You'll find that and more in a video after the break, and a pre-compiled alpha build is available at our source link.

Best Buy pegs Droid 2 at $199 with 2-year activation, $599 without

It's rather astounding to believe we've come this far without Verizon or Motorola so much as recognizing the Droid 2's existence, but with leaks like this on a weekly basis who needs traditional marketing? Astute reader Greg from North Carolina tells us his local Best Buy has those leaked dummy units out on shelves, and lo and behold, there's a set of price tags right next to them. As originally rumored, the phone will launch at $199 with carrier subsidy and $599 should you choose to cart it home without a plan in tow. Still no solid confirmation of that August 12 release date, but at this rate we expect the handset may sell out before Verizon breathes a word. Spot the full image after the break.

Update: On a related note, the original Droid is now "out of stock" on Verizon's website.

Raymond Lam to Charlene Choi: "I Choose You"; Charlene and Joey may wax Raymond's legs

Raymond Lam, Charlene Choi, Joey Yung and other artists recently attended the HK premiere of the EEG-TVB-Shaw Brothers joint collaboration movie <The Jade and the Pearl>. Not lacking in sponsors and friends to cheer on, the theater lobby was bursting with a lively atmosphere.

Raymond and Charlene, the pair of them expressed that they don't have pressure regarding the box office. In addition to a fair amount of veteran actors keeping everything under control, Ah Sa added: "If the HK box office reaches 15 million, then Raymond, Joey, Cho Lam and I will all get a punishment. Raymond, Joey and I will all kiss Cho Lam once. Also, Joey and I will use leather tape to help Raymond remove his leg hair!" Frightened Raymond replied: "That's why I've already told fans to help out and go to the Kowloon district to watch the movie!" On the other hand, Raymond was asked if the movie sells big, will Charlene and Joey be asked to wear bathing suits as a punishment? Ah Sa immediately rushed to answer: "I don't think anyone wants to see that. Even if the both of us wear bathing suits, no one will look."

JaeBum on the reason for leaving 2PM, “As long as I am in the clear with God…”

JaeBum avoid questions regarding the reason to why he left group 2PM.

He was featured for an interview on KBS Entertainment Weekly aired on 7th August when he was asked about the reasons for leaving 2PM permanently, “I wrote a post before I returned to Korea. So I want to leave the reason as it is.” Before he returned to Korea, JaeBum wrote on his homepage, “As long as I am in the clear with God, my family and my fans, it is sufficient for me.”

During the interview that day, JaeBum said, “I miss the kids (2PM). I wish we can welcome one another and get along well.”

Andy Hui Goes Silent and Blackfaced Hearing Reuniting Rumors

Andy Hui flied to Malaysia last week for BIG FOUR concert. Originally planned to return to Hong Kong yesterday afternoon, only Edmond Leung and William So showed up at the airport; Andy Hui and Dick Cheung were missing. Edmond and William said: "They won't be here in a short amount of time. (avoiding reporters?) No, business class cabin was overcrowded, so we returned first. (Andy's emotions affected the performance?) No, he is very professional. The show went well. The four of us were happy. (Contact ex?) Been busy lately." As for Andy's ex Sammi Cheng brought up she doesn't want to disturb love, Edmond said: "Give them some space."

Because Michelle (Andy's ex) is good sister of William's girlfriend, so William spoke good things for Michelle: "Especially Michelle, lots of pressure to handle. (Comfort her?) Not yet. Don't know whether girlfirned call her or not. (Want Andy and Michelle to get back together?) They're adults, need to respect their decision. Hope the three of them are happy." They said they didn't know Andy and Michelle broke up before: "Only Dick felt something's wrong. But Andy is still good right now. He has work, it's better than staying at home." As for Michelle peaked at Andy's SMS, William said: "What! Even close friends like us don't know about it. (Worry Michelle would expose secrets?) Can't worry. There is freedom of speech in Hong Kong."

Inception Got Beat by Some Other Guys?! Yup.

In Dom Cobb's wildest dream did he ever imagine being overshadowed by the post-Land of the Lost Will Ferrell?

No matter, because he did.

After a three-weekend run at No. 1, Inception (estimated $18.6 million Friday-Sunday) got beat good at the box office by Ferrell's and Mark Wahlberg's The Other Guys ($35.6 million).

More results:

• Actually, Ferrell is no longer the post-Land of the Lost Will Ferrell. With his best debut since 2006's Talledega Nights, he's back to being the pre-Land of the Lost Will Ferrell.

• The cop-spoofing The Other Guys is the steady Wahlberg's best debut since 2001's Planet of the Apes.

• Make no mistake, life remains a dream for Inception. The Christopher Nolan-Leonardo DiCaprio mind-bender has grossed more than $227 million domestically, and moved up to sixth place on the 2010 chart.

Why The Verizon iPhone Rumors are True—CDMA iPhone Due in January

We’ve been hearing Verizon iPhone rumors for years now.

It’s to the point that no one really believes the rumors anymore, since analysts and pundits have cried wolf so many times. But this time looks to be different due to some key dynamics in the semiconductor value chain, and I am going to go on record to say Verizon will be selling an iPhone this coming January. Here’s why:

Smartphones like the iPhone are built from a collection of components, which are sourced individually from suppliers—e.g. the iPhone 4’s cellular baseband (the core chipset used in mobile phones to handle voice and data communications) comes from Infineon and its GPS chipset from Broadcom.

Component purchases and manufacturing starts don’t typically reveal strong links to individual handset OEMs. But in some cases components have a DNA which is traceable through the supply chain. For example, iPad rumors became much more concrete when we knew Apple was procuring large LCD screens.

iPad is just the beginning

The media pad market is brand new. And it's not going to be stuck at a 9.7-inch diagonal.

So, no one should be surprised by rumors about Apple bringing out more tablets (or tablet-like devices) beyond the current 9.7-inch iPad. It's going to happen--bigger or smaller screens, or both--rumors notwithstanding. Besides, there are unmet needs out there that either Apple, Motorola, RIM, or another media pad maker will surely satisfy.

And Dell's Streak, which at five inches is not quite a media pad but more than a smartphone, already offers features--like front- and back-facing cameras--that telegraph what could come from Apple or others.

Pop Star Robbie Williams Weds

British pop star Robbie Williams and actress Ayda Field are married.

The couple, who met in 2006, exchanged vows Saturday in front of about 75 friends and family members at his Beverly Hills home.

"The ceremony was very beautiful and romantic," a source tells PEOPLE.

The bride, 31, wore a white dress with her hair pinned up while Williams, 36, wore a black tuxedo.

"At last, Rob is happy," the singer's father, Pete Conway, told Britain's News of the World. "That's what you want for your kids and this is the happiest I've seen him. Ayda is so beautiful and so delightful and so lovely and just so right for him. They are brilliant together."

After the 30-minute ceremony, guests enjoyed a sunset cocktail reception with champagne and gourmet hors d'oeuvre.

The couple will continue their celebration with sit-down dinner and dancing.

Girlfriend’s cheating was reason behind Junichi Okada’s break up

Junichi Okada (29) and Yu Aoi (24) had broken up because Aoi had been cheating on Okada, reports Nikkan Sports.

On August 5, Nikkan Sports had reported that Aoi and Nao Oomori (38) were dating, after catching the couple on a group date in a restaurant in Tokyo in late July.

However, Aoi had only broken up with Okada in April this year, the paper reports.

A Nikkan Sports source had said that Aoi has previously been caught having a dinner date with Oomori in January this year, and this was one of the reasons why she and Okada had broken up.

Taylor Momsen Jokes About F*%king Priest, Has No Idea Who Justin Bieber Is

Say about you will about her, Gossip Girl star and up-and-coming rock star Taylor Momsen certainly doesn't hold back. You may not like her, but she is who she is.

The Pretty Reckless frontwoman is often criticized for being too racy on stage, and in how she dresses in general. These comments are sure to fire up critics, too.

As sources of celebrity quotes go, the 17-year-old is already among the elite. In a recent New Zealand radio interview, Momsen touched on the following topics:

On her band's song, "Going Down," about the Catholic church: "I was raised Catholic. I f*%ked a priest once. Just kidding. It seemed like a fitting song to write at the time. It was kind of a f*%k you to all the molestation going on. It was just insane."
