Justin Timberlake in Esmée Denters's New Video

Esmée Denters scored the ultimate costar for her new video "Love Dealer": Justin Timberlake.

Timberlake is featured on the uptempo R&B song, which he co-produced with Stargate and co-wrote with Denters, 21. The video, directed by The Malloys, was shot in March in downtown L.A. and shows "the process of recording her song," says a source. "Justin sends Esmée out into the world and watches her career take off as he looks down on her from a rooftop."

Dutch-born Denters – who was discovered after posting cover versions of popular songs on YouTube in 2006 – was the first artist signed to Timberlake's label, Tennman Records. "Love Dealer" hits radio in May and will appear on her album Outta Here, which debuts in August.

Logan Lerman To Play Spider-Man?

Is Logan Lerman turning his back on Mount Olympus to swing into the "Spider-Man" franchise?

That's the case according to unidentified sources at HitFix, who report that the "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief" star — already mentioned as a possible Peter Parker replacement some months ago — is now set to star in Marc Webb's planned "Spider-Man" reboot.

While the report states that Lerman is "almost 100% locked" into the role, nothing is official at this point. It should be noted that HitFix previously indicated that Jackie Earle Haley would play Sinestro in "Green Lantern," although the role ultimately went to Mark Strong.

Lerman was first mentioned as a "Spider-Man" contender back in February, but when questioned about the opportunity by MTV News, Lerman said the talk was premature.

Steve Jobs Responds To iPhone SDK Complaints: ‘Intermediate Layers Produce Sub-Standard Apps’

Over the last few days, the web has been awash with news that Apple has changed its iPhone developer SDK agreement to ban the use of “applications that link to Documented APIs through an intermediary translation or compatibility layer”, which nullifies Adobe’s upcoming Flash-to-iPhone conversion tool and may also ban many other developer tools. Despite heated reactions from Adobe and many developers, Apple has remained silent on the change. However, it looks like Steve Jobs may have just broken through the wall of silence to address the changes to Section 3.3.1 — via an email exchange with a developer.

Greg Slepak, CEO of TaoEffect, emailed Jobs to voice his concerns and got a pair of brief responses, which he has posted to his site. In his first message to Jobs, Slepak included a link to a highly negative thread on Hacker News where many developers criticized the move. Jobs responded:

Adobe Vs. Apple War Generates Rage, Facebook Group

It was inevitable. Adobe has an unofficial Facebook fan club: “I’m With Adobe,” an allusion to the viral “I’m With Coco” campaign for jilted ex-Tonight Show host Conan O’Brien. As of Saturday afternoon, the group (started by John Addis, a Web & Media Director at Rizzi Designs) has attracted more than 1,200 members in less than three days.

The group’s manifesto is:

The recent war between Adobe and Apple reached a breaking point on April 8, 2010, when Steve Jobs not only recommitted to never allowing Flash to run on the iPhone or iPad, but even banning Adobe’s new Flash-to-iPhone C compiler which was to go on sale Saturday, April 10.

There is no longer any debate as to who the “bad guy” is in this story — Apple has proven themselves to be anti-competition, anti-developer, and anti-consumer.

I stand with Adobe.

Bing posts its tenth consecutive search-share gain and other Microsoft news bits

Comscore has released its March U.S. search-share numbers and Bing is up slightly again. This is the tenth straight month of modest gains for Bing, according to the market watcher. Bing share was up to 11.7 percent in March (from 11.5 percent in February). Yahoo, for a change, also grew its share, to 16.9 percent in March from 16.8 percent in February. Google fell slightly in March, from 65.5 percent in February to 65.1 percent last month. In other Bing news, Microsoft rolled out a face-lift for the Bing shopping site this week with some minor UI tweaks and more reviews.

VirnetX goes after Microsoft for more money. VirnetX, the company which recently won round one of a patent-infringement battle with Microsoft over VPN technology, has filed a motion seeking more money for “enhanced damages,” plus attorneys’ fees, in its case against Microsoft. (The new damages fee will be whatever is determined as appropriate by the court, according to the new filing.) Last month, the East Texas jury recommended Microsoft be required to pay VirnetX $106 million, but VirnetX believes it deserves more, due to Microsoft’s size, “financial condition” and its failure to take remedial action. VirnetX filed a second suit right after it won its initial case, claiming Windows 7 also is infringing on its patents. “Microsoft disagrees with VirnetX’s (latest) assertions, and we look forward to presenting our position to the Court,” a company spokesperson said on April 9. Microsoft is appealing the initial decision.

Vanness Wu's latest girlfriend is his Singaporean-ex

A close friend of Taiwanese singer-actor Vanness Wu has revealed the identity of his new girlfriend to be Singaporean heiress Arissa Cheo, and claimed it is a rekindled love between the pair.

Former F4 member Vanness, after being spotted recently on a date with "an unknown long-haired beauty" in Hong Kong, confirmed the new romance through his manager, Katie, a few days ago. Katie referred to the fashionable, sweet-looking girl as 'Miss A'.

After word got around, a close friend revealed 'Miss A' to be the 27-year-old Arissa, who has appeared in Vanness' 'My Kingdom' music video. They dated in 2006 but broke up after one year as they drifted apart when Arissa was studying in the US.

When pressed for more information, the tight-lipped Katie declined to comment further on the situation.

Jay Chou’s not invited to Patty Hou’s wedding

Jay Chou might have indicated his willingness to attend his ex-girlfriend's wedding, but Patty Hou confirmed that the superstar will not be invited to the "simple affair".

Appearing at a Shanghai event with her mother on Wednesday, a glowing Patty talked candidly about her recent engagement to Ken Huang, a vice-president at Citigroup.

She said, "I've gone through a period of time when all eyes were on me (referring to her past relationship with singer-actor Jay which ended in 2006). Now the elders and I feel we should keep a low profile."

The 32-year-old declared that she would update the media about her marriage and requested privacy for her fiancé, who is not a public figure.

Wedding plans are "still in discussion," but it should happen in the next few months and only relatives and close friends would be invited.

Date Night Tops Titans at Friday Box Office

Friday night was Date Night at the box office with the Steve Carell and Tina Fey romantic comedy earning an estimated $9.3 million in its opening frame. Weekend totals for the film are expected to come in around $26 million.

Date Night's main competition, Warner's Clash of the Titans, was unable to endure the wrath of moviegoer word of mouth in its second Friday with an estimated $8.5 million. It will be lucky to cross $25 million and will likely sustain a painful 60 percent or more drop from last weekend.

How to Train Your Dragon kept on puffing with another $7.1 million and should come in around $20 million through Sunday. Disney's The Last Song with Miley Cyrus strummed up $3.6 million in ticket sales and will need a strong Saturday and Sunday to reach $10 million for the weekend.

Apple Scrubs "Google" Name From Safari Search In iPhone OS 4

Apple's move to ban Adobe's Flash-to-iPhone compiler elicited shrugs from Adobe and complaints from Adobe loyalists. Digging deeper into the OS reveals another, albeit less dramatic slight: Apple scrubbed Google's name from the new OS's Safari search button.

The iPad has the generic "search" button as well, as the Safari settings allow users to choose between Google or Yahoo! as their default search engines. The text in the search box at the top of the screen changes to read either "Google" or "Yahoo!," depending on which is selected, but the soft keyboard's search button does not bear any site's name.

Run Windows on Your iPad? You betcha, WYSE guy.

Feeling a little left out with Adobe Flash and other great desktop apps that don’t work on the iPad yet? Well, not to worry. The WYSE guys have you covered with PocketCloud, a new iPad application ($29.99) available on the App Store that allows you to connect to any desktop or virtual operating system that supports Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Protocol.

I was able to test this successfully with Windows 7’s Remote Assistance software enabled and it also works just fine with Windows XP. RDP is also supported on Linux desktops using XRDP and Remote Desktop Sharing on many popular Linux distributions (such as Ubuntu) as well as on several 3rd party RDP servers for Mac such as iRap by Coderebel.

Mizukawa, Eikura, Ninomiya and Sakurai having fun under the cherry trees

On April 01 the two Arashi members Ninomiya Kazunari (26) and Sakurai Sho (28) have been spotted enjoying the cherry trees that are currently in full bloom. Occasions where people go out to gaze at the beautiful cherry blossoms like this are called ohanami or sakura viewing, a term most of you have probably heard already. Anyway, Ninomiya and Sakurai haven't been alone that day, the young actresses Mizukawa Asami (26) and Eikura Nana (22) were with them all the time.

Sounds like a great and fun outing of some very popular young stars in Japan. They didn't even try to disguise themselves and simply enjoyed being together. So what's the occasion? Is it time for more dating rumors again?

"Most people might still not be aware, but Mizukawa is actually very close with the members of Arashi. Even in their private time they often go out to have some meals together. Once she appeared together with Aiba Masaki (27) in a movie and there were rumors about them being in a relationship. Eikura, on the other hand, is a very good friend of Mizukawa," an official of a broadcasting station explained the foursome.
