Logan Lerman To Play Spider-Man?
Is Logan Lerman turning his back on Mount Olympus to swing into the "Spider-Man" franchise?
That's the case according to unidentified sources at HitFix, who report that the "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief" star — already mentioned as a possible Peter Parker replacement some months ago — is now set to star in Marc Webb's planned "Spider-Man" reboot.
While the report states that Lerman is "almost 100% locked" into the role, nothing is official at this point. It should be noted that HitFix previously indicated that Jackie Earle Haley would play Sinestro in "Green Lantern," although the role ultimately went to Mark Strong.
Lerman was first mentioned as a "Spider-Man" contender back in February, but when questioned about the opportunity by MTV News, Lerman said the talk was premature.
"To be honest, it's a role that any young actor is dying to play and I'm just hoping to be considered ... I'm just a huge fan," Lerman said. "That's all I can say. 'Spider-Man' is just an awesome comic book series. There's millions of actors out there who want to play the role. I'm just one of them."
Now, according to HitFix, Lerman has won the role, beating out rumored contenders such as Anton Yelchin ("Star Trek"), Jesse Eisenberg ("Zombieland"), Patrick Fugit ("Almost Famous") and Johnny Simmons ("Scott Pilgrim vs. The World").
In January, series lead Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi departed the "Spider-Man" franchise after plans for a fourth installment fell apart due to reported creative differences.
