'Avatar' is No. 1 again, soars past $1 billion worldwide

Thanks to astronomic word-of-mouth, inflated 3-D ticket prices, and consecutive holiday weekends that began on a Friday, Avatar continued its seemingly unstoppable climb to the Hallelujah Mountains of U.S. and global box office. According to estimates from Hollywood.com Box Office, James Cameron’s sci-fi opus grossed $68.3 million over New Years weekend, a tiny 10 percent drop from Christmas weekend for a $352.1 million domestic total — easily the biggest third weekend in the U.S. ever (2002’s Spider-Man had held the record with $45 million). Much more impressively, in just 17 days, Avatar has surpassed $1 billion in global box office. To put that in perspective, it took The Dark Knight pretty much its entire theatrical run just to make it to that milestone. (Another landmark: $66.4 million of Avatar’s worldwide total is from IMAX theaters, a record for the mega-screen format.)

Avatar wasn’t the only film to ring in the new year with serious box-office bounty, either. Sherlock Holmes sleuthed out an elementary $38.4 million for second place, a 41 percent drop for $140 million total. Hot on its heels, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel chirped to $36.6 million, dropping just 25 percent for $157 million total and third place. (So what will the inevitable third film be called? The Second Squeakquel? The Threakquel?) It’s Complicated fell a bite-sized 15 percent, cooking up $18.7 million for fourth place and $59.1 million total. And in fifth place, The Blind Side actually improved upon its total last week, rising 8 percent for $12.7 million and $209.1 million total. (As EW noted yesterday, this means star Sandra Bullock is the only actress ever to have a film marketed on her star power alone pass $200 million in U.S. box office.)

In fact, with no major debuts to steal away fresh audiences, it was simply a fabulous weekend to be in movie theaters, period. Up in the Air pitched down an imperceptible 3 percent with $11.3 million and $45 million total. The Princess and the Frog hopped up 11 percent with $10 million and $86 million total. Even certified turkey Did You Hear About the Morgans? was up 4 percent, bringing in $5.2 million for a (still woeful) $25.6 million total.

Overall, the top ten box office was up 70 percent from last year, when Marley and Me was barking its way into filmgoers’ hearts.

Here's a rundown of all of the weekend's top-grossing films. The standings, based on Friday-Sunday estimates as compiled by Exhibitor Relations, are almost unchanged from last weekend:

1 - Avatar, $68.3 million
2 - Sherlock Holmes, $38.4 million
3 - Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, $36.6 million
4 - It's Complicated, $18.7 million
5 - The Blind Side, $12.7 million
6 - Up in the Air, $11.4 million
7 - The Princess and the Frog, $10 million
8 - Did You Hear About the Morgans?, $5 million
9 - Nine, $4.3 million
10 - Invictus, $4.1 million

Lindsay Lohan lets it all hang out in Saint Barts as she shops for a swimsuit - in a swimsuit

It's all well and good strutting around the beach showing off your trim figure in a skimpy bikini.

But Lindsay Lohan could have chosen more suitable attire than a barely-there two piece for a bit of late night shopping.

The Mean Girls star is currently holidaying on the Caribbean island of St Barts where she has spent the last few days hanging out with friends and seeing in the New Year.

Yesterday she and her sister Ali spent the day aboard a yacht and sailed to the island's main town of Gustavia where they hung out for the day, soaking up the sun.

Lohan started the day dressed in a long black vest over her swimsuit, which looked chic and stylish when topped off with a cream trilby and very high black wedged shoes

But as the day progressed, Lohan, 23, ditched the cover-up and decided to spend the rest of the evening strutting around in her sexy two-piece instead.

And while her younger sister modesty covered her bottom half with a floral skirt, Lindsay had absolutely no qualms about showing off as much of her slender figure as possible.

And while she was in the dressing room, Lindsay also bumped into Star Wars director George Lucas who was also shopping in the store.

A day earlier, while many were no doubt nursing their New Year's Eve hangovers, Lindsay and her sister took to the waves on a powerful a jet ski before heading back to the boat for some sunbathing and swimming.

Googled: Google prepping social search tool

“Googling Google” is going to be living up to its name this year — the first installment in the new series of investigative type posts reveals that Google is prepping a new tool that will unleash “Social Search”. Real-time search is only the first step, here’s what I’ve discovered about their future plans.

Some Background
Google reaches out to average users to help translate words and phrases into different languages. They usually do this for services that haven’t yet been released so they can launch in multiple languages.

The Dirt
While digging through their requests for translation, here’s some interesting phrases they are looking for:

English: More results from FRIEND_NAME
Description: For results on the search result page, This link will appear after the DisplayUrl. It leads to a set of results restricted to the specific friend who owns this result.

English: FRIEND_NAME on SITE_NAME
Description: A designation that a friend is a member of a particular site

English: Results from people in your social circle for QUERY
Description: A sentence indicating that these results belong to people who are in your social circle.

English: Learn more
Description: For results on the search result page, this link will appear after the heading of the Social Search section. The link will lead to a help page, at which the user can learn more about Social Search.

This year is going to build on previous years — bringing social to another level, again!

Going to Hollywood was just to pave the way, Jay Chou's new album to be released in February, March

Jay Chou hasn't had any new music for a while now. Even though his performance on the movie side of things has been exceptional, but his music is still the focal point of many people, Jay Chou, who has always wanted to do new things and make changes, revealed that the new album released next year will have a big breakthrough, it'll break away from the usual style.

The songs in the new album will fantasy and alternative music. To match the music style, the look in this album will also be very different, "The look will shock people, I'll have me with long hair." Even though the album's style will be completely turned upside down, Jay will still be keeping his original team, he'll invite Ice Cream to do the dances, Vincent Fang will continue his "Chinese style". Why not add some new blood, Jay has his own way of doing things: "I like to work with my own people, using the same people to do different things."

At the end of last year, Jay was in Hollywood filming "The Green Hornet". To him, the meaning of taking on this film was different to other to people, he's not doing it to make it in Hollywood.

Jay Chou sees "The Green Hornet" as a jumping board, it's purely there as a way to push his own music to America. In order to realise his own targets, when he was filming he would change the script, deliberately adding in Chinese lines. Jay, whose English is not so good, joked: "When I'm popular, they'll all speak Chinese."

Jay Chou, who just turned 30, thinks the most embarrassing thing last year was his age, no one understood what he meant. He explained: "I'm soon 31, I can change other things, but not my age. I hope I can be like Alan Tam, he's forever 25, I can be 30 forever."

In the past few days, his ex-girlfriend Patty Hou has been busy with her wedding. Jay brought up this topic himself, he expressed: "Getting married early on like her is quite good." But when asked if he thought about getting married a bit earlier now, Jay said in contrary to what he said before: "I don't want to get married so early. I'll only consider it when I'm 35." He was asked his reasons, the amount of exposure an artist has to endure has become one of the reasons Jay is unwilling to get married, "I don't want my other half's life to be exposed."

Last year Jay Chou spent most of his effort on movies, in terms of music his work has been little to nothing. Yesterday, Jay Chou appeared at the "2009 Sprite Jay Chou Shanghai Music Meeting", he expressed that he has been writing all along, his newest album will be out to see fans in February, March next year, at the same time he plans to hold concerts in Shanghai in August, September.

Rainie Yang gets wet to create excitement, not worrying about her unrequited love

Rainie Yang at the end of last year admitted she had a crush on someone. She hoped during New Year's she would receive a text message from him, but unfortunately her hopes were dashed, the other party made no contact making her feel a little disappointed. After she had finished her work on New Year's eve, a female fan (a girl dressed as a boy) holding flowers and a diamond ring proposed to her, with this considerate gesture it made her laugh and slowly recover from her disappointed feelings.

Rainie's unrequited love, time limit extended to Valentine's day

Rainie's new song "Rainie Love" held an autograph session yesterday, the record company organized a rain ceremony, at the event they even prepared a sprinkler truck. Rainie also used a water gun to spray the fans, with people on stage and below the stage getting wet.

On New Year's eve after being let down by her unrequited love she still did not give up and extended the deadline, "on that day I received so many congratulatory text messages, after inspecting each message I didn't receive any congratulatory messages from "him", but it doesn't matter I will push back the deadline until Valentines day, if I don't hear anything from him I will just give up!" Asking what her wishes were for the New Year, Rainie hoped she would be able to hold a concert and has already planned to invite her mother as the special guest.

Brooke Mueller Looking to Get Back With Charlie Sheen, Says Her Mom

At least one person is hoping for a reconciliation between Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller.

Mueller's mother, Moira Fiore, told E! News exclusively that Brooke has not talked to Sheen since the incident, but she says her daughter is looking forward to speaking with Sheen soon about fixing their relationship.

"She hasn't spoken with him," Fiore said. "But she wants to reconcile with him."

We caught up with Fiore at Denver International Airport, where she revealed that even though she thinks the two may fix their marriage, she has her reservations.

"I have mixed emotions about it," Fiore said.

When asked about what advice she gave to Brooke, she said, "She won't listen to me."

Fiore got serious when asked if she feels comfortable having Brooke's sons, Max and Bob, in the same house as Sheen.

"I'd rather not comment about that," Fiore said.

She did reveal that Brooke had the house in Aspen rented until the end of the month.

Fiore left Aspen today en route to Palm Beach with her daughter Sydney.

"Potter", "Avatar" spur box office record in '09

Crowd-pleasing pics and extra-dimensional tix combined to lift Hollywood to new box office heights in 2009.

Sales rose more than 8% to a record $10.61 billion, while the number of tickets sold (i.e. admissions) climbed almost 4%.

Paramount's "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" ($402.1 million), Warner Bros.' "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" ($302 million) and 3D phenoms such as Fox's "Avatar" ($352.1 million) and Disney/Pixar's "Up" ($293 million) helped set the new box office mark.

But admissions in the United States and Canada -- at 1.41 billion, compared with 1.36 billion in 2008 -- fell a bit short of beating the all-time record of 1.60 billion set in 2002. The box office year began January 5, with tracking firm Nielsen EDI always starting its calendar on the first business day after New Year's.

The race for some of the top spots in annual studio market share rankings went right to the wire, though Warner Bros. had the gold-medal position nailed down early and finished with an industry-record $2.13 billion and a 20% share.

Paramount finished second in a tightly bunched group of majors with $1.46 billion (13.8% share), and Fox was third with $1.45 billion (13.7%), according to EDI estimates. Sony was fourth on the year with $1.44 billion (13.6%), followed by Disney with $1.21 billion (11.4%) and Universal with roughly $900 million (8.5%).

The year's remarkable industry performance came despite predictions from some quarters that climbing ticket prices would prevent the theatrical business from displaying its usual recession-resistant ways. Equally of note, moviegoers' enthusiasm for 3D pictures shows movie theaters still offer a theatrical experience that can compete effectively against increasingly sophisticated home-entertainment systems.

"What we've seen with 3D releases this year, most recently with 'Avatar,' is a reinvention of the moviegoing experience," said Gerry Lopez, president and CEO of No. 2 chain AMC Entertainment. "It's definitely the direction the industry is going."

Sequels proved as strong as ever in 2009, with a $282 million theatrical run for Summit Entertainment's vampire romance "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" joining the "Potter" and "Transformer" pictures among the most successful '09 entrants in the tried-and-true category. Yet Fox's year-end box office bonanza with "Avatar" and Sony's overachieving 11 months earlier with "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" ($146 million) could boost industry enthusiasm for original concepts headed into the new year -- if only as a path to creating new franchises.

It's hard to see Fox not green lighting a follow-up to "Avatar" or Warners not producing a second "Sherlock Holmes" pic. (The latter, starring Robert Downey Jr., closed the year at $140.7 million through just 10 days of release.)

Meantime, 3D cinema has been great for movie theaters, but extra-dimensional theatrical releases can present an awkward mission for studios marketing the same movies as 2D home-entertainment titles.

"3D is very much here," said Adam Fogelson, recently installed as film chief at Universal following the studio's series of '09 box office disappointments. "But while we have absolutely seen an uptick in box office revenue, the movies that have been released in 3D have faced an even tougher challenge in that the DVD releases of 3D films have performed less well and enough to question whether the total revenue was greater than a 3D the film would have had in 2D."

Universal will release its first 3D movie next summer, when animated comedy "Despicable Me" hits theaters July 9.

Dell, Toshiba and Gateway Core i3 laptops get revealed early, joined by Pine Trail netbooks

And just like that, the CES 2010 on-switch has been well and truly pressed. After HP, Sony and Lenovo all exposed their hardware to the world prematurely, it was inevitable that other companies would "accidentally" follow suit. Thanks to CNET's snooping, we're now staring at a trio of new Core i3 models from Dell, Toshiba and Gateway -- highlighted by an unannounced ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 powering a 1600 x 900 15-inch display on the Gateway, which also squeezes 500GB of storage under a shockingly low $692 price tag. On the Atom front, the Mini 210 is joined by a Toshiba NB305 -- sporting the N450, 250GB HDD, up to 11 hours' claimed battery life, and a $438 sticker -- as well as Gateway's effort with a smaller 160GB HDD but also suitably reduced $285 asking price. Hit the links below to get freshened up on all the juicy details.

Last year, the girls made their U.S. debut by opening all summer for the Jonas Brothers and their nationwide tour, giving the girls exposure to the American public and young tweens. Since then, the five members have released an English version of Nobody and also a remix by widely-known DJ / producer / remixer Jason Nevins. Kim Tae Hee talks about her ideal type and getting criticized

Kim Tae Hee was a guest on Entertainment Relay's corner Guerilla Date, where she talked about her ideal Hollywood actor and what it is like to be an actress.

She said, "When I get criticized for something I [believe] in, it hurts a lot. When there are rumors that do not make any sense or if people talk about me in a ridiculous way, it doesn't hurt at all."

I understand what she means because when you know you have a flaw, you definitely don't want others to point it out. But it's Kim Tae Hee, and half of the women population of Korea is jealous of her; of course they'd try to point out her flaws.

Then the interviewer asked her who her ideal type is out of Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, and George Clooney but she didn't pick any of those. She said, "I used to be a Tom Cruise fan but now I like Johnny Depp. He's very sexy."

She summed up the interview by stating her New Year's resolution, expressing, "I want to find the mature Kim Tae Hee inside of me. I want to remain pure and passionate like I am now. But I want to become more mature. I want to ask the viewers of IRIS to expect a lot."

Lady GaGa ‘Defends Adam Lambert From Homophobe’

Lady GaGa is one loyal friend!

The Poker Face hitmaker apparently lost her cool when a hideous homophobe criticized her for being friends with openly gay American Idol star Adam Lambert.

According to the National Enquirer, GaGa was partying with pals at Ottawa club Barrymore’s after a concert when the man confronted her.

The guy apparently approached the star and shouted, “I saw you and Adam Lambert on the AMA show, and the guy’s a flaming fa**ot — and I also think that you’re actually a MAN!”

GaGa replied, “Well, that’s your opinion, isn’t it? And I’m not about to waste my time trying to change it.”

The homophobe then slurred, “Well, don’t you care that you’re both going to HELL!”

Outraged, GaGa said, “No…not as long as I don’t have to see YOUR face there!”

The drunkard then screamed, “WELL, YOU’RE A FREAK…AND SO IS HE!”

Before leaving, the singer said, “Okay, that’s it! Call ME anything you want, but when you start calling my friends names, it’s OVER — it’s WAR!”

GaGa then poured a glass of wine over the homophobe and made a beeline for exit.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt ‘To Split in 2010′

Angelina Jolie’s relationship with Brad Pitt will be dead in the water by the end of 2010 — insiders claim.

Sources say tensions between the couple — who raise six children together — are so fierce, they won’t be able to stand each other any longer.

“Things are really bad between them,” a source close to Brangelina told American tabloid the National Enquirer. “The fights are getting worse and worse.

“In my opinion, it’s only a matter of time before they split up for good.”

Recent reports claimed bisexual Jolie told Pitt she wanted an open relationship — and he flipped out.

“Angie’s been hinting that she’s interested in seeing other people for a while, but Brad has resisted,” a source said.

“And it’s not just men that Angie wants to cheat with. She wants to give women another try too!

“When she openly said that’s what she wanted, Brad flipped out!”

Windows market share slide resumes

Windows 7, mobile operating systems make biggest gains

Microsoft's Windows resumed its usual losing form last month as the operating system's usage share dropped by about a third of a point even as the new Windows 7 posted a second straight month of impressive gains, Web metrics firm Net Applications said Friday.

Although rival desktop operating systems -- Mac and Linux -- essentially remained flat, mobile OSes, including Google's Android and Apple's iPhone OS, took up the slack created by Windows' dip. Mobile operating systems, said Net Applications, now power 1.3% of all the hardware that surfs the Internet.

Windows finished the year with a 92.2% share, down 0.3 of a percentage point. It was the eighth month in 2009 during which Windows lost share.

As it did in 2008, Windows' decline again accelerated in the second half of the year, when it lost 1.2 points of share. That compared to a drop of just 0.5 of a percentage point in the first six months of 2009. In 2008, Windows also lost more than twice as much share between July and December as it did in the preceding six months.

But the slip doesn't mean Windows is in any danger of losing its grip on the operating system market anytime soon: At the pace of the last 24 months, Windows would retain a majority share for another 27 years.

As in November, both Windows XP and Windows Vista lost share in December, while Windows 7 gained ground. Unlike in November, however, Windows 7 was unable to make up for the decline in Microsoft's older operating systems.

Windows XP slid 1.3 percentage points in December, its second-largest one-month decline ever. (The record remains November, when XP lost 1.4 points.) Vista, meanwhile, lost 0.7 of a percentage point, a single-month record, to end at 17.9%. December was the second month in a row that Vista lost share, and the third in the last four months, a trend that points to a permanent decline as users abandon it for Windows 7.

Still, the bulk of Microsoft's losses since the Windows 7 launch on Oct. 22 have been from Windows XP; the eight-year-old OS has lost 2.7 points in the last two months, while Vista has lost only 1 point.

Microsoft's newest OS, on the other hand, boosted its share by 1.7 percentage points to end December with 5.7%, meaning that approximately 1 out of every 18 machines on the Web ran Windows 7 last month. If it can keep up the pace of the last 60 days, Windows 7 will crack 7% this month, beating Vista to that number by six months.

Windows 7 also reached a milestone on Jan. 1, 2010, when it posted an 8% share for the day. The previous one-day record of 7.6% had been set on Dec. 27, 2009.

Apple's Mac OS X dipped for the second month in a row, finishing December with 5.1% after a decline of a statistically insignificant 0.01 of a percentage point. Most months, however, Mac OS X posts gains, not losses: December was only the fifth month of 2009 in which Apple's operating system lost share.

The winner, according to Net Applications: mobile operating systems, which accounted for 1.3% of all OSes powering devices that browsed the Internet in December. Although their shares remained small -- the largest was Java Platform, Micro Edition, with just 0.53%, followed by the iPhone OS with 0.44% -- month-over-month increases were dramatic in some cases. Google's Android operating system, for example, increased its share by nearly 56% between November and December, while RIM and the iPhone boosted their shares by 22% and 20%, respectively.

Net Applications measures operating system usage by tracking the machines that surf to the 40,000 sites it monitors for clients, which results in a pool of about 160 million unique visitors each month. It then weights share by the estimated size of each country's Internet population.

December's operating system data can be found on Net Applications' site.

The World Doesn’t Need Someone Telling Us What We Don’t Need In Tech

If Joe Wilcox ran the computer industry, we’d still be using typewriters.

Wilcox has a lengthy post today on BetaNews saying that the world doesn’t need an Apple tablet. And while Wilcox does have some decent general points mixed in with some bad ones, this is hardly a new thought. In fact, it’s little more than an extension of a concept that has been around for a while, but has been reinvigorated recently as the hype around Apple swirls: That tablet computers are a niche product. Of course, it’s easy to argue that when you have history on your side up until this point. But Wilcox’s post completely overlooks what is likely to be the larger point, and in general is a dangerous way of thinking.

Now, let me just state right off the bat, that Wilcox’s conclusion could absolutely be right: That Apple’s tablet device may well turn out to be a bust. While Apple has a great recent track record, a new product is still always going to be somewhat of a crapshoot, even for them. That said, Wilcox seems awfully close-minded about the product’s potential, and frames his argument around that. He argues, for example, that an Apple tablet will be little more than a less-compelling version of the iPhone because it is less portable. Meanwhile, users who want more computing power will continue to use laptops. Again, that’s the basic premise behind the most of the recent arguments against Apple’s tablet. But Wilcox doesn’t even for a second imagine something that is very obvious to most people who follow Apple closely: The likelihood that they’re going to release a product exactly as we’re currently thinking about it, is very small.

There is a reason that no less than Steve Jobs is said to be running point on this project, and has been for the several years that it has been in existence. The thought that Apple is simply going to settle, and release a product that is largely the same as all the other tablet computers that have come before it, is laughable. Jobs himself has supposedly shot down the product a few times because it wasn’t up to snuff. Don’t think that he won’t do it again, if he has to. But the indications now suggest that this product may finally be up to what he considers to be Apple’s standards. And if that’s the case, we can all expect something that’s at least somewhat unexpected.

And it’s potentially even bigger than that. Last week, I argued that the reason everyone is so excited about this tablet is because there is the very real possibility that it will alter the role of computing in our lives just as the iPhone has. Daring Fireball’s John Gruber took that concept further: “I think The Tablet is nothing short of Apple’s reconception of personal computing,” he wrote. While both of those concepts may sound a bit extreme, stop to think what is more likely: That Apple is happy to create a standard offering in a niche category, or that they’re trying to redefine the category and possibly the entire market?

It’s Apple, they’re trying to hit a homerun. That doesn’t mean they won’t strike out, but make no mistake that they are swinging for the fences. To create a bland tablet in the image of those that existed before it would be the equivalent of a bunt with no one on and two outs.

Something else to consider: There is the very real possibility that this could be Jobs’ last major new product launch. Health issues aside, Jobs will sooner or later retire from Apple. As we all know, products take a long time to come into existence from beginning to end — especially at Apple. And while I’m sure they have other new projects in the pipeline, it certainly seems possible that this tablet could be the last major one for a least a few years. Does anyone really think Jobs is going to go out betting on a niche product? No.

Wilcox argues that Apple’s recent hits like the iPod and iPhone were both just extensions of markets that already existed and were proven: Portable music players and mobile phones. That’s true, and Wilcox does acknowledge that Apple did make both of those markets better with their offerings. But he says that the tablet market won’t be the same because it’s “niche,” and Apple won’t be able to jump start it. Of course, this completely overlooks perhaps the best example: That Apple did jump start the personal computing revolution in the 1970s and 1980s. Before that, the best way to describe the PC was “niche.”

The most peculiar aspects of Wilcox’s post: His constant asking for readers to argue with him in the comments (we call this “baiting”), and his thought that if the tablet flops, it will demolish Apple’s stock price (I mean, it’s not like they’re making billions in profit each quarter off of all their other businesses and have more than enough leverage for even large risks now), simply distract from the rest of his post. Wilcox often likes to take the contrarian approach with regard to Apple, and that’s fine, it stirs interesting thoughts and discussions. But he’s often wrong, simply because it seems like he’s wants to reach a certain conclusion.

But all of this goes deeper still. The main problem I have with Wilcox’s post is the implication is that no company should step outside of its comfort zone. The arguments that Apple shouldn’t build a tablet simply because other companies have tried and failed in the past, or that they shouldn’t make a tablet because they failed with the Cube, are both troubling. Apple clearly believes that the future of computing is touch-based, and the tablet is a step in that direction. Maybe they’re wrong, but it would be a disservice to everyone to suggest they not even bother to try and find out. The potential upside is far too high. It’s the kind of stuff that keeps technology exciting and advancing.

Jennifer Aniston ‘Ignores Brad Pitt’s Texts’

Jennifer Aniston has infuriated her ex-husband Brad Pitt – by ignoring his text messages!

The actor — unhappy in his relationship with partner Angelina Jolie, the mother of his six kids — is desperately trying to contact his ex-wife for a shoulder to cry on.

But Aniston — who divorced Pitt in 2005 after he embarked on an affair with Jolie — just doesn’t care!

“Brad sent Jen a text, pleading for her to get in touch, but she simply ignored him,” a source told American tabloid the National Enquirer.

“Brad still pines for Jennifer badly, but she seems determined to cut him out of her life — once and for all.

“She thinks it’s pathetic how her ex continues to pretend to be happy with Angelina despite everything that’s going on between them.

“He’s proven to be totally spineless and incapable of standing up to Angelina’s temper tantrums and violent mood swings. Jen has lost all respect for him over the way he’s conducted himself.”

"Down With love" poster released : Jerry and Ella have feel

CTV and GTV Idol drama "Down with Love" will start airing next month, their poster just came out, and looking at the main lead Jerry Yan and Ella Chen wedding picture, it looked like they really held a grand wedding. Looking at this poster, Jerry felt it was romantic, saying "I remember at that time the weather had been bad for a few days, but when the day of the photoshot actually came, it became sunny since morning, looking very warm, and perfect to take wedding pictures."

About his future wedding setting, as he filmed many wedding scenes in dramas, outside of them, Jerry doesn't like extravagant ones, he'd rather have a simple wedding. And Ella, while seeing this wedding picture poster, immediately screamed out loud : " It looks so happy, but I think if I really get married it would be very bothersome ! "

She expressed that if she gets married in the future, she won't make something as complex, she will just have a civil marriage with her other half, inviting her best friends and closest family, and hold a simple wedding.

Xiao Xian also screamed "So pretty ! looks happy. " while seeing this poster and the happiness in it, it also made her more expectant about marriage, "I like to see this happiness with everyone gathering together." Xiao Xian feels that now there are less and less peopple getting married, so if she gets married she won't necessarly hold a big wedding, but she will make sure to invite her relatives and friends to share the happiness of getting married. Michael Zhang dreams to hold a parachuting wedding, saying "That's a once a liifetime thing, of course it needs to be special, making unforgetable memories about each other."

Jerry and Ella worked together for 5 months to film "Down with love", the 2 became really good friends, Ella even says : "There were times I wanted to act as Xiang Yu-Ping (Jerry's characther in the drama), because this characther's personality has a big contrast, very warm inside but cold outside. " And Jerry also admitted that this drama made him become much more lively, Ella says laughing, "It's good ! Continue like that, then, in the future if it doesn't work out with the female lead, you can find me."
Ella stated that she never thought she'd be able to work with Jerry who has a king status, but after dealing with him a few months, she described Jerry as a very lively person, it's only that he needs time.

Talking about the most memorable scene, just before wrapping up, the scene they filmed in a little house in the mountains was the most unforgetable. Ella says that because the weather was very hot, being locked in that steel made house made them sweating hard as soon as they came in, "So all the crew wanted to escape from that house as soon as possible." Because it was too hot, and they had to film at other places in the evening, Ella could only ask the neighbours to lend her their bathroom to shower, "But my sister unexpectedly bought some milk bath especially made for men, I still don't know how she got it."

Jerry joked : "I didn't film many dramas where you get to the hospital the day after filming."

Because they had to rush to finish all the scenes in order to wrap up, everyday they had to film until dawn, Jerry's left eye suddenly reddened and stated to swell but he could only put up with it and do his best to finish filming, waiting only for the next day to go to the hospital to get checked. Jerry says "For days my eye was swollen, but fortunately, the drama had wrapped up."

Lindsay Lohan Promises "Mayhem" in '10

Looks like troubled train wreck Lindsay Lohan wasn't resolving to put an end to her wild ways as she welcomed the arrival of 2010 on the posh island of St. Bart's.

In a New Year's tweet, Lohan wished her fans a "blessed new year," and said "Everyone get ready for more (but positive) LOHAN MAYHEM!!!" in the coming year.

We don't even want to know what that means.

In 2009, Linds battled estranged dad Michael, broke up with Samantha Ronson, became a complete fashion disaster, hooked up with lots of dudes and cried a lot.

If this year is anything like that, watch out!

In a slightly quieter mood Saturday, the so-called actress and designer resolved "to stop letting the lucky few that have my heart, try2constantly tear me down."

Well then. That clears that up.

She continues: "2010 is about moving forward, not backwards. Leaving the bad (people, habbits, and negative energy behind) time to make changes-right!? :)"

Very well said, Lindsay. We couldn't agree more. But remember that old "habbits" (such as forgetting to put on pants or eat for weeks at a time) die hard.

Everyone Wants a Piece of Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson's estate is doing pretty well these days, with the release of the album and film This Is It and the renewed interest in the late King of Pop in general.

But it's also dealing with claims adding up to tens of millions.

Soon enough, the list of people who claim Michael Jackson owed them money will be longer than his FBI file. Estimates are that the total claims exceed $20 million.

For starters, there's a $5 million claim from a memorabilia collector, and a $1 million claim from someone who wants a cut of Michael's epic "Thriller" music video.

Then there's a $2.3 million claim from Dr. Tohme Tohme and a $1.5 million claim from a law firm (multiple law firms are trying to claim a piece of MJ's estate).

That does not mean the estate will pay all the claims, as the executors will make that determination (and can only be overruled if a judge orders them to pay).

Among the self-proclaimed family members likely to be shut down:
Prince Michael Malachi Jet Jackson
Claire Elisabeth Fields Cruise
Billie Jean Jackson
Helen Harris-Scott
Joe Jackson

Tiffany Hsu fantasises about marrying Ethan Ruan; cries for half an hour

Tiffany Hsu & boyfriend Ethan Ruan’s relationship is very stable. Earlier, in SETTV idol drama ‘Autumn’s Concerto’, she had a scene where she wears a wedding dress, and cries for almost half an hour, and afterwards was unable to stop!

Tiffany said that she was too immersed in the scene, and so she couldn’t stop crying: “On my wedding day, I will probably hug my mum and cry non-stop!” Tiffany also has fantasies about her own wedding going for the Western-style route; getting married in a church and inviting all her friends & family to attend the ceremony.

This year, Tiffany spent New Years on the roof at a ‘friend’s house, while watching the 101 fireworks. Currently, Vanness Wu is in America & Ady An is in China. ‘Autumn’s Concerto’ ratings reached 6.64 last week but second male lead Chris Wu is yet to fulfil his diving promise. SETTV expressed that they want to get all the cast together, and will definitely not break their promise.
