Shrek Forever After premiere: Cameron Diaz is no ogre in sexy little red dress

Her animated character Princess Fiona may well struggle to pull off a sexy little red dress.

But stunning Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz, who provides the voice for the bossy ogre, had absolutely no trouble.

The 37-year-old actress showed off her incredibly long legs in the revealing Oscar de la Renta frock at the Los Angeles premiere of Shrek: Forever After last night.

Diaz teamed her leggy look with a pair of skyscraper heels, wearing her long blonde hair over one shoulder.

The movie, which this time round is in 3D, is the fourth in the popular animated franchise from DreamWorks and will hit cinemas in the UK on July 2 (May 21 in the U.S.)

Five Years In, YouTube Is Now Streaming Two Billion Views Per Day

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been five years since YouTube launched and changed the way people share video online (it was acquired by Google a year and a half later). To celebrate its birthday, YouTube has just announced a major new milestone: it’s streaming a whopping two billion views per day (the company notes that this is “nearly double the prime-time audience of all three major US television networks combined”).

To help commemorate the occasion, YouTube is also launching a new channel of videos called “My YouTube Story”, which includes a collection of clips featuring people around the world talking about how YouTube has changed their lives. The initial batch of clips were filmed by documentary filmmaker Stephen Higgins, and some of them are quite touching. YouTube users can upload their own video stories as well; YouTube will be plotting these videos on a global map, and will also offer an interactive timeline of clips.

We should point out that YouTube announced it had passed 1 billion views a day in October 2009, but that number was probably a bit lower than the actual figure — we had reported that it had crossed 1.2 billion views a day the previous June.

HP bought Palm after a five-company bidding war

Palm and HP seem like the happiest of corporate couples right now, but theirs was a heated courtship: according to Palm's latest statement to shareholders, a total of 16 companies were contacted about a deal, and HP was the winner of a month-long bidding war that involved serious offers from five companies -- a bidding war that involved Jon Rubinstein personally warning HP that it had to "significantly and immediately" increase its offer to remain in the game. What's more, HP's winning bid came in at just 20 cents a share more than its primary rival. Yeah, it's juicy -- read on for the full blow-by-blow.

Big Bang lets loose “Tell Me Goodbye” music video!

It’s been entirely too long since we’ve seen the young men of Big Bang together in a music video, but YG Entertainment has finally delivered the official MV for the quintet’s Japanese track Tell Me Goodbye! As we earlier reported, this track was was made for IRIS’s Japanese OST.

Although the mood of the music video itself is quite melancholy, I’m sure VIPs will be overjoyed to see all five members performing again, so without further delay, check out the music video here!

4minute shakes things up with BEAST for comeback MV teaser!

It’s been a while, but 4minute is back at long last with the teaser for their comeback music video!

It’s been established with their past hits Hot Issue and Muzik that these ladies know how to rock the sexy look, and this time around, they’ve done it again with a badass street concept that I think many fans are going to love. And to amp the excitement up even further, fellow Cube Entertainment artists BEAST are playing a significant feature role in both the track and music video. Talk about getting double the eye candy!

Android for iPod Touch Coming Soon

With Android running just fine on an iPhone, the next logical step would be something like Android for iPod touch—and it totally is! Coming soon: Android for iPod touch.

The hack is brought to you by the same chaps that did the initial Android on iPhone ditty back in early May. No exact date is given for the release, although the Linux for iPhone guys seem to think it (the binaries) will arrive at the same time as Android for iPhone 3G.

NSFW: Leave Britney Alone! (Whereby Britney I mean Steve, Mark and Jimbo)

There’s the unmistakable smell of revolution in the air this week. And if I were Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg or Jimmy ‘Jimbo’ Wales I’d be keeping an eye out for angry French peasants dragging guillotines.

For Jobs, the rebellion is opening up across several flanks: from once-loyal partners like Adobe bitter over Apple’s decision not to support Flash to once-loyal journalists penning op-eds about heavy-handed treatment of the fourth estate and blanket censorship of adult content on the iPad. For Zuckerberg, as I wrote last week, it’s the continuing user-generated outcry over privacy. For Wales it’s an alleged mutiny by wiki editors over his decision to unilaterally delete hardcore pornography from Wikipedia.

In each case the specifics are different but the thrust is the same: having built hugely successful and popular companies in their own image, some of technology’s leading visionaries are coming under attack from the people who were once their biggest allies.

It’s worth pointing out that, for all their ferocity, the attacks are having little noticeable effect on the performance of the companies concerned: all three continue to go from strength to strength. But clearly for the founders themselves there’s a real impact. Last Tuesday, it was reported (although later denied) that Wales has voluntarily surrendered almost all of his editing privileges over Wikipedia, reducing his status to that of a junior editor. For his part, the normally unflappable Jobs has taken to protracted and snippy late night exchanges with a Valleywag writer who asked “If Dylan was [sic] 20 today, how would he feel about your company?” Zuckerberg’s suffering, meanwhile, is positively Alighierian: with leaked email exchanges and a Hollywood movie conspiring to destroy any last vestiges of privacy that the 26-year-old enjoys. I suspect all three have stopped reading their Google News alerts.

Miley warned to keep ‘Dancing’ tune tame

Miley Cyrus’ march toward shedding her Hannah Montana image continues Tuesday night on “Dancing With the Stars” when she performs her song “Can’t Be Tamed” for the first time on live television.

In light of a video which shows a then 16-year-old Cyrus giving a lap dance to the producer of her film, “The Last Dance,” there’s talk that she's under orders from ABC to keep “Can’t Be Tamed” clean.

“Her rehearsals of the song have been fine, but the show is on live but when Adam Lambert rehearsed for the American Music Awards, he didn’t do anything controversial during rehearsals, either,” said one source, referring to the sexually suggestive choreography Lambert performed during the live awards show. “(Cyrus has) been told that she can be herself, but there’d better not be any surprises.”

Representatives for “DWTS” had no comment.

Why Kate Hudson Shouldn't Mess With Cameron Diaz

Kate Hudson better watch her tongue when it comes to Cameron Diaz. Apparently, Kate is a little bit jealous that her ex, Alex Rodriguez, has moved on so quickly with the actress, and pals close to Kate told the New York Post that Hudson thinks Diaz is seeing A-Rod because she is "struggling to remain sexy and relevant."

Meowch! OK, Kate, calm your pretty little head down and here's why ...

NBC Preps for The Office Without Steve Carell and a Possible Heroes Movie & more

Can you picture The Office without Steve Carell? Yeah, we can't either, but NBC's top brass just filled us in about their plans in light of his recent admission he's ready to walk. And gave you Heroes fans a teensy bit of hope too...

For the record, the Peacock net peeps seem just as willing to let Steve Carell abandon Dunder Mifflin as we fans are. "We hope we can keep him around for a long time," NBC's primetime entertainment president Angela Bromstad told reporters today. However, Steve's contract is up at the end of the 2010-11 season, and he told BBC Radio "I think that will probably be my last year."

NBC Uni TV Entertainment chairman Jeff Gaspin added: "The Office is a great ensemble show, and the producers are preparing in the event he chooses to move on." So who would fill his shoes? Any ideas?

Meanwhile, NBC has decided to pull Heroes off the air as a series, but Bromstad says she'll talk soon with executive producer and creator Tim Kring about doing some kind of TV event to wrap up storylines. No dates yet. No details. Just that it could be a two-hour movie in 2011. It sounds as though nothing has been discussed yet with Kring himself so…we'll see.

Palm Pre Plus launched on AT&T

The boardroom drama behind the HP acquisition wasn't the only Palm news today -- the company also launched the AT&T Palm Pre Plus. No surprises here -- it's going to $149, decidedly more than Verizon's $29 with free Mobile Hotspot service -- but hey, at least it's out there, and you get a free Touchstone in the deal, so that's nice.

Eddie to take over Ethan's new drama role?

For an unconfirmed drama project titled “鍾無艷” (Wu Yen), recent rumors have surfaced that SETTV is looking to cast Ethan Ruan and Cheryl Yang again as couples. Unfortunately, drama fans of “My Queen” will not be able to see this popular pairing again as Ethan has turned down the offer. Thus, SETTV is now turning towards the newly actor-turned-singer Eddie Peng to take over. It won’t be the first time for Eddie and Cheryl to work together because they have previously been in the CTS drama, “我只在乎你” (Only You, 2005).

Previous rumors pointed out that Cheryl and SETTV’s relationship turned sour after she turned down acting in “那一年的幸福時光” (The Happy Times of That Year). Now SETTV hopes to rebuild their good relationship as they hope to cast Cheryl in the new drama project. Although the project is still unconfirmed, Eddie’s management company reveals that they have indeed been contacted, but it is still in discussion. Eddie is currently in the midst of promoting his new debut album.

'Iron Man' is No. 1 in USA, but 'Robin Hood' plays well overseas

Robin Hood wasn't supposed to beat Iron Man 2. And it didn't.

Iron Man 2 took top honors in the USA and Canada, raking in $53 million, according to Hollywood.com. The comic book adaptation has done $212 million in 10 days and is on track to eclipse its predecessor, which did $318 million in 2008.

But Robin Hood also has a claim to the throne. While the film did $37.1 million domestically — good for No. 2 — it did another $74 million overseas, giving it a worldwide haul of $111.1 million.

More results, including the debuts of Letters to Juliet and Just Wright:

• To quibble with success, Iron Man 2 did not hold up as well as its predecessor. The original Robert Downey Jr. film showed great legs in its second weekend, with ticket sales falling less than 50 percent from its big opening weekend. Iron Man 2 was down nearly 60 percent from its, granted, even bigger opening weekend.

• Sure, projections shouldn't be taken seriously, but… If you must know, Iron Man 2 was expected to make about $60 million this weekend. Robin Hood was supposed to hit at least $40 million.

Lily Allen says she's quitting music for five years and wants to be pregnant by the end of the year

Lily Allen has vowed to give up her music career for five years because she wants to start a family.

It’s not the first time the Brit-Award winning singer has threatened to quit the music industry but now she wants to become pregnant before the end of this year.

The 25-year-old, who is in a relationship with painter and decorator Sam Cooper, gushed: ‘I’d like to have a child within a year.

‘It’ll be a minimum of four or five years before I make a record again.’

Despite being one of Britain’s most successful female artists, selling more than 2.4 million copies of her first album, Allen says the idea of settling down and having children is more of a priority.

She’s only been dating her 44-year-old boyfriend for nine months but they are set to start trying for a baby right away.

Lindsay Lohan 'Threw a Fit' -- and a Drink -- in NYC

Lindsay Lohan "threw a fit" last night in a New York City club, tossing a drink into a model's face, according to a New York Post source. The model was with New York Rangers player Aaron Voros.

Voros, his girlfriend, and Rangers teammate Sean Avery were seated at a prime table at club 10ak. Lohan "wanted to be at their table near the DJ," one of the Post's multiple witnesses reports. LiLo didn't want to sit with Voros, alleging he was her ex-boyfriend and she didn't want him near her.

Voros denied knowing Lohan, pushing her over the edge to throw a drink into his model girlfriend's face. Lohan demanded the entire table be moved out. Bouncers refused her and Lohan left shortly after.

"There was total drama for absolutely no reason," a Post source said.

My take on the iPad: No Flash is foolish

I like the iPad. A lot. But the iPad's lack of support for Adobe Flash is a blight on an otherwise great product.

Steve Jobs' Adobe-is-not-open letter means nothing to the average user of the iPad. To them, it's much more simple: Hey, wait a minute, this is a media consumption product, why doesn't this thing run a lot of the Flash sites I use every day?

Yeah, I know, Flash can be buggy. And no one is being forced at gunpoint into an Apple store to buy the iPad. But a lot of people who buy the device are oblivious to this limitation. Besides, I'm going to complain anyway because I think it's an unnecessary (did I say stupid?) omission from an otherwise solid design.

One of the biggest shockers for me after I bought the iPad was the number of Web sites and applications that, for better or worse, use Flash. In other words, it's not something I consciously thought about much until I couldn't actually view the videos on the iPad.

Microsoft's Too Late to Reach Cloud, Google Says

Of the challenges that could keep Google from reaching its goal of using Google Docs to move into the enterprise, Microsoft may be one of the biggest barriers.

Google and rival Microsoft are battling on several fronts: search, browsers, operating systems and office software. And the office software front is heating up as Google continues to push Google Docs to the forefront of cloud computing and Microsoft readies to move its ubiquitous Office suite into the cloud as well.

However, Dave Girouard, president of Google's enterprise division, tells Computerworld that when it comes to competition, there's Microsoft and then there's ... well, there's Microsoft. But he seems to be really looking forward to locking horns with his Redmond, Wash., counterparts.

Rumor puts the myTouch 3G Slide’s price at $150

With only a few weeks to go before sales officially kick off, retail pricing for T-Mobile’s myTouch 3G Slide has leaked out. Pegged at $399.99 on an Even More Plus plan and $149.99 with an Even More plan after $50 MIR, there’s also an option to pay $23 per month over 20 months (apparently the $3 monthly premium nets you $60 worth of accessories). A part of us wants to be believe that this information is correct and the actual pricing will be a bit lower, but considering its the same price T-Mobile is currently asking for the original and slide-less myTouch 3G, we’re not about to risk holding our breath. The myTouch 3G Slide was initially rumored to land on June 2nd, but some people who claim to be in the know are now calling for a June 16th release.
