Mel Gibson is hardly famous for his stress-management skills, so you've got to pity the person who delivered the latest news in his legal battle with Oksana Grigorieva: A judge has determined that the Oscar winner should be paying his ex-girlfriend $20,000 in child support payments each month -- instead of $5,000.The mother of 11-month-old Lucia was awarded the $15,000-per-month increase on Thursday afternoon.
One of Grigorieva's attorneys, Daniel Horowitz, told TMZ, "Everything in Hollywood is to excess. Mel Gibson is worth upwards of $1 billion. It's a very modest award by Hollywood standards and a very high award by normal people standards."
Many "normal people" may be tuning in when Grigorieva sits down with Oprah, to hear what baby-related expenses require that much money. Security has been cited as a legitimate need, to protect the child as the broken family deals with ravenous paparazzi.
And while Gibson's shocking rages toward the mother of his eighth child help illuminate what drove the two apart, curiosity has been escalating (thanks to conflicting reports) about Grigorieva's previous romance with actor Timothy Dalton. Was it another abusive relationship, or wasn't it?
Investigators reportedly possess an email from Grigorieva to Gibson, in which she once claimed that Dalton (with whom she was involved for ten years before she met Gibson) was physically abusive -- a document allegedly provided to authorities by Gibson's camp, in order to demonstrate a history on his ex's part of accusing her significant others of violence.
Meanwhile, Grigorieva's camp have vehemently denied the claim, and Dalton insists that he remains close friends with his ex, with whom he has a 13-year-old son.
"Mel Gibson is not half the man Tim Dalton is," Horowitz recently told TMZ.

With more than $8 million earnings on Friday night, The Social Network is destined for a first place finish at the weekend box office. How much it earns by Sunday night is still an open question, with estimates ranging from $21 million to $27 million. Even if the result is at the low end of that spread, Social Network will win the weekend easily. Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, The Legend of the Guardians: Owls of Ga’Hoole, and The Town all have a shot at $10 million for the weekend, with each earning around $3 million on Friday night.
