Miley Cyrus 'Can't Be Tamed' Has Arrived

It's a big day for pop music! On the heels of Christina Aguilera's latest raunch-fest comes Miley Cyrus' anthemic new single, announcing she simply "can't be tamed." The song, which premiered on a local radio station this afternoon before making the rounds on YouTube, has all the tropes of a Disney starlet seeking artistic freedom, with Hollywood Records calling it a "self-empowering song" that comes as a "natural progression and sophistication" for the 'Hannah Montana' star. Sounds like someone wants you to know she's "not that innocent."

"And if you try to hold me back, I might explode," Cyrus warns. Well, we certainly aren't stopping her. Listen to Miley's new single 'Can't Be Tamed' after the jump.

AMERICAN IDOL: Save Siobhan

Efforts are underway to petition for Siobhan Magnus to return to the Kodak Theater stage after a Facebook post by American Idol was rumored to have included the wrong phone numbers for voting.

A link to the online petition to bring her back was sent to Barnstable High School Drama Club director John Sullivan around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night (April 28). The night the Marstons Mills native was voted off the national TV show.

Sullivan has been spreading the word.

To view the petition click here. According to the online document, the phone numbers posted to vote for Siobhan Magnus on Facebook were the two numbers reserved for fellow contestant Aaron Kelly.

HP tablet not so dead after all?

Color us curious; while yesterday’s TechCrunch article claiming HP have axed their Windows 7 slate project has been widely reported, the company itself has remained stubbornly quiet. Now, Netbooknews has heard from its own source at HP that in fact the tablet hasn’t been axed; in fact, the source says it’s “very, very improbable if not even an impossible piece of news!”

That same source has apparently been keeping them updated on the various minutia of the tablet project – down to the design of the packaging – and while we don’t know their identity we also know Netbooknews to be a trusted source of mobile computing information. Right now, given the amount of speculation around HP and their recent Palm acquisition – and our own excitement at the possibility of a webOS based tablet – it’s entirely possible that this whole chapter could turn out to be untrue. We’re still waiting on an official comment from HP themselves.

iPad 3G Test Notes

The iPad 3G is the iPad I've been waiting for. It's got two things the regular iPad doesn't: 3G internet from AT&T and assisted GPS. The results we got from testing might surprise you, I think. Updated.

3G Speed Tests

The real story with iPad 3G isn't the numbers, which you can probably predict. The iPad's 3G speeds are solid, great even, and the gulf between loading pages over Wi-Fi and 3G is predictably vast. But even though the performance of the iPad and the 3GS over the same AT&T 3G network were almost identical, the iPad felt slow, mainly because of how much faster the iPad's CPU can render pages. It was waiting for data that was just trickling in.

TVXQ JaeChunSu’s dome concert receives over 1 million ticket applicants

After the breaking news that SM Entertainment would file a lawsuit against JaeChunSu (Jaejoong, Yoochun, Junsu) of TVXQ / DBSK / Tohoshinki, it has been announced that the infamous trio would be holding a concert to thank their fans.

Earlier this month on the 15th, TVXQ’s Japanese label Avex announced, “It has been decided that the three members will become a unit. To convey their gratitude for the fans, they will be holding a Dome Live event.” However, as the tickets were in high demand, they held a drawing to distribute the tickets to eager fans. They accepted applications on the tickets from the 19th to the 22nd.

It seems as if the fans have been “keeping the faith” as, to everyone’s surprise, they received over one million ticket applicants! The Vice President of Avex relayed his shock through this message on his blog, “I think there will be many fans who will be disappointed at the drawing results. We’ve received over one million applicants. Please understand us.”

On the 28th, the first round of results was posted. From the original one million applicants, only 18 people were chosen.

Eddie Peng uses Tiffany Hsu to take revenge on Ethan Ruan

Having broken into the music scene, Eddie Peng is once again making another MV called "Summer Around the Corner 轉角的夏天". The last time, he had grumbled about his good friend Ethan Ruan not keeping his promise to help out with his first EP, Must Love, due to Ethan's busy schedule. Thus, this time, Eddie asked Tiffany Hsu, Ethan's girlfriend, to help out as "revenge." Tiffany revealed, "When I found out that there was a kissing scene, I thought to myself: I'm a goner. I will definitely mess up."
However, during filming, Eddie and Tiffany overcame the embarrassment and gave off a the feeling of a couple passionately in love. Even the director praised their acting skills as top quality. Eddie commented that he had to act out kissing scenes before when he didn't even know the girl, so naturally he had to be professional.

Michelle McGee: I Am "Shocked" Sandra Bullock Adopted Baby

Michelle McGee's take on Sandra Bullock adopting a 3 1/2-month-old boy from New Orleans?

"I was really shocked," she said Friday on the nationally syndicated Johnjay and Rich radio show.

During her 11-month fling with Jesse James last year, she said she had "no idea" the biker, 41, and Bullock, 45, had begun the adoption process.

She said she never paid attention to celeb news until she began having an affair with James, 41. Seeing him and Bullock, 45, getting cuddly at the Oscars in January, "I was like, 'Whoa, what the heck?!'" she said. (McGee has said that James told her numerous times that his marriage to Bullock was "a sham.")

During the interview, McGee, 32, slammed James.

Adam Lambert Goes Platinum

Take note, Adam Lambert haters: you can't keep this singer down!

The former American Idol finalist has been criss-crossing Europe all week, promoting his debut CD there - and it's paying off big time

According to the latest charts, “Whataya Want From Me” is number-one in Germany this week, while the single also just went platinum in America. Tweeted Adam in response:

“Thank you so much for supporting me! I feel so f—-n lucky!"

Official Twitter app launched for phones running Android 2.1 and later

Twitter has been around for quite a long while and so has Android, but there hasn’t been an official Twitter app for users of Android phones who like to share the minutiae of their every thoughts every minute of every day. Until now, that is.

The Twitter team has just announced through their official blog that Twitter for Android is already available in the Android marketplace, and it serves its purpose as a convenient way to delivery tweets straight from a user’s phone while offering tight integration with other services and Android features.

Twitter for Android enables users to access tweets with a special home screen widget, as well as while viewing maps, scanning the phonebook, or any application that uses Android’s QuickContact bar. It’s well thought out indeed. Only niggle is, the app only works on phones running Android 2.1 and later.

Free Android phones coming to Adobe employees

This will come as little surprise to anyone who followed technology news this week, but let there be no doubt about the preferred smartphone platform at Adobe: it isn't the iPhone.

Adobe confirmed Thursday that it plans to demonstrate a version of Flash for Google's Android software in May at the Google I/O conference, in responding to Apple CEO Steve Jobs' criticism of Flash in an open letter. And the company wants to make sure its employees use those phones: it's preparing to give away Android phones running Flash to employees, according to three sources familiar with the plan.

It's not clear which phone employees will receive (various HTC phones and the Nexus One were mentioned) and it will not be a mandatory shift. But in the time-honored technology industry practice of "dog-fooding" one's own products, Adobe and Google want to encourage Adobe employees to spend as much time using Android and the Flash Player 10.1 as possible.

Next Batman film to swoop into theaters in 2012

A sequel to "The Dark Knight" will swoop into theaters in 2012.

Warner Bros. scheduled July 20, 2012, as the release date for the next installment of the Batman film franchise.

Director Christopher Nolan brought the Caped Crusader back to the big screen in 2005's "Batman Begins" and 2008's "The Dark Knight," which earned over $1 billion worldwide and garnered Heath Ledger a posthumous Oscar for his role as The Joker.

No other details about the film were announced Friday.

Motorola Shadow specs; details on Motorola Droid 2 for Verizon

Just a few hours ago, we were telling you that the Motorola Shadow might be the Moto MB810, which recently received a Wi-Fi certification.

We now have more news on the Shadow. According to this post at Mobile-review, the Shadow doesn’t have a QWERTY keyboard, and the QWERTY device that we’ve presented as being the Shadow is actually called Motorola Droid 2.

The Shadow and the Droid 2 will both have 4.3 inch full WVGA (854 x 480) touchscreen displays.

MeeGo-based LG GW990 won’t be commercially available

First showcased by LG in January this year, the LG GW990 will apparently not hit the market, ever.

LG initially said that the GW990 would be launched in the second half of 2010. When the handset was unveiled, it had Moblin on it, and it was LG’s first device to be powered by Intel’s Moorestown processor.

Since Moblin was merged with Maemo in February to become MeeGo, the GW900 should have made the transition too, and feature MeeGo at launch. However, it looks like LG thinks that further developing the GW990 is not a good idea, as it has just told Phone Arena that the device was merely a concept and it won’t be available for purchase.

Joey Yung Accepts One Night Stand, Denise Ho Feels Disgusted

Joey Yung, Denise Ho, and Wilfred Lau accepted interviews by Big 4 (William So, Andy Hui, Edmond Leung, and Dick Cheung) for new show "Big4大四喜," talking about stories after getting drunk, ways to deal with paparazzi, and views on getting along with opposite sex. Joey expressed she would pursue guys she like, and will call him after exchanging phone numbers. She said her ex-boyfriend is an example.

As for one night stand, Denise felt disguised. She believes one can't reach that type of relationship without affections. But Joey said: "If he is someone I really love, and he can only give me this one opportunity, I think I can accept it." Andy disclosed once he was out of the country for a job and a female invited him to chat in her room. But in the end he didn't do anything with that female.

New “Sex And The City 2″ Poster Features All Four Stars

The gang’s all here: Just a few more weeks until a brigade of Manolos and Cosmos descend on the box office once again. Sex And The City 2 – the sequel to 2008’s hit chick flick — opens in theaters on May 27 and the latest promo poster for the eagerly-awaited film hit the blogosphere Friday.

Don’t get too excited — like its predecessors, the poster looks like something snatched straight out of the Little Shop of Photoshop Horrors.

But on a more positive note, this poster features the entire Fab Foursome: Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte. The first two teasers only highlighted Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie, so it’s nice to see the other ladies getting in on the action, too.

'X-Men' Exclusive: Fox offers Matthew Vaughn 'X-Men: First Class'

In a move that may tilt the axis of fanboys worldwide, Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn is in talks to direct X-Men: First Class for Twentieth Century Fox. Why is this so bizarre? Because Vaughn is the very director who turned down directing X-Men: The Last Stand back in 2005 after he had already negotiated his deal with the studio. (Fox later hired Brett Ratner to helm the most successful of all X-Men films.) Vaughn went on to direct the disappointing Stardust for Paramount and, just two weeks ago, released the well-reviewed R-rated Kick-Ass.

Of course, considering Vaughn’s history with the X-Men franchise, he could very well turn down the First Class offer, as well (sources say the studio is also speaking with other possible directors). Should a deal come together, however, Vaughn would be helming an origin story of the X-Men crew, one that tells the story of Cyclops, Jean Grey, and the other X-Men in their younger years, played by younger actors. (No word yet on whether Hugh Jackman would reprise his role as Wolverine since his character doesn’t age as the others do.) The script comes from Jamie Moss based on Bryan Singer’s treatment. Though the studio had wanted Singer to direct once again, the director is only signed on to produce, since he’s preoccupied with directing Jack the Giant Killer for Warner Bros.

Tech Irony: Yahoo CEO Says Google Needs Help

Yahoo, oh Yahoo. Sometimes, you just make it too easy.

The company that's given us more punchlines than Kate Gosselin on a dance floor is back at it again. This time, Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz is dishing out advice to Google, saying she thinks the search giant -- you know, the one that's soared while Yahoo has floundered -- may be in trouble.

Rimshot, anyone?

Yahoo's Bartz on Google

Ms. Yahoo's remarks come to us by way of an interview with the BBC News published on Thursday. In the interview, Bartz says Google will have to "do a lot more than search" if it wants to stay in the game.

ASUS CEO: netbooks will outsell tablets, Eee Pad to run 'Microsoft software'

ASUS CEO Jerry Shen sure is making the rounds this week talking up the company's upcoming entry into the tablet arena, but before giving up some more Eee Pad details he clarified that he doesn't anticipate tablet sales surpassing that of netbooks. The latter category is for personal computing while tablets are based on consuming content and Cloud computing. Shen said something similar when we spoke with him at CeBIT, but this time he also added that without Apple the tablet category would have been slower to ramp up. We'd say he's on the money with that one, but still he plans to launch an Eee tablet in early June at Computex. And though he mentioned there being a few versions, he revealed the "first phase will use Microsoft software." We don't know if that means the the tablet will be Intel powered and run Windows 7, or pack a Tegra 2 processor and boot some version of Windows CE like we saw at CES. Regardless of what happens, we'd say Microsoft's happy to hear this all after this week's news.

New Christina Aguilera Music Video: Too Sexy?

On June 8, Christina Aguilera will release her new album, "Bionic."

But the singer announced her return to the music business loudly, proudly and provocatively this week: she posted the video for "Not Myself Tonight" online.

In the video below, and in the still shot from it seen here, the singer embraces her inner dominatrix. She recently said: “I’m more confident and comfortable in my own skin. I think I’m even a more sexual Christina."

That's incredible news for warm-blooded males around the world, but it's stirring up some criticisms of Christina on the Web.

After all, she's a mother now. What will she tell her son Max when he sees her acting in such a manner?

Rihanna's in the mood for love as she shoots sumptuous new video in a French château

Rihanna was clearly in the mood for love as she appeared on the set of her new video.

The Bajan singer ditched her usual edgy, scantily-clad outfits for a romantic, flowing maxi dress as she shot the promo for her new single Te Amo.

Currently in France for her Last Girl On Earth world tour, Rihanna took time out of gigging to film the video in the scenic location of a French château.

After performing at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy on Wednesday night, Rihanna was up bright and early the following morning to shoot the promo at a château in the nearby town of Vigny.

RIM oust Motorola from top 5 phone vendors; Samsung see major growth

Motorola have dropped out of the top five worldwide mobile phone manufacturers ranking, according to analysts IDC, with RIM taking their place. The move – which pegs Nokia in first place, followed by Samsung in second, LG in third and RIM sharing fourth place with Sony Ericsson – is being described as a sign of growing smartphone demand. Motorola, who have been a member of the top five since IDC began tracking worldwide quarterly figures in 2004, shipped 8.5m handsets in the three month period at the start of 2010; in contrast, RIM shipped 10.6m.

Western Europe has shown a strong pick-up in both smartphones and featurephones, while interest in the former was high in both the US and Canada. However, both countries saw decline, with only a renewed interest in messaging-centric featurephones keeping things buoyant. Asia/Pacific, meanwhile, saw strong growth, predominantly due to entry-level smartphone sales in the Chinese market.

iPad is a real "killer"

Tech pundits throw around the word “killer” far too readily, but it seems that Apple’s iPad is really a “killer” tablet. So far, there have been two casualties …

What makes the iPad a “killer”? Well, it’s already killed some of its potential competition.

First to bite the dirt sandwich was Microsoft’s “Courier” tablet. A two-screen folding device that was never officially announced or acknowledged, and now never will be. It’s dead. Microsoft pulled the plug on the project yesterday. The reason? Well, that’s not really given. but it’s hard not to think that the success of the iPad, and how much momentum it’s achieved.

Then there’s HP’s Slate. This device first made an appearance at CES in January alongside Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. Now it appears to be dead. The rumored reason is that HP isn’t happy with with Windows 7 as a touch OS. This was a concern of mine back in March. But it’s odd that the plug is pulled on the device so late in the day because of a weakness that should have been apparent early on in the project.

2PM and SNSD go Baywatch for Caribbean Bay

Yesterday we brought you a little sneak peek into 2PM and SNSD’s upcoming CF for Everland’s Caribbean Bay. Now we have even more photos!

This time we have a few official photos of the two groups together and some behind-the-scene photos of the CF being filmed.

This joint collaboration between one of the hottest male and female groups definitely results in some sexy goodness as Nichkhun, Taecyeon and Chansung show off their muscular topless bodies while Seohyun, Yoona and Yuri flaunt their well toned figures in tight white t-shirts and shorts; creating a very “Baywatch” like theme.

Rainie attacks Arena too vigorously, loses sleep every night

"Cute Princess" Rainie Yang successfully controlled the stage at the Taipei Arena last Saturday, showing her flexibility and ballet skills that awed her fans. Finally having achieved her dream, she was extremely happy, and her sugar high lasted her through the next week after the concert, causing her to lose sleep almost every night. Every time she closed her eyes, she would hear the beating of her heart, "and I could see the concert over and over again".

Shields her emotions onstage, feels elated inside

After a full 10 years, Rainie completed her fantasy of "A Wild Fantasy Concert" by rehearsing nonstop, ignoring rolled ankle injuries, and constant nightmares due to intense pressure. Before her opening, she also suffered from a heavy flu, and her condition was all over the place. It wasn't until her concert ended that she finally believed that her beautiful dream had finally come true, and could finally rest at home, but she couldn't even fall asleep! "Because I'm just too excited! I close my eyes and all I can see is the concert." She said that she was trying to hide her emotions while onstage, because she didn't want her fans to see her cry, but inside she had already cried many tears of joy.

Tech Roundup : 3G JooJoo, Nokia N8 sticks, Symbian^3 web app & Hanvon tablet

Fusion Garage pledges 3G JooJoo by July, memory stick support coming soon

Yeah, okay, so the JooJoo didn't exactly rock our world and we're guessing it's had a similar effect on you, but CEO Chandra Rathakrishnan is saying that things are going to get better -- honest. First are plans to unlock that USB port, enabling the tablet to recognize USB storage and revolutionize the world. Next up will be a 3G version, which will release in roughly three months and enable users to revolutionize the world while traveling through it. However, Chandra has indicated he's not opposed to people tweaking the underlying Linux OS to enable external 3G adapters themselves; certainly a refreshing position compared to those who control the destiny of a certain other tablet. So, which of you hackers wants to get started? Anyone...?

Microsoft takes H.264 stand in Web video debate

Deepening a rift in a key Web standards debate, Microsoft said Thursday that Internet Explorer 9 will support the variety of Web video Apple built into Safari but not the one embraced by Firefox and Opera.

"In its HTML5 support, IE9 will support playback of H.264 video only," Internet Explorer General Manager Dean Hachamovitch said in a blog post. His reasons for the support: the format is widely used in the computing industry, from video cameras to Google's YouTube, it benefits from hardware decoding support that improves performance, and there are questions about the rights to use H.264's chief rival today, Ogg Theora.

HTML5 video is a key feature in the Web page standard that's in the process of being overhauled after years of dormancy. Today, online video is delivered mostly through Adobe Systems' Flash Player, which can use H.264 behind the scenes to decode video, but Microsoft is in the process of joining Web technology advocates who hope to reproduce much of what Flash can do without proprietary plug-ins. Through this Web technology effort, the argument goes, video can become as ordinary on the Web as photos are today.

But the Web video vision is significantly hampered by this disagreement about the preferred video codec-technology that encodes and decodes video and audio. Imagine if all browsers could show graphics, but some could show only JPEG and others could show only PNG: people using the browsers would see broken Web pages unless developers took care to create different versions of the Web pages and deliver the appropriate one.

Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry Split

Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry have broken up after four years together, according to multiple reports.

The Oscar winner and the Canadian model are reportedly in negotiations to work out a custody agreement regarding their 2-year-old daughter Nahla, TMZ.com reports.

Berry, 43, and Aubrey, 34, met at a Versace store opening in Manhattan in February 2006. Their daughter was born two years later.

In February 2009, Berry told Essence magazine about motherhood, "I'm complete. I have more to offer my craft because [my daughter] makes me indelibly better every day." That same month, Aubry told PEOPLE that Nahla "needs a sibling. I think it's important."

Berry’s rep couldn’t be reached for comment.

Lindsay Lohan Facing Jail Time After Violating Probation?

LiLo could soon find herself trading in those late nights out on the town for yard time and an orange jumpsuit.

If TMZ spies are to be believed, Lindsay has not fulfilled the terms of her probation agreement — which could mean jail time for the troubled actress. Lohan, who is currently on probation for 2007 drinking and drugs offenses, has been setting celeb-watchers abuzz in recent weeks with stories and pictures of her hard partying and erratic behavior. Under the terms of her court judgment, Lindsay must attend alcohol education courses once a week – but TMZ claims the star’s only shown up every 21 days.

Adobe CTO says Flash 10.1 for Android in June -- will Froyo follow suit?

Let's take a break from Apple and Adobe's back-and-forth, shall we? Instead, we'll let the latter company talk about its work with Google, specifically the Android platform. Flash-based CTO Kevin Lynch said today in a post, "We look forward to delivering Flash Player 10.1 for Android smartphones as a public preview at Google I/O in May, and then a general release in June." Good news, indeed, but with all this talk of Froyo having native Flash support, and this month's conference serving as the largest gathering of Android developers, we can't imagine a better platform (pun intended) for Andy Rubin and company to unveil its fragmentation-curbing Froyo update. Might Flash 10.1's May preview / June release schedule line up with the OS, as well? Just some fat-free food for thought.

Motorola RAZR3 prototype gets video demo

News that Motorola had canned their RAZR3 project all the way back in November 2008 was met with collective indifference, but beyond a small photo of the handset we’ve been left hanging as to what happened to the company’s prototypes. One such example has leaked to Travis the Tech Man and he’s been showing it off on video.

The rumored specifications turn out to be largely true: it has a GSM HSPA modem, GPS and Nuance voice-recognition, together with a 5-megapixel camera with an LED flash. The form-factor is obviously reminiscent of early RAZR models, but there’s a large touchscreen display on the front of the flip with a physical lock switch on the side to prevent accidental taps while it’s in your pocket.

Mainland China steals idols' fame, claims Wu Zun advertises circumcisions

Celebrity spokesperson fees often reach an outrageous 7 figure number, but if you "borrow their image", then it's free! Recently, netizens have found that a Mainland clinic has illegally taken Wu Zun's photo to advertise a circumcision procedure; and Hong Kong star Andy Lau's name has also appeared on ads selling salted ducks.

The more popular the celebrity, the higher revenue that their advertisements rake in. One of Mainland China's clinics found a liking to the well built, handsome and multi-talented Wu Zun, and privately attached his photo on the advertisements. At first glance, Wu Zun appears educated and professional with his glasses, but that image clashes with what he is promoting: a Korean style circumcision procedure. A blurb above his head states that it is "only 80RMB (360TWD)" to complete the surgery. Wu Zun was both angry and amused that his picture was used to advertise a procedure that he evidently did not agree to.

2PM's 'Japanese love calls' Will they be the 2nd DBSK?

'Aiming to be the 2nd DBSK!'

It has been revealed that the top Japanese labels have their eye on 2PM.

On the 22nd at Mnet's 'M! Countdown' and the 23rd at the pre-recording for KBS2 'Music Bank,' representatives from Japanese labels Sony, EMI, and AVEX were present. They visited Korea to watch the passionate comeback performances of 2PM's 'Without U.' Following this, they closely observed 2PM's performances at the 'Anycall Corby Family Festival' on April 24th at the Seoul Olympic Fencing Stadium.
