MeeGo-based LG GW990 won’t be commercially available

First showcased by LG in January this year, the LG GW990 will apparently not hit the market, ever.
LG initially said that the GW990 would be launched in the second half of 2010. When the handset was unveiled, it had Moblin on it, and it was LG’s first device to be powered by Intel’s Moorestown processor.
Since Moblin was merged with Maemo in February to become MeeGo, the GW900 should have made the transition too, and feature MeeGo at launch. However, it looks like LG thinks that further developing the GW990 is not a good idea, as it has just told Phone Arena that the device was merely a concept and it won’t be available for purchase.
The GW990 should have featured a 4.8 inch touchscreen display with 1024 x 480 pixels, a multi-window UI, 3D gaming, HSPA, and a 5MP camera.
LG didn’t say if it plans to launch MeeGo devices in the future – but it probably will (of course, this won’t happen in the first half of the year, and maybe not even before the year’s end).
