Cruella-de-Vil? No it's just Lady Gaga on a day out in London

Is the stress of fame making Lady Gaga age prematurely? Or is she doing Halloween early this year?

Spotted leaving her London hotel this morning, Gaga, 24, shocked onlookers by stepping out in a Cruella-De-Vil lookalike outfit.

With straggly hair dyed alternating shades of grey and white, a floor-length tiered nightgown-style dress and bizarre goggle sunglasses with heavy metal rims, the singer was more grandma than Gaga.

Flanked by security guards as she made her way through the throng of fans outside the hotel, Gaga at one point looked confused as she squinted up through her dark glasses.

Jane Lynch 'Felt Difference' Immediately After Marriage

Jane Lynch left Sue Sylvester's wardrobe of tracksuits back on the 'Glee' set and instead dons a leopard print robe while surrounded by male models for her spread in the November issue of More magazine, where she sounds off on her hit FOX show and her marriage to Lara Embry.

The Emmy-winning actress was already committed to two other series (Starz's 'Party Down' and an ABC project) when she was offered the role of Sue on 'Glee.' Believe it or not, this meant that for the first four episodes of the series, Lynch's status was temporary. "We were keeping our fingers crossed that I got to stay," she says.

Samsung Focus review

Even though we've seen a torrent of Windows Phone 7 devices, we couldn't leave you hanging on a review of the Samsung Focus. In the last few days, a flurry of new Microsoft-powered devices have hit the market, boasting slight differences, but all looking and acting largely the same. We've taken a deep dive on the operating system itself, the Omnia 7, Optimus 7, Mozart, HD7, and Surround (phew!) -- now it's time to focus on the, er... Focus. The device itself has a lot in common with its European brother, the Omnia 7, boasting the same 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 8GB of internal storage, 1GHz CPU, and 5 megapixel camera. The device will soon go on sale in America for $199.99 on AT&T's network -- in fact, it's the only Windows Phone 7 device you'll be able to buy on the network when they go public on November 8th. But is it really worth your hard earned cash when there are so many other options in the market? Read on for the full review to find out!

Update: Just a note, the HD7 will also be available (for T-Mobile) on November 8th and we've updated the above information to reflect that.

- We had the numbers wrong on the RAM / ROM. It's 512MB and 1GB, respectively.

Taylor Momsen: Topless in Concert!

It's as if 17-year-old Taylor Momsen was trying to send a message to the many critics of her recent gun-toting cover of Revolver and hyper-sexual image:

That message would be something akin to "I'm just getting started!"

Rocking out with her band The Pretty Reckless in NYC last night, T-Moms upped the ante, opening her shirt and exposing her breasts ("covered" by pasties).

This was no invasion of the Gossip Girl star's privacy by paparazzi. Taylor Momsen made sure concert-goers saw Taylor Momsen topless on stage. Insane.

Follow the jump for a video of the "OMG" moment, which occurs shortly after the one-minute mark in the clip, courtesy of Hollywood Life ...

Holy Crazy Makeover—Taylor Swift Goes Brunette

OMG, what did Taylor Swift do to herself?!

Our favorite sparkle-loving, blond country singer swapped her magical curls for a short brunette 'do.

Well, just for a day or two...
The singer recently donned a brown wig, glasses and black ensemble to film a Target commercial. The retail chain will sell the deluxe edition of Tay's new album, Speak Now—featuring bonus tracks, video and remixed songs—exclusively.

Without sequins or shiny locks, we barely recognized the babe. Can she pull off this literary geek-chic look, or do you prefer your Taylor sparkly and blonde? Weigh in!

Android Gingerbread will be version 2.3, Samsung may be making one of the first phones to run it

The next version of Google’s mobile operating system will be called Gingerbread, that much we know for sure. However, until now there’s been a lot of speculation regarding what version number Gingerbread would get. Most assumptions focused on 3.0, and a lot fewer on 2.5.

But today a slip from a Google employee may have revealed the official answer, and it’s neither of the above. It’s 2.3. In Google’s “issues” repository for Android (a place to report bugs or request features), the following has showed up:

Liam Neeson Replaces Mel Gibson in 'The Hangover 2'

A day after Mel Gibson got fired from 'The Hangover 2,' producers flew in Bradley Cooper's 'A-Team' buddy Liam Neeson to take his place. According to Variety, Neeson got the call and flew to Bangkok on Thursday.

"I just got the call to do a one-day shoot on 'Hangover 2' as a tattooist in Thailand, and that's all I know about it," Neeson told Variety. "I just laughed my leg off when I saw 'The Hangover.' I was shooting in Berlin earlier this year and rented it on the hotel TV."

Director Todd Phillips released a statement on Thursday after Gibson was cut: "I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of Jeff Robinov and his team. But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew," he said.

It's been speculate that Zach Galifianakis may have been the reason Gibson was forced out of the sequel. Speaking on the Comedy Death-Ray podcast last week, Galifianakis said, "A movie you're acting in, you don't have a lot of control -- you just show up and vomit your lines out. I'm not the boss. I'm in a deep protest right now with a movie I'm working on, up in arms about something. But I can't get the guys to [listen] ... I'm not making any leeway."

Pressed for details, the 41-year-old laughmaster wouldn't identify 'The Hangover 2' or Mel Gibson by name, but added: "It has something to do with a movie I'm working on, yeah. I'll tell you about it later. It's very frustrating."

CW orders full seasons of 'One Tree Hill,' 'Nikita,' and 'Hellcats'

The pickup baton has been passed to The CW: The network has given full-season orders to rookie dramas Nikita and Hellcats, as well as venerable soap One Tree Hill.

Season to date, Hellcats has averaged 2.5 million viewers, a dramatic improvement over last season’s insta-flop A Beautiful Life. Nikita, meanwhile, stands as The CW’s second most-watched show with 3.6 million viewers — although a large chunk of that audience falls outside the net’s core 18-34 demo (hence the mini-revamp under way).

Conspicuously missing from The CW’s pickup list: Life Unexpected. The sophomore drama did, however, receive an additional script order. In other words, there’s still hope.

Dell Venue Pro gets Expansys listing: £499.99 for November 8th

Don't take this as the gospel, but online retailer Expansys has gone ahead and listed Dell's Venue Pro -- affectionately known as "the Windows Phone 7 device with a portrait QWERTY slider" -- with pricing and availability date in tow. Which, if you're wondering, is £499.99 (or about $783 in US dollars, when crudely converted) and Monday, November 8th, respectively. That's just over two weeks away, which means if it is true, you won't have long to wait... and if it's not true, you'll know soon enough, anyway.

Selina suffers burns from explosion accident on the set of new drama

Selina Ren of S.H.E was seriously injured during an accident on the set of her new drama in Shanghai. Early rumors suggested that she received burns of varying degrees (50% in one version), but were later denied by her record company. HIM records posted the following message on their website:

“Thank you for everyone’s concern on Selina’s injury during the filming of her drama!

Selina received burns from an accident this afternoon while filming an explosion scene in Shanghai. Her condition is currently stable after she has been taken to the hospital. She is currently resting.
Please don’t worry! Executives from the company, her dad and Ah Chong (her fiancé) have flown to Shanghai right away. They will give Selina the best medical treatment and care. Her two pals were also notified immediately. Since they already have activities scheduled for tomorrow, Hebe and Ella will gather themselves up and complete their tasks.

Thank you for everyone’s concern, and please give Selina your best wishes.”

Selina was in Shanghai to film the TV adaptation of the 1994 movie “I have a date with spring”. She and costar Yu Hao Ming were shooting an explosion scene on the morning of the 22nd. According to news sources, Yu noticed something went wrong and tried to shield her from the accident. He was said to have suffered even more serious burns as a result.

Apple leapfrogs RIM in Q3 smartphone sales

Apple CEO Steve Jobs proclaimed earlier this week that his company is leaving RIM in its dust, an now one industry analyst firm has stepped up to corroborate that.

GigaOm noted a Strategy Analytics' report today saying that Apple overtook RIM during the third quarter, shipping 15.4 million smartphones compared to RIM's 12.3 million.

Nokia, still the worldwide leader of smartphones, shipped 26.5 million devices. But it wasn't just Apple that improved: the entire smartphone market grew to 77 million units, 78 percent better than a year ago, the report states.

Strategy Analytics' report echoes, but doesn't exactly match, the numbers Apple shared on its fiscal fourth quarter earnings call Monday. "We sold 14.1 million iPhones in the quarter," Jobs told investors. "It handily beat RIM's 12.1 million BlackBerrys sold for their most recent quarter. We've now passed RIM, and I don't see them catching up with us in the foreseeable future."

The BlackBerry maker didn't appreciate Jobs' aggressive comments. Shortly after, RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie posted a blog calling Apple's counting methods into question and accusing Jobs of only telling customers "half" the story.

Balsillie pointed out that his company's quarter ended in August, while Apple's ended in September, a traditionally lucrative smartphone-selling period. Strategy Analytics' report also covers three months, but it's not clear which three months it's taking into account.

Katy Perry and Russell Brand Spoil Their Wedding Guests

Katy Perry and Russell Brand's wedding won't take place until this weekend, but the festivities have already begun!

The couple, who are staying at a resort near the Ranthambhore wild life sanctuary in India, have been keeping their guests busy with song and dance performances, shopping, and even an early-morning safari.

Though the area is known for its tiger population, according to one wildlife guard, the group who went out early Thursday morning (which did not include the singer, 25, or the actor, 35) "saw baby deer, spotted deer, blue bulls, jackals, and jungle cats." Still, the source says, "They were thrilled." Brand and Perry joined in the wildlife fun Friday by going on safari.

Thursday, a small bazaar was set up inside the resort – an Indian wedding tradition – where guests could buy textiles, jewelry and Indian handicrafts, or have their fortune told – by a parrot. (He picks a card based on the Indian cosmic system.)

Later, under a full moon, the wedding party was entertained by 40 folk musicians and dancers.

"Everyone was relaxing by the pool and drinking and eating Indian snacks while we performed," said Lalit Tiwari, who had brought the troupe into Ranthambhore from New Delhi. "Towards the end, some of them came towards the stage and started dancing during the 'bhangra' (an energetic dance from the rural area of Punjab)."

Friday night's plan: a Bollywood-themed performance along with a traditional mehndi ceremony – one of the most important pre-wedding rituals of an Indian marriage.

'Paranormal Activity 2' breaks R-rated midnight record with $6.3 million

The demons, and quite a few moviegoers, were out last night for the midnight debut of Paramount’s Paranormal Activity 2, which grossed $6.3 million from 12:00 a.m. screenings, according to studio estimates. That figure is the highest midnight gross for an R-rated film, besting Watchmen‘s $4.6 million take from last year. It also smashes the record for the largest October midnight opening, which was set all of one week ago when Jackass 3D collected $2.5 million. Paramount has been heavily promoting Paranormal Activity 2 as a “midnight movie,” and this early turnout practically ensures that the sequel will surpass its predecessor’s wide-release opening of $21.1 million.

Boy, That Escalated Quickly. Chrome 8 Beta Due Shortly, Chromium Hits Version 9

Whenever I ask Google about the versions of Chrome and Chromium, they’re quick to point out that the numbers don’t mean much these days. That said, they still show how quickly the search giant is able to get features implemented that they want to see in their browser. And they’re apparently not happy with the already fast speed at which things are progressing. They want things to go faster. So they’re working to speed things up even more.

A posting in their Chromium Google Group notes they’d like Chrome 8 to hit the beta stage sometime in the next several days. That’s pretty crazy considering that it was only 3 days ago that Google officially released Chrome 7. ”I’m working to shorten the beta cycle for this release as much as possible,” a developer wrote a couple days ago noting that meant they had to focus on blocker bugs (the bugs stopping a version from hitting beta). The developer also notes that this is a part of making sure Google’s ultra-fast six week release cycle remains feasible.

Chrome 8 hit the dev channel a couple weeks ago, and seems pretty solid already, so they’re likely to hit their target. Notably, this version brings the option to have Google Instant baked into the Omnibox.

And with version 8 about to go beta, perhaps it shouldn’t be a surprise the Chromium (the open source browser on which Chrome is based) already hit version 9 today.

It’s certainly possible that we’ll see Chrome 9 released before the official build of Internet Explorer 9 (currently in public beta). Even if the numbers don’t mean much, I’m sort of wondering what happens in the next year — are we really going to see Chrome 14, 15, 16, etc?

Chrome OS, meanwhile, continues to progress towards the version 1.0 launch. They’re currently on build 0.9.93.0, which uses Chrome version 8.0.552.9.

Andy Lau reenacts classic scene from 'A Moment of Romance' with a guy

The day before, Andy Lau appeared on Taiwanese program Super King (綜藝大國民), the production crew found the same motorcycle that appeared in Andy's 1990 film A Moment of Romance (天若有情), giving him a chance to reenact the classic scene. However, the female lead Jacqueline Wu turned into the host Frankie Huang, even Andy couldn't hold in his laughter: "You all want to place this classic on the corner of your eyes?" Andy turned around and saw Frankie hugging him from behind, he instantly let out a drunken expression, gave him a punch, and staged a runaway wedding!

Andy recalls the classic and touching scene of when he was riding the motorcycle while nose bleeding in A Moment of Romance. The man-made blood paste was clogging the inside of his nose because the blood paste was too strong, it was difficult to remove it all.

Lindsay Lohan to Spend the Holidays in Rehab

Lindsay Lohan won't be going back to jail, but she will be spending the holidays in rehab. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elden Fox spared the 'Mean Girls' actress from more jail time on Friday, but instead ordered the troubled star back to the Betty Ford Center until Jan. 3. Fox was determining whether Lohan violated her probation in September when she admittedly tested positive for cocaine and Adderall in a pair of random drug screenings.

"You are an addict. I hope you understand that," Fox said to Lohan, according to a TMZ report. She is expected back in court on Feb. 25. A prosecutor had wanted a six-month jail sentence for the star, but Fox opted for rehab after reviewing filings from rehab officials and a letter by Lohan herself. She cried after hearing the sentence.

Breaking Dawn Source: Sexy Stuff Is "Dead On"

The Twilight gang has taken over New Orleans, with Breaking Dawn filming set to start in about two weeks. And while Marc Malkin has told you all how "intense" that birthing scene is going to be, we're dying to know about the sex stuff!

Aren't you?

One of our New Orleans sources got their hands on the script, since the cast is in preproduction. So naturally we needed to know if that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, er, Edward and Bella, sex scene is going to be all that hot:

"It's dead on with the book," our source says of Melissa Rosenberg's script. "In fact, there is a little more sex in the movie, and more sexual dialogue. The script is actually good. Really good."

Too deelish! If you need a refresher, Rob and Kristen's characters finally get it on during their honeymoon, and it's pretty rough (for lack of a classier word).

"The script has a pretty sexual tone with a lot of the characters this time around, not just Edward and Bella."

LG Optimus 7 review

If last night's cameo showing off the official Twitter client for Windows Phone 7 wasn't enough of a hint, yes, we've gotten our hands on LG's Optimus 7. This 3.8-inch machine will serve as LG's international WP7 ambassador while Americans get to grips with its QWERTY keyboard-equipped Quantum brother. As you'll no doubt be aware by now, the internal equipment is standardized around Microsoft's chassis spec, meaning a WVGA screen resolution, a 1GHz Snapdragon inside, and a 5 megapixel camera shooting 720p video at 24fps. You'd think, therefore, that it'd be a nondescript, middle-of-the-road option, but the Optimus 7 left us extremely impressed after our first hands-on and we're eager to keep digging for more. Does it put up a righteous fight against the more ambitious HD7 from HTC and Omnia 7 from Samsung? Jump past the break to find out.

The iPhone is the worst…

In my line of work, cell phones come and go faster than mixed drinks on MTV’s Jersey Shore. They’re here, they’re gone and most of the time they’re quickly forgotten. I can’t even recall all of the mobile devices I’ve handled in the past month, let alone the past year. And though hundreds of handsets have crossed my path in the 1,211 days since June 29th, 2007, only one phone has managed to stay in my pocket day in and day out: Apple’s iPhone.

Say what you will about the device, the company, me, my mother, or anything else… the iPhone might be my go-to handset but I have no allegiance to any manufacturer or OS. In fact my iPhone 3GS was almost replaced last year by Sprint’s Palm Pre. I still love webOS but I need hardware that matches the fit and finish of Palm’s great operating system before a webOS device can fly solo in my pocket. And no, unfortunately, the Pre 2 likely won’t fit the bill.

Ahoy there! Sexy sailor Paris Hilton goes Halloween costume shopping in lingerie store

Halloween is used to be about dressing up as scary ghosts and witches.

But Paris Hilton looked anything but frightening as she shopped for her costume yesterday.

The heiress was spotted at Trashy lingerie in Los Angeles trying on a sexy sailor costume.

The 29-year-old wasn't shy about parading around the store in the corset and hotpants ensemble.

The store, a favourite of Hugh Hefner's girlfriends and a range of celebrities, specialises in custom-made costumes and lingerie which can cost upwards of $350.

Hilton earlier tried on some cat masks with sister Nicky, uploading a picture to Twitter.

Watch Nelly Furtado's 'Fuerte' Music Video

After the multi-platinum success of her fourth studio album, Nelly Furtado is set to release an eclectic collection of remixes of her hit singles and the hot new track 'Fuerte' featuring Concha Buika. 'The Best of Nelly Furtado' will be hit stores Nov. 15. "I think it's a fun thing to celebrate," Furtado recently told Billboard. "I'm proud of the fact that 'Whoa, Nelly!' came out a full 10 years ago and you can still put it on and it sounds like something that's on the radio now; at the time we were just kind of making music we felt like listening to, which is what I've always done since."

No more Windows XP preloads allowed on new PCs

As TechFlash’s Todd Bishop reminded us, as of today, October 22, PC makers are no longer allowed by Microsoft to preload Windows XP on new PCs.

Netbooks were the last category of PCs on which Microsoft was still allowing XP preloads at this point. Back in April 2008, Microsoft told OEMs that October 22, 2010, would be the day that no more XP Home would be permitted to be preinstalled on new netbooks.

Update: XP preloads are done, but XP downgrades are not, by the way. Best any of us Microsoft watchers can tell, it looks like XP downgrades will be allowed up until 2015. (Microsoft won’t confirm or deny that date.)

Not so coincidentally, today also is the one-year anniversary of the launch of Windows 7, the primary version of Windows which Microsoft is encouraging PC makers to preload on not just PCs, but also the new crop of slates that are coming out. (Hewlett Packard released its long-awaited Windows 7 slate on October 21 — the one that looked at the start of the year that it might be a real iPad competitor, but ended up as a business tablet.)

Apple responds on missing Flash in new MacBook Airs, says get used to it

The other day, we reported on the fact that those tiny new MacBook Airs are shipping without a pre-installed version of Flash. Based on Apple's recent, vocal anti-Flash opinions, we took it as a sign that the company was putting even more distance between itself and Adobe, but according to a statement we've just received, that might not be the case. Apple spokesman Bill Evans just pinged us with the official word on the situation, claiming that it has more to do with making sure users have the most recent version of the software and less to do with politics. Here's the word from Apple:

We're happy to continue to support Flash on the Mac, and the best way for users to always have the most up to date and secure version is to download it directly from Adobe.

Interestingly, he also notes that this will be happening across all Macs in the future, though there may be some models still in the channel with Flash pre-installed. Obviously this makes some sense, but it's hard not to see it as a dig against Adobe -- there must be other solutions for ensuring users are up to date (like, oh, putting the plugin into your auto-updater). Also, it would be nice if those "missing plug-in" messages actually worked as links to the Adobe install page (because they don't, at least in Safari). Hey -- at least we know it wasn't a fluke!

Liam Neeson, January Jones, and Diane Kruger in 'Unknown' trailer: Watch it here

The trailer for the drama/mystery/thriller Unknown — starring Liam Neeson, January Jones, and Diane Kruger and from Orphan director Jaume Collet-Serra — has hit the interwebs. Centering squarely around Neeson, Unknown is one of those movies (you know them!) where the main character gets into an accident, goes into a coma for a handful of days, and wakes up to find that no one knows who he is. In fact, someone else — in this particular case, Aidan Quinn — has assumed his identity of Dr. Martin Harris. Or was that ever actually his identity? Who’s crazy? Liam? Or Aidan? Or everyone? Or no one? Who’s sane? Who’s who?!? That’s kinda how you feel after watching this short, and rather thrilling, trailer. January Jones brings her disaffected wife thing, as Neeson’s (former?) wife, while Diane Kruger plays the cab driver that went over the edge with Neeson and mired him in the pickle he’s in. Check out the trailer for Unknown here:

Official Kinect TV ads feature smiling actors, very large rooms, little else (video)

If you're a fan of videos featuring commercial actors mugging for the camera and jumping around in a semi-comical manner, you are seriously in luck. That's right, it looks like Ballmer and Co.'s $500 million marketing blitz has resulted in some totally spasmodic TV spots for the Kinect. As befits a technology that emphasizes movement over the controller itself, there is very little actual hardware shown -- but boy, do those kids look like they're having fun! See for yourself after the break.

KT to offer 30,000 free Apple iPads to employees

Apple’s iPad will be launched in South Korea sometime next month by KT, the country’s second largest mobile carrier.

Those who work for KT (about 30,000 people) won’t have to buy the iPad if they want to, because the company has decided, “after reviewing a proposal by the labor union”, to give away free iPads to all employees.

This will cost the company about $15 million – or even more, assuming it won’t give away only 16GB, 3G-less iPads.

I assume KT would want its employees to use the iPads for work-related activities – although no one could blame them if they play, say, Angry Birds from time to time.

KT is currently the exclusive iPhone carrier in South Korea.
