Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s PDA-Filled Dinner!

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are both back in L.A. before Breaking Dawn duties start up, and they wasted no time getting together.

A clean-shaven Rob and a naturally glowing K.Stew were spotted at Soho House in West Hollywood Saturday night totally displaying their affection for one another during a dinner with friends.

TWITTER: Follow Ted!

"They were staring at each other throughout dinner and kept stealing quick kisses from one another during the night," an eyewitness tells E! News. "Rob's arm was around her for most of dinner and they kept looking at each other and giggling throughout the evening. They are definitely into each other."

Stewart arrived home to L.A. less than a week ago from filming On the Road in New Orleans and Arizona, while Pattinson just returned from London. And it seems like distance hasn't kept these two apart!

"They were by each other's sides the entire night," adds the eyewitness. "After dinner, Rob, Kristen and their friends moved to the patio where the group was smoking and the guys were drinking. Everyone was laughing and having a good time together, but you could tell Rob was doting on Kristen and making sure she was comfortable. They were next to each other everywhere the group went."

Microsoft’s Ballmer: Android Isn’t Really Free — You Have To Pay Us For Patents

Perhaps you’ve heard that Microsoft is about to re-enter the smartphone fray with their new Windows Phone 7 phones in a few weeks. While Microsoft’s unique mobile OS makes it an interesting entry into the space, there is no shortage of thought that they may already be too late to a market dominated recently by Google, Apple, and RIM. And since Microsoft’s strategy for the new phones seems to be go after Android head-on, you have to wonder how on Earth they’re going to get away with continuing to charge a licensing fee for their software when Android is free? But Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer sees things a bit differently.

“It’s not like Android’s free,” Ballmer told WSJ in an interview this weekend about Windows Phone 7. “Android has a patent fee,” he said. “You do have to license patents,” he continued.

So Ballmer’s stance is that while Google may not charge a licensing fee for Android, there is a hidden free — one compliments of none other than Microsoft.

Ballmer noted that HTC recently signed an agreement with his company to grant them rights to patents for things they wish to do with Android. A few days ago, Microsoft sued Motorola, clearly attempting to get them to sign a similar deal.

Newly-minted American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez is doing TV double duty after agreeing to produce a new comedy series aboutb life as a Latina nanny, Variety said last week.

Television is familiar terrority for the Bronx-born actress-dancer-singer. The Maid in Manhattan actress got her start on the small screen, featuring in hit shows In Living Color and Second Chances.

The show is currently in pre-production. A premiere date has not yet been set.

HTC Mozart Windows Phone 7 specifications leak, 'late October' UK launch confirmed

We're getting close, very very close to the official launch of the Windows Phone 7 OS. And while the US might be waiting until November for actual handsets to go on sale, Europe looks set for an October release... just like we heard from Microsoft back in August. Things are even rosier in the UK where all five major operators will have Windows Phone 7 devices in stock. Now, according to a screengrab we've received from an internal Phones 4U system, we know that the HTC Mozart is on deck for a late October UK retail debut. To start with, the 119 x 60.5 x 11.9 mm touchscreen slate will feature a 3.7-inch 800x480 pixel TFT LCD, 1GHz CPU, 8MP camera with Xenon flash and 720p video recording, a 1300mAh battery, 8GB of memory, and a bevy of sensors for ambient light, gravity, compass, and proximity. Other specs include a 3.5-mm audio jack naturally, surround sound, Bluetooth 2.1, A-GPS, and 802.11n WiFi. Expect it to be sold free with the usual £35 per month carrier tithe. Man, you thought deciding on a smartphone was tough now, just wait until we've got WinPho 7 and MeeGo (hopefully) devices on the market before year's end.

J.Y.J versus Avex and SM: Who’s at fault?

“We can’t shake off the thought that Avex was using the three of us as tools to make more profits instead of treating us as artists.” – J.Y.J

With that single sentence, millions of fans around the world were incited into a frenzy about how the evil, greedy workings of Avex were preventing their beloved J.Y.J from continuing promotions.

Now if that scenario sounds familiar, it should, as it’s eerily similar to the one played out with SM Entertainment a little over a year ago.

Both times that J.Y.J came under fire from their companies, fans quickly came to their rescue and defended their actions in overwhelming numbers, proving that the international K-pop community is well anchored on the side of the idol trio.

Despite the seemingly unanimous disdain for SM’s and Avex’s respective roles in this controversy, I have to step back from all the emotional reactions, and reflect on whether the two companies actually deserve these horrifying depictions.

LG scraps plans for Froyo tablet, will wait for next Android version

If you needed any further proof that Android in its present form isn't mature enough to perform tablet duties, here it is. Reuters is citing an unnamed LG official who has categorically written off the possibility of his company producing an Android 2.2 tablet. The LG informer has said that his company wants "the most suitable version [of Android] for our tablet and that is not Froyo 2.2." This mirrors Motorola's strategy of holding out until at least the next iteration of Google's mobile OS before diving into the tablet pool. Still, it'll be disappointing to those who took LG's words at face value when it promised its tablet will be an iPad killer -- that may still happen, mind you, just not this year.

Adriana Lima Will Wear $3 Million Fantasy Bra During 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

And The Fantasy Bra goes to…..

Supermodel Adriana Lima will look like a million bucks — Actually, three million bucks — when she dons the coveted, jewel-encrusted Bombshell Fantasy Bra at the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show later this fall.

The Brazilian beauty, 29, returns to the catwalk after giving birth last year and will be doing so in style as she sports a starburst design, valued at $3 million. The one-of-a-kind brassiere features almost 2,000 diamonds!

Adriana welcomed her first child, daughter Valentina, with NBA star hubby Marko Jaric.

Last year, Vicky’s Secret Angel Marisa Miller was the chosen one to wear the $3 million Harlequin Fantasy Bra.

T-Mobile myTouch announced: Android 2.2, video calling, and HSPA+

Looking a bit like a myTouch 3G Slide sans slide, the newly-announced myTouch -- yes, just "myTouch" -- is the latest addition to the consumer-centric side of T-Mobile's Android lineup, featuring a 3.8-inch WVGA display, 5 megapixel primary camera with 720p capture, and a next-gen MSM8255 Snapdragon core running at 1GHz. Notice how we said "primary camera"? Yep, it's true: the myTouch features a second, front-facing cam as well, becoming just the second phone from T-Mobile (and one of the first in the States, of course) to offer video calling. Looks like it'll be supported over both WiFi and 3G using Qik and Yahoo Messenger, so you'll be able to see the beautiful faces of your EVO-sporting friends from afar. Like the G2, it's got full support for T-Mobile's up-and-coming HSPA+ network along with 802.11n and Android 2.2 out of the box. We don't have pricing or a launch date yet, but we're told it'll be available "in time for the holidays" in your choice of four scintillating colors: white, black, plum, and red.

Sharp IS03 Android phone packs 9.6MP camera, matches iPhone 4 display

Apple’s Retina Display for the iPhone 4 and latest iPod touch may have been leaving WVGA Android smartphones in the shade, but it was only a matter of time before the open-souce alternatives caught up. Sharp has just announced the IS03, headed to Japanese carrier KDDI in November, with a 3.5-inch 960 x 640 capacitive touchscreen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor and 9.6-megapixel camera with flash.

As we’ve grown to expect from Japanese smartphonse, the KDDI IS03 is bursting with functionality. In addition to EVDO Rev.A, WiFi b/g and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR there’s infrared, GPS, 1-Seg mobile digital TV and an FM transmitter, as well as compatibility with KDDI’s mobile wallet electronic payments system.

There’s also 512MB of RAM and a 2GB microSD card preloaded (up to 32GB supported), and the whole thing weighs in at 138g and will be available in white, black or orange. Interestingly, the display has a dual-power mode which can show battery status, signal, missed calls and other reminders without the backlight being active, and it seems to beat the Continuum to the post with a second touchscreen panel for the Android controls. No word on whether Sharp are going to develop a version of the IS03 for the US or Europe, sadly.

HTC Paints its Already-Stunning Legend and Desire in "Phantom Black" and "Brilliant White" Hues

Daily readers know we rarely comment on color changes, so when a new shade crosses our pages you know it's worth ogling. The HTC Legend, which in my opinion is the most gorgeous phone around, now comes in black.

It was previously only available in silver, but this "phantom black" shade keeps the aluminum materials for an even more stunning look. Can you tell I'm excited? I really am. Sadly it's only available across Europe, joining the white HTC Desire which appeared a few weeks back. Both will be on sale in October.

Pröst! Katy Perry gets into the beer-swigging Oktoberfest spirit on German chat show

She's known for her imaginative and wacky on-stage costumes.

So Katy Perry must have felt right at home when she appeared on German TV show Wetten, Dass....? (translated as Wanna Bet?) this weekend.

The 25-year-old singer donned a sparkly dress inspired by the traditional Bavarian Dirndl to help celebrate the German Oktoberfest on the show.

Ever the good sport, Perry then proceeded to swig beer, join in with skits and have a sit down interview, before performing her new single.

She was also presented with a giant, traditional Oktoberfest cookie in the shape of a heart by presenter Thomas Gottschalk.

Perry was joined on the sofa by Resident Evil actress Milla Jovovich who but didn't wear a themed costume, but sipped beer alongside Perry.

HTC HD7 leaks out once more with Dolby Sound, stars in a brief video

HTC may have stemmed the flood of HD7 activity, but details about the 4.3-inch Windows Phone 7 device keep leaking out. Today, an O2 Germany tipster blew off most of the remaining doors. We've got what appears to be a full spec sheet confirming a 1GHz processor, 8GB of storage and 5 megapixel camera but also detailing internal memory, a full complement of sensors, quad-band radio frequencies, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and more. There's also a few pictures sizing up the HD7 alongside a Galaxy S, a training slide for the hopefully-more-than-a-marketing-buzzword "Dolby Mobile Sound," and for what we believe is the very first time, a cameo appearance on video. Our tipster says it'll launch in Germany in just two weeks at €559 (about $770) or €79 ($109) on a two-year contract. Tempting, no? Video after the break.

Bret Michaels Naked: "I Didn't Eat for a Day and I Did About 2,000 Sit-Ups!"

For a guy who's been through the health-scare wringer this year, Brett Michaels is looking good.

So good, in fact, that Billboard magazine asked the 47-year-old rocker to pose naked—yes, naked—on the cover of its new "Maximum Exposure" issue...

"I said, 'Listen, I have two requests—good lighting and a warm room. That's all I'm asking for,'" Michaels tells me. "If I'm walking out with it all f**king hanging out there for the world to see then, well, I need good lighting and a warm room."

And some sit-ups! "I didn't eat for a day and I did about 2,000 sit-ups," he says.

As we all know by now, Michaels hasn't let his bad health get in the way of him living life. In January, he'll be back on the operating table to repair a hole in his heart. "I'm going in there thinking very positively that it's going to be great and I'm going to feel a whole lot better," he says, before adding, "I'd be lying to say that somewhere in my subconscious there's not a little bit of gulling. When they're going through your body to operate on your heart, it's going to hit you somewhere that they're toying with the ticker. There's definitely a little fear in there somewhere."

App turns iPad into client for multitasking, Flash

A longtime Silicon Valley company says it can turn Apple's iPad into an X terminal, allowing it to run Linux, do true multitasking, and even run Flash-based apps.

Sunnyvale, Calif.-based StarNet Communications announced this week that it can transform the iPad into a an X terminal--generically referred to as a dumb terminal because the data processing is done on the server not the client--for Linux, Unix, mainframe, and supercomputers.

iLIVEx, available from the Apple App Store for $14.99, allows iPad users to connect to Unix and Linux desktops and applications hosted on remote Unix and Linux servers. StarNet makes bold speed claims too. "iLIVEx features an ultrathin data transfer protocol allowing for LAN-like performance, even over 3G connections," the company said.

JYJ scheduled to appear on the Late Show with David Letterman?

Although no official sources have confirmed the event, it looks like New York City will be treated with more than just a tour concert soon! Word has it that the power trio JYJ (Jaejoong, Yoochun, Junsu) might be making a special appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman in the near future.

A Naver cafe for Synnara Records recently posted new information on JYJ’s upcoming activities, including their global showcase tour and details of JYJ’s latest album. However, what caught many fans’ attention was the mention of a feature on the famous New York-based talk show.

Leehom Wang comforts himself over Golden Horse disappointment

After a month-long promotion in the mainland, Leehom Wang returned to Taiwan to promote the repackaged edition of his “18 Martial Arts” album. He’s been travelling from city to city for activities and performances as if he was a “courier package”. The star finally got a night of rest to recover from his fatigue before getting back to work again. At the Taipei autograph session, Leehom greeted fans in stylish sunglasses and a rendition of “Need Someone By Your side”.

Reporters were eager to get his reaction on the lack of nomination at this year’s Golden Horse Awards. He said he wasn’t surprised and pointed out that comedies typically don’t receive recognition from judges. He also mentioned that the great Stephen Chow has never received a Golden Horse for Best Actor. Leehom's movie “Love in Disguise” accumulated 70 million RMB (~10 mil USD) at the mainland box office, and a decent 8 million NTD (~250,000 USD) in Taiwan. However, the film itself only received mixed reviews -- Some fans praised it for being funny and entertaining, while others criticized it for re-using old clichés and a weak story structure.

Confirmed: Windows Phone 7 launches October 11th in New York City, and T-Mobile's on board

If there was any scrap of doubt in your mind, we'll obliterate it for you right now -- October 11th is the day Windows Phone 7 will be unveiled in the US, not just at a fancy London event... and wonder of wonders, T-Mobile's the star of the show. The event agenda clearly states there will be "an exclusive showing of T-Mobile powered Windows Phone 7 devices" at 3:30PM EST, and you can bet your britches we'll be there live to cover the whole thing.

Verizon Will Refund $90 Million to Overcharged Data Users

Verizon Wireless, writing to us this evening, has officially confirmed it will credit 15 million customers with $90 million in compensation for "mistaken past data charges."

Most customers should expect a credit in the $2 to $4 range, although some royally screwed customers will apparently "receive larger credits or refunds," the statement read. The credits will begin to flow sometime later this month and into November.

Additional explanation provided by Verizon, from their email:

As we reviewed customer accounts, we discovered that over the past several years approximately 15 million customers who did not have data plans were billed for data sessions on their phones that they did not initiate. These customers would normally have been billed at the standard rate of $1.99 per megabyte for any data they chose to access from their phones. The majority of the data sessions involved minor data exchanges caused by software built into their phones; others involved accessing the web, which should not have incurred charges. We have addressed these issues to avoid unintended data charges in the future.

Who among you Verizon-wielding readers was on the receiving end of a data overcharge? Anyone?

Hacker claims third-party iPhone apps can freely transmit UDID, pose serious threat to privacy

When Apple addressed a congressional inquiry on privacy in July, the company claimed that it couldn't actually track a particular iPhone in real time, as its transactions were anonymous and thoroughly randomized. Bucknell University network admin Eric Smith, however, theorizes that third-party application developers and advertisers may not have the same qualms, and could be linking your device to your name (and even your location) whenever they transmit data. Smith, a two-time DefCon wardriving champ, studied 57 top applications in the iTunes App Store to see what they sent out, and discovered that some fired off the iPhone's UDID and personal details in plaintext (where they can ostensibly be intercepted), including those for Amazon, Chase Bank, Target and Sam's Club, though a few were secured with SSL. Though UDIDs are routinely used by apps to store personal data and combat piracy, what Smith fears is that a database could be set up linking these UDIDs to GPS coordinates or GeoIP, giving nefarious individuals or organizations knowledge of where you are.

Miss ELVA tops album sales after first week

ELVA Hsiao’s “Miss ELVA” tops both G-Music and Five Music album sales charts after its first week of release. Veteran idol Wallace Chung’s comeback album, “All Eyes On Me”, is second place on Five Music’s sales chart.

ELVA, who has always been seen as a creature of love, openly sings, “I like…I like you” in her latest single, “Miss ELVA”; She said, “I hope that after ‘Confession’ (her previous hit), my fans can bring the one they like to KTV and sing this song (Miss ELVA) to him/her to declare their love.”

Her second single, “Wrong Person”, has also been well received. Some fans even commented that it’s the best ballad from ELVA in recent years. She responded, “The song reflects a relationship that guys and girls of young or old have experienced before. It expresses a past memory that I have, and it’s also a way to let out your feelings or comfort a wounded soul.”

35 year old Wallace Chung put aside his music career and went to the Mainland in 1999 to start filming dramas. He released “Soul Man” back in 2004, but it wasn’t widely promoted. Now after six years, he comes back with a new album to shine again in the music industry.

Fans befriend 'Social Network' with $23M debut

Movie fans are spending some face time with a story about the founders of Facebook.

"The Social Network," director David Fincher's drama about the quarrelsome creation of the online juggernaut, debuted as the No. 1 weekend film with $23 million.

Distributor Sony hopes for a long shelf life for the film, which has earned Academy Awards buzz and rave reviews. Rory Bruer, Sony's head of distribution, said "The Social Network" has a good shot at becoming a $100 million hit.

"It really is a great start for us. This is a movie that is resonating everywhere. The reviews are the best I've seen at our studio in my career," Bruer said. "It's just one of those movies that critics and audiences alike are embracing, and I think it's going to have a tremendous life."

The weekend's other new wide releases had weak starts. Paramount's horror flick "Case 39," starring Renee Zellweger, opened at No. 7 with $5.35 million, while Overture Film's vampire tale "Let Me In," based on the novel "Let the Right One In," debuted at No. 8 with $5.3 million.

What Microsoft wants from Google

Microsoft wants access to any technology that sells.

That appears to be what its suit against Motorola is all about. At issue, writes deputy general counsel Horacio Gutierrez (right, from CNET), are “key features that users have come to expect from every smartphone,” specifically the ability to sync mail and contacts between the phone and the Web.

Of course, iPhones do that too, don’t they?

As Florian Mueller notes at FOSSPatents, this seems part of a coordinated attack against Google lodged by incumbents in a variety of areas — Oracle, Apple and now Microsoft. All are ostensibly attacks on Android, a Linux distro Google began developing before the iPhone came out.

One important fact I pointed out to Mueller is that this suit was not filed in the “patent troll” court — the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas in Tyler. Instead, it was filed in Seattle.

This is not a suit at a trial, in other words. As Paula noted Friday this is a business suit, The hope is that Google will cross-license its Android technology with Microsoft, just as Oracle and Apple hope to gain some control of Android with lawsuits.

Altek Leo, the 14 megapixel Android cameraphone, headed for Europe in 2011

Altek's wonderfully outlandish Android-based Leo smartphone, which sports a "real" 14 megapixel CCD with "real" 3x optical zoom and 720p video, was already slated for Q4 of this year in Asia, but Altek has recently announced the phone will also be launching Q1 2011 in Europe. On a slightly disconcerting note, Altek says it's still in search of "channel partners," so if you happen to know any channel / partner combos, push this little monster in their direction before 14 megapixels starts to sound old hat, would you?

Leehom releases “Need Someone By Your Side (需要人陪)” MV

In the music video, Leehom plays a busy office worker who reminisces over a past relationship. He sets aside his “quality idol” image to act in his first ever truly intimate scene, and said he hopes it will change people’s impression of him. Check out MV below.
