iPad fastest-selling gadget of all time claims analyst

Apple’s iPad has been heralded as the fastest-selling gadget in history by Bernstein Research analyst Colin McGranahan, who estimates the Cupertino company has sold 8.5m of the iOS slates since its launch earlier in 2010. According to Information Week, McGranahan described the iPad as “a runaway success of unprecedented proportions.”

Apple announced back in June that 3m iPads had been sold in the first 80 days of availability, but since then has not confirmed sales numbers. However, broader availability of the slate, including Target, Best Buy and, in the coming days Walmart, is all seen as helping propel its sales success.

Ah Sa Wants Space For Her New Relationship

Charlene Choi (Ah Sa) attended to the press event for her new EP "Beauty Remains" yesterday. As for a magazine reported she and new boyfriend William Chan actually have been dating for a year, not three months as they confessed. Ah Sa said helplessly: "I already said what I need to say. After William and I decided to open up our relationship, we are prepared to face all kinds of rumor and gossip already, so we won't care." As for the two bought a house unit to date more easily, Ah Sa said: "Won't reply to those rumors. I already accounted everything. This magazine says this, that magazine says that, I don't want to talk about it, there's no need to talk about it. Let's prove it overtime." Talked about William's ex-girlfriend Angelababy commented on Weibo, doubting they didn't date just 3 months? Ah Sa said peacefully: "Yesterday reporters asked me about it. I couldn't read it on Weibo. I asked William, and he doesn't believe Baby would do it. Someone close to her did it? I won't reply."

As for her dad didn't seem to know about her new relationship, Ah Sa said with a laugh that dad will definitely help his daughter and won't disclose too much to reporters. She said: "Dad helped us a lot, won't tell reporters about it. Our relationship is a small seedling. We don't have much time to see each other. Give us some time and room to grow. Let fate decides. We opened it up because we just want to date like regular people. (Regret opening it up?) I have some degree of pressure. I learned from the past. It's not that good not to open it up. So let's try to make it public this time."

Gillian Chung longs to announce new relationship

After Gillian Chung (Ah Gil) good sister Charlene Choi (Ah Sa) admitted to be dating William Chan, Ah Gil seems to have encountered some uncertainty in her love life. Last night, she suddenly expressed her feelings on Weibo. She talked about how she wants to be like Ah Sa, announcing a new romantic relationship. Ah Gil's most recent rumor is with musician Ben Chong and because of these rumors she gets in between Stephanie Cheng and Ben, causing a change in their relationship!

Ah Gil wrote on Weibo: "There are so many things I cannot control. If I don't say it, it does not mean I'm hidingit, but if I do say it does that mean there's no problem? I try hard to find a solution to every problem that happens to me, but who will let me continue to go on? I have never been upset with anyone, even during my toughest times, I hold a grateful heart. You treat me well is already surpassed what I expected. Even if I have no way of going on, I will not forget everything you have done for me."

Ah sa replies on Weibo: "Little Gil, there is a solution to very problem. Didn't I tell you several times, I'll always be by your side." Ah Gil replies back: "I know that you have always been by my side, but the issue has already happened, who can help me?"

Opera Mobile coming to Android within a month, bearing hardware acceleration and pinch-to-zoom

Forget all that Mini stuff, Opera is bringing its full-flavored mobile browser to Android some time very soon indeed. To tempt people on board, the new software will support hardware acceleration for buttering up frame rates while you zoom around at potato-scalding speeds, while pinch-to-zoom will also be implemented in a big O Android browser for the first time. Opera Mini will be partaking in the latter upgrade as well, while Opera Mobile proper is expected to make its debut on the Android Market at some point over the next month. All versions of the "well diversified" OS are supported too!

Sneak peek: Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie are pure perfection in The Tourist

Any man would fall for Angelina Jolie, even it seems, devoted family man Johnny Depp!

But the actor's partner and mother of his two children, Vanessa Paradis need not worry as it's all in the name of art.

The hot duo make a steamy partnership as they star together in upcoming movie The Tourist, due out this winter.

Johnny plays Frank, an American tourist who takes a trip to Italy in a bid to get over a broken heart.

He quickly falls for gorgeous Elise, played by Angelina, when they meet, apparently randomly, on a train.

But what poor Frank doesn't realise is he's been set up and his dalliance with the lovely Elise might cost him his life.

Miley Cyrus comes undone as she busts out of her tiny dress

She's already suffered an underwear malfunction this week after stepping out minus her bra.

And today teen singer Miley Cyrus had another wardrobe mishap, wearing a skin-tight floral minidress that was too tight to zip up at the back.

However the 17-year-old star seemed unbothered by her ill-fitting outfit as she chatted to photographers near her home in the Los Angeles suburb of Toluca Lake.

IDC: Apple's now third largest PC vendor in US with 10.6 percent market share

U.S. computer sales were pretty disappointing during the past three months, unless you're talking about Macs.

According to the Quarterly PC Tracker Survey released by IDC today, Apple shipped 1.99 million Macs in the U.S. during the third quarter of 2010. That's good for 10.6 percent of the 18.9 million PCs shipped in the U.S., putting Apple's share at its highest in the U.S. in the company's history, according to IDC.

While that's still far behind Hewlett-Packard's 24.3 percent share and Dell's 23.1 percent share, both of those companies' shipments remained relatively static over the last year. Apple saw its shipments grow 24 percent from the same quarter a year ago.

And it's not just the sales growth of HP and Dell it's besting: the entire U.S. PC market during the third quarter grew just 3.8 percent from a year ago (even though it was forecast at 11 percent), meaning Apple shipments of Macs grew at eight times the rate of everyone else. It's fairly remarkable considering the lingering weakness in the economy and the company's computers having been saddled with the "too expensive" label--whether accurate or not.

Microsoft, Facebook unveil deeper social search on Bing

Bing will soon allow searchers to see results generated by their Facebook friends' use of the "like" button on the social network, Microsoft announced today.

Microsoft's Qi Lu, president of Microsoft Online Services, and Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg held a press conference at Microsoft's Silicon Valley headquarters to announce an extension of a long-running partnership between the two companies to feature Facebook profiles and a "liked by your friends" section that takes advantage of the way that Web publishers have implemented Facebook's "like" button on their sites.

Over the last couple of years there has been a splintering of the Web, dividing into the "topical" Web organized around documents and the "social" Web organized around people, Lu said. "We want to make social people first-class citizens of the search experience," he said.

Microsoft will start rolling out the features later today, said Bing head Yusuf Mehdi. Bing users will see a little pop-up window in the upper right-hand corner of their screens that asks them if they want to link their Bing accounts and their Facebook accounts. If you decline the offer, your Facebook profile and likes will not be shown on Bing, Mehdi said, and you can also delete Bing from your Facebook applications if you decide later to exclude your data. Microsoft will show the reminder five times.

Charlene Choi stifled in a slaughter house for her album photoshoot

Even though Ah Sa has been busy filming a TV series and movie in Mainland, she still remains extremely nervous for her new Cantonese album <Beauty Remains> which releases on October 14 with a press conference on October 13. As soon as she had an opening in her schedule, she returned to Hong Kong to record the album, photograph the album cover and photoshoot and attend events. The four outfits in her album photoshoot are all 'old' clothing she has accumulated in her home. Through DIY (do-it-yourself), they have been assembled together to become beautiful unique clothing.

This time, the location for the photoshoot was an abandoned Cheung Sha Wan (poultry market in Hong Kong) slaughter house with collapsing walls and decaying roofs contrasting the charm of Ah Sa's majestic 'Ultimate Noblewoman' look. The message is that it is possible to find beauty in the worst circumstances. Despite looking like a princess, the location was in fact extremely vile. In order to create a special effect, staff had filled with slaughter house with smoke and mist. Stifling and smothered in the slaughter house for several hours, Ah Sa's skin developed an allergic reaction, but she tolerated it and continued working, only going to the doctor after finishing the photoshoot. Ah Sa laughed and expressed: "I hope that through this minor suffering, in the end there will be sweetness and the EP will be met with great sales and praise."

Taylor Momsen, 17, Gun-Totin’ Revolver Magazine Cover

The magazine is called Revolver, she’s holding a couple of guns…Yep –that’s pretty much where the appropriateness of this image ends.

While poor Miley Cyrus regularly ops flack for her underage skin-bearing antics, somehow too-cool-for-school tramp-in-training Taylor Momsen and her skimpy attire often manage to fly under the radar. Maybe because the stuff that comes out of her mouth is so much more disturbing.

Will OS X 10.7 “Lion” Be The King Of The Apple Jungle, The Last Of Its Kind, Or Both?

As you’re well aware by now, this morning, Apple sent out invites to an event taking place in one week at their headquarters in Cupertino, CA. The invite reads, “Back to the Mac.” and asks those invited to “Come see what’s new for the Mac on October 20, including a sneak peek of the next major version of Mac OS X.” But the most interesting thing about the invite has to be the picture. It’s an Apple logo cut out a sheet of metal that has been slightly turned to reveal what’s behind the sheet: a lion.

Apple began using big cat nicknames with initial release of OS X. 10.0 was “Cheetah”, 10.1 was “Puma”, 10.2 was “Jaguar”, 10.3 was “Panther”, 10.4 was “Tiger”, 10.5 was “Leopard”, and the current version, 10.6, is “Snow Leopard”. Initially, these were internal code names at Apple, but they eventually became a part of the marketing for the OS. And it certainly looks like OS X 10.7 is going to be dubbed “Lion”.

Sony PSP Go Dropping to $200 October 15th, According to Leaked Image

It was early September when Kaz Hirai, Sony Computer Entertainment President, blamed the pricing of the PSP Go for the abysmal sales of the device. While there were plenty of other factors in his reasoning, like the limited number of games available for download, it looks like pricing may indeed be the real reason why the PSP Go didn’t take off. But, a new leak from an unnamed tipster suggests that Sony is getting ready to drop the price of the mobile gaming platform, and it could happen as soon as Friday.

With no formal announcement to speak of, the leaked image is all we have to go on. According to the tipster, who works at an AAFES-based store that sells video games, the PSP Go is set for a $50 price drop, beginning October 15th. Given the current price points of existing Nintendo DS-based handheld consoles, and even the price of the upcoming Nintendo 3DS, is giving the PSP Go a $200 price tag going to be enough to stimulate sales? What do you think?

Rainie Yang: "I was already very old when I was young"

"I am a really pragmatic person! I don't fantasize. As a child, I was never 'Oh I want to be a plane captain'," said Taiwan pop idol Rainie Yang with a chuckle.

"I was already very old when I was young. I have things all planned out. Even when I was three years old and learning to dance, I already planned to open a dance school."

So why exactly is the theme for Yang's upcoming concert tour "Fantasy" when she is such a pragmatic, down-to-earth person?

It turns out the production crew came up with the theme "Fantasy" because they felt Yang had a wild and vivid imagination.

Yang wasn't sure about the theme at first but later accepted it as it fit her stage persona perfectly.

"I am a very pragmatic person. I don't have fantasies. But when it comes to performing, I am very creative and I come up with a lot of fantastic ideas," explained Yang when I caught up with the 26-year-old during a recent album signing cum showcase in Singapore.

Jay Chou and A-Mei romance rumours

Intimate actions between Jay Chou and A*Mei on flight sparks new rumours

Are Jay Chou and A*Mei seeing each other?

The duo was spotted on board a China Southern Airlines flight last week, leaning closely to each other.

The two stars had performed in Shenyang, China two Sundays ago before taking the same flight back to Taipei the next day.

A*Mei's agent clarified that she was just showing Jay a few tracks on her new album and was asking for his opinions. They had always exchanged ideas over the phone as well.

So why were they sitting so close?

"They were just sharing a set of headphones. If they were really avoiding rumours, they would not have sat together," her agent explained.

Jay's company JVR Music also responded that it is perfectly normal for two good friends to sit together for a chat.

New Harry Potter Posters: Grown Up and Freaky!

New posters for the upcoming Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I have surfaced, and they reveal more of the eerie—and so grown up—tone these final installments.

Our heroes seek to destroy the source of Voldemort's immortality, and in these new pics, they're looking more adult, and modern, than ever. Take this shot of Harry and Hermione on the subway. It could easily double as one of Emma Watson's Burberry ads.

Verizon’s Motorola Droid 2 almost free at Amazon

Currently available for $199.99 on contract at Verizon, the Motorola Droid 2 can be yours for much less if you get it from Amazon.

The giant US retailer sells the Droid 2 for only $0.01 (basically free) to all those who sign up for a new 2-yr contract agreement. Apparently, free shipping is also included.

It’s not often that a high-end Android device is offered for next to nothing (even though only on contract), so it’s likely that many customers in search of a new smartphone will consider getting the Droid 2 from Amazon.

Of note is that the Droid X is also cheaper at Amazon than at Verizon: $99.99 with a new contract. You can get it here.

And almost free Verizon Moto Droid 2 can be found on Amazon here.

Alec Baldwin Smacks Down AOL As Only Alec Baldwin Can

"Eighth degree, black belt idiots." "Dumbest bastards in the world." That's not Jack Donaghy talking about pinko liberals. That's Alec Baldwin talking about AOL homepage writers. But what's got him so heated?

Apparently it's a bit of selective misinterpretation that sent Baldwin on the warpath. As he writes over at The Huffington Post:

Today, on AOL's homepage, I am accused of insulting actor Jim Parsons for sending him a congratulatory gift basket, inside of which I added a card that read "Congratulations you talented, charming bastard."

I thought that was a joke. I think Parsons knew that. I think anyone on Earth could see that. Except the eighth degree, black belt idiots that compose the AOL homepage.

I'm still a loyal AOL user. In spite of the fact that its homepage content is written by the dumbest bastards in the world.

The lesson here is two-fold. One, do not twist the words of multiple Golden Globe Award winner Alec Baldwin. Two, there are loyal AOL users out there, and some of them are famous. [Huffington Post via Splitsider]

Yoon Eun Hye, 1st hallyu actress to make singing debut in Japan

Actress Yoon Eun Hye has announced plans of making her official debut as a solo singer in Japan. She will be the first female Hallyu star to do so. A number of male Hallyu stars, namely Lee Byung Hun, Ryu Si Won and Ahn Jae Wook have debuted as singers in Japan holding concerts and releasing albums. Conversely, female Hallyu stars such as Choi Ji Woo, Song Hye Kyo, and Son Ye Jin amongst others have only ever been limited to fan meetings and fan signings. For this reason alone, Yoon Eun Hye is gaining public interest as the first female Hallyu star to become active as a singer in Japan.

It has been reported that Yoon Eun Hye recently worked with a global recording agency and is currently undergoing preparations to release an album in Japan. Yoon will work with a famous Japanese producer by the latter half of the year’s end and the album is scheduled for a release in early 2011.

Barbie Hsu takes a break and checks out Ayumi Hamasaki's album cover

Things haven’t been going well of late for Barbie Hsu (Da S) -- She was recently crowned the “Queen of Rubbish Movies” by the *Golden Donkey judging panel. And then there’s her right arm which was immobilized last month due to nerve inflammation. She has tried various treatments from both Chinese and Western medicine, but movements of her fingers are still limited. For the time being, all of her filming schedules have been put on hold temporarily.

In the new movie “Reign of Assassins”, Da S plays a ruthless killer who charges ahead without looking back. The character somewhat resembles her personality in real life. Like her choice of movie roles for example, she has no regrets about them even when they are heavily criticized. She continues to receive endless offers and works on one film after another. Her arm was actually injured on the set of her latest when she over exerted herself.

Despite not being able to write or even hold a pair of chopsticks, Da S is still working hard on updating her blog with her left hand. One of her new entries caused quite a stir as she uploaded an old photo that looked strikingly similar to the cover of Ayumi Hamasaki’s new album “L”. She commented, “Isn’t this the cover picture of 美容大王 (literally translates to ‘Beauty King’, released in 2007)?” Despite the similarities, fans of the singer quickly came to their idol's defence saying Da S was intentionally creating commotion. Other netizens pointed out that the idea has also been used by other stars over a decade ago.

Directing Kristen Stewart Like "Wrangling a Herd of Cats"

"She's very vulpine—very wolfish—and wily, kind of twitchy. Directing her is kind of like wrangling a herd of cats."

—Welcome to the Rileys director Jake Scott when asked at a recent screening of the flick what it was like working with his leading lady, Kristen Stewart

Now, before you get your Krisbian panties in a twist, the dude meant it in a good way. We think. Either way, he ended up über-impressed with Kristen's performance in the movie—and she did, too!

"[Kristen]'s been playing this same character in—what?—two or three movies now, and that frustrates her," Scott dished on Twilight.

"She wants to be taken seriously as an actress—and the crazy thing is, before Twilight, she was doing that kind of work...She's very proud of her work in this movie."

One of those prevamp projects was actually how Kris landed the part as a runaway stripper in this family drama. Scott said he thought, "Oh my god, who is this kid?" when he saw Into the Wild. As he left the movie theater, he called Kristen's people and had an appointment set for the next day.

Toby Keith tops Billboard 200 albums chart

Country singer Toby Keith tops the Billboard 200 albums chart with his Bullets in the Gun, selling 71,000. Kenny Chesney’s Hemingway’s Whiskey, last week’s chart-topper, falls to No. 2 with 65,000. Bruno Mars‘ Doo-Wops & Hooligans enters at No. 3 with 55,000. With its lead single, “Just the Way You Are,” spending three weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and download popularity nearing double platinum status, this is a bit disappointing opening week for him. You’d think that with millions all over the country humming his tunes, at least 10-15% of them would support his album.

Waka Flocka Flame’s debut album Flockaveli comes in at No. 6 with 37,000 copies sold. Eminem‘s Recovery moves up a spot to No. 4, moving 52,000 units sold. Zac Brown Band’s You Get What You Give drops two places to No. 5 with 43,000 albums sold. While Linkin Park’s A Thousand Suns sold 37,000 and jumps up one place to No. 7. Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream shoots up from No. 18 to No. 8, selling 32,000 copies. Moving 32,000 album’s Trey Songz’s Passion, Pain & Pleasure falls two spots to No. 9. Selena Gomez & the Scene’s A Year Without Rain remains at No. 10 with 27, 000 sets sold.

Listen New Single of Taylor Swift "Back to December"

This is me swallowing my pride, standing in front of you, saying I'm sorry for that night. I go back to December all the time...

As Taylor Swift recently said, the single "Back to December" represents her first apology via song. While the superstar doesn't reveal at whom the words are directed, it's safe to assume she's speaking to Taylor Lautner

How come? Because this pair split up in late December 2009... and because who wouldn't regret breaking up with Taylor Lautner?!? You have seen him without a shirt on, right? Listen song below.

Apple holding ‘Back to the Mac’ event on October 20

This just in: Apple will be holding a media event titled “Back to the Mac” on October 20. The invitation seems to indicate that the focus of the meeting will be on/around Mac OS X 10.7 — maybe to be called “Lion”? — and the Mac. That’s all we have for now. Let the speculation begin.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Steal a Kiss on Set

If Angelina Jolie is stressing on the set of her directorial debut in Hungary, she had some sweet support to calm those nerves: Brad Pitt stopped by Wednesday and gave her a kiss.

Jolie, 35, has teamed up with Oscar-winning producer Graham King on her yet untitled film, which began shooting last week – and she's already assembled a European cast for the love story set against the backdrop of the Bosnian War.

Before joining his family in Hungary, Pitt was filming his new movie Moneyball, most recently in Boston. His children, meanwhile, have enrolled in a French-American school in Budapest.

Despite news that JYJ’s physical hard copy album ‘The Beginning’ being delayed by Warner Music Korea, the digital form has been released right on time online on the various Korean music portals.

The album has a total of 8 tracks and from a quick listen, I think my favorite track is ‘I Love You’ which features the talented Korean American rapper from Queens, Flowsik. Without further ado, check out some of the select tracks below and remember to support the boys by purchasing the music. You can also pre-order the physical hard copy album at Yesasia.

Miriam Yeung and Real Ting's concert wedding: shows off the love on stage

Miriam Yeung's 5 show LADIES & GENTLEMEN WORLD TOUR CONCERT - HONG KONG STOP ended the night before. Besides Andy Hui and Alan Tam being her guests, when Miriam performed "Legend of Superwoman" in a white wedding dress, her husband Real Ting came out wearing a groom's tuxedo to duet with his wife Miriam. It was a very touching scene, which led loud cheers and screams throughout the venue. Real gave a kiss on Miriam's cheeks and then they mutually embraced, a very heartwarming and happy wedding.

Later, the couple left the stage together to change. When Miriam came back on stage with her new outfit, she said: "It was really frightening just now, he won't be singing again. Up until now, it had always been the media who introduced our love, but now stepping into another stage of life, I officially introduce Real to my family (referring to fans). My parents, family and my in-laws came all the way from Shanghai to HK Coliseum, many people really love us."
