Taylor Swift: Could 'Speak Now' sell a million in a week?

Nearly everyone agrees that Taylor Swift‘s third album, Speak Now, is destined to be a hit. The only question is how big. Some people are openly raising the possibility that Speak Now could sell as many as one million copies in its first week — a feat no one has accomplished since Lil Wayne in 2008. Could she really pull this off? The Music Mix found out what a few retail experts have to say.

“I would expect it to be probably the best-selling record of the year for any artist,” says Rob Baker, head of the music department at Nashville’s Great Escape, where Swift herself has been known to shop. Great Escape mostly sells vinyl LPs and used CDs, but Speak Now is one of the few new CDs they’ll be stocking. “If the Beatles put out a new record, we’d be carrying that one too,” Baker jokes. He wouldn’t be surprised to see this one hit the million mark: “Anything’s plausible. I’d say there’s a high probability.”

Across town at Nashville’s Ernest Tubb Record Shop, store manager Stephen Bowen says customers have been asking about Speak Now “quite regularly,” especially the younger female ones. “We’re always excited about a new Taylor Swift,” says Bowen. “Each album, she gets bigger and bigger.” That said, Bowen isn’t sure the current commercial climate will allow for a million-plus debut: “I would say it will be in the hundreds of thousands, but whether it breaks a million — that would be great to hear.” His conservative first-week estimate is somewhere between 250,000 and 300,000 copies sold.

Angelina, Brad Make Out on Set; He Photographs Her

And ... action!

Brad Pitt paid Angelina Jolie another visit on the set of her directorial debut in Hungary Wednesday.

The two were spotted sharing several smooches on a bench.

Pitt, 46, was also seen taking photos of a beaming Jolie, 35.

On Thursday, Jolie released a statement, firing back at critics who are spreading erroneous reports that her still-untitled movie -- a love story between a Serbian man and a Bosnian woman during the 1992-95 war - centers on a rape victim who falls for her captor.

"There are many twists in the plot that address the sensitive nature of the relationship between the main characters, and that will be revealed once the film is released," she said. "My hope is that people will hold judgment until they have seen the film."

Indeed, Nordic countries get it first (starting mid-October, aka, "now") before it's "gradually rolled out to other European markets, Southeast Asia, the Middle East Asia, North America, Africa and rest of the world." Hey, it takes time to update 5 million handsets.

Full Angry Birds Game Now Available on Android for Free

It's been a thorn in any Android user's side, but finally the full Angry Birds game is now available on Android phones...only, not in the Android Market. Instead, Rovio chose to release it, for free, on the GetJar store.

Rovio said that it was an "obvious choice" of GetJar over Android's Market, thanks to the "global reach and popularity as well as their unique App It! download service."

Although it's free to the Android user, the guys at Rovio won't be living off baked beans and cup-a-soup you'll be pleased to know, as it's ad-supported. That's not a big problem to you guys, is it? Extra Angry Birds levels in exchange for a few adverts?

SNSD reaches gold selling 100,000 copies of their first Japanese single

With their second Japanese single “Gee” priming to take Japan by storm in less than a week, the girls of Shoujo Jidai (SNSD) are celebrating their latest success. Their debut Japanese single, “GENIE“, has been certified ‘Gold’ by the RIAJ for shipping over 100,000 copies in the month of September.

According to Oricon, the single has sold 88,735 copies so far, and is #62 on the year-end charts, which is up there with the likes of Namie Amuro (“Break It/Get Myself Back” at #63) and Koda Kumi (“Gossip Candy” at #64)! The Oricon year still has a few weeks to go, so this isn’t their final position – but fear not, SNSD fans! “GENIE” is still hanging on: it can be spotted on the charts at its latest daily position of #22 (as of October 13th).

Charlene Choi denies William Chan killed her marriage

Hong Kong singer-actress Charlene Choi denied rumours that current boyfriend, singer William Chan, was the third party in her failed marriage to Hong Kong actor Ronald Cheng, reported Hong Kong media on Thursday.

"Although I have known William for many years, we have always been just very good friends. It was only recently, after spending more time with him that I realised we match very well.

"It was only after I got divorced and became single that I started to like William," Choi told reporters.

"I did not plan on starting a new relationship so soon, but since it is Heaven's will that I found a man who really cherished me, I decided to push aside all my concerns and accept his feelings," Choi added.

Responding to recent media reports that claim her relationship with Chan was a ruse to create buzz for her new album, Choi insisted that it was genuine love and revealed that she had brought Chan to meet her father already.

S.H.E’s Ella nurses a broken heart

Singer escapes to New York after tacitly admitting that her boyfriend two-timed her

Nothing beats the pain of having your boyfriend two-time you and having to admit that he did, which was exactly what happened to Ella from Taiwanese girl band S.H.E.

During her appearance for fellow member Hebe's post concert celebration, she admitted to the reporters that she met a "bad person" and that they have not been in contact for a long time when asked about her boyfriend Tommy Chao, a chief executive officer of a finance company.

Tommy, who was secretly dating Ella for more than a year, was seen picking up a sexy lady and checking into a hotel. The singer-actress was working in China at that time.

Word has it that they broke up after the incident, but Ella has remained tight-lipped about her personal life.

She would be flying to New York for a study tour at the end of the month.

Ella will be hitting the big screen for the first time next year when she returns from the states.

Box office preview: 'Jackass 3D' and 'Red' compete for top slot this weekend

Ladies and Gentlemen, we may actually have a race on our hands this weekend at the movies, now that the once-ignored old-fogey actioner Red is gaining momentum on Jackass 3D when it comes to tracking. Men over 30 are still the audience most anticipating Red — which stars Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren and John Malkovich — but if Summit Entertainment can lure the ladies, the film could finish first. On the opposite spectrum, Jackass is appealing to the young male moviegoer, as expected. But there’s the fact that Johnny Knoxville’s last endeavor, Jackass Number Two, earned $29 million back in 2006 — that gross coupled with the extra charge for 3-D on this go-around still makes the gross-out stunt comedy a formidable opponent. Read on for my predictions.

1. Jackass 3D: $30 million

It would probably be a big disappointment if Paramount couldn’t exceed its opening weekend gross earned by Jackass Number Two four years ago. What with all the ridiculous promotion and 3-D extras, it seems like a $30 million opening is in the bag. Yet, with the box office acting so strange lately, and no film opening in the $30 million range since The Expendables bowed in mid-August, anything is possible.

Hot tub high jinks: Katherine Heigl's sexy time with husband Josh Kelley brings the cops to her door

She just wanted some quiet alone time with her husband at their Los Feliz, CA home after he'd been away on tour.

But Katherine Heigl's attempted make-out session with her husband Josh Kelley on Tuesday night has now made headlines after her neighbours accused the couple of being too noisy.

The actress explained her backyard hi-jinks to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show this morning and says she was actually the one to call the LAPD.

'The other night, my husband and I, we were chillin' in the hot tub, it was just the two of us.

'We had just put the baby down, it was like 8:30, 9 at night,' she recalled.

'He's been gone, he was on tour, he was only home for three days. I wore my most ridiculous bikini, it was awesome.'

Google posts strong Q3 financial results

Google continues to pile up the money, beating analyst estimates today for revenue and earnings for its third quarter.

Third-quarter revenue, excluding the traffic acquisition costs Google pays to its partners, was $5.48 billion, exceeding estimates from analysts polled by Yahoo Finance of $5.25 billion for the quarter. Overall revenue of $7.29 billion increased by 23 percent, compared to last year's third quarter, on the back of a 16 percent jump in paid clicks across Google's network of Web sites.

"We're very pleased with our Q3 results, and it's clear that the digital economy continues to grow rapidly," Google's Patrick Pichette, chief financial officer, said on a conference call following Google's announcement.

Net income was $2.17 billion, a 32 percent increase compared to net income of $1.64 billion a year ago. Earnings per share, excluding the effects of certain one-time costs and stock option compensation costs, were $7.64, as compared to analyst estimates of $6.67.

Revenue from both Google-owned sites, powered by AdWords ads, and Google network sites, powered by AdSense ads, grew 22 percent, compared to the prior year. Google's own sites account for 67 percent of its revenue, while partner sites chip in 30 percent of the overall total.

Angelina Jolie: Don't Jump to Conclusions About Bosnian Film

Angelina Jolie is slamming false reports claiming her directorial debut involves a rape victim who falls in love with her captor.

The rumors circulated after Jolie, 35, was denied a filming permit in Bosnia because no screenplay was attached to the application, as required by law.

"There are many twists in the plot that address the sensitive nature of the relationship between the main characters, and that will be revealed once the film is released," Jolie said in a statement. "My hope is that people will hold judgment until they have seen the film."

Previously, a production source told UsMagazine.com that Jolie was upset over the inaccurate reports.

"This is not the story in the script," the source told Us. "There are people trying to sabotage the movie."

To settle any confusion, the script was sent to the culture ministry to hopefully reverse the filming permit decision.

"It is highly likely the script will be reviewed within a day or so," a second source told Us, "and all of this will be resolved."

And Jolie wants the Women Victims of War association in Bosnia to know that she plans to direct the film with the utmost sensitivity.

"Obviously, any dramatic interpretation will always fail those who have had a real experience," she said.

Has Adam Sandler been hitting the wax strips? Actor shows off his incredibly smooth legs in a little plaid skirt

For a burly dark haired man Adam Sandler has some seriously smooth legs.

The 44-year-old actor showed off his luscious legs earlier today as he filmed scenes in Hollywood's Griffith Park for his new comedy film Jack and Jill.

Sandler was in full drag, dressed in a little frilled plaid skirt, white T-shirt, red cardigan and matching red sandals.

To complete his gender transformation Sandler wore a scraggly brunette wig that was plaited into shoulder length braids.

The star finished off his look with a silver charm bracelet on his left wrist, a long silver necklace that hung over his ample bosom, cherry embossed handbag and bright red nail polish on his fingernails.

Palm Pre 2 will be on Verizon

The Palm Pre 2 is coming soon. That much is clear. We already know its specs, we’ve also seen some live hands-on pictures, and today’s leak is about its presence in the United States.

Previous leaks either came from French carrier SFR or were related to the device it will sell. But now it looks like the WebOS 2.0-powered beast is headed to Verizon. That’s what this leaked screencap from Big Red’s internal VZLearn system suggests. This portal has training information for Verizon employees.

“Top Gun 2″ — Sequel To Tom Cruise’s 1986 Hit “Top Gun” On The Horizon

Top Gun 2 is preparing for take-off. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, aka Tom Cruise, has agreed to reprise his role of the sexually conflicted, karaoke-loving flyboy in the long-delayed sequel to the 1986 flight-themed romantic drama Top Gun.

Hey Hollywood, The ’80s called — and they want you to leave their movies alone!

Your Compliance Would Be Most Appreciated!

Nearly 25 years after Tom Cruise played iconic hero “Maverick” in the action film, Paramount Pictures has commenced discussions to revive the 80′s cult classic, New York Magazine said Wednesday. Viacom execs are negotiating with the film’s original producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Tony Scott to work on Top Gun 2.

Don’t forget to page the supporting stars of the original cast who played memorable roles like Goose, Iceman, and Charlie. They’re also being courted to reportedly take part in the project.

Cruise’s starring role in the original will be much smaller in the sequel, according to industry experts. While the former heartthrob was a protagonist in the first Top Gun, Mr. Katie Holmes will likely join the new cast as a flight instructor.

Do we really need another Top Gun?

Eric Schmidt: Multiple Android App Stores A “Net Win For Everybody”

Over the last few months, there’s been quite a bit of buzz (and some unease) building around a new kind of fragmentation that’s coming to Google’s Android OS. Up until now, the primary way people have downloaded third party applications has been through the official Android Market, an online app marketplace run by Google that’s analogous to Apple’s App Store. But things are going to get more complicated very soon.

Verizon, which has been Google’s biggest ally in helping Android get massive distribution, is launching its own app store. Amazon is planning to launch one as well, and there are doubtless more to come. And while these new App Stores seem like they could confuse users, Google CEO Eric Schmidt has made the company’s stance very clear: he says that multiple Android app markets are a “net win for everybody”.

The issue came up during Google’s earnings conference call, when an analyst asked what Google thought about these new app markets that are popping up. Here’s Schmidt’s answer (we were transcribing from a live call so it is a bit paraphrased):

The goal of the stores is to make money for people writing the applications, not a revenue goal for Google. There will certainly be multiple stores – including a key one from us. It’s a net win for everybody.

This jives with Google’s messaging around other Android issues: competition is good, and the market will decide what works and what doesn’t. In the long run, I think they’re right, but in the short term this could spell frustration: what happens when an app store demands exclusivity from a developer? And how will a user react when they can’t use the same payment mechanism from store to store, or the pricing and availability differs? Consumers may be used to having to shop around in the real world, but this is a totally different paradigm from what’s been established on smart phones for the last two years.

James Cameron to direct Angelina Jolie in Cleopatra?

It’s incredibly early, but a source confirms Deadline Hollywood’s report today that James Cameron — the biggest director in the world — is having exploratory conversations with Sony Pictures about coming aboard the Cleopatra project the studio is developing for Angelina Jolie as a star vehicle. The conversations are very early on, but Brian Helgeland (Green Zone, Robin Hood) is writing the script and Social Network producer Scott Rudin is on board to produce. The project is based on Stacy Schiff’s book Cleopatra: A Life.

That is one A-list combination, and it would be interesting to see them tackle the fascinating story of the Egyptian queen. Stay tuned…

Amy Adams to star opposite Jason Segel in 'The Muppets' (Exclusive)

Amy Adams is in final negotiations to star in Disney’s The Muppets. The deal is not yet closed, but sources tell EW.com that she is nearing a signed agreement to play Jason Segel’s girlfriend who joins him on a road trip to Los Angeles to the Muppet Studios. The film, which reunites the Muppets on the big screen for the first time since 1999′s Muppets From Space, will be directed by James Bobin (co-director of Flight of the Conchords) from a script by Segal and Nick Stoller (director of Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek).

Production is set to begin in November in Los Angeles and will introduce a new Muppet named Walter. Disney has set Christmas 2011 for its release date.

How Cozy Did Blake Lively and Ryan Gosling Get?

Earlier this week we told you how Blake Lively and Ryan Gosling were deliciously spotted after hours at Disneyland together, and we have a love update for ya.

The comments were totally torn, half of you thinking they are the perfect blonde duo, the other fuming that B.L. might not still be with her Gossip Girl costar, Penn Badgley.

Well, here's the scoop:

Looks like this couple is too pretty to be true.

While Lively's rep wouldn't comment, she did tell our bitchy bro's at Gossip Cop that Penn and Blake are still very much together, noting there were 15 people at Disneyland with them.

Hmm, not so much in the late-night photos—but we'll bite.

We're a fan of Penn and Blake together too. Plus it keeps our beloved Ry-Ry on the market!

Still, we could so see these two hooking up at some point in the future. Especially if they make the rounds during awards season for Gosling and Lively's respected flicks Blue Valentine and The Town.

So, you all happy or sad Blosling isn't happening (for now)?

Christina Aguilera Files for Divorce

Just days after confirming that she had separated on Sept. 11 from her husband Jordan Bratman, Christina Aguilera has filed for divorce, a source close to the singer confirms to PEOPLE.

In the papers, Aguilera cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split.

She also asked for joint physical and legal custody of their son, Max, TMZ reports.

Aguilera, 29, and Bratman, 33, wed in California's Napa Valley in November 2005, after becoming engaged in Carmel, Calif., in February of that year. Their only child, Max, was born in January 2008.

Earlier this week, Aguilera told PEOPLE: "Although Jordan and I are separated, our commitment to our son Max remains as strong as ever."

Nokia N8 review

The first time Nokia's N8-00 popped up on our radar was way back in early February of this year. On that chilly, misty morning, we learned of a mythical being capable of shooting 12 megapixel stills, recording 720p video, outputting via HDMI, and -- most importantly -- ushering in the promised Symbian^3 touch revolution. It's been a long road of leaks, teasers, hands-ons, and previews since then, but at long last, the legend of the N8 has become a purchasable commodity. All the early specs have survived, including the 3.5-inch AMOLED display, but the key question today, as it was at the beginning, relates to that all-new software within: does Symbian^3 succeed in elevating Nokia's touchscreen experience or does it drag down an otherwise stellar combination of high-end parts? For that verdict and much, much more, join us after the break.

Verizon Wireless to sell Apple’s Wi-Fi iPad starting October 28

It might not be the Apple-Verizon tie-in you are most anxious to see happen, but the big red network has gone official with its plans to offer the iPad in its brick-and-mortar stores starting on October 28. VZW will be bundling the WiFi-only iPads with its own MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot with pricing set at $630, $730 and $830 for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants of Apple's tablet, respectively. There's only one access plan on offer for now, granting users 1GB of monthly data allowance in exchange for $20 and no contractual commitments. AT&T will match the release date and upfront prices for each model, although its iPads will be of the WiFi + 3G variety, eschewing the need for a bundled MiFi; plan pricing will continue at 200MB for $15 or 2GB for $25 monthly.

Gwyneth Paltrow “Country Song” Music VIDEO

Gwyneth’s Gone Country: GOOP guru and Oscar-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow is flexing her vocal muscles — again — in a music video from her upcoming movie, Country Strong, opening in select cities on Dec. 22.

What do you think? Should Gwynie stick to Gooping or is Girlie bound for The Grand Ole Opry?

Samsung Galaxy Tab gets video unboxing

Consider us suitably jealous; while most countries are still waiting to hear even some official pricing from Samsung, would-be German tableteers can already buy the 7-inch Galaxy Tab slate. Carrypad is one of the first on the scene with an unboxing video and hands-on demo.

There’s not a huge amount in the box with the Tab itself: you get an AC adapter, with interchangeable power tips for international use, and a USB sync/charge cable. Finally there’s a wired stereo hands-free kit and some basic documentation. Samsung obviously have a lot of their own accessories, such as the keyboard dock, HDMI dock and Bluetooth stylus, but you’ll have to pick those up separately.

The US versions of the Galaxy Tab – which are headed to Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon – are still yet to get an official launch date, though rumors peg them at around mid-November. Meanwhile the UK version is due on November 1st, and expected to cost around £599 contract-free or £199 subsidized.

JYJ’s ‘The Beginning’ has sold over 520,000 albums in pre-order sales

It was recently reported that the trio JYJ have already received 520,000 album pre-orders for their new album, ‘The Beginning’.

On October 14th, JYJ’s album distributors, Warner Music Korea, revealed, “Out of the limited number of 99,999 special albums we produced, we have received over 300,000 pre-orders for their special album, and 220,000 for their regular album. Because of this, it has been taking some time trying to coordinate the demand and supply to various stores. Today will be the first time the album will be on sale for the fans, while the special album will be released later on the [October] 18th.”

Warner Music Korea expressed, “With 520,000 albums sold just through pre-orders, JYJ’s ‘The Beginning’ has so far become the best sold album this year, and many are expecting this to revitalize the depression of album sales.”

Lastly, they added, “We were able to feel the explosive interest from fans, after receiving three times more album pre-orders for their special album than the original quantity we produced. We will soon be exploring more ways for purchasing their special album, especially for those fans who have not been able to get hold of them.”

iPhone for Verizon Landing in March 2011, Analyst Predicts

Even if Target and Sam’s Club are getting ready to launch the iPhone in their own stores across the nation, talk about the iPhone launching on Verizon continues. While initial rumors paint the launch of the iDevice for Big Red’s network anywhere in the first half of 2011, it looks like one analyst believes that it’s “on track” for a March, 2011 release date. But, as we’ve heard in the past, it looks like the CDMA iPhone won’t just be for Verizon, but for other international markets as well.

With talk that India is vying for their own version of the CDMA-based iPhone, as well as other markets with non-GSM networks, the belief that Apple is hard at work on a CDMA variant for their popular device is growing. According to Brian Marshall, an analyst for Gleacher & Co., the Verizon iPhone is “on track” for a launch in March of next year. And this isn’t the first time he’s made such a statement, as he pegged that particular month as a launch date five months ago.

First Lee DeWyze Single: Listen Now!

Lee DeWyze seems like a very nice guy and possesses perfectly solid music talent.

Then again, this combination hasn't resulted in much professional success for the two American Idol winners that preceded Lee, David Cook and Kris Allen.

Will DeWyze enjoy a different outcome when his debut CD comes out on November 16? We'll see. In the meantime, the guitar-playing crooner has released his first single. Listen to "Sweet Serendipity" now and chime in with your take on it:

Insider: Angelina Jolie's Movie Doesn't Involve a Rape Romance

Contrary to reports, Angelina Jolie's directorial debut doesn't involve a rape victim falling in love with her captor, an insider tells UsMagazine.com.

The erroneous story circulated earlier this week when Jolie, 35, was denied a filming permit in Bosnia because no screenplay was attached to the application, as required by law. Reports surfaced that the screenplay wasn't attached because it centered around a Serbian rapist and his Muslim victim. BBC News even reported that the Women Victims of War association said the movie was "misleading history."

A production source tells Us Jolie is furious that this story is making the rounds.

"This is not the story in the script," a source tells Us. "There are people trying to sabotage the movie."

To settle any misunderstandings, the script has been sent to the culture ministry to try and reverse the filming permit decision.

"It is highly likely the script will be reviewed within a day or so," a second source tells Us, "and all of this will be resolved."

Google, Bing market share creeps up

Google and Microsoft's Bing continue to pick up snippets of the U.S. search engine market at the expense of Yahoo, according to the latest stats from ComScore.

For September, Google's share of the 16 billion "explicit core" searches inched up 0.7 point from August and accounted for 66.1 percent of the market, while Microsoft eked out a 0.1 point rise to grab 11.2 percent. Although Yahoo remains in second place with a 16.7 percent slice of the market, it shed 0.7 point in the month.

Looking at sheer numbers, Google captured 10.6 billion such searches in the U.S. last month, a 3 percent gain from August. Yahoo accounted for 2.7 billion, a decline of 2 percent. Microsoft represented 1.8 billion, a rise of 3 percent.

ComScore's numbers, released yesterday, take into account all of a company's search properties. So, for example, Google's results include searches on its main page, YouTube, Google News, Google Images, and other pages.

Jimmy Lin has an early birthday party; Cecilia Cheung, Tang Wei join the celebration

Tomorrow (10/15/2010) is Jimmy Lin’s 36th birthday. He rushed back to Taiwan last month for his precious son’s birthday party but has to spend his own birthday at work. Even though he is not with his family his co-stars Rene Liu, Cecilia Cheung, Tang Wei and the Korean actor Han Jae Suk gave him a surprise party. The surprised Jimmy is touched.

Jimmy is at the Zhuhai International Circuit filming director Jingle Ma Cho Shing’s racing movie. The team found out about Jimmy’s up-coming birthday and gave him a surprise party. He said, “Racing is my interest and career. I am very grateful that Director Ma gives me this chance to work on the big screen again. I learned a lot from him. This movie has a very strong cast (Tang Wei, Rene Liu, Cecilia Cheung, Han Jae Suk) and is not to be missed.

Nicolas Tse came to the set, and the two fathers talked about their parenting experience. Seeing Nicolas’s son, Jimmy can’t help but think of his own son Kimi. He talks to his son daily via webcam. He said, “My birthday wish is to see Kimi grow up safe and happy. This is every parent’s wish.”

Dell Streak, HTC Surround, white Samsung Fascinate, and Taylor Swift-ified white SE X10 coming to Best Buy exclusively

We've got a little more detail on those four new pre-orderable phones up in Best Buy Mobile's business this week now that the news has gone from leak status to official, and needless to say, the truth is even stranger than fiction. The Dell Streak will be available for the first time in retail stores for $299.99 on contract come October 24, joined by a white version of Verizon's Samsung Fascinate for $149.99 on contract; those two will be followed on November 8 by the HTC Surround for $199. Here's where it gets interesting, though: the white Sony Ericsson X10 for AT&T -- also rumored in our original leak -- will come pre-loaded with "The Essential Taylor Swift Experience," which frankly doesn't paint a picture of the target demographic we'd really expected. But hey, we like surprises! What does her essential experience entail, exactly? Two albums, a new single, ringtone and video content, and access to her new album when it launches on October 25. This bad boy also comes in on October 24 for $99 on contract. Best Buy claims that all four of these are in-store exclusives... which, particularly with the Surround, is pretty insane.
