Hong Kong singer-actress Charlene Choi denied rumours that current boyfriend, singer William Chan, was the third party in her failed marriage to Hong Kong actor Ronald Cheng, reported Hong Kong media on Thursday.
"Although I have known William for many years, we have always been just very good friends. It was only recently, after spending more time with him that I realised we match very well.
"It was only after I got divorced and became single that I started to like William," Choi told reporters.
"I did not plan on starting a new relationship so soon, but since it is Heaven's will that I found a man who really cherished me, I decided to push aside all my concerns and accept his feelings," Choi added.
Responding to recent media reports that claim her relationship with Chan was a ruse to create buzz for her new album, Choi insisted that it was genuine love and revealed that she had brought Chan to meet her father already.
"Our relationship has only just begun. My father did not have many comments about Chan, but he really supports me and feels that it is okay as long as I am happy," said Choi.
The 27-year-old singer-actress went on to give details about the recent developments in her relationship with Chan, 25.
Choi said that the couple often cycled together and talked about fashion though they had a rule against reading the newspapers or magazines lest the reports upset them.
She also said that they were very compatible and were able to quickly resolve any spats they had because one of them is always willing to give in and make up with the other.
