Larry Rudolph to Craft Lindsay Lohan Comeback

Larry Rudolph, crisis manager-in-chief of the great Britney Spears, is now at the helm of resurrecting the career of another train wreck: Lindsay Lohan.

The man behind Britney's 2008-09 comeback is now taking on re-launching the career of Lohan, who has famously done time in jail and rehab this summer.

“She’s very motivated, and she’s in a good place now,” Rudolph said on the red carpet of the 2010 MTV VMAs. “I really think that it’s going to work.”

Lohan’s first step back was playing the role of disciplinarian to VMA host Chelsea Handler in the show's opening sketch, and she is already in talks to host SNL.

Rudolph says, presumably seriously, that firecrotch is so awesome, you can only keep her down for so long before this once-in-a-generation talent shines:

“When you’ve got that much talent - you can never count somebody out. She’s incredibly smart, she’s incredibly talented. She has everything she needs.”

Video: And the Winner of 'Top Chef' Is ...

The 'Top Chef' finale failed to disappoint when it came to good food and better surprises.

Maybe it was the unexpected way Padma Lakshmi announced it, bypassing the usual reality tradition of eliminating the second-runner up first. Instead, the first person she targeted out of the three remaining finalists was the winner.

Head judge Tom Colicchio said of the winner, "The Top Chef is the one who took the most risks, but also cooked the best meal." He also said he would have liked to have awarded the top prize to all three of the remaining finalists. With two chefs from New York and one from New Jersey, one thing was certain. It was a guaranteed East Coast victory.

HTC Desire Z priced at €549 by Amazon.de, £430 by Play.com

A day after becoming official, the Desire Z has received its first price: €549 if bought from Amazon.de. Alas, you still don't have the option to actually purchase or pre-order the unlocked Froyo slider, but at least we've got a relative idea of where its pricing fits within HTC's handset hierarchy. The answer is pretty highly, considering the original Desire, a flagship product in its time, debuted on the same web outlet at €519. And here we hoped the G2's decent US pricing would translate to similar affordability for its sister device. Seems like the usual rule applies: you'd better be patient, rich, or both if you want to have the latest smartphone.

Halo Reach sells 300k in first UK day

Chart Track's released the first UK numbers for Halo Reach, which it's said sold an estimated 300,000 copies in its first 24 hours on sale.

According to figures just released by UKIE/GfK-Chart Track, Reach is on course to set new records within the video games and interactive entertainment industry.

The impressive first day UK sales already position the 360 exclusive at number ten within the all-time best ever weekly sales for an individual title in the UK - and there are still plenty of days to go.

Earlier this morning Microsoft confirmed the game made $200m worldwide on its first day on sale, calling it the biggest entertainment launch of the year.

The Halo franchise as a whole has shifted more than 3.67 million copies in the UK up to the end of July 2010, making a total of £109,068,532 in the region.

Comical version of “Fugitive” poster released

The second poster for “Fugitive” has been released, and it seems the plot won’t be all serious, as the actors are shown in smiles and various comical poses. The wildly anticipated drama was revealed to not only be an action thriller, but also to have elements of a romantic comedy as well.

The main writer and director, who also collaborated on the hit drama “Chuno”, stated that actors Jung Ji Hoon, Lee Na Young, and Lee Jung Jin will be the action and drama for the series, while Sung Dongeen and Gong Hyun Jin will provide comic relief.

T-Mobile accessories guide shows Windows Phone 7 and others coming in November?

It looks like TMoNews has gotten there mitts on — what appears to be anyway — an accessories guide for U.S. carrier T-Mobile. What sets this list apart from others is that it details the availability of accessories for several unreleased, and even a few unknown, handsets. First and foremost, the sheet lists several cases for the HTC HD7 — a Windows Phone 7 device — as November 1. Want more? How about accessories for the LG Optimus T for November 1, Dell Claire for November 15, BlackBerry Bold 9780 for November 15, and Motorola Begonia for November 1. A phone simply referred to as the “Comet” is also listed with the date of November 1; no manufacturer is listed.

We have a pretty good idea of what the HD7, Optiums T, and Bold 9780 will look like. The Begonia, Comet, and Claire, however, are all new discoveries.

It is important to keep in mind that these are not handset launch dates, but rather dates that accessories will be available; TMoNews doesn’t specify whether that availability is to stores or warehouses or what. Regardless, if accessories are being made, the handsets have to be put into the wild soon. Anything on this laundry list enticing?

Microsoft Predicts 3 Million Kinect Sales Over the Holidays

Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg thinks that Kinect launch will be bigger than that of the Xbox 360 itself.

Motion controls are one of the more heated battles in the console war. Nintendo struck the first blow with the Wii, and now Microsoft and Sony are entering the fray with Kinect and Move. Sony has warned that Move sales might start off a little slow, but Microsoft seems more confident with Kinect, predicting that millions of people will buy the system when it launches in November.

Xbox product director Greenberg said that by Microsoft's estimates, Kinect was going to sell three million units over the holiday season. He said that that figure was based on retailer feedback - which Greenberg said was very sophisticated - as well as Microsoft's own research. According to Greenberg, Microsoft is spending more on marketing Kinect than it did on the launch of the Xbox 360, and believes it will be more successful.

Golden glow: Yellow-haired Lady Gaga shows off her new tattoo

Back to the day job for Lady Gaga - and after her memorable appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards, she certainly tried to switch things up.

The 24-year-old singer stepped onstage at Philadephia's Wachovia Center in a custard-yellow wig, and a dizzying array of revealing costumes.

She looked rather like one of Jim Henson's Muppet creations with the violent hair colour which for once managed to take some of the attention away from her 'look at me' outfits.

Gaga ditched the grey wig she wore for the VMAs in favour of the yellow one as she resumed touring duties on her mammoth Fame Monster Tour last night.

And it looks like no style stone was left unturned as she paraded onstage in outfits made of metal, foam pyramids, and her favourite PVC drenched in blood.

But the other talking point of the night was the new tattoo she revealed.

At the 2010 Video Music Awards Lady Gaga actually revealed the name of her new album when receiving the award for video of the year (for Bad Romance) - Born This Way.

Miley Cyrus raises eyebrows as she visits the deli in see-through vest top

Miley Cyrus proves once again that she is no shrinking violet as she heads out to the deli - wearing a see-through top.

The 17-year-old singer, who's constantly in the spotlight over her provocative clothing and racy stage routines, was snapped in Hollywood today, buying a sandwich and smoothie at Whole Foods.

And the sheer grey top left little to the imagination, revealing the former Hannah Montana star's underwear beneath.

These latest pictures of the star come days after she raised eyebrows after being caught in a very passionate clinch with her on-again boyfriend Liam Hemsworth, 20.

The Disney star was dropping the Australian actor off after an outing together, with the couple's farewell kissing session lingering for more than ten minutes.

Angelina Jolie and lovelorn Johnny Depp get romantic in first look at the The Tourist

They spent the summer together in two of the World's most romantic countries, Italy and France, shooting the movie.

And now a trailer has been released for the highly anticipated new action film The Tourist starring Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie.

The short preview of the film shows the two stars getting up close and personal on several occasions suggesting the film might have a very 'Mr and Mrs Smith feel'.

The movie, directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, is about Frank Taylor (Depp), an American tourist visiting Italy to help mend his broken heart.

He meets Elise (Jolie), an extraordinary woman who, it transpires, crossed his path deliberately.

The two become involved in a mysterious series of events that push them closer and closer together.

The film also stars Paul Bettany and Timothy Dalton.

Angelina sparked fury among the fans of Patricia Cornwell's bestselling crime novels by being chosen to play its heroine Kay Scarpetta.

Adobe begins 64-bit Flash Player test

Adobe Systems released a preview version of its widely used Flash Player plug-in that catches up to newer trends in Web browser development: 64-bit designs and support for the newly Internet Explorer 9 beta.

The new Flash beta, code-named Square, is available for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux, siad Adobe's Paul Betlem in a blog post today. The download is on Adobe Labs; note that if you install Square, you'll have to manually update it on your own.

The move isn't a big surprise--in June, the Adobe said 64-bit Flash is a "top priority"--but it will mean a major transition for Web developers. And it's important in Adobe's effort to maintain Flash's incumbent power in light of new Web standards that offer many Flash abilities without a browser plug-in.

The computing industry is in the midst of a gradual transition to 64-bit computing that started years ago with processors, moved through the operating system, and now is arriving with mainstream programs. Although 32-bit software runs on 64-bit operating systems, you generally can't get a 32-bit plug-in to run in a 64-bit browser.

Facebook Competitor Diaspora Revealed: Sparse, But Clean; Source Code Released

A post has just gone up on Diaspora’s blog revealing what the project actually looks like for the first time. While it’s not yet ready to be released to the public, the open-source social networking project is giving the world a glimpse of what it looks like today and also releasing the project code, as promised.

At first glance, this preview version of Diaspora looks sparse, but clean. Oddly enough, with its big pictures and stream, it doesn’t look unlike Apple’s new Ping music social network mixed with yes, Facebook. A few features they note:
  • Share status messages and photos privately and in near real time with your friends through “aspects”.
  • Friend people across the Internet no matter where Diaspora seed is located.
  • Manage friends using “aspects”
  • Upload of photos and albums
  • All traffic is signed and encrypted (except photos, for now).

The bluesy crooner is trading his fedora for a national tour, a shot at a show on the Las Vegas strip, and a prize with $1 million.

The Waveland, Mississippi native was revealed as the winner of the NBC variety competition just 24 hours after fans cast their votes at the conclusion of Tuesday’s show. Early in the competition, Grimm impressed judges with his rendition of Jann Arden’s ‘You Don’t Know Me.” During his Top 4 performance on Tuesday, Michael earned a standing ovation from the audience for his rendition of “When A Man Loves A Woman.”

Justin Bieber Movie Release Date Feb. 11, 2011

Save the date, Beliebers: On Wednesday, Paramount Pictures set a release date of Feb. 11, 2011 for the buzzed-about Justin Bieber concert film, a 3D excursion offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at one of the biggest pop stars of today.

“[It's] a movie for his fans, a movie for people who don’t know him, and we’re gonna tell the underdog story of where he came from,” says Step Up 3D director Jon Chu, who will also be stepping behind the camera for the Bieber film. “Because it’s a really fascinating story and it has a lot to do with our sort of digital lifestyle now. He was able to do what corporations try to do now when they use YouTube and they don’t even know what to do with it yet. It’s a pretty cool story for our time.”

Keri Russell Nude For Esquire Oct. 2010

The mom has teamed up with Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz to appear as the object of affection for a wealthy “manchild,” played by Will Arnett. 'Idol' to accept auditions via MySpace

American Idol has entered the MySpace era (aka 2006), and is tapping into the powerful musical legacies of Toni Basil, Billy Ray Cyrus, and the Crash Test Dummies. Nope, I’m not pulling your leg. For the first time in its ten-season history, Fox’s behemoth of a singing competition is giving contestants the chance to audition online at myspace.com/americanidol from now through Oct. 6. Hopefuls between the ages of 15 and 28 (as of July 15, 2010) can submit 40-second videos in which they belt out one of 90 pre-approved tracks (listed below). Idol producers will then invite a select number of online auditioners to the next round of callbacks in Los Angeles. (For the record, the callback round is the first portion of the Idol process that takes place in front of celebrity judges; the open-call auditions that have been taking place at stadium-sized venues across the country for the last month occur in front of producers, who narrow down tens of thousands of contestants to more manageable numbers.)

Theoretically, I love this idea as much as the bag of Cheetos I shamefully scarfed down about an hour ago. I mean, should a future Fantasia or Daughtry see a dream get crushed just because he or she can’t afford transportation to the nearest audition city, or can’t score a day off from the old nine-to-five? Heck, no! The only thing that makes me skittish is the pre-approved song list: For the love of Spyro Gyra, when are the show’s producers going to hire a list of “song-clearance professionals” whose tastes aren’t confined by the bookends of Golden Oldies and Tragique Novelty Hits? Okay, I’m a little intrigued that “Physical Attraction,” an album cut from Madonna’s debut disc, found its way on here — does this mean a Madge Week is nigh? — nor could one go wrong with “What I Am” or “Sweet Thing” or “Little Lies.” But are they kidding with “Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm” and “Safety Dance” and “Dream Weaver”? Maybe some of these tracks are simply traps, and the contestants who pick ‘em will face automatic disqualification?

iOS 4.2 on iPad: There's No Going Back

It's a revelation. It's the way the iPad always should've been. With iOS 4.2 there's multitasking, a unified inbox, folders and... Helvetica in Notes.

We are talking about a beta that's two months from a final release, so not everything's done. But iOS 4.2 on iPad already feels so good, even if it is things we're just used to by now on the iPhone.

The Killers: IE used to be a real pain

Among the many partners touting the new version of Internet Explorer on Wednesday was the rock band The Killers, which has a new HTML 5-based Web site that screams in Microsoft's latest browser.

But the Killers haven't always been such big fans of Redmond's work.

Naveen Jain, CEO of Oakland-based Sparkart, which designs the band's Web site, says a huge chunk of his time in the past was spent testing and tweaking the site to make sure it worked with Internet Explorer.

"Historically, as Web developers, my team hasn't had the best relationship with Microsoft," he said. "From a QA (quality assurance) perspective, we used to have to do all sorts of custom work to support IE6."

Fahrenheit celebrates 5 year anniversary

Fahrenheit celebrated their five year anniversary by going cycling on the 15th – to reduce the emission of carbon dioxide as part of promoting awareness to global warming because it's...."Super Hot". After five years of being together, Wu Chun laughed, “We’ve become more talkative in these five years! I find myself having a growing interest in behind the scenes work. I hope to try out screenwriting in the near future.” Jiro Wang on the other hand expressed, “This fifth year anniversary is only the beginning. We will work hard to achieve the same level of success as S.H.E!” Fahrenheit reconfirmed that there will “definitely be a next album.”

Calvin Chen was rather emotional and stated, “I thank our company very much for giving the four of us, Fahrenheit, the chance to be on stage, and always making a balanced decision on what is needed in the market and what we want to do for our music.”

Google Music: Part iTunes, Part Lala, Part Awesome. But…

An article yesterday on Billboard gives some new details into Google’s upcoming music store plans. Over the past several years, there have been no shortage of services that have launched with the hopes of being the “iTunes killer”, but if the details told to Billboard by “industry sources” are true, and if Google can actually get the labels to agree to what they want to do (a big, no huge “if”), Google Music sounds like it could be a very serious threat to iTunes.

Here’s the basic gist of what Google is supposedly proposing: they want to offer an online music store not unlike iTunes, but run entirely through the web browser (and perhaps an app on Android devices). But users would have the choice of downloading some content to their mobile devices to take on the go, or immediately putting it in a cloud storage locker, which users would pay around $25 a year for. From this locker, all music bought could be streamed to any web browser at no additional charge. And again, music could be downloaded to a mobile app for when you’re not going to be online.

How Did Lady Gaga Catch a Flight Nearly Naked?

Since when does Lady Gaga get to fly mostly naked on a public airline? Or did she have to cover up at the last minute after the paparazzi left?

The Gaga does not cover up for mere mortals, no matter who they be! The space villagers shall gaze upon The Gaga in her disco bolero, and her ironic Ringo shades, and her fishnets that she found on the bathroom floor at Jumbo's Clown Room! And the mortals shall thank the Lady for allowing them to do said gazing!

Yes, I have all the details on Gaga's flight, and there are definitely signs of special treatment:

But not at first.

Here's what we know: Gaga was flying from LAX to New York via American Airlines, of all things. She showed up at the departures terminal, just like everyone else, and then went through security. Insiders tell me they saw no signs of deference at that point—no separate line, no private room, nothing.

"She got in line with everyone else," a spy tells me.

At one point Gaga donned her golden bolero before boarding the American flight. But, my spy says, "at no time did we see anyone from the airline approaching her or asking her to do anything."

Lindsay Lohan Pulls Another All-Nighter at NYC Club

No cheers here: The day after Lindsay Lohan taped her pro-sobriety VMA guest spot with Chelsea Handler, the fresh-out-of-rehab star, 24, was back to her old habits, a source tells Us Weekly.

"It's the same old cycle of lying and denials," an insider says of the Machete star, who was spotted at NYC club Boom Boom Room until the wee hours of the night of September 11, just 18 days after she was released from her court-ordered postjail treatment at UCLA's Neurophysciatric hospital.

"She's telling everyone she didn't go out," says the insider. "We're like, 'Lindsay, people saw you there!'"

A witness at the hot spot notes, "It looked like she didn't want to be noticed."

Whether or not the four-time-rehabbed star is truly off the wagon, friends are concerned she's back in the club scene.

"Everything that she went through seems not to have changed her a bit," says the friend. "It's sad."

Why Do Europeans Still Use Nokia Phones?

With 260,000 phones being sold daily, someone out there is still buying Nokia phones. But who? And more importantly, why? Is it familiarity? Affordability? A belief that nothing else available is as good—or as suitable—for them?

I was elected to write this post because I live in the UK—the land-mass on the periphery of Nokia's dominance. Funny thing is, I don't think I personally know a single person who uses the Finnish company's phones. Sure, I know people who used to use them—and happily—but those years are long gone.

Especially in England, many of our first phones were Nokia. Mine, back in 2002, was an 8310. I adored it for its small size and legion of color options. My next phone was the Motorola RAZR; I remember fumbling with the new OS and button lay-out at first. Is it fear of the unfamiliar that's stopping this invisible hoard from trying new phones with different OSes? If so, why is it mostly Europeans and Asians who seem to have a problem adopting a new OS?

Nokia software engineer says 'hardware rules,' software follows

Care for a little more insight into Nokia's smartphone development habits? In an email to our pal John Gruber, a former Nokia software engineer has laid out his perspective on why the Finnish phone maker seems to be struggling in that lucrative high-end smartphone market:

"Here's the problem: Hardware Rules at Nokia. The software is written by the software groups inside of Nokia, and it is then given to the hardware group, which gets to decide what software goes on the device, and the environment in which it runs. All schedules are driven by the hardware timelines. It was not uncommon for us to give them code that ran perfectly by their own test, only to have them do things like reduce the available memory for the software to 25% the specified allocation, and then point the finger back at software when things failed in the field."

Google tweaks Google Health dashboards

Google reminded the world that it has a personal-health service Wednesday, announcing it has updated one of its lesser-used sites with a new look and feel.

Google Health is a service that allows users to upload personal health information to track their health status over time and find information on health issues, doctors, and other medical needs. Google has decided to make it easier for users to access their data through an improved dashboard that also lets users set personal health goals for themselves.

Sara Bareilles tops Billboard 200 albums chart

Sara Bareilles earns her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 albums chart with Kaleidoscope Heart. Her sophomore effort tops the chart with 90,000 copies sold. Eminem‘s Recovery lifts one rung to No. 2, selling 81,000 albums. The Now 35 compilation drops one to No. 3 and 63,000 units moved, while Katy Perry‘s Teenage Dream keeps its No. 4 spot with 59,000 copies sold.

It was a pretty quiet week on the chart. Who do you think is going to be the next artist to shake things up?

Palm webOS 2.0 preview video hits the wilds

irst things first -- before you jump on past the break and mash play, mute your speakers. Mute. As in, off. Alrighty, now that you're prepared, you've got two minutes and 14 seconds of teasing just a click away, as some sure-to-be-yelled-at developer has leaked a sneak peak into the wide, mysterious world of webOS 2.0. Not that we haven't seen a cornucopia of screenshots already, but at least this emulation vid gives you a better idea of how things will actually flow once it gets released to end users. Microsoft launches Internet Explorer 9 beta

Microsoft launched the beta of Internet Explorer 9 on Wednesday, promising to use the whole power of the PC to set Web sites free from the constraints previously imposed on them.

"The Web is about sites," Corporate Vice President Dean Hachamovitch said at an event here. "Browsers should be too. Today, Web sites are boxed in."

The new browser features a minimalistic user interface, hardware acceleration, and broader support for Web standards including HTML 5 and CSS 3.

For Microsoft, the arrival of IE9 is an attempt to compete more fully with Mozilla's Firefox, Google's Chrome, and other browsers. Although various flavors of Internet Explorer are still used for one in three Web site visits, Microsoft has been losing share for years as rivals have moved ahead technically.

No award for Jay Chou's Pandaman

He may be the King of Mandopop, but Jay Chou's no drama king.

His brainchild, drama Pandaman, was not nominated for any categories in the upcoming "Taiwan Golden Bell Awards".

Jay Chou reportedly invested a hefty sum of TWD 140mil (SGD 7mil) on the drama production - the highest in the history of Taiwanese television, to fulfil his and friends' childhood dreams of a sci-fi film.

According to reports, Pandaman's lead male star, Devon Song, was furious that the drama did not have a chance to compete for the awards, and felt indignant for all the hardworking cast and crew involved in the production.

"Jay Chou calls himself a 'money-tree', and he is not wrong. Everybody just wants to gain profits through him, and forgets that he has a hard time fulfilling everyone's wishes," said a fuming Devon.

Tiffany Hsu clarifies rumors of her being pregnant

Several days ago, the media reported Tiffany Hsu as being pregnant after she gained a little weight. She appeared at the Lexus IS F event looking fit as ever and clarified that she is definitely not pregnant.

In addition, Ethan Ruan was caught looking for a new home and rumors say that he is buying it for Tiffany and that they will be moving in together. However, Tiffany responded, “That’s not true. Buying a home or a car are both very expensive items. Unless we’re married, I would definitely not accept gifts such as these from my boyfriend.”

Although both Tiffany and Ethan expressed that they have no plans to get married yet, when asked what she would do if she catches her husband cheating, Tiffany answered timidly, “Wait until I’m married first! You need a lot of courage to get married. Marriage is a promise and a responsibility. A man needs to become dependable (after marriage)!”

iOS 4.2 beta hits Apple's developer portal, wireless printing dubbed 'AirPrint'

If you're an iOS developer (or good friends with one), today is going to be totally awesome. Apple has just let loose the official iOS 4.2 beta builds for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch -- meaning that someone somewhere is going to be experiencing multitasking on the 'pad (sans jailbreaking, of course). Additionally, Apple has decided to bestow a name upon its new printing experience (the direct-to-printer tech the company showed off at its fall event). And that name? AirPrint. In a piece of PR just issued by Apple, it's noted that owners of HP products with ePrint tech will be the first to take advantage of the new tool -- so that's something.

Of course, all that news should be lost in a cloud of excitement over 4.2. As usual, we're going to take the OS for a spin on our developer iPad here and see what's what, and then report back to you cats and kittens about whatever nuggets of joy we find. Stay tuned!

Ashton Kutcher Cheating? Is Kutcher Having An Affair With Brittney Jones, 21?

For the second time in the past three weeks, the controversial publication has blanketed newsstands across the nation with a report claiming the professional prankster and former star of That ’70s Show has been secretly bedding a 21-year-old bombshell…unbeknownst to his actress wife Demi Moore, 46.

Brittney Jones, 21, told the tabloid that she slept with the married actor during one night of fiery passion in July and felt like they had “incredible chemistry.” Brittney alleges that she met him at a bowling alley and slipped him her phone number on a cocktail napkin. According to the would-be-homewrecker, Ashton later called her and they hung out at his Los Angeles home while he said his wife Demi Moore was in Detroit filming the coming-of-age comedy L.O.L alongside Miley Cyrus. The pair were reportedly friendly for several months before their relationship turned intimate and Brittany thought she was well on her way to a future of bliss with Kutcher.

Lady Gaga to Guest Star on CSI: Miami?

How would a meat dress hold up in South Beach?

Perhaps we'll find out if Lady Gaga ever makes it over to CSI: Miami...

"The rumor's been that Lady Gaga wants to do the show really bad," CSI star Eva La Rue told us at the recent Stand Up to Cancer telethon. "I don't know if we're going to get her or not, but it would be awesome!"

Don't count on the singer breaking out into song while guest starring though.

"She doesn't want to play herself from what I understand," La Rue said. "She wants to be a character."

Fellow CSI: Miami star Emily Procter also recently admitted to us that although the show aired a Jersey Shore-themed episode back in April, she's still hoping for the real-life Situation to make an appearance.

"He's so sweet and thoughtful and really works hard to do the right thing," Procter said. "It makes me happy for him."

Guess he's got her vote on Dancing With the Stars.

Should Gaga do CSI? How about The Situation? Sound off in the comments.

Some Xbox 360s Won't Do Halo: Reach Online Co-Op

While the $199 price tag on Microsoft's 4GB Xbox 360 slim model might seem attractive, Halo: Reach owners eager for a little online co-operative multiplayer campaign play are finding out the hard way that you get what you pay for.

Kotakuite Captain Fuzzy brought the issue to our attention yesterday. After picking up his copy of Halo: Reach, he decided to spend a little time online going through the campaign with friends, only to find that his 4GB console wasn't capable of doing so.

"When I tried to join them, we got a message saying "One or more players do not have a hard drive which is required for this playlist". Apparently, the 4gb Xbox 360 slim will not allow online co-op because it has a "Memory Unit" and not an HDD. Adding my 16gb flash drives didn't help the case either, I still got the "hard drive is required" message. I can still play online Vs. games, but any co-op like campaign or firefight are locked out to me."'

Will Microsoft And Nokia Team Up To Take On Apple, Google?

Against a backdrop of Nokia-blue screens, the company’s head of markets Niklas Savander tried to command the stage on Tuesday morning at London’s ExCel center. He was no Steve Jobs, opting for a conservative khaki suit and bungling a few words, but at the end of his opening address, he tried to deliver his last line with gusto: “Today is all about here and now, it’s about three words: Nokia is back.” Although seemingly sincere, these are strange words for a company that seems anything but “back.”

“In turmoil” is a more fitting description.

“The question analysts are asking is: ‘Where does Nokia sit in the four stages of bereavement?’ Is it denial?” asks Benedict Evans, a consultant for Enders Analysis in London. “Or have they finally come to realize that Apple’s product is indeed better.”

In rapid succession, the company has ousted its CEO, 30-year Nokia veteran Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, appointed a new CEO, Stephen Elop, a Microsoft executive from the enterprise software side, and seen the departure of Anssi Vanjoki, head of mobile solutions and one-time CEO candidate. And there’s no sign that the reorganization is over. Early Tuesday, the company’s chairman, Jorma Ollila confirmed his 2012 resignation.

LeAnn Rimes: Why I Cheated on My Husband

In the October issue of Shape, LeAnn Rimes explains why she cheated on husband of six years, Dean Sheremet.

"My relationship with Dean was great, but ultimately it wasn't a fulfilling marriage for either of us," says the singer, 28. "We got married so young: I was 19 and he was 21, so as we got older, we grew apart."

Us Weekly first broke the news that she had an on-set fling with actor Eddie Cibrian while shooting a Lifetime movie in late 2008.

Rimes -- who now lives with Cibrian, 37, and his two sons, Mason, 7, and Jake, 3 -- isn't proud of her behavior.

"I understand why people are disappointed in me, especially since I grew up as America's sweetheart," she says.

She later adds, "I think any relationship is hard to get out of, and I don't think the way I did it was right."

The controversial star says after her fans learned of her affair she got "so depressed."

Recalls Rimes, "I didn't want to get out of bed."

Looking back, she says, "I truly believe there are lessons in it for me to learn. Cultivating strength from rough situations is the most important thing. After going through this, I know I can face anything."

San Jose Mercury News: Apple to launch newspaper subscriptions
