So, we just spoke with Apple and got the straight dirt on the reception issues that have been plaguing users today... and it's a little surprising. In essence, Apple cops to the fact there are reception issues with the new iPhone -- namely, that if you cover the bottom-left corner of the phone and bridge the gap between the notch there with your naked flesh, you could see some signal degradation. Yes, you read that right: it's not a software or production issue, simply a matter of the physical location of your hand in regards to the phone's antenna. The company's suggested fix? Move your hand position, or get a case which covers that part of the phone, thus breaking contact. As you can see in the email above which just arrived in our tip box, this is a sentiment which runs pretty high at the company. Here's the official statement:
Gripping any mobile phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas. This is a fact of life for every wireless phone. If you ever experience this on your iPhone 4, avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases.

When boy band Fahrenheit’s Wu Chun was cast as the lead actor for the upcoming Taiwanese drama “Sunshine Angel 陽光天使” alongside Taiwanese pop princess Rainie Yang, many thought that the shy, reserved, and cool-natured Wu Chun would make an incompatible coupling with the passionately zany and attention-loving Rainie. Yet once the two famous Taiwanese entertainers embarked to Shanghai for the filming of their new idol drama, their acting took on an authentic air of sweetheart romance during shooting, and their professional relationship off camera has been remarkably warm. The duo has often been seen chatting and laughing together on the set, and not only have they been eating together frequently, but they also have flirtatious arguments and give off an affectionate vibe

Thank goodness Miley Cyrus isn't on Twitter anymore. If she was, she'd probably be hearing from a lot angry of Twilight fans, just like Emma Roberts did when she announced she was Team Jacob.
What's up with Miley? Read on to find out what she recently told us...
Cyrus makes no bones about it. "I hate vampires," she says.
So no Edward and Bella for her. But what about the more risqué, not-very-tame True Blood?
Probably not gonna happen, either.
"What channel is that on?" she asks when we urge her to check out the hit bloodsucking HBO show.
"We don't have HBO," she said, adding that her mom only gets "about 10 channels" at their house. "So we don't watch a lot of TV. We don't know what's on. All we have is like the Disney Channel and Nick at Nite because my sister is only 10 years old."

When Edison Chen was buffeted by the stormy winds of his sex photo scandal in February two years ago, his then girlfriend Vincy Yang stayed faithfully by his side. But yesterday, there were rumours that he and Vincy had encountered a rough patch in their relationship, and that Edison was now dating a hot, 18 year old Hong Kong model named Fiona Tang Bo Yan. Fiona was even photographed attending his company's party... to which Edison responded by denying that he even knew her.
According to Taiwan's Appledaily newspaper, after lying low for a year following his scandal, one of his first interviews upon reappearing was to thank his girlfriend Vincy, saying "She helped me understand the true meaning of love, this kind of love is very powerful, and now I'm like a new man."

Windows Phone 7

"I'm gonna ask rock star Kostas... to come on. And Kostas has brought with him Windows Phone 7, which we launch this October." So sayeth Microsoft VP for Marketing Mich Mathews in introducing GM of Live Labs' Kostas Mallios, who was at the Cannes Lions advertising conference to show off the advertising capabilities of the upcoming smartphone platform. Of course, last we heard, the official company line on WP7's release was "holiday 2010," so this would definitely narrow the launch window quite a bit, as well as corroborates earlier Telstra roadmap leaks. Not an official statement, but Mathews would definitely be someone in the know here. Don't expect the folks in Redmond to go ahead and confirm -- they work on their own schedule, thank you very much -- but should someone 'fess up, can we also talk about that $150 Kinect price? Video after the break.

There's been plenty of hubbub about whether 17-year-old Miley Cyrus is going overboard on the sexuality in the lead-up to her new album, 'Can't Be Tamed,' but the singer says it's all about freedom and empowerment.
"My daughter introduced me to your music a few years ago," Sway Calloway tells Cyrus in an MTV News interview. "What I liked about it was you had a lot of empowerment themes."
Miley's response? "It's just about freeing yourself from anything you think is holding you back. And I think that's really important, especially for girls, because so many people are told, 'No, you can't do something,' or, 'You need to be this because mom and dad say that, teachers say this.'"

If the title of this post isn't enough to entice you, we don't know what else to say. We've gone and run some sunlit comparisons between Apple's brand spanking new phone's Retina Display and Samsung's equally fresh and exclusive Super AMOLED panel on the Galaxy S. We don't know if we'll be able to settle the argument, but we're certainly going to subject both superphones to an expansive visual inspection. Follow us after the break for video exploration of this most pressing topic.
iPhone 4, Droid Incredible, Evo 4G, and Nexus One hardware all cost about the same. But this chart shows exactly how much each will put you out of pocket—data/voice included—over the course of a two year contract.
The iPhone 4 fares well here, particularly in the Minimum Plan Total Cost category, but it's important to remember that AT&T is the only carrier currently offering tiered data. So that $2,000 is maxing you out at 200MB per month—not exactly a fair comparison to the unlimited plans found elsewhere. Even the "unlimited" plan caps you at 2GB, which is probably enough. But if it's not, you'll have to shell out $10 per 1GB per month extra.

Much fuss has been made about the iPhone 4’s reception woes, but the evidence continues to mount that suggests the problem is purely the result of a bug in the current build of iOS 4. As proof, a YouTube user has posted a video of his iPhone 3G, held in a similar fashion as the iPhone 4s in the YouTube videos we showed you yesterday, losing signal strength as soon as it is clutched. As this did not happen with iOS 3.0, this suggests a software bug which affects the signal meter the user sees. Even more interesting is the fact that despite displaying a weak signal — and in some cases no signal at all — many users report that the iPhone 4 is still able to make calls as if nothing were wrong. Hit the jump to check out the video then give us your thoughts!

Nokia has officially confirmed that it is, indeed, switching its high-end Nseries devices to the MeeGo operating system once the Nokia N8 is out of the way. Reported yesterday by way of an aside from a Nokia Australia rep – and prompting doubt from many Nokia watchers – spokesperson Doug Dawson from the Finnish company told Reuters today that “Going forward, N-series devices will be based on MeeGo.”
MeeGo is a collaborative effort between Nokia and Intel, combining the former’s Maemo work – as most recently released on the N900 – and the latter’s Moblin project. It will presumably first debut on the Nokia N9, tipped to be a companion device for the N8, adding in a hardware QWERTY keyboard among other things.
