Not afraid of hanging by wires, scared of getting close to her Idol; DaS freezes as she kissed Andy Lau

DaS praises Andy saying he is as hardworking and serious as rumored, making her forget the hardship of being hung by wires

Barbie Xu (DaS) successfully entered the Big Screen arena, she had the chance to work with her Idole Andy Lau in movie "Future X cops", and was lucky enough to have a kissing scene with him in their first cooperation together. That made her excited for months, and when the day of filming finally arrived, Das was so nervous her whole body froze... About being one of the highest earners in 2009, she humbly said it was all due to good llcuk, as she is only a newcommer in the Movie fields, and she still has to pay for the dressing fees.

Taiwanese star Barbie Xu had been busy filming movie after movie, becoming one of the most demanded actresses, people said her incomes from movies were about 8 Millions in 2009, being such a high earner, she replied : "My incomes did raise but it was all due to luck, and most of my incomes come from enndorsing and adverts, I'm still new to the Movie industry, I'm not earning money from that yet, and even had lost some money, as you need to promote a lot for the movies and all the acting fees are gone into buying dresses, so I hope this year I'll really earn money."

Autumn’s Concerto and Down With Love go head to head

Jerry Yan’s new drama is set to make its entry in the highly competitive Sunday night idol drama battle. Down With Love will be going up against Autumn’s Concerto, which has been in the number one spot for 17 weeks in a row, as well as a 45 minutes finale of Hi! My Sweetheart. A behind the scenes special of Down With Love was aired last week after an approval delay. Compared to the rating of 7.64% for Autumn’s Concerto and 5.14% for Hi! My Sweetheart, the special brought in a decent rating of 0.98% considering the Momo Love finale was only at 0.69%. All eyes will be on Jerry Yan and Van Ness Wu as the former F4’s battle for the top spot in the ratings. Coincidentally, both stars will be going to Japan for promotions after the Chinese New Year.

Sunye’s earlier return was to meet new member Haelim

The American-based WonderGirls have secretly returned to South Korea. The short homecoming is facilitate China promotions during early February. But because of the related problem of SunMi’s departure, whether the fans can meet with WonderGirls has become a focus of attention.

WonderGirls‘ return is receiving media interest because this China activity is the beginning of newest member HaeLim taking over from SunMi. To this end, group leader SunYe was the first to return home this January 25, in order to meet with HaeLim. 3 other members YeEun, Yoobin & Sohee followed her back on January 27. Excluded from the China activity is SunMi, who remained behind in New York for the purpose of WonderGirls’ [additional] American activities through end-February.

Brangelina Totally Together at DGAs!

This should shut up all those breakup rumors. At least for one news cycle.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie surfaced in public for the first time in more than a month, happily dining together at the Directors Guild of America Awards Saturday in L.A.

Pitt had been scheduled to present at the DGAs (his Inglourious Basterds helmer Quentin Tarantino is among the contenders), but Jolie's appearance was completely unexpected. The smiling, cuddling couple shared a table with Tarantino.

Brangelina hadn't been photographed together since a December outing in New York; for more than a week, tabloids have been doing the vulture-circling routine.

Earlier Saturday, Jon Voight, again refuted splitsville reports. "Anyone can say anything these days," he told E! News, saying that he just spent time with his daughter and grandchildren.

Asked how Jolie copes with it, he added, "She doesn't pay attention to it. She has enough to worry about—she has six kids!"

Lindsay Lohan Topless Scene In ‘Machete’

Ah Lindsay Lohan, how far you’ve fallen. Not that long ago a topless Lohan scene would have caused the internet to slow to a crawl, but today news that Lohan would be naked in the upcoming movie ‘Machete’ (which, as an aside, looks pretty amazing) has created barely any buzz at all from what I can see.

Not only was Lindsay Lohan one of the hottest things around circa 2004 or so, but she actually was kind of likeable. She was sort of adorable in Mean Girls, but of course we’ve since learned that was mainly due to the incredible skill of Tina Fey, and Lohan has since proven herself to be about as charismatic and likeable as a doorknob. ‘Machete’ is her first movie role in four years, she’s not a lead, and she clearly got hired mainly to create some buzz around a gratuitous nude scene. Someday they’ll make sad movies and Lindsay Lohan and Elton John might write a song about her, but right now the entire situation is just depressing.

Activist Group Not Gaga Over Lady's Guns

Lady Gaga's wild ways have earned her an enemy.

After using prop pistols during her live stage shows, and waving around faux firearms with Beyoncé in the video for their hit single, "Video Phone," gun safety group the Brady Campaign is taking on the popstar.

"The music was fine, but I wonder why they went out of their way to glorify guns in their production," campaign president, Paul Helmke wrote on their website. "Beyond the sexual stereotype of guns in general, it's hard to understand why they are in the video at all."

Why Bigger Is Better: The iPad And The Arc of Computing

Earlier last week, as the day was coming to an end and I was speaking with my 5 year old at bedtime we shared the highlights of our day. I started by telling him the company that created the iPhone is about to come out with . . . I paused—how do I describe it?—well, a “big iPhone” I said. About this big, I gestured holding my hands about 10 inches apart. “Wow, Amazing!” was his instant reaction as his eyes lit up. Even my 5-year-old knows that bigger is better, especially when it comes to tactile interfaces. In fact, the advantages are probably more obvious to his generation than it is to ours.

For this first generation born into a world of the iPhone, Wii and soon the Xbox’s Project Natal, the distance between the metaphor created by these devices and the reality of their interaction is constantly shrinking. My wife is currently doing her PhD research on the merits of tangible interfaces for young children in education and the data is telling. There is no doubt that there is great potential to enhance learning with tactile computing. Through that lens the “Bigger iPhone” is akin to a bigger yard to play in or a bigger room. This insight is telling. For these kids the iPhone’s primary function is by no means a phone. It is first and formost a gaming device, followed by a networked camera, followed by everything else. Through this lens one can see the importance of the iPad in the historical trajectory of our human-computer interaction. What’s lost in all the complaints about what the iPad is lacking (multitasking, camera, etc.) is that people need to view the iPad on more than its merits as a first-generation product. Rather, they need to understand it in context of the evolutionary arc of computing.

Nokia, Nintendo, Netflix and E-Ink respond to the iPad

We're sure just about every company on the map has an opinion on Apple's new device, but a few big wigs have taken time out of their busy schedules to weigh in on the device. These are their stories.

  • Nokia's Mark Squires, Head of Social Media, was mainly confused by Apple's statement that it's the biggest mobile device manufacturer, surpassing Nokia in combined revenue on media players, phones and laptops. Mark argues that the accepted definition for "mobile devices" excludes laptops, and goes on to mention the undisputed fact that Nokia's still number one when it comes to number of devices sold.

Amanda Seyfried Wants $7.5 Million For “Mamma Mia!” Sequel

Money Mia! Amanda Seyfried is demanding a whopping $7.5 million to reprise her role in next year’s follow-up to Mamma Mia! — the most successful movie musical in box office history. Although Universal Studios insists there are no immediate plans to produce Mamma Mia! 2, Star Magazine cites sources which claim discussions are underway for a sequel to the smash hit that starred Seyfried as a blushing bride and Meryl Streep as the mother who wasn’t quite sure which of three fathered the young woman.

Sounds more like an episode of Maury than a film set to the soundtrack of ABBA.

Rihanna: ‘My New Album is a Classic’

RIHANNA thinks her latest album Rated R is a “classic”.

The Russian Roulette singer insists the LP — the follow-up to 2007’s Good Girl Gone Bad — is edgier and is more personal than her other releases.

“We made a great album, which was my intention in the first place. That makes this a classic album for me,” she said.

“It’s very edgy. Good Girl Gone Bad was all about me at that point of my life. It had attitude and an edge and this next album takes it up a notch.

“I want to evolve and keep changing and I want my music to reflect that.”

With her new musical direction the 21-year-old star has evolved her style, although Rihanna is adamant it was not a conscious decision to make herself sexier.

The pop beauty — who has previously admitted many of the things on the album were inspired by her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown — said, “A lot of people say to me, ‘You got sexier. Your image has changed.’ But that really isn’t it. I’m just dressing how I feel. I’m more comfortable in my skin. I basically dress to my mood.

Switched On: Tabula rasa

When Apple introduced the iPod in 2001 -- some 250 million units ago, as Steve Jobs noted -- it began with a laser-like focus on digital music. Swap out a hard drive and FireWire port for a cassette collection, and the product was clearly the reinvention of the Walkman. The first Switched On in 2004 pondered the iPod photo as a stepping stone to video. And by 2007, the iPhone and iPod touch had become capable of playing a broad array of content and would soon be able to extend their capabilities dramatically via apps.

Nonetheless, while the iPhone and iPod touch were nearly as close cousins as the 3G and non-3G flavors of the iPad, they were each rooted firmly in the existing categories of smartphones and MP3 players and positioned against products in that space. Despite its limited app support, nobody thinks of the Zune HD as a handheld tablet; it's a digital media player that competes against the iPod touch.

Natalie Portman and her reluctant Millepied leg it to Britain

Actress Natalie Portman is to move to Britain with her ballet dancer boyfriend - whether he likes it or not.

Notoriously private Natalie caused a stir in the States after it was revealed that Frenchman Benjamin Millepied, 32, had a live-in girlfriend of three years when he and Natalie, 28, met recently on the set of the film Black Swan.

Sources say she has insisted they escape the US paparazzi by moving their fledgling romance to the UK as her next film project, Pride And Prejudice And Zombies, gets under way.

‘Natalie hopes to get some privacy in England,’ says a source.

‘She is adamant Benjamin should spend some time with her.’

Charlize Theron 'rings off' after secret split with Stuart Townsend

For a lad from the outskirts of Dublin, Stuart Townsend seemed to have it all - a long-term relationship with one of the most stunning women in Hollywood, whose box-office clout brought in the millions.

But now his nine-year romance with Oscar winner Charlize Theron, previously considered one of the most stable unions in showbusiness, has come to an end.

The stunning 5ft 11in South African has told close friends that she decided to split from the Irish actor following a Christmas trip to Mexico and has since stopped wearing the antique ‘commitment ring’ that Townsend gave her as a symbol of their relationship.

Jennifer Aniston and Jake Gyllenhaal — Future Couple Alert???!!!

IF it all goes to pot with Gerard Butler, Jennifer Aniston has an even sexier fall back guy — Jake Gyllenhaal, insiders say.

The Brokeback Mountain star — who recently split from girlfriend Reese Witherspoon — apparently has his eye on Hollywood’s most famous singleton.

“Jake’s had his eye on her for a long while, but the timing’s never been right,” a source close to the actor told American tabloid the National Enquirer.

“The chemistry’s been there for years but, in the past, either one or the other has been in a relationship.

“They really have so much in common. He’s aware of Jen’s reputation for being unlucky at love, but he feels he has a lot to bring into her life. More importantly, he is sure they could make each other happy.

“Jake even describes her as being hot, intelligent and spiritual — the perfect package!”

And sources close to Aniston — who has previously dated singer John Mayer, 32 — insists the star wouldn’t be fazed about dating Jake, who at 29, is 11 years her junior.

“Jake’s obviously a good looking guy and she couldn’t care less if she’s viewed as a cougar for going out with him,” said the Aniston source.

'Avatar' takes Friday boxoffice

James Cameron's "Avatar" fetched an estimated $7.5 million in U.S. and Canadian boxoffice on Friday to push its domestic cume to $572 million.

"Titanic" registered $600.8 million domestically in its record 1997-1998 theatrical run. "Avatar" should fly past that mark sometime next week after previously surpassing international and worldwide records that had been held by "Titanic."

Elsewhere on Friday, Warner Bros.' Mel Gibson starrer "Edge of Darkness" bowed in second place with $5.7 million in its first day of domestic release. Disney's romantic comedy "When in Rome," starring Kristen Bell and Josh Duhamel, debuted third among the daily grossers with $4.4 million.

Apple excises the false Flash in its iPad promo video

It's not every day we get a nice, humble confession of fault from Apple, but it looks like the marketing department has seen the light on those overly optimistic web browsing mockups depicting Flash in "action" on the new Flash-free tablet device. Now the iPad promo video has been reworked to flaunt what we're coming to know as the Blue Lego Block of Ambiguity™ in sections of sites that would traditionally be populated by highly stimulating Adobe Flash-based content. It's not pretty, and it solves none of the other issues at hand with Apple's continued avoidance of Flash on its iPhone OS, but at least it's true.

Think Apple has all price points covered?

We’d say so! From $59 to $7,000, if you want an Apple product, there’s a pretty darn good chance you’ll be able to pick something in your price range. Simply brilliant. Full size image link after the break…

Multi-Recipient SMS Comes to Google Voice

We haven't seen any official announcement, but a few eagle-eyed readers pointed out that the Google Voice web interface now allows users to send text messages to multiple recipients.

To send multi-recipient SMS, just click the SMS button, start typing in recipients in the Gmail-style auto-complete box, and send away. Nothing much to it beyond that, but it's a great—and much-requested—feature addition.

Ending of "Hi My Sweetheart", Xiao Zhu fulfills marrying Rainie Yang.

Producer Angie Cai produced over 20 idol dramas, this is the first time that she had a wedding as the finale wrap up. Tomorrow on CTS "Hi My Sweetheart" will air a 45 minute version having Xiao Zhu fulfilling wishes of marrying Rainie. In order to calm the prior complaints about shortening of the drama, the vice president of CTS yesterday not only gave out monetary prize to Angie for 10,000,000 view counts, but also gave out 2 gold medals with a total worth of $32,000TWD to Xiao Zhu and Rainie, which was described as "Treasure of the town of Taiwan".

Xiao Zhu and Rainie however did not show up yesterday, CTS expressed there wasn't enough time to inform them. Xiao Zhu had previously publicly exclaimed, "It could of definitely aired to February, but it ended early!" Angie Cai had just returned to Taiwan from Seoul, in regards to "HMS" clearly having good ratings but still had to finish airing prior to schedule, having many years of friendship with CTS, she reluctantly accepted but said, "I treasure more about how the artists feel."

Is this a box-office record with an * ?

Higher movie ticket prices are skewing box-office records. 'Avatar,' poised to become the all-time money leader, has nothing on 'Gone With the Wind' when it comes to viewers.

When is a box-office record really a record?

That's a question worth pondering as "Avatar" becomes the No. 1 all-time box-office movie -- and a question that's likely to come up more frequently in the future. And I think it suggests that maybe it's time to change the way the industry ranks movies in box-office charts.

As our box-office experts in Company Town have noted, "Avatar," like so many modern-day movies, has benefited from the steep rise in ticket prices, especially in the new 3-D era. So should "Avatar's" box-office numbers -- as of Thursday its gross is $1.917 billion worldwide and $564 million domestic -- carry an asterisk?

Miranda Kerr poses with just a newspaper to protect her modesty

As one of the world's supermodels, Miranda Kerr often finds herself plastered across the tabloids.
So perhaps it is fitting that she should choose to use a newspaper to protect her modesty.

The Victoria's Secret model posed in a denim jacket, holding a carefully positioned paper, for GQ magazine.

The 26-year-old, who is pictured in a pair of pants in one shot and a black thong and matching bra in the other, told the U.S. edition of GQ magazine that her high-flying life means she only gets to spend around one day a week at home.

Apple's iPad: What's it really for?

It's a way to showcase multi-touch tech, open new doors for Apple

If there's one thing Apple is good at, it's keeping the rest of world guessing about new products while generating more buzz than the New Orleans Saints making it to the Super Bowl for the first time. Even though the world knew Apple CEO Steve Jobs would unveil a tablet on Wednesday, the announcement created enough of a stir to take down Twitter briefly and slow Web traffic on a lot of sites.

Post-buzz, reaction to the iPad seems to be mixed. I don't think you can really dispute the cool factor. After seeing even a handful of videos or screenshots showing the new device, most anyone would recognize that Apple is once again reframing how we handle all the data and media that now make up our digital lives.

Ella Wrongly Maligned, Producer Clarifies and Apologises to say Sorry

Ella was rumoured to be "difficult to work with" while filming [Down With Love] by CTV and GTV. With the continuous negative news, she was affected by the accusations and hence cancelled the subsequent publicity activities, and the relationship with the production team appeared awkward. Producer Ke Yi Qin was said to have been the one who made the claims, and when approached, she sighed in regrets and expressed her sadness. She clarified that while filming in Hangzhou, Ella did not have any disagreement with the director. Everyone has misunderstood her words and she is most willing to apologise for the miscommunication that has caused Ella to be sad.

Ke Yi Qin also added, Ella is a very sincere and forthright person. She is like family to all members of the crew, enjoying a great relationship with everyone on the set during filming. There was a male crew member who passed away during the filming period due to acute liver failure. On the day of the post-filming celebrations, Ella was even the one who took initiative to get everyone to propose a toast in memory of this late member of the production team family. She would also go to the KTV with members of the production team, and everyone feels touched by her sincerity.

The iPad And Chrome OS Netbooks Are On A Collision Course

“We don’t know how to build a $500 computer that’s not a piece of junk.”

“Netbooks aren’t better at anything.”

Those two quotes are both from Apple CEO Steve Jobs. The first was during an earnings call in late 2008 when Jobs fielded a question about why Apple wasn’t cutting prices amid the rising success of netbooks. The second came on Wednesday as Jobs was unveiling the iPad.

Apple has made it clear all along that they had no plans to build a netbook. And true to their word, they haven’t. But that doesn’t mean that Apple didn’t feel there was a need for a device that resided in between a full laptop and a mobile phone — in fact, that’s squarely where Apple is positioning the iPad. With it, they feel that they’ve created a $500 (for the baseline version) device that is superior to every netbook out there.

Meanwhile, Google has decided to target the market in between the laptop and the mobile phone as well. But whereas Apple is anti-netbook, Google is very pro-netbook — they just want to make them better. That’s the reason behind Google’s Chrome OS, as Google clearly laid out during its unveiling event late last year.

Cast of Jersey Shore Returns for Season 2

Pump your fists, Jersey Shore fans!

MTV has announced that its hit reality show, Jersey Shore, will return with the original cast for a second season this summer.

Pauly Delvecchio, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Jenni “J-WOWW” Farley, Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola, Ronnie Margo and Vinny Guadagnino will all “escape the cold Northeast and find themselves in a new destination” for season 2, MTV said in a statement.

“Our audience has fallen in love with Jersey Shore and its amazing cast who have really grown together as a family. That bond gives the show its heart, and we’re thrilled to reunite these friends to bring fans more of what they love — laughs, love, drama and of course, GTL,” MTV’s President of Programming Tony DiSanto said.

If you can’t wait until summer to see Snooki dance or The Situation work the duck phone, MTV will broadcast the Jersey Bowl Feb. 7 (9 a.m. EST), a marathon of season 1, leading up to the Super Bowl.

Mel Gibson Takes on Obama in a War of the Words

Whether it's throwing game at his arresting officer or speaking out publicly against feminism, Mel Gibson is not a man to mince words. This time, the actor is voicing his opinion on President Barack Obama, saying that the politician is not capable of providing America the type of assistance the country needs.

At the premiere of his latest film, 'Edge of Darkness' on Tuesday, the actor gave his two cents to a Pop Tarts reporter, saying, "[Obama] is a man with an impossible task on his hands... He got left a mess and I wish him all the best but I don't think he's going to fix it in five minutes and probably not in his entire tenure."

This is not the first time the Australian-born actor has spoken out against U.S. politicians. In a 2006 interview with Time Magazine, Gibson accused then-president George W. Bush of "fear mongering," comparing Bush and his political allies to corrupt leaders of the ancient Maya.

How Regular Movies Are Converted To 3D

Now that Avatar is officially the highest grossing movie of all time, it's inevitable that studios will continue to push 3D as the new frontier of cinema. But actually filming in 3D is prohibitively expensive. Here's how they fake it.

Not many directors share James Cameron's obsession with three dimensional authenticity, and not many films have the budgets to support the directors who do. Filming in 3D involves requires the use of two cameras, barely offset, capturing all the action in tandem. The technology involved, and the people who know how to use it, come with a high price tag. So most of the 3D movies that will be coming out of Hollywood in coming months, including the two new Harry Potter films as well as Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, create the effect in post-production.

iPad UI gets ported to the iPhone and iPod touch

At this particular point, 50-something days away from the earliest iPad deliveries, we doubt too many people are up in arms about the iPad's ability to act as a jumbo iPhone. On the other hand, if we told you you can take pretty much the entire iPad experience and distill it down to your iPhone OS device, well you'd probably care a lot more, wouldn't you? To get that extra 3D flavor to your UI, including the fetching iBooks shelf and other iPad-specific touches, you'll need a jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch, access to the Cydia app store, and the manpower to click past the break for the full instructional video. Come on, you know you want to.

HTC Trophy gets clearly pictured: QWERTY/touchscreen WinMo candybar

HTC’s 2010 smartphone roadmap may have skewed heavily toward Android, but that wasn’t to say the company were planning to abandon Windows Mobile altogether. The first clear render of the HTC Trophy – a Windows Mobile 6.5 candybar with a 3-inch VGA capacitive touchscreen and a full QWERTY keyboard – has leaked, and despite the OS it looks to have potential.

Update: Too good to be true; this isn’t HTC’s work but that of ElCondor from xda-developers; somewhere along the line his watermark has been edited out. He’s done a great job, too: compare it to the fuzzy image in the leaked roadmap. If the Trophy looks this good in real life, we’ll take one! [Thanks Sohaib!]
