Lindsay Lohan Surrenders to Begin Jail Sentence

Lindsay Lohan surrendered to officials at a Beverly Hills courthouse on Tuesday to begin serving her 90-day jail sentence. The 'Mean Girls' star arrived about 10 minutes late and was accompanied by attorney Shawn Chapman Holley and her mother, Dina Lohan.

Shortly after the hearing began, Judge Marsha Revel announced she was decreasing the 24-year-old's lag time between jail and her rehab stint from 48 to 24 hours. The actress looked poised and calm as Revel spoke.

Cameras in the courtroom were ordered shut off by the judge per an earlier agreement, meaning viewers were not able to witness the star's last moments of freedom and the moment she was handcuffed. Lohan was then taken by car to the Lynwood Correctional Facility.

Lohan was sentenced July 6 to 90 days in jail and a 90-day inpatient rehabilitation program for violating probation on an old DUI case. The actress will likely serve approximately 23 days behind bars because, according to Los Angeles Sheriff's Department spokesperson Steve Whitmore, female inmates in custody for nonviolent crimes generally serve about 25 percent of their sentence.

Her stay will be considerably longer that the 84 minutes she spent at a suburban Los Angeles jail in 2006 for an unrelated conviction.

Lohan broke down in tears as Judge Marsha Revel revealed her decision. Two days later, Lohan's lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley announced she was leaving the star's legal team and was later replaced briefly by Robert Shapiro. He tendered his resignation on Monday and Holley took up the case again.

Xbox 360 4GB confirmed; Kinect priced at $149.99

Leaked last week, Microsoft has just officially confirmed the upcoming Xbox 360 4GB, the replacement to the 360 Arcade. Priced at $199.99 and set to begin shipping on August 3rd 2010 in the US, the new Xbox 360 4GB will also be offered as a bundle with the Kinect sensor for $299.99 this holiday season.

The Kinect sensor itself, meanwhile, will be $149.99 when that launches during the holidays, and of course it will work with both the refreshed Xbox 360 and the previous-gen model. There will be more than 15 games available at Kinect’s launch, including “Kinectimals,” “Kinect Sports,” “Kinect Joy Ride” and “Dance Central”, retailing for $49.99.

Lindsay Lohan Handcuffed and Headed for Jail

Lindsay Lohan surrendered to the court Tuesday to begin her 90-day jail sentence for violating probation in a DUI case.

The actress, 24, arrived at the Beverly Hills courthouse in a motorcade to a crush of photographers and reporters. Somebody threw confetti toward her as she walked up the steps. One fan held a sign reading, "Free Lindsay."

During a brief hearing, Judge Marsha Revel said, "At this time, she will be remanded to serve her sentence." Lohan stood, looking stern, and was cuffed behind her back. She was escorted quietly out a side door by four sheriff's deputies.

Lohan is expected to be booked into the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif., where she previously served 84 minutes in 2007.

Despite the three-month sentence, legal experts say Lohan will probably serve between two weeks to a month due to the Sheriff's Department's long-standing policy of releasing nonviolent offenders early due to overcrowding.

L.A. Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore has said Lohan would likely be segregated from the general population "for her protection as well as the jail staff." Most inmates' daily routine at the jail includes a 5 a.m. wake-up call and being kept in a 12-by-8 cell for 22 hours a day, except for one hour of recreation time and 20 minutes per meal.

Britney Spears celebrates with a shopping spree after Forbes names her world’s fifth top-earning musician

Forbes Top-Earning Musicians list of 2010 has just named Britney Spears as the fifth highest earner over the past 12 months, raking in £41.8m.

So it’s no surprise that the wealthy pop star, 28, decided to go on a shopping spree in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles.

The troubled singer looked fresh faced in a white linen dress but couldn’t decide whether to wear her wedge heels or flip flops, so changed throughout the day out.

Spears, who was accompanied by her bodyguards, not only changed her footwear but also emerged from one shop wearing a new summer handbag, earrings and a large ring on her index finger.

But despite her high earnings, the star is still under conservatorship by her father, meaning she doesn’t have complete control of her finances yet.

The Toxic singer appeared to be in a much healthier state than we’ve seen her in the past though and was even clenching onto a bottle of water, in an attempt to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Mel Gibson Accused of Hitting Daughter in New Tape

In what is becoming an almost daily occurrence, another toxic audio tape featuring a mad Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva has been released by RadarOnline.com, and this time, she accuses the actor of hitting their baby daughter.

The shocking claim emerges during one of the former couple's explosive arguments that were recorded by Grigorieva and mysteriously leaked. "You hit me, and you hit her (Lucia) while she was in my hands!" she accuses in the tape. "Mel, you're losing your mind. You need medication."

Gibson, shocked by the child abuse claim, later tells her: "I want my child, and no one will believe you."

The 'Braveheart' star unleashes his now-familiar roster of profanities at nearly every turn, including when the two were arguing about custody of eight-month old daughter, Lucia.

"You have my child and she doesn't need a gold digging, f***ing Russian c**t, wh*re for a mother! We all know what you are! I will have that child, easily."

She replies, "I'm sorry? You will not have this child," to which he boasts "They won't let you keep her because they'll know what you are!"

Dell Streak review redux: thoughts from the New World

If you've been following the ongoing saga of Dell's Streak, you've probably already read our review of O2 UK's version -- thing is, the British perspective can be very different from the Yankee one (we didn't see eye-to-eye during the War of 1812, for instance). To that end, we wanted to circle back now that the gargantuan Android beast is finally coming close to a US release and get another quick take.

As a refresher, this thing matches or exceeds the specs you'd expect to find on any modern high-end smartphone in most respects, starting with a 1GHz Snapdragon core, a 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash, 850 / 1900MHz 3G for use on AT&T, Rogers, Bell, and Telus, and 2GB of internal storage coupled with a bundled and pre-installed 16GB microSDHC card. Where the Streak sets itself far, far apart from the crowd, though, is with an absolutely enormous 5-inch capacitive touchscreen at 800 x 480 resolution. Needless to say, it's a polarizing feature -- and for many, it'll singlehandedly determine whether the phone is a buy or a no-buy.

Our original review ultimately concluded that the Streak was a promising device in need of an update from Android 1.6 to Froyo. On second look, does our American reviewer agree? Read on.

Samsung joins the crowd, rejects Apple's Omnia 2 antenna claims

RIM and Nokia aren't the only ones saying "WTF Steve!?" after last Friday's press conference attempted to draw the competition into the Antennagate saga. Samsung has issued its own choice reaction about supposed problems with the Omnia 2, though this one is somewhat less sternly worded than the others:

The antenna is located at the bottom of the Omnia 2 phone, while iPhone's antenna is on the lower left side of the device. Our design keeps the distance between a hand and an antenna. We have fully conducted field tests before the rollout of smartphones. Reception problems have not happened so far, and there is no room for such problems to happen in the future.

Why is Samsung being rather more polite? Because it's full of really nice people? Or, is it because the iPhone 4 is stuffed with Samsung memory chips? We'll let your level of cynicism be your guide here.

Motorola DROID 2 to be released with Android 2.2?

This weekend, the folks over at Droid-Life acquired an image that seems to answer a question a lot of potential DROID 2 owners have. Will the DROID 2 ship with Android 2.2 — Froyo — or will they have to wait for Verizon to release an update? Well, luckily it looks like the answer to the first half of that question is: yes, the DROID 2 will ship with Android 2.2. The image obtained by DL shows a D2 prototype running Froyo, with Verizon branding, complete with Motorola’s not-really-BLUR UI (joy). Android 2.2, an improved keyboard, and a 1 GHz processor?! We can’t wait!

Se7en is back with Digital Bounce

After being away for nearly four years, Se7en is back to the motherland with the release of his first mini album titled Digital Bounce.

The mini album appropriately contains 7 tracks:

01. INTRO – RESET

After a quick listen I have to say that all the tracks are pretty fresh with the title track Digital Bounce featuring Big Bang’s T.O.P being my favorite. Thanks to everyone who sent in tips and remember to support the artist by purchasing the album. Also keep an eye out for the MV which should be released soon.

Ming Dao hires personal stylist to manage his coif for new drama

"The hair” is an extremely important part of anyone’s overall appearance, especially in the case Asian male idols whose careers literally depend on it. As an idol drama veteran and former boyband member himself, Ming Dao certainly knows good hair goes a long way. To ensure hair perfection, he has hired a personal stylist to maintain his coif on the set of his new drama Zhong Wu Yen, which will begin airing this Sunday.

Ming Dao reportedly hired a stylist from the famous salon EROS, which normally charges NT$ 25,000 for 8 hours of work on location. Luckily, the collaboration is being treated as a project so it will cost him approximately 100k per month instead.

Some crew members from Zhong Wu Yen were said to be shocked by Ming Dao's A-list hair treatment. However, his manager stated that they are in fact paying for the stylist themselves, not the production. In addition to hiring a top stylist, the actor has lost 4 kg and spent 400k on wardrobe, in hopes to present viewers with the best Ming Dao-experience.

Lindsay Lohan Full-Frontal Nudity In Lovelace Biopic

Lindsay Lohan will go nude in her first post-prison film, a biopic based on the life of adult film star Linda Lovelace.

The Mean Girls star will play the notorious star of the ’70s skin flick in a biopic called Inferno. And producers say the role is a far cry from The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday, and other family-friendly hits that made Lohan one of the most-celebrated young actress of the 2000s.

“There’ll be full frontal nudity. But it’s not a porn movie. It’s an artistic movie about a porn star,” director Matt Wilder told The Sun this week. “It will not be cinematic nudity – it will be more violent nudity. For example, linked images of the Vietnam war – that kind of context. It’s not a porn movie, it’s an artistic movie about a porn star. We will not see Lindsay performing oral sex, but there could be some clever play with black boxes or other cinematic tricks that the viewer may see.”

Kim Kardashian shows off her curvy figure in tiny striped bikini as she spends time with sister Kourtney in Miami

Kim Kardashian has been spending a lot of time in Miami recently, but who can blame her when she has a bikini body like this?

The 29-year-old socialite wore a tiny purple and white striped triangle bikini as she strolled along with beach with her 31-year-old sister earlier this week.

Wearing dark sunglasses and carrying a sarong, Kim showed off her enviable figure in the two-piece, which drew particular attention to her most famous asset - her curvy bottom.

Kim, who looked as though she was enjoying herself as she spent time with her older sibling, recently started following the Quick Trim diet system again.

HTC Droid Incredible and Motorola DROID X stock delayed until August

Oh, the irony. Verizon, having offered HTC Droid Incredible customers the chance to switch their order of the short-supply smartphone to the new Motorola DROID X and hopefully get a new Android smartphone sooner, now find themselves lacking in DROID X stock. According to the carrier’s webstore, neither handset is currently available.

In fact, stock isn’t expected to ship out until August 3rd, two weeks from today. Both are priced at $199.99 with a new, two-year agreement and the mandatory voice and data plans.

Having reviewed both the Droid Incredible and the DROID X, we can’t really say we’re surprised by the demand; both handsets are strong performers, with great displays, fast processors and decent multimedia performance. Are you waiting for one or the other?

HP PalmPad dual-mode multitouch display with active pen input tipped

Having seemingly gained a name, HP’s PalmPad webOS based tablet is now gradually getting fleshed out with hardware capabilities, too. According to The Examiner, their source suggests HP will use a dual-mode touchscreen that combines a Wacom active digitizer with a finger-friendly multitouch capacitive layer. The pairing would mean PalmPad users could navigate with their fingers while also using a special pen stylus for accurate drawing and text entry.

As their source points out, HP already make use of the dual-mode technology in their EliteBook 2740p convertible notebook PC. Of course, the system would also add expense, and webOS apps designed to take advantage of the new input method would be required. Incidentally, The Examiner’s source suggests that the PalmPad name may not, in fact, be finalized within HP, and could still change.

Angelina Jolie dazzles in super short dress (but covers the secret inner thigh tattoo she had inked on for Brad Pitt)

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt took a break from saving the world to walk the red carpet at the premiere of her new film Salt in Los Angeles last night.

The golden couple, who have six children, lit up the Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood as they signed autographs and chatted with fans.

But Brad, 46, who recently shaved his long beard to the delight of his many fans, was clearly cast in the supporting role.

It was Angelina's time to shine in a dazzling black sequinned mini-dress that put her legs on show.

But the sequinned Armani confection wasn't short enough to reveal the new tattoo she has on her inner thigh, a secret tribute to her partner.

The 35-year-old showed a hint of the ink in a recent photoshoot for Vanity Fair but declined to reveal what it said.

On Eve of Jail, Shapiro Out as Lindsay Lohan's Lawyer

Lindsay Lohan will report to jail on Tuesday, but it's anybody's guess who will be her legal representation. Celebrity lawyer Robert Shapiro reportedly quit the star's legal team on Monday, TMZ is reporting, leaving it unclear if Lohan will simply be representing herself when she surrenders to Judge Marsha Revel to begin her 90-day sentence.

Sources close to Lohan have told RadarOnline.com that Shawn Chapman Holley, the star's lawyer at the time of sentencing, has reconsidered and will be by her side just like old times. Chapman Holley didn't sign the substitution of attorney form last week, meaning she is still technically Lohan's counsel.

"Shawn never really left, Bob had been there guiding us," a source told Radar. "He was great, but he was just consulting, that's all he ever was."

But Shapiro, who successfully defended O.J. Simpson in his murder trial, announced last week that he was indeed Lohan's new attorney, and that he was determined to help Lohan stay sober and complete all the terms of her sentencing.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Retires Risque Roles At Mom’s Insistence

Jennifer Love Hewitt straps on her lucite heels for a turn as a sex worker in the new Lifetime Original Movie, The Client List, premiering tonight @ 9PM.

The racy role could be the last on-screen sauciness we see from Hewitt for a while. The busty stunner has promised to take on more wholesome roles in the future after her mother voiced concern over her recent provocative projects.

The former Ghost Whisperer star has spent the last few months promoting her love and dating book, The Day I Shot Cupid, in which she talks about “vajazzling” — decorating her vagina with stick-on crystals — to spice up a relationship. Tonight’s made-for-TV drama sees a recently laid-off married mom (Jennifer Love Hewitt) falling into the world of prostitution when she takes a new role at a massage parlor in small town Texas.

It’s all become a bit much for Jenn’s mom. She hopes her famous daughter will choose more family-friendly jobs to tackle next.

Apple earnings should quell antenna debacle

Apple CEO Steve Jobs said Friday he has no intention of apologizing to investors for the stock drop resulting from "Antennagate." After Apple's third-quarter earnings are reported Tuesday afternoon, it's likely he won't need to.

Apple is expected to again report results that will please investors. Wall Street is expecting between $13.82 billion and $15.74 billion in revenue, and earnings between $2.65 and $3.74 per share. Apple has offered a typically conservative forecast: third-quarter 2010 revenues between $13 billion and $13.4 billion, and earnings per share between $2.28 and $2.39.

Apple on Tuesday will surely be trumpeting the high demand for the iPhone 4 (it's still out of stock in many stores) and the continued expansion of the iPad in new markets (nine more countries this Friday). Apple said at a special press conference to address antenna issues last week it has sold "well over 3 million" iPhone 4s since its release in late June.

Apple to charge upgrade fee for iPads moving to iOS 4?

As if waiting around until fall to get iOS 4 weren't enough of a downer for iPad owners, the latest rumor we're hearing is that they'll have to pay a fee in order to do so. That's right, for the privilege of waiting patiently to get some semblance of multitasking on your slate device, you'll have to pony up the cash -- or so the story goes. Stuff has it on strong authority from app developers in the know that Apple will be asking for a (relatively small) tithe from those wishing to update their iPads when the leaves start turning amber. We'd advise keeping the pitchforks stowed for now -- at least until there's some solid corroboration for this -- but then it's not like Apple hasn't done this before.

SHINee unleashes Lucifer music video

SHINee will definitely be packing a punch with their first comeback stage this Friday, and with the release of their 2nd full-length album that dropped yesterday containing 13 brand new tracks, well it’s just quite clear that the boys will be dominating the scene for some time.

SM Entertainment has also today released the official music video for their title track Lucifer which can be viewed below. Rocking similar outfits and concepts to their teaser photos, the boys are just oozing charisma, and making all of the fan girls and boys scream for more. Stay tuned for this week’s Music Bank.

Lee Junki and Joo Ji Hoon to star in Voyage of Life musical

The special military musical production, Voyage of Life has been gaining a lot of attention ever since it was announced that actors Lee Junki and Joo Ji Hoon who are currently serving in the army, would be playing lead roles in it.

The musical which is co-produced by the Ministry of National Defense and Korea Musical Theatre Association to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Korean War, has recently revealed its promotional poster, generating more hype.

This will be the first time that Joo Ji Hoon and Lee Junki will be working together and they have been rehearsing for the musical since June with the other cast members.

Lindsay Lohan Complex Magazine August/September 2010

One last bikini shot before jail! On the eve of the start of her 90-day jail sentence, troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan makes her final cover appearance for the next 30 months. The former “Mean Girl” finds herself getting felt up by an animated hand on the graphics-laden cover of the Aug/Sept. 2010 issue of Complex Magazine, an appearance more than two months in the making.

“We consider ourselves lucky to be able to present this super-sexy photoshoot just to remind everyone of just how bad (meaning good!) Lindsay is. Featuring art by none other than KAWS, the story kicks off our 2010 Style & Design Issue in ultimate Complex style. Unfortunately, Lindsay got caught up in the madness—Cannes, court, and conviction—before we had a chance to interview her, so we instead used the cover story to ask the question everyone’s forgetting: what’s it like to be LiLo right now? For all the hand-wringing and schadenfreude everyone seems to love indulging in, this is still a human being, and one who’s contending with a world that clearly wants her to fail. Not us, though—if it were our call, all she’d do is win. We got your back, Linds!”

Angelina: Brad and I Must "Be Very Careful" If We Work Together Again

Don't rule out Mr. and Mrs. Smith 2 just yet.

Angelina Jolie says she would love to work with Brad Pitt on a movie again -- but under very strict conditions.

"Of course, of course," the Salt star told AFP of costarring once again with Pitt. The couple famously met while making 2005's Mr. and Mrs. Smith; at the time, Pitt was still married Jen Aniston.

Now that she and Pitt are partners and parents to six kids, Jolie, 35, explains that the film selection process is dicier.

"I think when you are a real couple, (there are) some things audiences prefer to see real couples do, and some things they really don't like to see real couples do, so you have to be very careful," she explained.

Yet Jolie gushed that she could never get sick of Pitt, 46. "I'd like to do everything with him, I love to be just with him... I don't think it is a risk for us, we have fun doing everything together."

Plus, now that she's a mom, Jolie has curtailed her work schedule -- as has Pitt.

"I only work for a few months and then I take many months off," she explained. "Before 'Salt' we got a year and half off and just traveled and I just was a mom.

HP Files for PALMPAD Trademark, webOS Slate Gets a Name?

The United States Patent and Trademark Office granted Hewlett-Packard a trademark for the term "PalmPad" late last week.

HP hasn't released specific details on what it plans to do with the trademark; however, the application form confirms that HP will limit its use to "Computers, computer hardware, computer software, computer peripherals, portable computers, handheld and mobile computers, PDAs, electronic notepads, mobile digital electronic devices."

After killing off development for their Windows 7 Slate earlier this year, and subsequently canceling development of a planned Android-based tablet, it seems reasonable to conclude that the PalmPad will be an Apple iPad competitor, running HP's recently acquired Palm WebOS.

Apple discussed Verizon switch 'at least half a dozen times,' and other stories about its AT&T relationship

Apple and AT&T may be exclusive partners, but neither is very pleased with the current state of the relationship, according to Wired.

On Monday, Wired posted a behind-the-scenes look at the state of the partnership between the iPhone maker and the iPhone's carrier partner in the U.S. News flash: the two are kind of sick of each other.

It's not a complete surprise that Apple and AT&T are unhappy. There have been numerous reports that Apple has tried to end its exclusive contract with AT&T early because of continued network problems in major cities like New York and San Francisco.

But AT&T is equally dismayed at Apple's refusal to work through the problems together, according to Wired writer Fred Vogelstein. He writes that the two companies have butted heads since 2007 on a variety of things: how YouTube videos should be handled, when tethering would be available, and how to dress for board meetings. (AT&T apparently suggested Jobs wear a suit to meet with its directors, to which Apple said its employees "don't own suits.")

YG, “GDragon’s concert too obscene? Contrary to the freedom of expression”

It is known that YG Entertainment has applied for the *위헌법률제청 on 16th July in Seoul East District Court under the regulations of public performance.

That day, YG’s representative Yang HyunSeok and the public performance team leader Jung (35) went through the first trial for the case of GDragon’s concert performance being criticised to contain too much sexual references.

Their legal representative Jung KyungSeok said, “This case goes against the rights for freedom of expression stated under the amended regulations of public performances. By the ratings by age, the concert can be viewed by teenagers above 18.”

Meanwhile, ahead of this in March, GDragon’s solo concert has been slammed with criticisms of having too many sexual reference which pose as a harm to the teenagers who attended the concert.

Paris Hilton Poses Topless on Vacation

This is certainly one way for Paris Hilton to show she's not carrying around anything illegal.

Despite the fact that the heiress has been stopped not once, but twice for allegedly being in possession of marijuana, such setbacks clearly haven't kept Paris from being, well, Paris. All the while taking the time to tweet about it to us common folk.

However, her latest leap into the lap of luxury—sunning topless on a yacht in Sardinia this weekend—has forced Paris to make a bit of a mental reminder.

"Note to Self - Beware," she tweeted today. "You never know when some perv paparazzi may be lurking and hiding on a fishing boat in the middle of the ocean."

Because if there's one person who needs a reminder about those pesky paps, it's the very private Paris.

Lindsay Lohan's Reaction to Jail: EEEKS!

With jail just hours away and her attorney reportedly quitting, Lindsay Lohan appeared to be trying to come to terms Monday night with her plight.

"The only 'bookings' that i'm familiar with are Disney Films, never thought that i'd be 'booking' into Jail... eeeks," she wrote on her Twitter page.

The post came after her attorney Robert Shapiro, who had taken on her case unofficially on the condition she followed the judge's orders and reported to jail, stepped away on the same day he met with the judge, TMZ.com reports.

It was not immediately clear who would be representing Lohan at her Tuesday morning hearing in Beverly Hills Superior Court where she is ordered to surrender.

Although he has been assisting her, Shapiro never formally became her attorney. Technically, her lawyer is still Shawn Chapman Holley, who parted ways with Lohan after the actress's sentencing but never signed the papers removing herself as attorney of record.

Lohan, 24, was sentenced to 90 days in a women's jail for violating probation in a DUI case, but likely will serve only a fraction of that due to overcrowding. She had entered a sober living facility with ties to Shapiro; her assistant was seen removing her belongings earlier Monday.

Apple, Antennagate, and Why It's Time to Move On

"There's an awful lot of hoopla about that iPhone antenna." Why yes, there is. And while there's much to criticize about Apple's response, we're glad to see they've stopped pretending the problem doesn't exist.

Apple spent most of the time last week defending the iPhone 4's antenna, using both data and rhetoric that was impressive in its scope.

Lee Byung Hun caught between Kim Tae Hee and Kuroki Meisa

IRIS couple Lee Byung Hun and Kim Tae Hee recently posed romantically for a Japanese magazine 25ans.

The magazine did this spread to celebrate the airing of IRIS in Japan. Kuroki Meisa, who is the Japanese actress that dubbed Kim Tae Hee’s voice, joined the photoshoot as well.

In this photoshoot which saw them dressed in classy outfits, the two women put Lee Byung Hun between them as if there is an existing love triangle.

HTC DROID Incredible to be updated to Froyo end of July, early August

We just received a juicy tip about the HTC DROID Incredible software update schedule that we’d like to share. One of our strategically placed Ninjas was kind enough to pass along an email from HTC that read as follows:

I wanted to pass along that the upcoming Incredible MR will also include Froyo (originally it was going to be two separate MRs).

We are targeting the end of the month/first part of August. As a reminder, below are the highlights:
  • Froyo
  • 802.11 n
  • 3G Mobile Hot Spot
  • HTC Widget: Email
  • HTC Widget: News
  • EAS Updates
  • 720p Video Recording
  • Amazon MP3
  • Skype
  • My Verizon
Obviously, the news here is that the Incredible update that began rolling out this weekend will — in all likelihood — be halted, and a sexier, Froyo-inclusive update will be pushed out in the coming weeks. The update will also include 802.11n Wi-Fi support, 3G Mobile Hot Spot, 720p video recording, and more. Not bad news for Incredible owners. What do you think? Is Android 2.2 worth an extra few weeks of waiting?

Some Droid X handsets have defective screens? (video)

All's not well in Creepy Red Eye land, if reports out of several cell phone forums can be believed -- a number of early Droid X adopters are documenting serious graphical or possibly electrical problems with the handset's giant screen. While we don't know how widespread the issue might be quite yet, symptoms include rapid flickering and vertical banding over all or part of the 4.3-inch LCD. Several forumites claim to have already had their phones replaced, in some cases being told the defect was a common problem in their respective launch day batches. We've contacted Verizon for confirmation and hope to have a response soon; in the meanwhile, see video examples of both issues after the break, and let us know if you've seen similar glitches in comments below.

Taylor Swift Has a New Boyfriend?

TAYLOR Swift has a new beau!

According to reports, the Love Story singer — who has previously dated Joe Jonas and Taylor Lautner — has hooked up with a young man called Toby Hemingway.

“They met on the set of her music video, A Rose to the Fallen, and instantly connected,” a source said.

“They both don’t want to rush into anything too serious, so are taking it slow.”

Swift has previously said she’s too busy for a boyfriend.

“There’s a lot to distract me from dating,” she said back in April. “I don’t really sit around and wallow in being alone. It’s in my comfort zone, being single.

“I feel that a lot happens to you when you’re not looking for it, so I’m not actively looking. I don’t have a problem with being single.

“All my friends in high school would always go from boyfriend to boyfriend and they were never alone because they hated being alone. I never want to be that way.”

Jessica Simpson: "I'm 30 and Found a Wrinkle"

Nine days into her thirties, Jessica Simpson is already seeing the effects of aging.

"It is official -- I'm 30 and found a wrinkle," the singer Tweeted Monday. "Damnit!"

But despite her beauty woes, Simpson has a reason to smile: boyfriend of seven weeks Eric Johnson, who helped the singer celebrate her July 10 birthday on the Italian island of Capri earlier this month.

"He seems completely smitten," a source tells the new issue of Us Weekly.

And Simpson -- who once complained, "23 is old! It's almost 25, which is almost mid-twenties!" -- is equally as head over heels.

"Eric clearly makes her laugh and he seems amused in her company as well," a source tells Us. " I know she is really happy."

Motorola mini Droid slider caught by Mr. Blurrycam

Okay, this one's a complete and very welcome surprise -- some extremely blurry pictures and a quick video of what appears to be a smaller Motorola portrait QWERTY Android slider for Verizon just popped up on the Chinese Hiapk forums -- and yes, it's got the glowing red Droid eye. We're not sure if that means the Droid line is about to get a smaller midrange sibling or what, but Motorola's definitely pushing out some of the more interesting Android form factors lately, and this mini Droid certainly fits right in with the Flipout and the Charm. A couple more shots and the video after the break.

Verizon’s Motorola Droid 2 prepped for August 23rd launch

The Droid 2's been leaking out all over the place in the past few weeks, but it looks like it'll be another month before it officially hits shelves -- we just got these shots from a packaging facility that's handling the phone, which puts it right on schedule for that rumored August 23rd launch. We're also told that the phone will definitely ship with an 8GB microSD card, and that pricing appears to be $199 on contract and $599 standalone, although those numbers could change. Just a few short weeks left, we suppose -- although give the rate at which this thing is leaking, we're thinking Motorola and Verizon might do well to push that date up a couple weeks. We'll see.

In the steamy black-and-white shots, Aniston, 41, covers her chest with her arms as she works the camera, wearing nothing but a white skirt.

She is expected to launch the scent Wednesday at Harrods department store in London.

Katy Perry shows off her pre-wedding bikini body as she has fun in Bahamas water park with friends

She's always been in good shape.

But yesterday Katy Perry showed off the results of her tough diet and exercise regime ahead of her wedding to Russell Brand as she enjoyed the slides at a water park in the Bahamas with friends.

The 25-year-old singer looked toned and svelte in a black and white bikini with red ribbon embellishments as she made her way around Atlantis Paradise Island in Nassau.

Giggling with friends, Katy appeared to be making the most of her free time after performing a sell-out concert at the resort's Grand Ballroom.

She waved to fans as she enjoyed the attractions at the water park with an entourage which included her brother David Hudson, her assistant Suzanne Sansone and stylist Logan Horne.

Before arriving in the Bahamas, Katy tweeted: 'BERMUDA, BAHAMAS, CUMMON BABY MAMA!'

Windows Phone 7 in-depth preview

It's been a long road, hasn't it? Well, in some respects, it hasn't -- in fact, it's only been about two years since development of Windows Phone 7 as we know it today kicked off -- but when you consider that this product will be replacing Windows Mobile 6.5, that puts things in proper perspective. In fact, even the very latest maintenance releases of good ol' WinMo are based on the same rickety underpinnings as version 5.0 was way back in 2005, at a time when WVGA smartphone displays were science fiction, 4G networks were a good two Gs beyond the average American's comprehension, and Engadget looked like this. Nowadays, it's a very different game; eight year-olds have access to mobile email, your phone understands German, and "Yelp" is a verb (okay, actually Yelp is a verb). Indeed, mobile devices are the new PCs -- and companies like Apple and Google are dominating an industry that had once been practically handed to Microsoft on a silver platter. No one -- either inside or outside of Redmond -- is arguing that change isn't desperately (and quickly) needed, because it simply isn't enough to dominate the desktop anymore.

In light of all that, you could call Windows Phone 7 a desperation move to become relevant in the pocket again. Call it whatever you like, but regardless, brand loyalty isn't going to save this product -- it simply has to be good to sell. Scratch that; it actually has to be nearly flawless in a world where iOS 4 and Gingerbread play. Microsoft still has a few months before it intends to get the first volley of Windows Phone 7-based products to the marketplace, but we've recently been provided with reference hardware -- a not-for-retail Samsung called "Taylor" that's closely modeled on the Symbian-based i8910HD -- to get a feel for where they're at as the clock ticks down. Is this shaping up to be a killer platform for the next generation of high-end smartphones? And more importantly, can it win customers? Read on for our first take.

BlackBerry 9800 slider video demos: OS 6, browser & media menu

The more we see RIM’s upcoming BlackBerry 9800 touchscreen slider, the more impressed we are. In the latest batch of videos to sneak out to Salomondrin, the 9800 demonstrates its BlackBerry OS 6 media and browser credentials, making short work of not only the previous browser but what you’ll find on the iPhone and Android devices.

There’s also a nifty overview of OS 6 itself, just in case RIM’s two official preview videos haven’t been sufficient to sate your curiosity. We’re most interested in the browser, frankly, which scores significantly higher in various online compliance tests – such as HTML5 – than rival browsers on iOS and Android.

Jay wants to stay single

The superstar dismisses rumours that his songs refer to his love life and reveals that he has been single for a long time

Superstar Jay Chou is in no hurry for love.

Instead, he's enjoying the bachelor life. On a talk-show in China, the Taiwanese Prince of Pop revealed that he does not feel that he is ready for marriage and his mother is not hurrying him to.

"I've been single for a very long time!" Jay quips.

About his new single Chao Ren Bu Hui Fei (loosely translates to Superman Can't Fly) from his latest album, Jay explained that the song is an account of his 10-year journey in the music industry.

In the song, there is a part where Jay sings about superheroes not allowed to have tears; when asked if he has cried recently, Jay revealed that he rarely does.

"I only cry when needed in movies but that isn't real either. I don't wear my heart on my sleeve, so even if I feel really touched I won't cry either."

He also dismissed the links between his songs and his own love life, saying that he already expected the paparazzi to link the ballads in his album to his 'ex-girlfriends'.

"You don't have to try and find clues about me from my songs because I don't write about my own feelings. I write songs based on general feelings that everyone will have. I don't write my own lyrics either to avoid misunderstandings."

When the host of the talk-show praised Jay as the new 'heavenly king' of the Chinese pop industry - the title 'Four Heavenly Kings' was previously given to superstars Lau, Leon Lai, Aaron Kwok and Jacky Cheung - Jay humbly plays it down.

"Only the Four Heavenly Kings are the real kings; there's no way I can measure up to them."

Lindsay Lohan to report to jail tomorrow

Lindsay Lohan is due to begin her jail sentence tomorrow at the 16-year-old Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif., just south of downtown Los Angeles.

But it's not an unfamiliar place to the actress. She served 84 minutes at the Lynwood facility in 2007 for a drunken driving offense. She was searched, fingerprinted and placed in a holding cell but allowed to keep wearing her street clothes.

This time, Lohan actress will be housed in the 2,200-bed facility's special needs unit, where she'll live in isolation for her own safety, reports AP. Other celebs who have been housed at the jail include Paris Hilton (reckless driving), Daryl Hannah (for her tree-sitting demonstration), Nicole Richie and Khloe Kardashian (drunken driving charges). have all spent some time there.

Samsung dismiss Apple antenna claims: “reception problems have not happened”

They don’t seem quite as mad as RIM’s co-CEOs were, but Samsung certainly aren’t willing to let Apple have the final say when it comes to antenna testing. Responding to Steve Jobs’ demonstration of an attenuated Omnia II during the iPhone 4 press conference on Friday, Samsung told the Korea Herald that “reception problems have not happened so far” with their devices, because “our design keeps the [sic] distance between a hand and an antenna.”

“The antenna is located at the bottom of the Omnia 2 phone, while iPhone’s antenna is on the lower left side of the device. Our design keeps the distance between a hand and an antenna. We have fully conducted field tests before the rollout of smartphones. Reception problems have not happened so far, and there is no room for such problems to happen in the future” Samsung

Jobs alleged that rather than being an iPhone 4 specific problem, the reception issues that have prompted broad criticism of the new fourth-generation smartphone were in fact indicative of an industry-wide challenge. Apple have since set up an antenna page on their site which demonstrates signal attenuation on the Omnia II together with a BlackBerry Bold 9700 and HTC Droid Eris.

Motorola DROID X privacy issue with text messages and call logs

Bought a shiny new Motorola DROID X? Well, for the most part, it’s one rock solid beast of a handset, but we’ve been informed there is a pretty low to medium size privacy flaw (depending on your point of view), and have verified it ourselves. The Motorola DROID X actually will show text message and call history logs, even if you have deleted those items from the phone, via its contacts history function. All you have to do is scroll over to contact history in the contacts app and you’ll find the deleted information there. The issue doesn’t persist after an entire phone wipe, but it’s still a little disconcerting that any threaded text message conversations or recent calls would still show up after deletion. Check out our video after the jump for a quick run through of what we’re finding with text messages. We have reached to Verizon to find out if this is something they’re aware of / working on fixing, but we’ve also been told this is visible on other Motorola handsets, and it looks like it’s tied to the BLUR interface.

Charlene Choi's new album expressing her feelings on love? Helplessly denies contract rumors

Organized by Guangdong FM 99.3 Radio Station, "M-Zone - Charlene Choi's Debut Mandarin Album 'Confidant' Party" was recently held in Guangzhou. In addition to Ah Sa Charlene Choi appearing in person bringing along her debut Mandarin album "As A Sa", singers Sherman Chung and Ken Hung were special guest performers at the concert.

Following the release of Ah Sa's first Mandarin album "As A Sa", the album has received praise and positive critiques. Ah Sa revealed that over 1 year was spent on preparing and recording the album, with Charlene personally greatly liking each song and with every song portraying her mood and frame of mind. Within the album, "Willing to Love" (Song audio) is a song Charlene has personally composed (Mandarin version of Charlene's "Able to Let Go"), Charlene is especially fond of the lyrics sung with emotion, "Because you loved therefore you are willing to part, because you are willing to part therefore there was worth (to the relationship)." As well another song she personally really likes is "The Past is Not Like Smoke" (MV), a song Charlene says is able to represent her thoughts and feelings. "People often say 'past events are like smoke' (they can easily be forgotten and detached from your life), but there are a lot of memories that are stored in my heart and mind." Another song, a leading fan-favourite entitled "Let Go" (Song audio) includes the English lyrics "Baby I know, maybe it's time for us both to let go" and ends with the Mandarin lyrics "I need to endure, I will endure." Speaking of this, it seems to suggest Charlene Choi and Ronald Cheng's previous relationship. Unforgettable past events are maturing experiences, just as Ah Sa treats love and relationships with a positive and courageous attitude for the future.

“Mischa was looking pretty merry in a bedraggled short flowery dress and white bow,” a source said. “She and Ali were all over each other backstage, and kept popping off to the toilets — presumably for a cheeky kiss.

“They just returned from a break in the South of France and things are obviously going really well.”
